Very good resort

Hotel very clean, well kept. Friendly staff, helpful. Food was good. Only downside was venders on the beach. As well as trying to be sold more trips through "circle one" very pushy and use the guise of "hotel information" to get you to talk to them. Advice: Decline any propositions unless you are interested. Excusions were fun. We booked one through air transat, and one through beach vendors. Both were fine but transat was put more professional. Great vacation overall.

Good Value

Rooms do not have balcony's or chairs but are clean and well decorated. Beach long and clean and pools are nice food was good restaurants were very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Overall I would recommend

Great Value

The hotel is very nice. Staff keep it very clean. It has some of the nicest people working there. Animation crew keep everyone involved in what was going on. They try very hard to make sure that everyone has a wonderful time. The pools are extremely clean. The food was excellent lots to pick from.

A good value adult resort

This was our 4th trip to the Villas Doradas and we have seen 3 renos. The resort is very clean with a definite pride of ownership. My major beef is that there is a large section of "better" rooms reserved for time share guests versus regular paying clients. If possible we would like to be able to receive CNN and a Canadian TV channel. With the large number of Canadian guests they should be able to mix Caesar's. The selection of food is great and the Jade Garden is a beautiful restaurant with exc [... read more]ellent food vs. the old Chinese format. The small pool beside the Spa should have the bar re-opened for the 4-8pm crowd with some bar snacks and some bar stools. Something that definitely needs to be changed is the beach vendors. Unless these people are resort employees then get them off the property. There is vacant land next door to the east and that is where they can gather, not mingled in front of your beach guests. We receive an insessant noise from this group that is completely inappropriate for the paying guests. There is a wonderful carring staff that is probably underappreciated by the guests.

Great getaway!

Got there in the afternoon. Was told to go eat lunch at the buffet and then the room would be ready which it was. Stayed on the third floor of building 5 which is good and quiet. AC worked amazing. Beds were great. Safe was included in our package. Was told we'd receive a bottle of rum which we didn't have in the room when we arrived but we told Guest services about it and then they brought it. We had water provided everyday in the room. Most of them were gallon bottles which really helped with  [... read more]the heat. They also gave two cans of beer and two pops which were free the first time. If you wanted more, you'd have to pay but drinks at the bar were free. They had one cash bar in the lobby which was a waste of space but there were still people at the bar buying drinks (doesn't make sense to me). Had some water issues one day where the water just stopped but it was the whole building which they fixed really quickly. Have to pay for Wifi. We got the 25 hour Wifi deal which costed a little over a 1000 pesos which we didn't even finish using during the week. Daily buffet was great. Staff at the buffet work really hard and are still pleasant. Ended up making a lot of staff friends there. Not sure why people write reviews saying the food sucks but we loved it. In the morning there was an omelette station and then a pasta station during the day/dinner. There is always something good at the buffets for breakfast lunch and dinner. And if your not a fan of trying new food then you can eat at the snack bar where they always have cheese pizza, fried chicken, fries, rice and beans, burgers and hot dogs. There were three a la carte restaurants. The seafood and oriental restaurants require guys to wear long pants and no tank tops as their dress code which is pretty stupid considering how hot and humid the weather is. I understand they are trying to create an atmosphere but c'mon, its over 35C all day, every day and I'd rather not wear long pants but such is life. Beach was great. Felt like you could walk along the beach forever. Tonnes of vendors there selling things like excursions, necklaces, wraps, henna tattoos, massages, manicures, pedicures. We are used to saying no to vendors so by day two or three they stopped asking and bugging us however they work from 8am to 5pm everyday in the heat, walking along many resorts so have some sympathy for them. Beach bar was very convenient (snack bar in the same location) and they make great drinks. At night the same bar becomes the clubbing area. There is no actual disco. On the weekends the locals kinda take over the resort but hey, they need a vacation too. Didn't spend too much time at the pools but they were very clean looking. There is one pool bar where people sit in the water and drink, not sure how often they leave the pool to go to the bathroom so you get idea. Gym was basic, has a treadmill, elliptical and recumbent bike. Also has dumbbells up to 50lbs, a couple of exercise balls and stretching mats. Same area was the spa (didnt go) and a smaller pool/jaccuzi. This was a non-smoking area where there was a coffee machine (great) and a couple juice machines,all free. The resort on the whole looked great, workers maintaining all day, every day. Very clean everywhere. Pools were cleaned daily. The buffet was decorated differently everyday based on their themes.

food was great, even better in a la card restaurants, witch is not always the case. it is the first time we spent more time at the sandy beech then the pool, was great. the only one thing, if you like crowdy, lots of people place? it is not for you

Great Place for the value

I loved the hotel and the grounds, the welcome was very nice. They give you a cold towel to use and some ice tea. this was a nice touch. I been to DR several times and i find this hotel very nice and cozy. The food was great and the service was excellent! i would go back. the only problem i had was with housekeeping, they cleaned my room only 1 time in 4 days even when i requested it they did not come to clean. otherwise this place is great!!!

BlueBay Vaca

First time here and first time at an all inclusive for me...what a time!!! Four of us went for a week and we were a bit worried after reading some of the reviews but we had an awesome time! The staff is OUTSTANDING...OUTSTANDING! Check in was easy and we were ready to hit the beach. The vendors are also ready for you but if you just say No Thanks they aren`t too bad...it wasn`t very busy there at this time of the year so the vendors were a little more hungry for business but never unpleasant and [... read more] after a day or two they knew if you were going to buy or not. Chairs and the little grass huts down on the beach are wonderful, we enjoyed the sun, sand, surf and a drink or two from the beach bar. The pool bar was a happening place, music, laughs and drinks quickly ready for you to enjoy. The chairs at the pool could stand to be replaced..some ripped and some had the bar at the bum area sticking up which was hard to sit on if you wanted to read. FOOD..lots and lots of food, felt like we were always eating and traveled with two vegetarians and they never had any problems finding something to their liking. The staff in the dining room was quick to fill your glasses and take your dirty dishes and always with a pleasant greeting. Everyone is so friendly and the entertainment team is AMAZING..had so much fun and laughs. I am going to say the place could use with a little updating, pool tiles need fixing, pool needs a little cleaning, rooms need a little updating and some good quality pillows would be a plus we all suffered from some sore necks from the pillows. We never had any bugs in our room but there was a smell of sewer that could be smelt every once in awhile that was a little off putting but we weren`t in our room for the whole trip but it did make us wonder why that smell would fill our room. Free WiFi...an all inclusive should include everything ...including WiFi...it would have been nice to stay in touch with home with the use of free WiFi. Bring some small bills with you because no where on the resort can you get any bigger bills changed and if you bought something in the beach hut you were given peso and if you didn`t want them they always said they had no american dollars. I think it was a wonderful vacation and would not hesitate to tell anyone to go there for a good time...I know we all had a great time and will be back!

So so average

This place is nothing like it claims to be. The only saving grace is that the staff are incredible. I have traveled a lot i've never encountered staff like this. Every employee was willing to help you or direct you to what you needed. If you're a couple, this would be really chill place to hang for a week.

Excellent Resort

The Blue Bay is a beautiful resort. The grounds are clean and well kept. The dining is great. The beach is a wonderful place to see the sunrise and spend the day under your palapa. It is an adults only resort. People from all over the world are there and we met some fantastic people. This was our second visit and we will certainly be going again.

Loved it

Awesome...very relaxing...loved the room and our location. Service was excellent... just a very good vacation. Loved it!!! Weather was awesome. Had a massage which made our vacation that much better. Lots of activities to chose if you want to. Just loved relaxing by the pool and taking long walks on the beach.

Truly a pleasant vacation

the food was outstanding and the staff attentive . the room was spacious and comfortable quite. i took my first tour off a resort and was totally elated with the scenery and the people. there were 8 of us in our party and while we had great fun together the resort was large enough to find quite time alone.

Beautiful Resort

for its age the hotel is beautiful.Its very clean and tidy.The staff are very friendly and courteous.They would go out of their way too help you.As for the food its the same as everywhere you are not going to like every thing but to be hungry would be your own fault.It was delicious.Were definitely going back..

80% Pleased

80% Pleased. Food was not the best, rooms were ok. Beach was good, bars were good, entertainment was good. All excursions were very good. Staff were very accomadating and friendly. Next time our group travels, I will do my best to convince them to do a 5 star and do it in Puenta Cana.

Excellent place for vacation.

We had a great time. Well keep place staff where amazing. The only thing that I had an issue was the Le carte were not all free. It was an all incluse vacation but 2 of the dinners. The best food on the menu you had to pay for. The Japanese restaurant was amazing and all free.

Great food

We really enjoyed this resort, but the best part was the food. I have never seen such a selection in my life. And the quality was the same. The resort is a bit too big so there is too much walking to get to the beach and food, but that was the price too pay for quiet. A nicer view would be good too. Bottom line, we would love to come back.

A great place to just relax

Keep in mind this is a 4 start Dominican rating, if you go knowing what that star offers, you will not have too many unexpected surprises. The hotel entrance is very welcoming and so are the staff. Everyone there is very friendly, and they all provide service with a smile. The buffet restaurant offers something for everyone with good quality food, the breakfast omelette bar was a big hit. There are 3 a la carte restaurants and I would rate them in this order: the Asian restaurant is first, then  [... read more]the seafood restaurant, and lastly the steakhouse. You have to pay for wifi, I bought $25 for 25 hours, which was enough for 2 people. The umbrellas at pool were a hot commodity, people would come out at 6:30 a, put there towel on a chair beside the umbrella and leave for 2 or 3 hours, the hotel says not to do this, but nobody seem to stop them. The pool area could be a little cleaner, but I have seen worse. The beach was nice and there was always a place to sit when we went down. The Gym is like a small home gym with only 4 pieces of equipment; a treadmill, elliptical, and a bike along with some free weights (some were missing). The animation team are very entertaining and energetic and of course friendly. If you are looking for a vacation to kick back, sit in the sun, relax, drink, eat,dance and/or relax, then this is the place for you!.

Beautiful Resort

The foliage was the best part. Special lighting, textiles and accents made this resort feel luxurious. Lost a beach bag with camera, cell phone and wallet.. all was returned home two weeks after trip!

Amazing Time, Amazing Dining Staff

Although we had a few glitches upon arrival and for the first few days, mostly with the desk staff regarding our room (we were to get a balcony) and safe (it didn't work for 3 days), overall we are very happy to say we were MORE THAN PLEASED with the staff in the dining room, in particular Pedro Hernandez who went over and above the call of duty to make our holiday, dinners and evenings stand out. As well as all the other staff, an all around great bunch. ;0)! The food was always quite good and a wide variety to choose from. We were very impressed with the selection and freshness. We enjoyed our lunches at the beach restaurant, very yummy chicken. We also enjoyed our A La Carte dining experience at the Chinese Restaurant & look forward to trying the other A La Carte restaurants on our next visit. The entertainment/activity staff were also very friendly and fun to watch. We enjoyed their enthusiasm and presentation of various activities. The New Year's Eve dinner, show and music were absolutely amazing as were the fireworks. We danced the night away on the beach until 3:00 am. with no shortage of bubbly. Sam and I experienced our best New Year's Eve ever. Thank you for such a wonderful evening & great memories. The bar staff was always very accommodating and most were very friendly as well, always keeping us smiling and never dry lol. The swim up bar and beach bar staff were especially friendly. The beach was great as was the water. Every day we walked along the beach visiting neighbouring resorts and noticed that ours', Blue Bay, was the nicest beach of all. The staff on the beach were always accommodating, always finding us chairs if we couldn't find one. The only drawback was the constant popping up of peddlers on the beach selling things, we would be approached at least 10 times a day. The resort itself was very clean and well maintained. The pool area was very nice and the pool was always kept clean. The rooms were neat and tidied daily. On a few days however we did not get fresh face cloths/towels, soap and shampoo. Overall, we would definitely recommend this resort to our friends and we would like to come back ourselves. We are thinking however that we would like to look at a Villa, if not a Villa definitely insist on a room with a balcony with less stairs. We enjoyed our stay immensely, met some great new friends.
