Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort- 2nd home

Sol Palmeras is an amazing resort. This is my second home, visit 3 times a year. I’ve lost count of how many years I’ve been coming here. Consistently for at least the last 5 years.Family and friends have joined me on many trips here and are now repeat guests also. The staff have become family to us, Odarmis, Caridad, Idelmis and Yahimy to name a few. They have all welcomed us into their lives outside of the resort and love getting to be a part of their families. We love staying in the bungalo [... read more]ws, as they feel more like our little homes. Large living room, updated bathrooms and good sized bedroom. Wifi does work in the bungalows. And you can sit on your porch enjoying your morning coffee. The beach is the best and the longest we’ve seen. Lots of activities offered throughout the day on the beach. There is two pools that also offer activities during the day. The buffet has quite a variety offered and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Ala-carts very with the time of the year. Usually at least three options to choose from. Italian, Chinese, Latin, International, Tex Mex. My favourite is usually the Latin. This is great for couples, families or young adults. There’s something for everyone. If you’re coming from Canada please don’t tip with loonies or toonies as the staff needs to exchange them into bills from guests. The banks do not accept the coins. Bring $5 bills or tip with USD $1’s. Remember that the hotels need tourists to continue to visit the resort and that electricity isn’t an issue. Generators are used if there is any issues with their electricity. Rotating blackouts don’t affect Varadero as they have their own substations. Hope this review helps to clarify any confusion when deciding on which hotel to choice. Sol Palmeras should be the choice! Can’t wait to be back in November!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Amazing beach & property..but the entertainment not so much!

Our flight, airport, bus transfer and check in were easy. The food was really good (minus the Italian a la carte..it was almost inedible), but the buffets, snack bar and other a la cartes were all very good ..the Cuban soup was delicious!! The beach was so pretty, the sand was white, entry into the ocean was smooth, water was warm and clear. The entire resort was well maintained and the buildings look in good condition. The rooms are very old and dated, but we weren't in there much, so not a big deal. The beds could be bigger, they were a double. Overall we loved a lot about the resort, but we would never go back and the reason is the entertainment....it was very disappointing in all aspects. There was one day of beach/pool entertainment which lasted 20 minutes, there was pretty much no lobby entertainment and that is huge for us. The actual evening entertainment was pretty bad, not worth walking to it. Also, this didnt really matter to us, but there weren't many English speaking people at the resort ..the guests were mainly from Peru, Argentina, Brazil and Russia...we didn't meet any other Canadians, which was different.

Melia Internacional: I expected more for the price

Great hotel rooms and sights perfect maid was perfect also few issues taken care of but one that was not handled properly lady was rude.Grounds and beach fabulous Snack bar lia staff exceptional they were all great Real bad issue the food as no real eggs just liquid eggs no sausages or potatoes..I only saw hash brown pucks in the morning and hard like pucks to eat food is below average considering we spent near 5 grand for 2 Melia you need to do better with that aspect like other hotels much ch [... read more]eaper than yours provided unfortunately wont be coming back..We have been to Cuba at least 20times 3 stars to 5 and this was not up to a 5 star

Sol Cayo Coco: Awesome Trip and stay

My Family and I had a great stay at Sol Cayo Coco. The staff were all fantastic; the beaches were awesome. We enjoyed snorkelling, and the kids spent a great deal of time in the pool. Our hotel room was clean from the start until the time we left. A lot to choose from at the buffet, and the hotel grounds well kept and maintained. I would recommend this Resort to anyone. My family and I felt safe

Melia Costa Rey: Amazing resort This resort

This resort, is just fantastic in every way, beautiful rooms,pools,beach,restaurants,people,everyone can’t do enough to make sure you have the holiday of a lifetime,the only thing negative thing is repetitive food menu. This was our second visit here.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort

This was my second time travelling to this beautiful place. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the resort is so immaculately kept!! The food is very good! There are alot of different things to choose from. Lots of cold beer and various cocktails are available too! The service is excellent!! I feel very safe and comfortable when I am here and have already booked my 3rd trip for November.

Melia Costa Rey: Melia Costa Rey Vacation May 10-24, 2025

The hotel was great. Nice bedroom grounds were well taken care of. The ala cartes were excellent. The only concern i had was that the elevator was broken. For those that have mobility issues this would be a concern. The entertainment team during the day were great, as was the shows at night. Meals at the buffet were good. Seafood from mussels, clams, shrimp and fish were excellent. As well as the meat pork, chicken were also good. There was always something to eat.

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing vacation!

We were many times in Cuba, and Cayo Coco particularly, but it was our first visit to this resort and certainly not the last! Our vacation was amazing! Every moments of this trip was perfect! The site is beautiful and the beach is stunning. All the staff was incredibly welcoming, smiling and helpful. Melia Internacional: Great Resort!

Great service, very friendly staff, place is amazing. we have enjoyed our stay in the resort, lovely people, great weather and many activities every day on the beach and in the evening as we have many entertainment stations in the hotel between singing, dancing and lots more. Love this place.

Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort and Vacation!

We had an amazing vacation at Sol Palmaras. From the moment we arrived to when we checked out this hotel exceeded all our expectations. The hotel is gorgeous and the entire complex is kept clean by hardworking staff. We had an updated room and it was great, very clean and well decorated. And had 110v plugs so we didn’t need to use our adapters. We are pool people so we spend most of our time there, there was lots of loungers and shade around the pool. The service was amazing, the staff is friendly and helpful and they always greeted us with a smile. The food was all around probably the best we’ve had in Cuba, a lot of choices in the buffet, we had no problem finding something to eat. We ate at 2 a la cartes (Chinese & Mexican) and they were both really good, so definitely try them if you go. Two things we recommend doing while there is visiting the city of Varadero and going on the excursion that takes you to 2 caves, the first one you get to explore an underground cave and the second is a swimming cave. We had such a good time on this excursion and will never forget it. We definitely recommend this resort and when we go back to Varadero we will be staying here.

Melia Las Antillas: Melia Las Antillas

The Resort is older and it needs updating, the staff are all awesome and make the best with limited resources. The room was cleaned when required the maid was good at giving us what we needed. The pool was ok it could also use some updating. The Beach is why we came here it was amazing, easy to swim in soft white sand . The weather was 34c everyday and we had no rain.

Can’t wait to go back! I had never gone to Cuba before I did not know what to expect. I wanted a beautiful beach. And knew the food would be ok. I must say I have never had that good of sleep in a hotel before usually takes a couple days to adjust. That was not needed Staff: all were so friendly and helpful we did have our favourites but all were amazing AMAZING: beach , water, and amazing options shade and beach experiences. They had all kinds of toys to borrow if you wanted activity there was yoga and dance etc. if you wanted rest there were so many options. The property was huge since we went in may at times we felt we had the resort to ourselves because there were so many options people spread out. I was wowed by the beauty of the clear water and white sand. Water was warm. I could have stayed there forever. Like all things there are things can be improved Food: knew was going to be limited but breakfast was always great. Snack bar pizzas were our go to lunch. Dinner was hit and miss. Did not find buffet great. My favorite was the Japanese restaurant. Some things need some updating but overall the resort is beautiful and well maintained. Maybe have a couple more bathrooms open Bus ride: it was long almost 2 hours but the remote location and beach more than made up for it Tips: Money; if Canadian. If tip coins offer to change back to bills for them. They can’t exchange the coins at bank. Also bring extra bills as staff appreciates if you can change coins they have Snacks: bring snacks maybe some peanut butter or easy to eat stuff to offset any times you need a little more I would recommend this hotel on the beach alone. I will be going back. Already planned which rooms we would like better and where on resort we want to stay!

Melia Cayo Coco: Our favourite vacation!

We had an amazing vacation at the Melia Cayo Coco. The beach is the most beautiful we have ever been to, the rooms are well kept and clean, the food is very good and flavourful especially for Cuba, lots of selection, our favourite was the Italian a la carte, it was delicious. The drinks were also very good, lots of selection. We did not notice any shortages. The resort in general is very well maintained with many improvements/renovations. Melia Jardines del Rey: A Memorable Stay with Room to Improve

We recently returned from a stay at Meliá Jardines del Rey and overall, we had a really enjoyable vacation. There’s a lot to love about this resort, and while a few things could be improved, the positives far outweighed the negatives for us. **Let’s start with the good stuff** — and there’s plenty! The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful, with well-maintained gardens and direct access to a stunning beach. One thing to note — the front left side of the beach is quite rocky, so we definitely recommend bringing water shoes if you plan to swim there. However, if you head further to the right side of the beach, the shoreline becomes much sandier, making it easier to walk into the water. Just keep in mind that there are sandbars in that area, so the water tends to stay shallow — usually only ankle to knee deep — for quite a stretch. You’ll need to walk out a bit farther to reach waist-deep or deeper water. Great timing for us to come because there were always palapas to pick and lounge chairs anytime of the day. The pools are expansive and clean, offering both quieter spots and more lively areas depending on your mood. The **entertainment team deserves a big shoutout**. They were friendly, energetic, and worked hard to keep guests engaged with activities throughout the day and into the evening. From beach games to live shows, we had a lot of fun — never a dull moment if you’re open to getting involved. Special mention goes to Ailyn and Adalberto who made one of the best night event possible and fun! Would have loved to have dance night every night at the Mojito bar to keep the action going. As for food — you **will not go hungry here**! Between the buffet, snack bar, and pizza bar, there's always something to eat. Excellent pizza! Buffet can be repetitive but try not to indulge in all the food in one day. Pace yourself out so try something new each day. We especially enjoyed the à la carte restaurants, it added a nice change of pace and felt more personalized. There's always a choice for everyone. That said, there are a few areas for improvement. The room was very clean, but the bathroom could use some updates, better lighting, and a more efficient toilet. We had minor maintenance issues—mainly with the door lock, which didn’t always work properly. Though staff responded quickly, it still required a bit of a workaround. The balcony door lock also failed on our last day, but it wasn’t a major issue as we were checking out. On the bright side, housekeeping was excellent. Special thanks to Leah and Leesandra for keeping the room spotless and the fridge well-stocked. Despite these minor issues, we truly had a great time. The **staff were warm and welcoming**, and it’s clear they work hard to make sure guests enjoy their stay. If you come with the right expectations — a beautiful setting, variety of food, and lots of fun — you’ll have a wonderful time. We would definitely return, especially knowing what to expect. With a few small tweaks, this resort could easily become exceptional.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great value resort

The resort was quiet as we were late in the season, but still provided a lovely, relaxing stay. The grounds were well kept, food areas were clean, beach and pool provided welcome respite from the 30 degree days. There were some shortages of food and drink, but not enough to take away from the hard work of the staff to make things as nice as possible.

Melia Cayo Coco: Another Great Stay

This time we stayed in one of the refurbished rooms and everything was just great. The grounds are kept in great shape also. We were happy to see the staff again and they treated us like family. One slight drawback from past visits was no coffee in the room due to supply problems, I would presume. They did have a kettle and tea bags so bring a jar of instant coffee if you wish a morning coffee before venturing out in the morning. Paradisus Los Cayos: Beautiful Resort But,

Upon arrival, the resort attempted to extort $250 from us for a swim-up room. However, we discovered that the swim-up pool is accessible to guests from the second and third floors. Throughout our stay, we were plagued by cockroaches, resulting in poor sleep and discomfort. Despite booking a room on the reserve side, we were denied access to a balcony bed, as advertised on the website. The bed sheets were never replaced, and the resort reused the same sheets. Furthermore, our daughter exper [... read more]ienced coughing fits due to the presence of mold in her room. The resort’s cleaning practices were inadequate, as they dumped dirty cleaning water into the swim-up pool. The resort lacks any entertainment options. We were forcibly removed from the disco after our daughter joined us, despite the fact that she was merely having fun dancing. After the shows, the resort appears to abandon its operations. I urge you to address these issues promptly to improve the quality of your services.

Just returned from Melia, level up family. Week was perfect. Weather was 34^ It was great! Food was good. Al la carts were delicious. Beach was incredible. Rooms are very nice. My only concern was my phone didn't work so we couldn't take advantage of the room service or contact concierge. We feel we didn't get the full advantage of the level up service.

Highly Recommended Resort - Staff is amazing , Pools and Beaches are fantastic and the food is excellent . Very Very Clean resort . You are able to have the best of both worlds - Relaxation and fun when you want .

Melia Cayo Coco: No shortages here

We went in the first week of May, a short 10-minute bus ride from the airport. It was amazing, great, brown eggs made to your liking, bacon sausage pastries, lots of fruit, watermelon, mangoes, melons, and papaya. Pasta, fish, pork, beef, crab and chicken in the buffet. Pizza is excellent at the pool bar. Lots of renovations have taken place. Entertainment was excellent. It is not a party resort, it is great for a quiet and relaxing vacation. We will return
