Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Tucked away resort

Pros: Renovated property, private beach, beach great for swimming, 30 mins from the airport. CONS: lots of bugs bec of the lagoon around the property, under staffed esp cleaning staff, lacking beach loungers even for diamond club.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Beautiful beach!

Beach was great! Food was good as well. The resort itself is in need of updating but you get what you pay for. Staff friendliness was hit and miss. Nobody bothered us on the beach and our belongings stayed safe when we left our things on the beach.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Very Nice Resort

We were very excited to travel to Antigua as we had never been here before. We chose the Royalton and were excited but concerned due to previous reviews. I would like to say I wonder who wrote those reviews. We were very pleased with everything from the moment we arrived. We were greeted warmly and checked in very efficiently. The grounds were lovely. Everything was very clean. The rooms were very well appointed and the view from our room was great. The staff was excellent. We did not have to wait and we had great service at all of them right down to the buffet. There were plenty of chairs by the pool or on the beach. We did rent the cabana's for the week and it was so worth it. We were spoiled by the service of Sean, Joshua and the grill master Cecila. Would definitely recommend this resort you won't be disappointed.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Great Resort

We were at the Starfish Jolly Beach resort from January 4th to January 11th. The resort is a little dated but the beach makes up for that. The beach is truly breathtaking! We stayed in a Superior room queen and found it wasn’t worth the upgrade. It came with a fridge that wasn’t stocked so waste of money, 2 queen beds (only used 1) so not worth it for a couple. The beach is what you pay for and worth the money. 1.5 miles of pure powdered white sand. The staff were great and were very helpful. If you want bottled water you have to pay for it, go off resort to purchase as it is quite expensive on the resort. Local buses run regularly just outside the resort to take you anywhere for cheap. I would return to the resort again but would not upgrade room for the 2 of us but if you have kids than it may be worth it for the size and extra bed. Great trip and Antigua is beautiful!

St James Club and Villas: All around very good.

Very good quality resort all around. The food is consistently very good at all restaurants. The ocean-facing beach is lovely. The beachfront rooms are right on the beach, spacious and comfortable. Very pleasant staff who take care of your requests and needs promptly.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Amazing Beach

This was our second New Years spent at this resort and once again I had a great time. The.beach is one of the best. Most of the people that work at this resort are some of the nicest people anywhere. They go out of there way to help you have the best time possible. Every day I was able to find one of many umbrellas on this huge beach. If there is  [... read more]one thing lacking, it is the rooms I understand it’s a 3 star hotel with 5 star service but I wish there was more room upgrades available at the time of booking that would include a guarantee of one of the few renovated rooms with the much needed basic amenities. It would be well worth any extra charge to make a perfect vacation.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: Great place for the price we paid

The beach is really nice, a few rocky spots but lots of soft, white sand and about 1.5km long. The water is warm, calm, and clear (no seaweed). The hotel is very tired but clean and small. Some problems in the room but they certainly didn't bother us: only warm water in shower, not much water pressure, noisy a/c. Food choices are pretty basic but the food is actually very good. Royalton CHIC Antigua: I love how cozy and everything is close

The food was really good even though there was not alot of choice the quality was good food. I like that lunch had a variety of food not only burgers and fries. I was disappointed that the a la carte restaurant you had too pay extra for lobster. We ended up not going, they book our dinner the day we were leaving. We went and then they told us we were all booked tonight, that's why they put you there. Not cool. I love that there was no fakeness in people, you get what you see just like kinderga [... read more]rten kids lol. I hate when people aren't real. They were and I loved that about that place. The beach was so close to our room we can hear the waves. I was in love with the sounds. Another big bonus everything is close. The beach, the food and the reception. It was definitely in need of some TLC but for the price and the island it was well worth it.

Royalton CHIC Antigua: worst hotel stay of our lives!!!

Don't fly to this sunwing property on sunwing airlines because you may get their head B---- who will tell you and your crying children that you can't go for lunch until your room is ready but yell if you DARE to try and go out of the lobby until your luggage is in your room (which means you missed lunch ) Never have we been denied services and told it's OUR fault that the airline got us there before the rooms are ready esp. when the airline owns the hotel!!! How does that make any sense? We can' [... read more]t get any answers from sunwing. That's not even close to the end of the shit there. The beach is full of rocks and stones; there is no lunch..just a beach grill of hotdogs hamburgs and fries ( when someone has time to make them; prepare to wait forever for that burger) and mostly cold food at supper! Don't expect any entertainment at any time of the day or night any friendly faces at the resort or even anything pretty to see. To cap it all off just when we were thinking at last we can go home we found ou tthat sunwing once again dropped the ball and FORGOT tosend pickup to the hotel for the airport. The wifi is crap so (it was the head B---- on desk again who refused to call and ask until enough of us went up an DEMANDED she call and then 1 family found a taxi and paid themselves; SHE called 1 taxi for the 11 of us left (4 OF US HAD TO REMAIN) and absolutely refused to call another taxi or allow 1 of us to call one because it wasn't her problem. With 1 hour to go a taxi came an d all of a sudden that fat old bitch was able to leave the counter just to SCREAM at us that it wasn't our taxi (and how did she know that ?) A specisl thankyou to those people and their driver for allowing us to join them; I hope sunwing paid all the costs. We were lucky that they allowed us to check in with 40 minutes to flight-time

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: DIAMOND CLUB

The Royalton Antigua is a wonderful destination. The beach is beautiful, the restaurants are very good, the service is excellent. A word of advice: if you are booked in Diamond Club sit down with your butler and have a conversation of what your expectations are! If you do not have this conversation you will get nothing. With that said, we had a wonderful time here and the service from our butler was good.

The Verandah Antigua: Amazing resort

The Verandah Resort and Spa in Antigua is beautiful resort. Amazins landscaping, food, drinks, stuff, etc...there are two nice and quite with lots of palm trees (shades) in resort. Lots of sport activities like mini/golf, tennis, ping/pong, etc.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Warm and welcoming

The staff jokingly call it the Flintstone hotel ... referring to the way the rooms were built. This resort is 40 years old and some of the rooms have been updated but most of them are original. BUT it doesn't matter because you'll want to spend all your time enjoying the soft sand on the expansive beach and cooling off in the warm ocean or in one of the 2 pools. I can't say enough about the staff - they are warm and welcoming and happy to assist whenever and however possible. The buffet  [... read more]was not as expansive as I've had at other resorts on different islands but the quality of the food was excellent. The homemade local bread and desserts were sooooo yummy! The animation staff worked very hard and long hours to keep people entertained. Would highly recommend this resort.

Jolly Beach Antigua: Older resort with a Wonderful Beach

If you wish to visit Antigua but are on a limited budget the Starfish Jolly Beach is a great way go. The resort itself is very dated and the rooms very small. However, the mile long beach is truly beautiful. The hotel staff, animation staff, and restaurant staff are all really friendly. We had a lovely vacation. If you don't care about the size of your room the Starfish is a great choice.

Pineapple Beach Club: Amazing Resort

Nice smaller resort, everything easily at hand. Pools and beach close to each other. Beach and pool loungers were at a premium and not always available. The first day there we could not find one lounger at the beach or pool, all had towels on them but not necessarily being used perhaps due to unlimited towels available (no card system).Beach area is in a cove so small for a long walk but very clean. Drinks/cocktails were very good and presented with garnishes, . I found all staff sincerely frien [... read more]dly and helpful. Public areas were well maintained and laid out. Food was very good at the buffet with a cultural flare to most dishes. Snack bar food was excellent with burgers, quasadias , sweet fries, onion rings, ice cream. Service a bit slow but they were making everything fresh. We had a waterfront room with an awesome view of the beach and ocean with nothing in front of us but water, excellent! The rooms were adequate, not a lot of storage for clothes and bathroom not overly private to the rest of the room, but clean. We had a great time and were very satisfied with our stay. Highly recommend!

Jolly Beach Antigua: Good value for the money

The beach is the best part of resort.Resort is dated but clean. Food was fine. Some of the servers were not very friendly other staff were great. Staff around the pool were very engaging trying to get vacationers involved but not pushy

Ocean Point Resort and Spa: Good hotel

Small hotel. Large and deep pool. Nice restaurant and bar. Excellent staff. Hotel has two sand beaches. Only thing what we didn't like is rocky ocean bottom. Rooms are OK with comfortable bed. Everything is good for money what we paid. But hotel needs renovation.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Has great potential!

The hotel, rooms, location and beach were great! The beach was clean and the water was absolutely beautiful. We travelled as a group of 20 for a 25 year reunion. Having visited 2 other Royalton properties in the past (St. Lucia and Cancun) with exceptional experiences we had high hopes for this new Royalton resort being the right choice for our gathering. Although the facilities were very nice, service and food were far below our experience at the other Royalton properties. The buffet was reliab [... read more]le and generally delicious. The ala carte restaurants were generally lack lustre. Steaks were generally tough and over cooked and service was spotty at best and wait times quite long. Surf and Turf at the sea food restaurant included 4 small shrimp and 3 little pieces of dried out beef on a skewer. On more than one occasion restaurants ran out of items and the beach bar ran out of certain alcohols, mixers and even beer! Several people in our group up-graded to Diamond Club and the general consensus was that "it was not worth it." The Diamond club areas can and were easily accessed by all guests and service in these areas was no better than the rest of the resort. Our first two days in the Diamond Club beach area were unfortunately very disappointing from a service perspective. Not once were we asked if we would like drinks, we only saw a staff member collecting empty cups once and were forced to go to the bar area to get our own beverages. This really isn't acceptable for an all inclusive "5 star" hotel and most certainly not acceptable for the Diamond Club area of the resort. It should be noted that there did not appear to be a shortage of employees on the property... it simply appeared that they were more interested in talking amongst themselves and looking at their phones rather than attending to guests. There certainly were a few star employees. One example was an excellent waitress at the sports bar who was doing everything in her power to make our 2 hour wait for finger foods such as chicken wings at lunch time pass. She was obviously frustrated with the kitchen staff letting her down when there were very few guests in the restaurant at the time. Unfortunately, we cannot in good conscience recommend this Royalton property at this time. Visit their St . Lucia property instead...it was a night and day experience!

Pineapple Beach Club: LOVE The Pineapple Beach Club!

What a delight to be welcomed to a resort that had everything we needed - sun, beach, all the comforts of kind and caring staff, AND, most importantly, the chance to decompress from all the stress of a challenging year. From the moment we arrived to our last goodbyes, this resort enabled us to rest and recharge our batteries. The only negative that we ended up feeling is time went by much too quickly and next time we'll stay longer than one week!

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Needs some work

The resort was beautiful! The grounds, rooms, pools etc were well kept, nice and clean. The food at the buffet was always good, but unfortunately it was just ok at the other restaurants. The biggest problem was the wait time at the restaurants. Seven of us went to the Score restaurant for lunch one day and I waited an hour and a half for a quesadilla, and others waited two hours for their wings. The overall service was mediocre, some staff were great but generally their was no desire to be accom [... read more]modating. (compared to the other Royaltons we've been too.) We were with a large group, so that did make some things more challenging, but we still had a great time. I think in a couple of years this resort will be great.

Royalton Antigua Resort and Spa: Potential

Grounds were clean and well maintained. Our room didn’t get cleaned one day, even after letting the person at the desk know. There were plenty of staff but many didn’t do much. They were friendly but the level of service should have been higher. The food at the buffet was excellent but very poor food with very slow service at the a la Carte restaurants.
