Nice Resort

Overall it was a great place, the main pool was in need of updating, while the VIP pools looked new and clean. Main pool was always too crowded. The food was fantastic, lots to choose from and the fruit art was amazing each day. The beaches were wonderful, cleaned daily as were the lounge chairs. The staff were wonderful all around. Our room was nice, with the exception of the mini fridge which did not work the entire week.

Nice resort

I loved everything about the be live collection resort, lots of entertainment. one problem we had was the service! The service was not good, very slow at everything even with Cleaning our rooms every morning. Was times they hadnt even cleaned our rooms.

Not very good it was better the first time I stay there toilet back up air conditioning water running down wall leaking out of ceiling floor away wet room service did clean room very good never refill fridge should I gone on

Good Value

I read all the reports and went with the average report before i booked.It was defiantly a 4 star hotel, I am an avid traveler and have been to Dominican Republic 5 times alone. The beach is a 4. - food 3.5. - room 3.5. - grounds and lobby etc 4. I only paid $750 Canadian, approx $ 600 US, so really how can you ever complain. If you want Value this is a solid resort. If you want all the bells and whistles go else where.

Amazing Resort!

This resort was everything we were looking for. I went to punta cana with 2 girlfriends and we are young and were looking for somewhere with a fun nightlife and good accommodations. This place was perfect.

Great Resort!

This was the first time my boyfriend and I went to Dominican and decided to go to the most recommended area, Punta Cana. When we got there, we checked in a very small lobby, in which I questioned my choice to go with this resort. But this was just a little lobby that only served SunWing customers and the rest of the resort was great! We got put in one of their newly renovated buildings that didn’t even exist on the map yet! If you get put in building 11 - 16, it’s a bit of a trek to the beac [... read more]h (about 5 minutes) but there are pools around the resort so you are never too far from water. There are daily activities/“competitions” where you can win playing games against other people and you get awarded some special prizes right before the nightly entertainment. Overall, the staff were very friendly and always trying to engage with everyone. The a-la-cartes were diverse and had some pretty good choices. My favourite was Rodizio (Brazilian), they serve a variety of different meats and the atmosphere of the restaurant was ice too. The food was fairly good at the buffet, there is a lot of variety for both kids and adults. It isn’t gourmet by any means, but the choices are stellar. However, the only downside are the vendors that are there every night. It’s nice that you can get souvenirs right on the resort for a cheaper price because they are there during the evenings, but some nights there are multiple ones that try to get your attention. They are pretty aggressive with their sales tactics and will try to get you to buy their merchandise; just make sure when you say “no”, say it firmly. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely go back.

High Energy

The resort was great! Everyone was very helpful and it was high energy. The resort was a bit older but the workers made up for it. There was always activities happening and they got every to participate and have a good time.

Okay resort

The hotel was okay but too big - we like something a little smaller Unfortunately we all were sick - I also heard of someone in January when 4 couples went and again all sick - seriously there is a problem.

Our agent Jack made my trip with my kids fantastic!!! The Be Live collection Canoa was top notch, great staff, beautiful hotel. I excursion was fun to Sanoa island too, booking thru trip central I received way better prices too.

Huge resort

This resort has 16 buildings so there are a couple of thousand people staying at any one time, lots of pools, we were warned hot to drink the tap water, (which we didn`t), but the four of us still were sick , throwing up, diarrea, service was good, rooms were clean , we were in the newest building, service in the a la carte restaurants was adequate at best, beach was good as was the entertainment team.

VIP only way to go.

We had an amazing experience at Be Live Grand. The amazing staff (Mercedes) upgraded us to the VIP section of the resort upon arrival. Room: Large, beautiful, renovated, air conditioning work perfect. VIP perks: 15 hours a day free wifi (one device), top shelf liquor, Private beach, private lounge, VIP breakfast buffet, plus more. (We got tired of the same thing daily.) Everything was tasty. The restaurants available were: Japanese, Seafood, Brazilian, Mediterranean and Mexican. We went to the Japanese one night. This is the only restaurant the VIP people have to reserve. All other restaurants you can just walk in. It was good. But this is our 10th time to the DR and have had better Japanese rest. experiences at other resorts. We have seafood all the time and decided against going to the Seafood Rest. The lobster is an extra $23 USD to get and has to be ordered the day before you go. Apparently you can get the same lobster for $18 USD at the Med. Rest. but its not the same lobster as we are used to in Atlantic Canada so we passed. We did go to the Brazilian 2 times. It was delicious. They serve you different types of meat that has been cooked on a skewer. (Turkey, steak, chicken etc.) plus have a salad buffet which also serves soup and a few other hot items. The only thing we like at the Med rest. was the stuffed chicken. You cant go wrong. We aren't fans of Mexican food so we didn't get to that one either. The only issue we had with the food was the overall service with at the buffet. You have to wait which seemed like forever to get any drinks, new clean utensils and plates etc. I have NEVER been to a resort where i had to wait more then a few seconds for anything. This resort in our minds failed in this area. Over all the staff were very helpful (besides the buffet). As we have said before this is our 10th time and have been to different resorts each time. I would rate this resort an overall 3.5 star. 4 with the VIP.

Good Resort

It was a clean Hotel with friendly staff. The food and air conditioning was good. We arrived in Punta Cana in a good time but the Luggage issues ( the Transfer to Hotel ) and checking in took too long. We changed our room facing the wall and noisy. The reception and Sun Wing Rep. were attentive and helpful. The cleaning lady ,Rosa was nice. The only drawback was the sea leafs which rotten in the sea and piled on the beach. Good value

Check in was not a good experience. The check in lobby for Sunwing guests is not the main lobby. It is a small separate lobby at the front of the resort that is not very pleasant looking so first impressions were not good. We were 4 woman traveling in two rooms. After at least a 30 minute wait we were given rooms with one king bed that were very far from all the amenities of the resort. We the. Went back to the reception area and asked for two beds. we were told that we may need to pay an upgrad [... read more]e to get two beds. Then I had to get firm and asked for the manager. By now it's been over an hour and we are now dealing with a fourth person at the desk. They kept passing us to another staff very unprofessional. Then they told us they were overbooked. So I said we would welcome a transfer to a better resort if they did no t have room for us. Finally we got two rooms in building 5. The door handle was very loose but the rest of the room was decent. Renovated shower area, spacious, good air conditioning and comfortable beds. In speaking with other Sunwing guests they seem to have the same issue. Not sure if the contract is almost over or there is some issue between the resort and Sunwing but throughout the week it felt like we were not getting the same service as other guests booked with other tour operators. Almost like the staff were told to not worry about giving Sunwing guests the best service. The main pool needs maintenance. The grounds were niccly kept. The food was very good. A la carts were very good. Easy to book. No limit on visits. The entertainment was excellent. Great shows. Great animation staff. Dominican people are so friendly. Drinks were good too. Bartenders were always quick and ready to serve you. The beach us too small for the size of the resort though there is room fur a few more palapas and chairs. Vendors were respectful. Time share staff was good too. Not too annoying. We had an incident with one of our travel companions and she had to go to the hospital. Medical staff st the resort were excellent. Quick, efficient. Spoke clear English. Tours were great too. The Sunwing staff at the resort were amazing. So helpful. Great hours to reach them. I have travelled extensively in the Caribbean. I have been to DR 10 times. Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica etc. I would say this resort is good value for the $1140 I paid though I would highly recommend the check in process is investigated and changed. It's not s nice way to start your vacation having to argue with staff to get a decent room. Everyone that checked in with us had the same problem. It's like there were trying to get upgrades from us.

Great vacation !

We had a great vacation at the be live collection resort. Grounds were beautiful staff was very friendly, food was good and the resort was close to the airport. My only complaint would be that the check in took way too long and they wanted my friend and I to share a bed instead of giving us separate beds. In the end we got the separate beds with a beautiful view of the ocean. I would definitely go back to this resort !

Beautiful resort

Hotel was very nice,grounds and pools were beautiful.Beach is heavenly!!!!!Service was wonderful!!!!Staff very friendly and helpful!!!!!Most amazing vacation ever!!!!!would most definitely return to this resort!!!!

Awesome Vacation

The resort was very nice, with great restaurants and food. The grounds were well kept and the resort was very clean. There were a few quirks with the room, such as the key cards which had to be reset a few times throughout the stay and the door to the bathroom which would not close. However, overall the room was cleaned daily and maintained well! The activities were great and the staff were also were nice and fun! Overall, I would go again, as it was an enjoyable experience!

Sick as a dog

Both my husband and I were extremely ill on two different occasions. Food poisoned (did not eat food off resort or drink the water). Put us in the furthest hotel with a 5 month old and had to constantly lug everything back and forth and the elevators were always broken. So we had to both carry he stroller up and down the stairs. Never had clean towels ( they would take the towels and not being new ones ) Costantly harassed to buy stuff on the resort. Couldn't even sit without being bothered ( [... read more]time shares, jewelery, excursions) Tons of drunk teenagers puking and fighting mid day. Not family friendly. Food wasn't good. Ate fries and pizza the entire stay Would not return here.

Service would be the weak spot, front desk could use more people. If you paid for VIP there is a separate check-in, in that section but was not directed there? Purchased through Sunwing a adults only VIP standard room - resort advised that standard rooms did not exist in the adult only sections so was in regular section although we could enter the adults only and family VIP area. I have queried Sunwing about why I was sold a room in adults only section that didn't exist but I haven't had a respo [... read more]nse. Many individuals offering fantastic service others who don't care just like Canada! Close to airport. Long beach - lots of chairs - if guests didn't reserve spots - frustrating sitting in the sun without shade well all the shady spots are covered with towels with no people. Enjoy modern feel to be live concept.

Great VAYCAY!

The hotel was very clean and had lots to do. Many activities by pool. Many pools to have your choice as to where to lounge. Also right on beach and lots of space there as well. Food was good and never had trouble getting a place at Buffett or even the El a Carts. Staff was friendly and tried hard to communicate even if they had little English but most had good English. I would defiantly go back to this resort.

Lovely resort

We had a wonderful time. The grounds were kept well and the staff was very friendly. We were ill for a day and what was really impressive was, the staff from the hotel called our room to see how we were feeling and stated that, if there was anything they could do for us or anything we needed to please let them know. Now that's what I call great service.
