Melia Marina Varadero: good

The people at the hotel were welcoming from the first moment from our arrival. The room was very clean and the room service was very fast and we get back a phone call to reassure that we got what we want. The buffet we had lots of variety everyday and the waiters were very polite and friendly. The beach was so clean and many activity there and another buffet close by for the people on the beach. Playa Vista Azul: Disappointed

Grounds are well kept Public areas generally well kept with the exception of public women’s washrooms that we’re often without toilet paper Beach area had exposed jagged rock when you stepped off the stairs which posed a safety risk Room fridge was not stalked upon arrival and room was not cleaned well Had to repeatedly ask for towels and fridge stock through trip Food was tolerable in al carte restaurant however buffets were poor We both were ill on day 2 and needed to carefully sele [... read more]ct food options Quality of fruit was poor and very limited vegetable options The beach buffet location had birds who would walk on tables The resort appeared understaffed and serving staff appeared overwhelmed and in a few cases rude

Playa Vista Azul: Good resort

The good- privilege rooms are first class. Premium drinks are spot on. Excursions are top notch. personnel on the privilege side of the resort are awesome. The bad- the food and service from the a-la-carte and the buffets are 2 star resort at best. French fries are good though but usually empty.

Starfish Jibacoa: Breath Taking View and Amazing staff

I have been to this resort 2 times and plan on becoming a repeat visitor. The staff is absolutely amazing and the resort is a whole new experience. The bungalows give it a village type of feeling and the grounds are extremely well kept and clean. Same for the rooms and buffet. I love this place!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Fair

This was my second stay here, the resort is fair. I would not call it a 4 star though. If you go with the mind set that you’re going to Cuba for the beach and to relax then you’re good. We the food was acceptable but they need to work on their costumer service skills.

Playa Vista Azul: Not what we expected!!!

Let's just say this hotel was not what we expected. Reviews and ratings were high but i'm not sure why. There were cockroaches all over the resort, running across the dinning room tables and even in our room. The hotel never had clean beach towels, we used the same towels for 4 days. Our sheets and towels were dirty and stained. They constantly ran out of food items and had none left to refresh the menu. Not a great experience. I don't recommend this hotel!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Very Very bad poor or what ever fits best

Very Very bad Dirty no safe no fridge no hot water broken shower head , that is a few things that went wrong in the first room they put us in Second room t wrong in the first room they gave us Moved to second room for the last 12 days of our stay 9 days with same beach towels Some days no clean white towels in the room No lock or latch on the patio door and even after several requests still never fixed we were on the first floor so had to jam it closed with an old mop handle We had paid f [... read more]or a 2 floor pool view room 5 times or more we had to have the room key card replaced as we could no get in this happened again at the worst times I.E. late at night Beach was nice and pools operating fine

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Heavenly!

My group of four girlfriends spent a wonderful 5 days here. Every single staff member is friendly, helpful and always greet you with a smile. The grounds can’t be beat and the resort isn’t too big or small. The beach is phenomenal and the water is sandy and clear. We enjoyed daily yoga class and some of the beach aerobics classes. Housekeeping always did a good job. Balconies are spacious and quiet. Wifi is decent but not strong signal in general, and had to walk to near gym to get a signal strong enough to do a video chat with family back home. We enjoyed all our meals both at buffet and tried all a la carte restaurants. High quality food at this resort and tons of variety to choose from. Bring bug spray for dusk if you plan to eat outside at that time. Ronald was very helpful to arrange a private tour of Havana and we had a great day. Recommend this above a bus tour as he was able to customize the day to what we wanted.

Playa Vista Azul: Not as good as last year

This was my third time at this resort. I’ve always been really happy with it, but it seems to be let go. This time I find the resort has let a few things go. We used to have a welcome drink when we arrived as well as coffee and tea in the rooms. Now they don’t do that anymore. The chairs and table for the balcony is not there anymore. What was on the buffet wasn’t really as good as it was. I have to say though that the staff was as gras always and the rooms are extremely clean. And of course the beaches are exquisite. Unless you’re going just for the beaches I wouldn’t recommend it

Melia Internacional: Hotel

Hotel was beautiful, love the ambiance. Lovely music, entertainment most nights were good. For a 5 star hotel food wasnt good. Too much meat. Dessert- very limited, most was mouse. In modern times a lot of people dont eat too much meat or are vegetarian. There should be a balance. One evening for dinner i ate bread & cheese. Barcelo Solymar: 3 star resort

It was a good resort. We encountered some problems. There was no water at all for the most part of one day throughout the entire hotel. We only had cold showers for the other 6 days. It did not get to 50 degrees at all, more like 40 degrees. There was no hot water. The people were great, the hospitality was top notch. Huge resort and they were keeping up with the up grades. Barcelo Solymar: Resort is general is good; our room was bad!

Positives: location is right downtown, within walking distance of the local markets, rum store, clinic, local restaurants and live entertainment (Calle 62, Beatles Club), Dance Clubs (La Comprisita, Havana Club). Beach is awesome, food is average (always something to eat), A la Carte Restaurants are above average (Seafood, Spanish, and Mexican restaurant). Drinks are delicious! Negatives: our room: bathroom sink leaked for the first 5 days; hot water was luke warm at best (50 degr, not higher). No water for whole hotel for 3/4 of the 6th day due to repairs; Our safe was defective and needed repairs. I called the Service Desk multiple times for the sink leak to be fixed, but the mechanic never showed. They said to stay in the room and wait, but we were on vacation, and could only wait for so long..

Melia Internacional: Great experience

The hotel staff and facilities were excellent. Friendly, great service and overall a terrific vacation experience. Food was good except the beef - that was tough The only bad experience was the air carrier- Sunwing- I will never use them again

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Enjoyable trip

Grounds were beautiful and room was very clean and spacious Pool was clean as well. Food was mediocre but could always find something that we liked The beach was small and crowded. Possibly because of the tide but we did not use the beach for that reason

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Amazing resort

Everything was so beautiful looking for to go back there again it is so beautiful and the beach is so amazing and the staff so remarkable they keep us busy at all time we dance play all kind of game and so nice to walk around at night and the sun is so nice

Playa Vista Azul: Ocean Vista Azul

Overall the hotel grounds were very tidy and the room was quite modern. Pools were well kept and clean. Servers did their best to keep up but seemed to be understaffed. Every meal took at least an hour to get our food and they even forgot some of the order on more than one occasion. Never got our welcome drink or rum bottle even after reminding them twice. The bar service at the privilege pool area was amazing as well. The infinity pool off the lobby is amazing with the view of the ocean. The beach area was nice but sort of small for the amount of people that use it. Need to go early to save a chair or good luck finding a spot. Way too many people reserving spots who are never even there using it.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Cuba

Did not go in with a lot of expectations but had an enjoyable stay at this resort. In talking with other guests going with the “Royal” premium club was a good choice. Just that little more extra service and care and being able to do a la carte restaurants every night was nice. Rooms and grounds were generally well kept. Room had some minor issues related to estheticis and up keep (peeling paint and appeared some water damage to furniture) but comfortable. Starfish Jibacoa: Wonderful place!

The grounds are beautiful and the people are super friendly! Off the beaten path, but really safe, the beach is quiet and you can always find a lounge chair. Don’t go for the food or the entertainment...go to relax on the beach, sit under a palapa, snorkel (if bring your own equipment!) and meet the most wonderful people who instantly make you feel like family. I can understand why people return here again & again!

Grand Memories Varadero: Not so Grand but definitely Memorable

My sister and I vacationed with another couple February 22 to February 29 2020. We selected the Superior Club Rooms, as that would include some perks - bigger room, a club member only lunch restaurant, waiter on the beach, separate seating area at the buffet. Our room wasn’t superior- the patio doors didn’t lock, there was no hot water for showers, no towels. They had coffee makers in the room yet they don’t provide coffee. Everyday they are supposed to clean room and replace towels. No n [... read more]ew towels. The special lunch restaurant had the same menu every day and it wasn’t exactly the best. I would have thought they would have switched it up a few times over the week. The bbq restaurant for lunch by the beach, ran out of food & alcohol. The other bars including the swim up bars, that were available, ran out of alcohol. We didn’t know what alcohol was available, until we walked up to get a drink. No vodka, no tequila and beer. I have never experienced that before at any resort - running out of alcohol. Plus, they were reusing already used plastic throw away cups. The cafe bar in the lobby, that made specialty coffee was good - they did run out of some spirits but made good substitutes The A la carte restaurants were mediocre at best. Italian restaurant was the best out of all. Each of us was sick there and/or afterwards - losing work on the return after vacation. I have to admit that I was very disappointed because the resort had been highly recommended and it had great reviews on trip advisor, before we went and that wasn’t the case at all. We spent a lot of money for the trip and it was a hell week. I am typically not one to complain, as it’s a different country and their standards are different. This week’s experience did manage to remind me just how fortunate we are in our own country. I wouldn’t recommend Grand Memories to a friend or foe.

Hotel Los Cactus: Not a great resort overall

Grounds were clean, staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Food was bland and the same choices everyday in the buffet. Room on the other hand, not so appealing. Large section of mold on the bathroom ceiling, constant drip of water ran down the wall from that section in the ceiling wetting the floor. Told the front desk but they couldn't move me rooms and did nothing to make it more acceptable. Found a bug in my bed, housekeeping didn't replenish much other than bottles of water. Spoke to returning travellers and they said it had hugely diminished in quality over the years. I won't recommend. Hugely Disappointed in my first Resort stay ever.
