Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort!

We really enjoyed this resort immensely. The grounds were impeccably kept and clean, the scenery beautiful everywhere and the service and food beyond reproach the beaches are awesome and never seem overcrowded as was the complex itself, we often wondered where everyone was at times! The snorkeling right off shore is great with coral formations of all kinds and beautiful fish. We did however have issues with our suite being overly stuffy and hot at night as we couldn’t get the temperature low [... read more]er than 20. I believe the air conditioning is centrally controlled This led to us not sleep properly. The suite was a bit dated and needed renovation but was clean and bright with a beautiful terrace balcony that we enjoyed a lot. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice Resort

Nice resort. Balcony doors looked like they were pried open with a crow bar. Door did lock but with much figeting. In speaking with other vacationers other balcony doors the same. Partitions between balcony’s had space enough for someone to crawl under. Pathways not very well lit up at night when walking back to room. It was obvious that tips were the main reason for good service otherwise you were ignored or snubbed and staff were rude. The pools and beach were beautiful. The [... read more] food in the buffet was very good with lots to choose from but need more plates available. The morning omelettes were superb. Did not feel the need to go to specialty restaurants. The rooms were clean spacious and beds were very comfortable.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Resort

We really enjoy our stay at Melia Jardines del Ray. Specially the manager Yohanndre very helpful. If you are planning to go cayo coco take with you mosquitoes spry with you. I was eaten alive by mosquitoes lol.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Smile and enjoy the beach

This resort is all about the beach. It is truly incredible! The food was good and plenty of variety.The resort is severely understaffed but friendly. Bartenders were extremely inexperienced and slow. Bars often ran out of beer or other products for the day. We couldn't get a towel until our second day,and couldn't get it changed the rest of the week due to shortages. It was warm and sunny during our stay so we smiled and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Hotel Vigia: Amazing beach!

The resort is small quaint and has Cuban charm. Love the tranquillity and the delightful staff sharing big smiles. The downside is the poor desk service made to feel like an intrusion always. The food was absolutely disgusting. same dried out rice. beans. old food recycled..this was very disappointing. very little fresh fruit. tables always dirty. Have been there 4 times and saw such an extreme change. understaffed. Do not expect a beach towel. Was there a week snd was given a used one d [... read more]isguised as clean. Sad to see the change. Weather perfect. entertainment was lovely with talented variety all week. The al la carte was consistent with delicious meals. Made the best if food. just be careful. undercooked old pork and raw chicken..been going to Cuba for years and first time I'll from food. Take a beach towel. protein bars. water bottle and lots gravol if you eat the bad food. Kite boarding fun to watch at the beautiful beach.

Melia Las Americas: One of the best

I can't say enough good things about this resort, truly a pleasure to stay at. From our check in at the front desk, the bellman, cleaning staff, bar staff, restaurant staff and entertainment crew were all super friendly and were more than happy to help out. The bellman even took our golf clubs over to the golf course to lesson our load. The cleanliness of the entire facility. Melia Jardines del Rey: Needs new management

This hotel is big and I don’t believe they are equipped to accommodate the number of people they can house. From the time we got there there were issues with stock. They continually ran out of beer, ice, vodka, orange juice. The beer was often warm and they had no draft at anytime.The first day we went for breakfast they had no bread. It was hard to get fresh towels in your room and I heard of some people that couldn’t get towels at alll. We managed to get pool towels the first day but the [... read more]re were none available again until the day we were leaving. We were originally housed in building 9 but the continuous smell of sewage outside was over powering. We were moved to building 26 after 2 days where we had no shower curtain. When we brought it up at the front desk they simply said “we don’t have any”. The irrigation system leaked outside our building contributing to the mosquito population and many people, including myself, got covered in bites. Toilets in both rooms ran continuously and didn’t flush properly. We were on the beach one day had one drink from the satellite bar went to get another and were told they were out of ice and beer so they were closing. This was at 1:00 in the afternoon! We were unable to make any reservations for al carte because everything was full except Cuban which I heard wasn’t very good. The line ups took forever to book as well. On the day we were leaving, February 25, I went to the luggage room to get something out of my bag there was a woman on the floor with all her luggage open crying because she thought she had lost her passport. There was a bellboy standing over her. She eventually found it and this guy freaked out on her for wasting his time I guess? The same bellboy about a hour later was making sexual advances towards my friend when she was inquiring about taking a shower. Asked her “if she needed any help in the shower” This hotel has the potential to be a nice hotel and has a beautiful beach but is very poorly managed.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful beach but be ready to hear “no we don’t have that” all week

This resort like all others has good and bad features. The most amazing thing was the beach. You can walk for miles on white sand beaches in either direction with amazing views. Second to this is the pool area which is equally as nice and very clean. The resort overall was nice and clean and the rooms were modern. Now for the negative. Meals were the worst part of everyday of our stay. The food is horrible. There is no selection. They run out of food as soon as the doors open. None of the food [... read more] is labelled so you have no idea what you are eating and the line ups to get the food are very long. The dinning areas are also very understaffed. If you got to the dinning room even a half hour after it opened the tables would not be cleaned off, have fresh cutlery, and you weren’t able to get drinks with your meal. The snack bars are equally as bad when you sit down and order the staff point to 2 items on the 15 item menu and say that is all they have for today and by midway through the lunch service this choice would be further reduced. Fortunately the a la cartes were much better and the service was fast. As we read in previous reviews to bring our own towels we did and this was a life saver for the week as every morning we watched atleast 30 people ask for towels to be told they didn’t have any and would need to come back later. Overall if food is not important to you this resort is good if you can get it for $1000/person or less.

Great beach,great place,breakfast was good, there stock of food and alcohol was low , waited 3 days for beach towels,food selection was fair, could have been better,they had better selection on previous trip, the hotel is sliding down a bit, but it’s cuba, still had a good time

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Wonderful staff!

This was our second time to the Sol. We have never gone to the same resort more than once but the friendly staff and the gorgeous beach brought us back. The rooms are dated but spotless. Initially the room we had was not what we prefer and that was sorted out by a lovely young woman who was in training. We spent our days on the beach and enjoyed lunch every day at the beach restaurant. Yanet and Marley were there with smiles always and the fish of the day never disappointed. The only change t [... read more]hat I didn't like was the Spanish coffee. Not sure why it changed but it could always be a supply thing as this is Cuba! We went out with Robert for an excursion to a farm and caves. He is so knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. I feel like we will be back again because going there felt like going home.

Overall the resort was nice. Very beautiful beach and pools. The bars and the night entertainment were good. But the food was absolutely terrible, I dreaded going to eat every meal. I was warned the food wouldn't be great but I honestly didn't think it would be that bad. I still feel sick when I think about the food. I had a couple problems with my room that I told the front desk about but were NOT fixed i.e the door to my room not locking ever and the phone in my room not working. Very nice pool and beach area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious. Air conditioning units in some of the rooms were a bit noisy. Lots of food choices in the buffet. Dinner in the Japanese restaurant was very entertaining.

This hotel had nice amenities that were clean and comfortable. The beachfront location was a plus! Good variety of food and restaurant options with fun activities throughout the day. The service was slow but staff were very friendly.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort

Pool was nice, beach was amazing, service was good, towels were hard to come by and resort seemed to be a little under staffed, food at the buffets was alright but al le carts were great! All and all it was a great week

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Mediocre at best

Our room was tired Our mini bar was stocked twice which meant we had no water for 2 days Very rarely could you go to the washroom and find toilet paper, hand soap or paper towels The resort grounds were pleasant but not exceptional The buffet was poor at best same thing everyday. Very little variety No limes for drinks Bar tenders were pleasant but few bars so always a long wait for a drink The shows were okay but needs work First time at a melia and won’t likely go back

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: 4 star at best

Staff was friendly. A few minor issues. The 2 hot tubs were never working. 2 of the 3 espresso machines were always broken so couldn't have coffee with breakfast. Had to go to the lobby bar for coffee. Took numerous phone calls to get 2 bottles of water to our room every day.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Very nice resort

This is my second time at this resort and everything is still amazing. It has the most beautiful beach with white sand. The staff is very nice. The only downfall is the 1hr45 drive from the airport to the resort. The food was good with a good variety but the thing that really disappointed me was that they did not have the fresh orange juice which was incredible anymore because they told me that it was too expensive. I will certainly go back in the near future.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Initially Impressed

Lobby and hotel itself was great, beautiful. We were disappointed to hear there was no free wifi. Free wifi could at least have been provided in the lobby instead of having to pay 1 peso per hour. Even if we had to pay, the method by which we had to pay (per hour using a code that timed out in an hour) was inconvenient and frustrating. The food at the buffet was not the best. There was variety but the meats were bland. Breakfast was great though. The one factor that really upset both of u [... read more]s was the state of the room. The pillow and sheets were stained with blood and other dirt. When we asked for receptoin to change the sheets in person they did not. The next day they changed our pillows but not the sheets. So the room was indeed the most disappointing. When you go to Melia brand you do not expect a dirty room. We actually upgraded to the boutique side "Royal Service" because we did not want to ruin our entire stay.

Melia Las Americas: Beautiful paradise!

Beautiful five star resort. The grounds, beeches, and pools were absolutely stunning. Food was good, the a-la-cartes were amazing, rooms were a little dated in our section. Many return customers here, all who say it’s the best ;) It’s located on veraderos only pro golf course so there is more of an older “adult” oriented crowd. Highly recommend.
