Great place to relax - not party

This is not the most luxurious hotel we've stayed at in Cuba, however we found it to be one of the most peaceful settings. Low rise hotel (under 200 rooms) on the beach with a good reef for snorkeling and mountians in the background. Good servers - very pleasant. Food was 'okay' with limited options (likely due to smaller size of resort). If you're a food snob - don't come here. End of beach near guard house needs some cleaning up too. Very peaceful pool (spa music environment). Close to Havana  [... read more]- spares you hours on a bus/plane. Great value at this hotel for the price paid.

Superb retreat!

This was our second time visiting this resort; and we love it! Everyone is very friendly, from the ground keepers, to the dining staff to the dive center. Special kudos to the dive center; the staff there are outstanding!

Fantastic Vacation

Friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms. When we arrived we were greeted with a smile (11:00 p.m.) A porter showed us to our room, and to our surprise and pleasure we had been upgraded to a suite with kitchen and separate bedroom. 2 bathrooms. There was lots of variety in the food, and all was hot and fresh.

Lovely spot

Enjoyed memorie jibacoa very much but flying with sunwing was terrible.Have taken many trips and can say without a doubt. That sunwing is terrible. It is too bad that I order to get a package deal for memories jibacoa you have to fly without wing.they really need to remove a few sets nod smarten up with their food. My travelling friends spent extra money for the elite, what a joke. When they arrived inHalifax their bags were the fourth for the last to come off the plane. Peace and quite

My wife and I enjoy the smaller size and friendly staff at this resort. This was our tenth visit. No line ups for food or drinks. Close enough to Havana for a day trip. Good snorkeling. We plan on returning next year.

Terrific resort

everything was great, rooms, service, food was great, also entertainment every day and night, beaches and snorkeling were awesome, great pool with activities every day, also mountain climbing and tennis with lessons

This one is definitely a go back place.

The most amazing thing was the snorkeling. No arrangements, no extra costs, just get up out of your chair, don your gear and walk out. It was so entertaining. The resort is not too big so that getting around to the common areas were not a daunting task in the heat. The staff was of the friendliest we've experienced. The resort is close to where people actually live, so we could just walk out of the resort and go for a walk up the road and meet people. It does need a little bit of modernizing as  [... read more]far as updating with linens and decor but everything was so clean and well cared for. We had a great trip and wished we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful Resort

Was worried that since it changed hands from Breezes to Memories it wouldn't be as good, but was pleasantly surprised! Lots of upgrades going on, food was good & entertainment good as well (other than the "never-ending Memories" theme song!). The picturesque location is one of the nicest I've been to. I would highly recommend this resort!

Location between Havana and Veradero, big rooms,

small resort, big rooms, nice resort, clean, entertainment is pretty good, I have stayed at the resort 8 times from the year it was build, overall the food was better in my first visits than it is now.

Friendly resort but needs upgrading

We stayed at Memories Jibacoa on April 4-April 11. Once we arrived, we noticed how beautiful the location is, it's literally in the mountains which you see from the pool each day. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. The rooms are kept very clean, and the gardens and grounds are well maintained and beautiful. The resort appears to be a tired 3-star, not a 4 star. Things that need upgrading are: The gym (needs air conditioning and an expansion), the buffet is not as healthy and extensive as o [... read more]ther resorts, although I found food to eat, my belly got upset there and it did not return to normal for two weeks later. I wondered if filtered water is being used to rinse the vegetables. The a'la cartes are just adequate, with the exception of the Italian restaurant, which was excellent. The chairs on the beach are quite uncomfortable, and could use upgrading. The ladies on the front desk did not always speak English, but they were very nice and friendly. We noticed some upgrading and building going on, but it did not interfere with our stay, and was kept very quiet. The entertainment was almost always very well done, and enjoyable, however, the Piano Bar was a dissapointment, we thought there would be a piano player there all evening, and it would be more interactive and animated by staff for sing songs. It would be great if they could improve this, maybe it needs to be re-located so people find it easier. Our Sunwing Representtaive was very helpful and friendly, and worked hard to made sure we were satisfied. She did everything she said she would do, and we really appreciated this support when we were there. In a few years, we would consider returning to this resort, once they have done some upgrading.

Wonderful Resort!

This area of Cuba is a great place for snorkeling and scuba diving - my partner and I snorkeled every day and the coral reefs were amazing! I am not a certified diver, but my partner is and he went on both a shallow dive and boat dive. The diving staff were great and the equipment is brand new. He had a fantastic time! We also loved all the staff at the resort - they are super friendly and wonderful to talk to. Food is pretty good for Cuban resort food. I definitely didn't go hungry! Relaxing, Peaceful Resort.

Beautiful quiet resort set on a coral reef. Small and peaceful, everything you would expect from a beach resort vacation. Dive shop right on site. The beach is actually set on a coral reef and is amazing for snorkeling. Just changed owners so a few hiccups in the buffet , like things werent getting replenished when empty but all quality food and safe water. The staff is what truly makes this place. Great Resort, Amazing Staff

If you enjoy a smaller resort with a warm vibe in a rural setting its hard to beat this one. The staff are awesome and really make this resort standout. The resort itself is very good with lots of great amenities, a hard working entertainment staff, and a beach with loads of marine life feet from the waters edge. The beach has a fair bit of coral in the sand which makes it a little rough underfoot, but the reef right offshore and all the fish that call it home made that a worthwhile trade off. T [... read more]he buffet and a la cartes are very good, and the roomes are spacious and clean. Really what more could you want at this price point? This was my 9th carribean vacation and by far the best value of all of them.

Beautiful resort, great location

Well maintained grounds, generally quiet resort, very nice people, good organic food, good food service, exciting entertainment, gorgeous mountain view, nice pool. Missing: pool bar, drinks (soft, alcohol and water) in the room fridge.

Friendly resort in tropical intimate setting

This was our third stay at Memories Jibacoa amidst lush tropical palm filled gardens, with the ocean on one side and hills immediately behind the resort. Amazing snorkeling experience on the reefs 20 feet from the water's edge in shallow waters, perfect for novices, and deeper areas by swimming farther out. The pool area is beautiful. The recent change in management has resulted in an improved buffet with a much wider assortment of foods to please any palette. Very friendly and genuine staff thr [... read more]oughout the resort. We loved the daily 09:30 slow stretch sessions led by instructor Kenya. She also teaches an aerobics class in the afternoon. The masseuse in a discreet lattice lined enclosure right on the beech is awesome.

Relaxing, but the hotel is not for young couples.

We went on our honeymoon to re-coupe and enjoy the sunshine. The hotel is in good condition, clean and above what you would expect from Cuba. We enjoyed every aspect of our vacation EXCEPT......everybody there was either above 60, or didn't speak English. Although we enjoyed the resort through and through, it really would have been nice to meet other young honeymooners. We wanted to escape the spring break crowd as it is too loud and rowdy and would have ruined our vacation, but this was in the  [... read more]complete polar opposite direction, which is too bad that it doesn't attract more newlyweds as they went the extra mile for us and upgraded us from a standard ocean view room to their tropical suite for free just for that reason! A few people who made our stay a great experience: Kiki who is the lead bellman- he speaks really good English, and he will help you with anything you need! Joe (la girasoles) He was our server for almost all of our dinner services, really great, nice and funny man. Our cab driver and personal tour guide Jeraldo(Jerry), great English, great conversationalist, and very honest, came recommended by Kiki.

Beautiful Resort!

The scenery is amazing, the beach on one side and the mountains on another. The pool is absolutely beautiful. The food was pretty good, the rooms were spotless and cleaned everyday. The staff was exceptional! I would definitely recommend this resort to a friend and will definitely coming back to visit the resort again!

Best of Cuba

Hotel is clean and maintained well. Food is good and the location is 45 minutes to Havana and 30 minutes to Mantanzas. This is quiet and a smaller resort with the best staff I have experienced in my travels. We were there a 2nd year in a row and all the staff remembered us and welcomed us back like family.

The people who work here make the resort amazing

Very average resort, it is clean and well kept. The food was average, better than expected. The entertainment and activities were excellent. We enjoyed the hike in the morning, hobbicat sailing with guide twice, tennis lessons three times, car racing on the beach , darts. Off the resort we were set up by staff to go to Havanna, the crocodile reserve and bay of pigs all in a 1951 cadillac with driver and english speaking guide ,a great experience. Beautiful sandy beach with shade and great snorkling.The staff at this resort go out of thier way to make your stay exeptional.
