Return visit disapointing

This is our second time at this Bahia, our 6th stay at a Bahia property, first time was in March 2010 and we stayed on the Akumal section before it was changed to Luxury Akumal. Overall everything was fine, the food great and most of the staff were incredible. Had some issues with repairs that were needed in our room, took forever to get them fixed. The rooms really need some updating and a good through cleaning. Loved all the critters running around. The seagrass problem was still ongoing. On o [... read more]ur last day they finally came to pick up the giant piles that had accumulated, it was very stinky but I understand the workers were doing the best we could. Would we return? not likely.

Worth it and more!

We were travelling with our young kid and we had a good time. Everything was fresh and clean and you could see the attention and the care everyone on the resort was providing to the place. We would surely go back there.

Amazing resort

This resort is amazing... You can not ask for more. Service is superb, grounds, rooms, staff are great. This was our forth trip to this resort. staff go out of their way to make your trip enjoyable. Excursions are enjoyable. We will continue to vacation at this resort and have recommended to numerous friends.

Amazing resort

very,very clean,perfect service,a lot of diffrent real good tasting food,beach are perfect for smaller children,I only wished the have free wifi in the lobby only for e-mailing and my phone worked only in the room and it was poor

Fantastic vacation

Resort is beautiful and lots of activities. The food was really good especially the Japanese restaurant. I would fully recommend this resort to anyone and I have stayed at many resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean and it's one of my favorites.

Amazing resort. Everyone was so great!

Food was awesome, rooms were very clean and service was A+. Maids were very friendly and if we asked for a specific thing with no time we received it. A la carte restaurants were very good and service was awesome. Beaches were clean despite the seedweed. Will definitely go back.

Nice Resort

Hotel layout was very large and could become confusing haveing to travel between different lobby's for dining. Food was decent in the buffets, but the a la carte restaurants were quite good. Staff were efficient but not overly enthusiastic about serving you.

Great vacation and great resort!

The hotel is awesome! Great food and service! I totally enjoyed my stay and would like to return one day. The beach was a bit small and shore was full of sea weeds, but pools were fantastic, so no complains.

Tullum was amaizing

Grand bahi principe Tullum was great. Clean, nice staff and lots to do for the kids. Unfortunately a lot of seaweed on the beach but we can't do anything about that. The Xelha excursion was awesome!!!

Amazing Resort!!!!

This is a beautiful resort. The food was delicious and the service fantastic. Rooms were modern and clean. Everyone there was always smiling, very friendly and helpful. We had a very good time. I recommend this place to have an incredible family vacation.

My resort experience

My time at the tulum was great, I had an great time, staff were friendly, the food was amazing. Which there was more than one snack bar and a nicer beach too much seaweeds. A lot of different things to do.

Great Resort

This resort was awesome. The ability to go to the other resorts was great to change things up from time to time. Awesome night life at the Hacienda. Worst part of the resort was the service booking a la carte restaurant. They tell you there is no availability and there are always multiple empty tables. They are rude about their lack of availability and make no attempts to accommodate. I would say make sure to book the day you arrive however that is what we did and were given 1030pm times. Some r [... read more]estaurants (the Brazillian and Tepanyaki, we couldnt even get into at all). We did keep going back every day to check for cancelations and managed better times that way. The service in the restaurants was really good.

Fabulous first trip to Mexico

I went to the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum at Riviera Maya with my 6 year old daughter. It was our very first experience in an all-inclusive resort. We both loved the always clean rooms, and friendly staff. Everybody seemed happy to help us find what we were looking for. Because there was tons of algae on the beach, we did not spend a lot of time at the Tulum beach; we visited the Akumal beach instead. My daughter ADORED the kids' pool at Coba as well as the kids' buffet selection. After a week, I  [... read more]got a bit tired of the buffet, but the food was always good. We did the dolphin swim which my daughter still talks about. The only negative was the massive amounts of mosquitos that ate us alive in the evenings and after the rain showers. Everyone on the resort has dozens of bites everywhere, and my bug repellent never seemed to work well enough. Aside from that, it was an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful and friendly!

The resort is huge and has every service you could want! Seaweed is an issue on the beach so if you like calm and clean, better to stay at Akumal where it is calmer. It's the worst at the Coba beach. Pools are delightful and always activities and music. Never an issue getting chairs but folks do save them early even though they aren't supposed to. We never did and always found a spot on the fringe between ocean and pool right where our kids could go back and forth. As for restaurants... Book the [... read more] moment you get there and have your choices written out with a general time frame.... Then tip the person you give the list to and magically we got all our choices and times! Sebastian at the Diamond Lobby was thoughtful, organized and very friendly throughout our stay. We weren't thrilled with Pescador or Oasis and enjoyed Tequila, Le Gourmet and Mikado (show table) the most. Also did Gran Tortuga, Mediterrano and another one I can't remember.... They were all fine. Buffets were excellent! Loved the Diamond uncrowded breakfast and lunch. Found main buffet at Tulum much calmer and much better selection than Coba where herds of people shuffled about trying to elbow their way to French fries.... Lots more little kids on Coba side. My 9 year old spent two days at the kids club on Tulum and LOVED Julia! It was a bit young for my 12 year old. BIG hint of the whole trip.... WALKIE TALKIES! We had four and each had one all the time (except when swimming!) which enabled us much more freedom. Lots of folks were envious! Other tips.... Don't waste your money on Xel-Ha ( most expensive lazy river ride ever and not worth the hundreds we spent.... Though the dolphin experience here was fantastic) turtle snorkel "tour" (go yourself! It's beautiful and you can avoid crowds and go at your own pace) or bother with Playa del Carmen... all the stores have the same stuff that they do at the hacienda. And buy your booze at the airport - great deals at duty free. Oh, and bring your own snorkel and mask and water shoes, too. Tip your maid every day (Maria!) and the mini bar guy. We were in room 4526 in .diamond (upgrade! Just do it!) and it was wonderful.... Third floor right beside the private lobby and trolley to everywhere. Oh... And golf was hot, buggy and a rip off. While it was beautiful and supposedly included, it was the most expensive 9 holes we have ever played after cart, clubs and balls! Oh, and bring bug spray! The first week there were none at all and the second week they were crazy. Bug spray helped a lot! Okay.... That's all except a special mention to Kevin at front desk.... Helpful, friendly, solution oriented and efficient. And Ursula at the bar was tremendous! Beautiful person! Oh, and Jonathan the scuba master at the Diamond Pool! Ooh.... Do the Mexican fiesta night.... Games, bull, show, piñata.... Fun. Okay, now go have fun!

Almost three in one.....

Very well kept, huge but accessible.free 60 minutes wifi at the lobby which is very neat. Only problem encountered when we check out the guy did not give me my check out ticket even though I reminded him he said I'm all clear not until I was about to take the shuttle to the airport I was asked for the check out ticket and so I have to run back to the check out counter. Other than that so far its good.

Amazing Resort - Totally Impressed

This was our First AI. Did'nt expect much but was amazed at the quality of everything. Only thing we did'nt like was the beach. Sea weed was everywhere. Cleaners were constantly cleaning up. Unfortunately, can't fault the Resort for it.

Good resort

The hotel was a great resort, very big, interactive, lots of pools and activities to explore throughout the day. The only issue we had was upon arrival the hotel staff advised they didn't have 2 rooms for our group of 4 adults and 1 child. They offered us 1 suite with 2 beds and would bring in another bed or the other option was to move us to Bahia Principe which was across the street. I was not impressed with either or option because I booked 2 rooms so I expected 2 rooms and I wanted to stay a [... read more]t Tulum not the resort across the street, also it's their fault for not having the rooms to accommodate. We ended up taking the 1 room option cause it was taking too long to speak to the front desk and we were just going back and forth. Aside from the room situation the resort itself had great staff, very clean, friendly and everyone works really hard. When we landed there was a major tropical storm happening and the beach was filled with seaweed and parts of the resort was flooded, but the staff worked hard to clean it up as quickly as possible throughout the whole week. Food was good, entertainment was good, overall I'd give the resort a good rating aside from the check in and room situation. If they were over booked they should have been prepared or organized it better.

The best vacation

I would've given them 5 stars but when it rained the roof leaked but they took care of us anyways. Entertainment are good we have no time to get bored. Just be careful and watch where you step there are iguanas all over. Services are excellent

Poor customer service

we had a decent short vacation (5 days) but this resort is NOT what I was expecting. Before I launch into the play-by-play, this resort has too many people and not enough a la carte restaurants. They do not prepare you at check in (a la carte reservations should be suggested, safe key supplied etc). Our room NEVER had suitable AC, it barely worked and we were lied to repeatedly (maintenance never arrived) both over the phone at when we walked all the way to the front desk. We complained every si [... read more]ngle day of our trip, NOTHING I repeat NOTHING was done. Eventually on the last night our AC died completely due to repeated power outages beyond their control. I KNOW the AC was not standard because other guest rooms we went into were frigid in comparison. Some staff are wonderful but the majority are at best aloof, at worst rude and inconsiderate. When poor weather hit the resort, it descended into complete chaos. We saw a piece of rusted support beam and paint fall on to a guests head in the Akumal bar in the main lobby, and the rain that covered the tile floor resulted in people falling like flies

Daughter LOVED IT

My spouse and I have been to Mexico before - Puerto Vallarta and we loved it. This vacation was more for our daughter (3) as this was her first time being on a plane etc etc. We loved the resort. Our first day wasn't too pleasant as this resort is the only one I know of that made you wear a long sleeve for dinner at the buffet. Only know of that rule when eating at a la carte's but that's ok. We took the taxi to the Tulum ruins and we had the best cab driver ever! David! He took us there, told us how it would be like offered to be our guide, let us know that if we bought the tickets at a certain stand it would be cheaper than buying it at the ruins, plus he waited for us until we were done so we didn't need to flag a cab back. PLUS he took us off the highway to show us a few underground rivers that run beneath the highways. The only off thing was the sea-weed but that isn't their fault. I am an ocean baby and would prefer to play in the ocean over the pool anyday but the large amounts of sea weed washing up was too much for me. They clean it everyday its just it was alot for ME personally. I would definitely come back here and recommend this place to others.
