Paradisus Rio De Oro: Excellent time

The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Our room was cleaned each day and the maid always left us with a small towel decoration which was very thoughtful. The property is beautiful and is well maintained. The food was good and especially the A La Carte restaurants. Unfortunately for the regular "everyday" buffet men had to wear long pants at supper time which did not make a whole lot of sense and was a huge inconvenience. Beach was very nice...a little rocky to my taste but still a beautiful area to walk along and to see the sights! We unfortunately had a very LARGE cockroach in our bathroom one evening. We got rid of it but I have to admit I have never seen one this large. We advised and we were told that they would spray the building

Paradisus Rio De Oro: We had a wonderful trip!

The beach was a little rocky which made it difficult to enter the ocean. There were only a couple of narrow areas that allowed easy access to enter. The pool was large and clean. Never had an issue finding a lounger on the beach nor at the pool. Staff at the front desk, the wait and cleaning staff were all friendly. Please note than this location has its own cashier to exchange money and gave you a better exchange rate than at the front desk. We had no issue getting small bills/coins. The only  [... read more]issue to really note is that unlike all other resorts that I have stayed at, men needed to where long pants in order to eat at the buffet restaurant. I am used to having to do this for the a la cartes, however most people expect a less formal dress code for the buffets. I had brought shorts and could not wear them. Thankfully I wore jeans down to Holguin and I could wear those, however my travel companion did not and was left scrambling for what to wear. Then at the a la cartes, men were allowed to enter in culottes, sandals and t-shirts. The spa was a great place to spend the last day there. The spa has a private beach and pool, separate massage huts as well as a steam and sauna room. The only issue there was that the locker room was co-ed. Great for couples but not great for strangers. You had to go into the bathroom to change in private. It was just very awkward. They should have separate locker rooms for each sex and then have common areas for people to mingle in. Otherwise, the place in beautiful. It was easy to navigate and nothing was more than a 5 minute walk. I'd return to this resort.

Playa Pesquero: Huge Resort

This resort is very large, spread out over a large area so lots of walking, nice pool, and a very nice beach. The buffets are fairly good but the food in the trays are cool. I feel this hotel is great for the younger set, lots of noise, etc.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: very nice resort.

our rooms were clean and modern. The food was for the most part was very good. The wifi system however was very frustrating to say the least. Pools and beaches were awesome. The grounds were well kept and the workers were on the job every day.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good Value

The grounds are lovely, the pools are large, and the staff are warm and friendly. The beach is better for snorkelling than just splashing around, as it is pretty rocky. Be prepared to wake up at 6am if you want a chair at the beach or pool in the shade though... The food is what you would expect for Cuba, everything tastes just a bit different. I really wish we had listened to others and brought peanut butter and ketchup. The Italian a la carte is the best of them all, and the beach snack [... read more] bar has the coldest slushy machines. Ask for a ham and cheese sandwich, no ham, and you will get a grilled cheese! The omelet station at the breakfast buffet is the best meal I ate every day, and well worth waiting in whatever length of line. I especially love the way they would crisp up your bacon for you. The rooms are pretty standard, nothing fancy, but clean, and the housekeeper will leave extra beer and water in the mini fridge if you ask nicely. Definitely upgrade to Plus, it is worth it for the plus pool alone. The only reason I would not return here is because I'm pale as a ghost and need shade, and I don't want to have to wake up at 6am everyday just so I don't burn to a crisp.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great resort

We had a great time at this resort, there were a lot of waking and stairs which was an inconvenience for us because we had a young child and stiller. The rooms need some updating and the bed was very uncomfortable. Other than that the food was good just little variety. There was lots to do entertainment going on. The best meal was the pool side lobster at addition cost but totally worth it.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great Resort.

Rooms need to be upgraded. They have started with a new face lift on the out side. I would not recommend this resort for seniors because of the many stairs through out the resort and to get down to the beach area. The beach is very nice and there is lots of shade areas and you don't have to be down at 5 in the morning to get a spot a big plus. Food was good in the buffet and the specialty restaurant were excellent. The staff was great and service was excellent.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Beautiful resort

All the staff are very nice and helpful. Food is pretty basic things it just tasted a little different but still was good! When we arrived, our room was not correct. It was too late at night for anyone to help us switch rooms so we slept there for the night but in the morning we got it all figured out and the new room was beautiful and quite spacious! Entertainment at this resort is always good to watch and there's always something going on activity wise so it's never a dull moment

Playa Pesquero: Good for Cuba

I'm never one to expect more or less than I pay for. That being said, the beach was awesome, the food was good...very good at ala cartes. The lobby are was being painted when we left. The room we were in could use a renovation on the bathroom...but other than that...good time. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Viva Cuba!

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Awesome

We just returned April 9, 2017 from great vacation. Beach, sunshine, very friendly people, great food, everything was perfect. It has excellent location, you can enjoy ocean view from one side and green hills on other side while drinking best coffee. Great gardens, beautifull flowers, tenis, mini golf, billiar, all makes this resort worth visiting again.

Playa Pesquero: Incredible Spot! You will love it!

Playa Pesquero is truly a gem! The staff go out of their way for you, the beach is gorgeous, no bugs to speak of, 7 restaurants, fabulous pools; and it is huge!! Great value for the money! The resort is clean, the main lobby relaxing, there are shows in the evenings, and despite its massive size, the bell boys are always available if you need a lift. Brisas Guardalavaca: Really good resort

I really liked how clean it was, I felt safe and everyone was very friendly. One of the grounds keepers saw me struggling with my luggage and helped me with it without me asking or anything. It was very much appreciated. The lifeguard at the pool educated me on sea urchins and I saw him making little hummingbirds for the young children which I though was just great. The doors did not work, and they were rationing out toilet paper. There was no paper towel to dry your hands on. Not a very good last impression of Cuba.

Playa Costa Verde: Love this Resort!!!!!

This was my 10th visit to this resort..... Love this resort & a lot of updates are being done.... Cannot say enough about this resort...The food was great & the staff will do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable. This was my second time there this year & cannot wait to return!!!!!!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Amazing time!

This was our first trip anywhere. We can't wait to go back! Staff was friendly, food was pretty decent. We went off resort and only found friendly people. The excursions were great and fairly priced. Met some great people from around the world. We both agreed to do 2 weeks next time. There was some construction, but we weren't bothered by it. We upgraded once there to ocean view and loved it. Great snorkeling there as well.

Playa Costa Verde: Our favorate resort in Cuba

We have just returned to Toronto, April 8, after our fourth trip to Playa Costa Verde. We have been to Cuba nine times and like Play Costa Verde best. The resort is under renovations but there was no interruption to the excellent service. All the work is making the resort even better than than before. Rooms are clean, the food is good, kids and adult pools and the beach is beautiful. You can snorkel a few yards off the sand. Take a banana and the fish will be all over you. What makes the tri [... read more]p, the staff are wonderful. This is the first time there were several families at the resort. It appeared to us that the kids program was well run and kept the little ones happy during the day in in the evening early evening on the stage. At about nine PM the stage show started with two acts each evening. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Exactly as advertised!!

The property was beautiful, the service and staff were impeccable, Royal Service is definitely the way to go !! Hats off to a well managed resort. We were impressed at every turn. They would stop at nothing to meet your every request. The only word we never heard was "no"

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great Vacation!

Traveled with family and friends, 14 of us in total. Traveled march 28-april 4th 2017. We all had a lovely time at Memories Holguin. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the AC worked wonderfully for all of us. The resort is quite large, with over 800 rooms in seperate buildings spread out throughout the resort. We were extremely lucky to get in the 500 blocks, with a few groups in the 700s. These rooms were right off of the pools and close to the beach, buffet, lobby, and everywhere else you  [... read more]need to be! However, there are many steps you must conquer to get up to the buffet, snack bar, lobby, some of the pools, and entertainment. So if you have issues with walking and going up many flights of stairs this resort may come as a bit of a hassle to you. They do have carts constantly taking luggage and running people to and from the lobby (very close to the buffet) however, so this is a big help to many who stay in the further rooms! I had talked to a few groups who stayed in the 200 block of rooms and they complained of a 15 minute walk to and from the pool, buffet and beach, just a heads up! As for the staff, everyone I had the pleasure of talking to were lovely, friendly, and accommodating! The food is typical to Cuba, not the greatest, however lots of selection and we never went hungry! The italian and seafood al acarts were very delicious! For the drinks, if you are excited about getting blended and icy drinks, you will be a tad disappointed here. We tried again and again to get some blended daquries and pina coladas, however they showed us their blenders do not quite do the trick. I believe they may be a little too old, and their blades a little too dull to chop the ice, so they always just threw ice in them instead. Although we had spectacular weather the entirety of our trip, 30 and sunny each day!! It was very windy, which was nice to cut through the heat, however you got pelted with sand down on the beach. We got down there for one day, and it was really nice! Water was very warm and nice to swim in, you could walk out forever- only waist deep. Never a shortage of chairs either! Also, be sure to check out the little wind sail catamaran things beside the beach bar, you can sign up for free as many times as you want, and boy are they fun!! You whip through the warm waters and its worth checking out. :) Sorry for how disorganized this post was, I was writing as I remembered it! Overall, we had a great stay, and nothing was bad enough to have a real complaint!! Would recommend. :)

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Won't be returning - homophobes!

I went to this hotel knowing that it wasn't a great hotel as I have been here before. I did upgrade to a villa which made a huge difference. There was a group of 5 of us that went for the snorkeling. As always, it was amazing. The reason I won't be returning is because there was a couple that almost weren't permitted into the resort upon arrival. They weren't with us but we got speaking with them and they told us what happened. They are a gay couple that have been together for 5.5yrs. When  [... read more]they arrived, they were told that they weren't allowed to stay at the resort because the resort is a 'family resort' and has 'standards'. After much arguing, they were allowed to stay. This from a resort that allows prostitutes on the beaches (2 guys in our group were groped on the beach one night). It is sickening.

Everything was great and very clean but didn't have enough entertainment lots of cubians at resort and beach. And the front desk staff was not helpful or very friendly! I find the more I go anywhere in Cuba ppl expect tips n are rude if not given

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Blau epicness

Blau was a beautiful resort with very friendly staff and awesome scenery. The tours outside of the resort and city of Holquin were great as well. The snorkelling off the main beach was also amazing. So many fish and epic coral. Highly recommendable for travelers looking for authentic Cuban feel.
