Memories Grand Bahama: Bahamas man!!

this is a very nice Hotel , clean and modern. The food here is so good!! the Steak house and Japenese!! Sushi!! try them all. nice pool, great beach, most friendly people I ve ever stayed with ! We'll be back next year with a group of us.

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: poor resort not clean, bathroom fan not working.

Restaurants not open most of the time. No live entertainment. Never offered a drink at the pool. Had to line up for over an hour to sign in and had to come back four hours later and line up again for another hour just to receive my room number & key

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: Great Time.

We spent 7 days at Grand Lucayan in Feb 2015. The grounds of this resort are very nice. Pools were lovely but a bit cold- it would have been nice if they were heated. Food was pretty good at all restaurants. Churchill's was included in our all-inclusive package eventhough through SunWing documentation it was listed as not included. The service at Churchill's was a bit disorganized. It seemed the serving team was unclear just who was taking care of us. The appetizers were not so good but the entrée was very good. Our favorite restaurant was China Beach - excellent service and food is delicious. Iries was also good. The buffet was great for breakfast but the food selection at dinner was not very good. The beach is beautiful and was not crowded at that time. All is all it was a good time.

Memories Grand Bahama: Farewell to Grand Bahamas!

Modern room but very sm bathroom. i missed not having a balcony, you must upgrade at booking time. Public washrooms on the property were always clean and stocked. Nice to have a coffee/tea shop for a sweet & beverage between meals at The Bean. Buffet food excellent, steak house(line up for seatings) excellent, japanese(food cooked on hibachi in front of table for 8) excellent & Italian mediocre. Interesting bar next door at Imries...Bahamian music. Almost non existent poolside& beach drink servi [... read more]ce, but multiple bars where u wait to be served. Table service in buffet was mediocre. Beach was tightly packed with uncomfortable lounge chairs...no privacy! Diamond club got reserved area with lounging beds and lounge chairs...but still tightly packed. Temp 70-75F and sunny...perfect in sun but cool in shade at times. Short ride to airport, sm airport with limited services when flight was 3 hrs late! Parasailing in front of hotel $. Day & nightly entertainment was poor and disappointing. Resort lacks the feel of traditional Carribean...would like more Bahamian music! Wedding setup was nice but not private at all! Dangerous step in lobby between 2 marble floors causing falls and injuries. Children had separate play area but water slide closed. Lots of loungers around pools, no problem getting one.The staff were superficially friendly but didn't go at all beyond that...not like in Cuba! We never got the feel that they wanted us back. Only at the time-share booth! Beware of those friendly faces. Rented a care and toured the island for a day...$168 for van for 6. Parasailed in front of resort. No guided tours$$$$. Cold, cold water in swimming pools. Neat grounds. Not too far to walk to everything around the grounds. Walked the beautiful beach.

Memories Grand Bahama: Just okay

The scenery was beautiful. The hospitality lacked, sort if felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. Not the all inclusive; extra water, pop or other beverages are impossible... Unless you pay for it. Pools are not heated or warmed. A LA carte restaurants were great! Good service, great food. Buffet was OK.

Memories Grand Bahama: fantastic place - BUT

The room cleaning crews are exceptional . Everything was very clean . The food was great . BUT , we would not return unless the pools were heated . They were un-useable. ( any colder and they will need to rent skates )

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Viva Wyndham

Beach is amazing. Resort and food less than impressive. Entertainment staff was good. If all you care about is a great beach then this has it but so do a lot of other places. Resort offers shark dive ($) which is definitely awesome!

Memories Grand Bahama: Small resort, but lots to do.

Hotel is old! Rooms are good, nothing fancy. Even the upgraded rooms are not nicer, just bigger. Buffet is not great. Restaurants are great! Service is not good. Not a single server on beach or poolside. Always walk to bar.

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: Nice Resort very little night life

Found the Resort very relaxing. My wife and I thought the property was wonderful but had absolutely nothing in terms of nightly entertainment. we found often while walking in to the eating facilities the staff were grumpy and often fought openly amongst themselves. Churchills was by far the most welcoming however first night we arrived to eat there, an hr before posted closing time we were told we had to order and eat quickly as they were closing early

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Had a nice relaxing time

The resort itself is on the small size which I enjoyed. The resort is not a new resort, but the staff was always cleaning. The beach area is great, but there a lot of rocks, so water shoes are a must. There is a reef off a bit so it is great for snorkeling. The food overall is good, not gourmet. This is not a 5 star resort, so if you are not looking to waited on hand and foot, but just a place to unwind and relax then it is a great location.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Nice resort !

The Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach Hotel was nice, staff was very helpful and accommodating, Jedda at front desk went out of her way to get us a room for a few hours so our little one could nap before we left for the airport, Ricardo the Bellman was very nice and personable, they and all the rest of the staff were great. Pool and beach area were awesome, great views, big size pool and beach was so long you could walk forever and the sand was amazing like walking in white flour it was that soft. The  [... read more]Jacuzzi was very hot unlike most jacuzzi's down south and was quite roomy . The food was very good and there was a good variety of food maybe not as much variety like other 4 or 5 star Hotels I have been to but I could not complain the food was good. Hotel room was clean and beds comfortable maybe not like 4 or 5 star Hotels but again they had all we needed and actually I do remember the bath towels being really soft not like some 4 or 5 star Hotels where they are almost abrasive so in the end some pluses and some minuses but great deal for the money.

I took my daughter to Memories Grand Bahama resort for five days to have a mother and daughter quality time last December for five days and we had a great time there as the resort was in a perfect area!

Memories Grand Bahama: Average Expectations

We were disappointed with some aspects of our stay at this hotel. Upon our mid morning arrival, we were told we would not have access to our rooms until 3:00 p.m. We were advised to select comfortable clothing from our suitcases and change in the washroom and return to the front desk in 4 hours to pick up our room keys. After being up since 1 a.m. the last thing we wanted to hear was that we could not gain access to our rooms until 3:00. This was the case for everyone arriving from Ottawa. Not a [... read more] good way to start your trip. The island view room that we paid for was the top of the hotel roof. We tried to get our room changed but the hotel was not willing to move us. We had trouble with our coffee maker which did not work at all. After 2 failed attempts to get it replaced, we gave up. We had an electrical outlet sticking out of the wall which was repaired right away by the hotel. We had issues with the toilets not flushing properly. They were water saving toilets which we had to flush multiple times just to flush toilet paper. On the positive side, the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was very clean and the food was very good.

Memories Grand Bahama: Average resort

Very clean resort. Closer to shopping. Pools were great never had problem with pool chairs or towels. Always enough. Staff were amazing they were very helpful with any demand. The food was not as great and the check in process needs some changes. You can't let people arrival at 10am and get stranded in the lobby until 3pm. Some of us wanted to go our rooms and have a nap after getting up so early fit the flight.

Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Sun Wing Representatives ruined the whole vacation

The sunwing representatives Gustavo and Tiffany Webb ruined our vacation from the very first hour. The guy who loads the luggage on the bus at the airport broke the handle of our suitcase and threw it in the garbage container. Instead of fixing the problem with the damaged luggage, we had to line up to talk to Tiffany Webb about it every morning while we were staying at the hotel. Nothing has been done for seven days of our staying there. We called Gustavo a few times and he said that there is a [... read more] side handle on the luggage which we can use. On the day of our departure they gave us $40 to replace the luggage and it was only enough to take a taxi to the city to buy a new suitcase for $120 to fly back to Vancouver. Besides that Tiffany Webb indicated the wrong pick up time for an excursion on the tour voucher and when we arrived there, the boat had already gone. Moreover, our names were not among the passengers on the boat. So the receptionist was surprised to see us there and immediately called Tiffany's manager. We had to wait for three hours there for the driver to bring us back to the hotel. Instead of spending time on the beach for the whole afternoon, we spent it on the bus stop. Ther resceduled our excursion and we were waiting in the lobby to be picked up again the next day. It never happened as all water activities were cancelled due to weather. Nobody called us and informed us about it prior. We have never been reimbursed for the prepaid excursion. Tiffany handed the Sunwing customer service form to sign just before the few hours of our departure not to give us an opportunity to dispute it. Gustavo and Tiffany Webb do not deserve to work for the Sunwing as these people don't care about the reputation of this company and instead of making the customers happy and please them, they destroyed the vacation and made us never come back and recommend this hotel to anyone.

Memories Grand Bahama: Not good memoriee

Our room was disgusting. One word. Carpet. The minute we walked in our room the carpet smelled, was damp and just looked old. The bathroom was so tiny. It took 3 flushes to get everything down and smelled of urine in the entire bathroom. The shower was hot! But the shower itself looked gross and not clean. As for the resort itself outside the room was overall nice, food was good, steakhouse was amazing. I would not go back though.

Memories Grand Bahama: Great Family Resort

This resort has it all; great food, friendly staff, comfortable beds and the best beach in Freeport. The vacationers were almost all from Canada - which made the stay friendly and relaxed. The activities were fun and inclusive. Great value!

Pelican Bay: Pelican Bay on Grand Bahama Island

We booked a king size bed suite at Pelican Bay for 7 days. We were very impressed with the space we had--a separate bedroom with a double closet, a kitchenette with a frig, microwave, some utensils,coffee machine, spacious sitting area, also a balcony with a beautiful view. There is a great breakfast included every morning with an omelet of your choice. The staff are very friendly. The special touch is a basket with fruit and muffins left every morning in a slot in your front door. Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach: Fantastic location for family holiday

This is a clean and comfortable resort that caters to families. The price more than matches the provisions. I would go again for a relaxing holiday in a friendly environment. Is a distance from any other activities so you need to rent a car if you want to go to town as taxi is very costly. But everything is here so you don't need to travel anywhere else. Recommended.

Grand Lucayan Breakers Cay: Bad Service, Beautiful Resort

My wife and I, along with our 3 month old visited the Grand Lucayan in Freeport Bahamas from Dec 13 - Dec 20. The plane ride was an early one at 6:15am and we showed up to the resort approx 10:30am - 11am. We were starving. When we showed, we were unable to check in, which would be understandable if the resort was busy, but the resort was very empty. We were advised by the staff that we could use the resort and grab some food at one of the locations on site. When we went to one of the restaurant [... read more]s, they would not serve us as we did not have a room number. We were frustrated so went and bought food at a local restaurant. The room was nice and clean, but we weren't able to check in until late that afternoon. Check in went fine and we eventually got in. There was no water in our room and my wife needs to drink lots of water while breastfeeding. We went to find water and found out that water was NOT included in our so called "All" inclusive package. I have told this to many friends and family and people find it very shocking that we had to pay for water the whole week. Not very all inclusive. I understand the package said meal restrictions and we even inquired about that before purchasing and were only told that sushi was at a cost. Nothing about water and nothing about ice cream, which apparently was also NOT included. we were told that we could use restaurants at the resort next door, which was great, except we got cut off half way through the week, leaving our food choices limited. We were told on the phone when ordering our bracelets that the "contract" had expired, which I don't believe, as we spoke to other guests that were told the resort was at capacity. I don't appreciate being lied to. We did have good service at some of the restaurants, but terrible service a lot of the time. We have never felt more uncomfortable at a resort as we were with this one (aside from the breakfast staff, they were good). As an example, there was a night when we sat down and were served water, thanks, but the server never came back once and asked us for our real drink order. I like water, but I didn't pay for an all-inclusive trip to drink water at dinner. Yes, I could have gotten up and asked a server for a drink, but should I have to?? I just felt the service was bad and we were not pleased. The bartender at the pool could not get my drink right. On numerous occasions, he would get me the wrong mix. It was not a hard drink, rye and diet coke and he couldn't get it right! It wasn't busy, there were mostly 2 people at the bar. There was no entertainment at the resort. Near the end of the week I picked up a pamphlet for the following week and noticed all the events they had planned for that week, but absolutely nothing at our resort……On the way home we were told the bus would pick us up from the resort at 6:45am to take us to the airport. They didn't show until 8am. Sleep that we could have really used. We thought we would grab a sandwich the morning of our flight and the café was supposed to be open at 6am. There was no one there! It was locked and not open. One of the other guests phoned the front desk to request someone to get out there. They eventually came. We ordered and again got the wrong order. It was getting extremely frustrating that we had to sign every time that we ate anywhere or even to grab a beer. I have neat writing, but they kept yelling at me that they couldn't read my room number or name as I wrote it down. So, I had to yell my room number back, frustrating. It was as if our room was going to be charged. We found out by the staff at the location that this resort just recently started doing all inclusive and that most of the staff didn't understand how it would work. All the bills said that our room would be charged 15% service charge. We were not charge but you could imagine how we felt being told that we were going to when we just forked over all this money for an all-inclusive. Our return flight the staff was amazing. But we did have a problem when we landed and we had to wait 30 minutes for our stroller to be given back to us when we were told that it would be there when we left the plane. This was very frustrating considering we have a 3 month old that we had to carry around and wait for the strollers to arrive. The pilots actually went down and got all of the people who were waiting and got our strollers. This should not be their responsibility! But we were extremely pleased that they got it for us cause if they hadn't, god knows how long we would have been waiting. I also want to mention that the pools were extremely cold. We were unable to swim in the pool the whole week being there. We attempted to go into the hot tub, but it was not hot all at, barely bearable too. It was the temp the pool should have at least been at. I would like to say that I don't like complaining, I really don't, but I have to say something cause this was by far the worst vacation and experience we have had since my wife and I started travelling 10 years ago. We like to travel and would like to continue to travel, but I don't really want to pay for a trips with experiences like this and I am starting to question whether I will continue to use Sunwing for my future vacations. There were nice parts to the resort, we just were not very happy a lot of the time. I rated this vacation a fair only because it was beautiful and there were some nice staff, otherwise I would have rated this place poor for sure.
