This resort was incredible! The beach was stunning, the food was delicious, and the service was beyond amazing. We had a wonderful stay and don’t have a single negative thing to say about our experience. We truly loved it and will definitely return. I highly recommend the butler service—it made our stay extra special. Our butler, Alex, went above and beyond to make our stay the best! I was also very impressed that the resort sprayed for mosquitos every night—something I’ve never experienced at a[... read more] resort in Cuba before. It truly made our stay even better, knowing we could enjoy the evenings comfortably

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Excellent Resort for families, groups and couples
Hotel is on isolated island where there is no villages or any sources of noise pollution. Local population does not vacation at this hotel except in very small numbers.
After 2 years hotel still feels new and fresh. Air conditioning is impeccable and so are the bed and the shower.
Internet works all right at the reception but off and on in rooms. One has to understand and forgive internet availability while in Cuba.
We ate well, no shortage of meat and vegetables.
Live music is play[... read more]ed in the dining room every night and rest of the program is modest but very nice and closes at 23:00 so guests can rest.
The beach is spectacular. All employees are wonderful!!!
Since food is important to my group, we were very grateful to cook Roland and his wonderful team grilling meat and fish on one side and preparing pasta on the other. Selection of deserts and fruits are limited but very nice and offered in abandoned. Mango and papaya in August tasted so well.
We ate real eggs, had real milk and coffee and wine and beer . We had everything.
Nautical Club is running perfectly. Entertainment team had aqua fitness in the ocean and some dancing and games on the beach. Activities are normally moved to the pool area in the afternoon.
We all had very nice vacation.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Paradise
This hotel and location was absolutely gorgeous! Perfect getaway in paradise. I’ve been to Cuba many times but it was my husband’s first time and he absolutely loved it. The staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. Husband was not loving the food which was expected but the hotel manager sat us down with the chef and let us know we can go ask him to cook whatever we want if we didn’t want anything in the buffet. He also gave us A la carte dinners for the entire week we were there. Greatly [... read more]appreciated! The rooms were clean and comfortable. Pool, lobby, bars and beach were all clean and comfortable. It was big enough that it never got too busy or crowded in one area even with big families and their little ones around. We will be returning to the same location in the future.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Good resort but had huge bugs in my room
The resort experience was overall good, the workers were very kind and hard working for the most part. However when we tried to book a date for a dinner we were lied to. We were given a false date to eat dinner at the Italian restaurant at the resort but in reality it was the buffet that was only open that day. Negative points for the workers that deal with the reservations, they were unkind and came off agressive after asking them to do their job which was to reserve us a spot at any day for an[... read more]y restaurant. The rooms were okay and the cleaners were very good always mopped the floors and made the beds. A big issue I had was I had 2 big and 2 medium sized bugs in my room. I woke up twice on two different occasions to two huge bugs. One time one was beside me head on the bed and the other time it was on the floor near my bed. Then there was a bug on my balcony covers and also one in my suitcase! I mean it’s crazy that I can’t even keep my suitcase open without a bug wandering its way inside of their. I wasn’t even able to kill it because it ran off from my suitcase into the bed covers once it popped off of one of my shirts. Room 5014 has some serious bug infestation.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Resort needs alot of maintenance
Not alot of variety in the buffet. We only found 3 friendly workers. Bad time to go as the people that live there could go to the resort and it seemed like they were number 1 priority as we had to wait for them to finish talking to each other before we got served. I myself would not go back to this Resort.

Cons
The first 2 days, they had vodka, then none. No vodka all week.
There were no cans of beer for room mini fridge all week.
The green bracelet is for Cubans visiting the resort. Pink is for returning guests. When waiting for drinks at [... read more]the bar, the bartender would serve the green bracelets first. Ignoring other guests, regardless of who was there first.
A guest asked for a birthday cake, and they were charged $45. The cake was dry and did not taste good. All the desserts looked good but were not tasty.
Pros
House keeping, maids, were excellent.
Staff in general were friendly, happy to answer questions, and polite.
Beach was wavy and difficult for me to swim in. When I was there in December, the water was calm, with very small waves.
Pools were clean, and the water was warm. You had to ask a staff member for lounge chairs but they had a lot.
They take Canadian money now!
The buffet always had the same foods but a lot of options. They had clams and mussels. They did not have them in December.
My friend uses a walker, and we got the wheelchair accessible room. It was great. There was a seat in the shower for her to use. She was very happy.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Bumpy Ride but Beautiful Beach
There were a lot of issues with our booking through Trip Central. Our Sunwing package was cancelled three days before our departure (per the resort) and we were forced to rebook at another resort. At first, our second resort option was accepted by Trip Central and Sunwing, then we later found out it was no longer available. So we had to go with our third option. We received no compensation for any of this inconvenience (in fact, I had to pay more money for the new booking). Communication with Tr[... read more]ip Central basically dropped out once they made the new booking and we were left dangling without paperwork until mere hours before our flight. In the end, we really enjoyed the Grand Aston. But I can't recommend booking a Sunwing package through Trip Central. You're better off booking directly with Sunwing. They are more accessible in terms of communication, and more likely to compensate in situations like these (upgrade to an available luxury hotel, vouchers for future tips, partial refunds, etc.).

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Nice Resort
All was good but the food and no hot water for 2 days. Beach was excellent and staff were excellent. The food was very respective, with not much for vegetarian. We had to change room due to the hot water issue, but was given ocean view which made up for the hot water issue.
The Positives: The beach was nothing short of spectacular—soft white sand and warm, aqua-blue water that felt like bath water every time we stepped in. It quickly became our favorite spot to unwind. My husband and I spent the majority of days on the beach/in the water!
We were even fortunate to see a Stingray and a beautiful starfish. So amazing!
The resort staff, especially the entertainment crew, truly stood out. They greeted us with welcoming smiles, organized fun events, and made the[... read more] evenings come alive with music and dance.
We never ran out of anything. Always had bottle water in our room.
Dining was broadly enjoyable. We appreciated the buffet’s variety and found the à la carte options—even though sometimes small—added special touches to evenings out.
Room for Improvement: We experienced some issues in our room—the water pressure in our room was low. It took a long time to wash my hair lol. Other than that it was good.
A notable downside was the number of mosquitoes—bring your best bug spray or repellent, and maybe an extra can!
Bottom Line: Memories Caribe is a charming choice for couples seeking a romantic, laid-back escape. With its gorgeous beach, friendly staff, and lively entertainment, it’s a great value—just come prepared with bug spray.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Lovely resort
I spent five wonderful days here. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. By the second day, the wait staff anticipated my drink of choice. Everything is very well-maintained and very clean. I loved swimming in the three different pools.
My only complaint would be that the map you were given isn’t really helpful and the resort isn’t well sign posted. I needed to watch a YouTube video to find the path to the beach.

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Awesome Experience
This resort is definitely not a 4 star hotel! It is a 5⭐️This is my 4th trip to Cuba and this is the resort I will go to from now on! The food was amazing.. the resort was huge and there weren’t many people at this time. Although it is true that they are missing supply’s on a daily basis. Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Beautiful Hotel But Far from a 5-Star Experience
First off, I want to say that we travel to Cuba often—usually in a group of six or seven—so we’re well aware that things won’t be perfect, and we come with realistic expectations. That said, there are still certain standards you'd expect from a hotel that’s marketed as a 5-star, especially one under the Paradon chain, and unfortunately, this stay was a little disappointing.
The property itself is beautiful—everything (lobby, beach, pools, restaurants) is close together, which makes it ideal for[... read more] people who may not be able to walk long distances. For that, I give full credit. The setting is relaxing, and the layout is great.
However, the service and overall experience fall short of 5-star quality. For Cuba standards, I’d give only the hotel a 5, but service and lock of drinks and food more like 3.5.
Food & Drink:
• The buffet ran out of food quickly and often wasn’t restocked unless we complained. That shouldn’t be happening.
• Wine was only available at the buffet or à la carte restaurants—nowhere else across the hotel.
• The sangria was pre-made and tasted flat; it wasn’t freshly mixed like you'd expect.
Lobster Dinner Disaster:
We paid $150 USD for three lobster dinners, and unfortunately, they were completely inedible. The lobsters were severely overcooked—rubbery and dry—and came with just one small bowl of garlic butter to share. When we asked for more, we were told they had none left. After complaining, they brought us a substitute that looked like salad dressing, and later, butter mixed with onions—but still no garlic.
We ended up wasting the lobster because it was too dry and tough to eat without proper butter. When we raised the issue with customer relations, they refused to offer a refund, not even for a single lobster, and wouldn’t repeat the meal either.
Instead, they tried to make up for it by sending a bottle of wine to our room (which is supposed to be complimentary anyway) and inviting us to a "special dinner" by the pool and beach. To be fair, this dinner was a lovely experience and seemed like something they usually offer returning guests—but it didn’t make up for the lobster dinner disaster or the lack of accountability.
Staff & Service:
Some staff were friendly and helpful—but the bartenders, especially at the pool bar, were quite dismissive. It felt like we were bothering them just by ordering a drink. That’s not what you expect from a 5-star experience.
Final Straw – Late Checkout:
A couple of days before leaving, we asked to keep one room for a late checkout since our flight was in the evening. We were told the hotel was fully booked and it wasn’t possible—this despite the hotel being maybe 25% occupied all week. Later, we found out it was likely in retaliation for our earlier complaints, which made the whole situation worse. Instead of trying to turn things around for us as guests, it felt like they doubled down on being unhelpful.
Final Thoughts:
This hotel looks the part of a 5-star resort, but the service, food quality, and staff attitude don’t match. If Vila Gale Cayo Paredon wants to market itself as a high-end chain, management needs to take guest feedback seriously and train their staff accordingly. Sadly, I don’t think we will return to this hotel, nor would I recommend it as a luxury experience.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Decent Resort
Hotel is modern and nice. Staff friendly except for the front desk staff. They do nothing if you bring a concern. No number to call the front desk from your room.
Rooms for a 2 star rating because there is No hot water ever. Very uncomfortable to take a shower. If you ask the front desk no solution.
Food edible. Lack of varieties. A La Carte restaurants are decent. Almost an hour wait to get a pizza. They had fries twice during a 7 day trip. Barely any choices for drinks. 2 days out of 7[... read more] they had pina coladas which was decent.
FULL of mosquitoes. Bug repellent does nothing. They were fumigating which did not help. Mosquitoes were eating us alive.
Entertainment was good, however no proper theatre. Nightly entertainment was done at the lobby which could not accommodate a large crowd. Barely enough seats. Cannot get a view of the stage depending on where you found a seat. The structures were blocking the view. Super crowded and people smoking everywhere. You are being subjected to second hand smoking.
Location great. Only 25 minutes drive from the airport. Beach is amazing. Rooms are clean. Maids are super nice.
I would definitely NOT go back to this resort as there are better ones even for Cuba’s standards.
This resort was an absolute gem and far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we were greeted with a private airport pickup, the personalized service stood out. Every staff member went above and beyond to make our stay special—from the warm smiles to the thoughtful touches throughout the week.
The food was exceptional—if you dream of having fresh lobster served to you right on the beach every day, this is your place. Whether lounging by the beach or pool, we never had to worry about find[... read more]ing a chair or palapa. While golf carts were available to shuttle guests around the property, we found everything easily walkable.
One of the highlights was the Pirate Bar—fun, welcoming staff and a truly unique spot to watch the sunset each evening from the deck of a ship. Unforgettable.
A special thank you to our butler and the hospitality team for organizing a beautiful private dinner to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Every detail was thoughtfully handled—balloons, a live guitar performance, and a magical setting that made the evening feel incredibly personal.
Our room was spacious, elegant, and well-designed, with two queen beds, a cozy sitting area, two closets, a separate bathroom area, and a fridge—everything we needed and more. The resort was wonderfully peaceful, adult-only, and perfect for unwinding.
We truly can’t wait to return.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Real gem
I have been to this resort 2x and both times it doesn't disappoint. The beaches are clear blue and very shallow. The rooms are clean, and spacious. The toilets have trouble with the flushing, but not a huge inconvience. The resort is quaint with friendly staff.
The food isn't 5 star but it had a good variety. The ice cream was amazing, so we're the eggs and bread. But I didn't come to eat, I came to relax and reset and that's exactly what this resort allowed me to do.
Even though I didn't [... read more]partake, there were a lot of activities and night events.

Melia Cayo Coco: Good times at MCC
We stayed at this lovely hotel for a week in July. It’s an older resort but is constantly undergoing upgrades. We had a second floor room with an updated shower. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. The beach is beautiful with lots of huts. It’s much nicer than the beach at the Melia Costa Rey next door and way less crowded. The food was good, everyone know you don’t go to Cuba for the food but I’m sure it was much better than other resorts. The only thing that didn’t impress us [... read more]was that the espresso and cappuccinos were not great. Usually you can count on a decent cappuccino in Cuba but not here. It tasted like they were reusing the grinds. Overall, we’d come back to this resort if the price was right.
