Recommend this resort to everyone.

This was my first visit to Cuba. We were very delighted with our choice. The grounds, lobby, beach, rooms and buffet were exceptionally clean and well maintained. The employees were the most friendly and very accommodating. The buffet had a varied menu for everyone's taste. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a quiet and friendly resort.

Good Value

This resort is good value. They hotel is still recuperating from the hurricane. The food is very good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The lobby bar is open 24/7 for coffee, tea and alcoholic drinks.

Iberostar Daiquiri

Arrived at the resort around 12:00 pm the room was not ready yet so reception helped us out the luggages in the safe room. The room will ready around 3pm. Reception is very accommodating gave me floor plan buffet restaurant will be open at 1 pm. Went around to see the grounds you can still see the damages from the hurricane. We are able to get to the room around 4 pm. Omg when we are changing I got beaten by sand fleas waiting at reception. Saturday Sunday it rained our room is on the 3rd f [... read more]loor room phone not working. We had a leak from too much rain in the closet. We took 1 trash can to for the water leak and Housekeeping gave us towels just in case it gets worse then we can change rooms. The 24 hour snack bar is flooded and was only working Wednesday everyone had to go to the buffet restaurant. We had an umbrella decided to walk in the beach area. Lots of kite boarding really nice to watch. Weather got better on Monday we are able to relax by the beach. Food at the resort breakfast is the best. Night shows was great but had to wear leggings and long sleeve to prevent sand flea bites. It is my first time to Cayo Coco love the beach you can walk 3 km and the water is knee dip. I would come back but would like to check out Cayo Largo or Santiago next time.

Worst vacation

I stayed during the week of August 22 to September 2. My possessions were stolen by by a Cuban 85031016342. You need to be very careful these days. They are poor and have no principles or integrity. Other than that the hotel was great.

The beach was amazing, the resort was awesome, the people/staff there are so warm and welcoming and family oriented and the fact that they speak 3 different languages was very convinent to everyone. The food was ok. The live entertainment at the resort was amazing and fun. Although There should also be more excursions offered, and the mosquitoes were killers at nights, I highly recommend staying at Iberostar daiquiri in Cuba!

Disappointed!

I have traveled to Cuba many times and have stayed at various resorts from 3 stars to 5 stars. This review is based on a comparison of my past experiences. Iberostar Daiquiri is listed as a 4 star but should be a 3. The hotel is in need of refreshing and just general maintenance. We experienced rooms that had shower heads shooting water everywhere, drains that didn't drain, rooms with doors, walls etc. black with finger marks from not being cleaned, bedspreads with stains, bath/hand/shower t [... read more]owels that had to be asked for on a daily basis, fridges that were never restocked unless you tracked down the person responsible for restocking them, just mediocre conditions. The grounds were not well kept, the grass hadn't been mowed for weeks, weeds growing everywhere, work being done around the pool, what should be beautiful fountain areas in the lobby and on the premises had stagnant water. You can tell that there is no one that takes any pride in keeping this resort clean and prestine. There were things dropped on the lobby floor and I watched as it stayed there for days. Glasses were dropped in the buffet area and it took 15 mins for someone to show up and clean up the broken glass and juice, as patrons tried to walk around the mess. The breakfast and lunch staff in the buffet restaurant were inattentive and slow, showing no interest in serving and helping the guests. The food, well, you're in Cuba, so you know how that goes. However, on two occasions as I waited for my fish and meat to be prepared, there was a cockroach that scurried across the counter. Most of the time we got our own water and drinks. Things are just not done with any class. The men who worked the dining room at dinner, were excellent, however. They were friendly, prompt, courteous and catered to our needs, bravo to them! Let's talk about the catamaran cartel. Non-motorized sports are supposed to be included in the package. However, the catamaran crew have there own business going and are more interested in charging 20 CUC a person to transport people to a site for snorkling, leaving the beach without any catamarans all day. Considering they finished their shifts at 4 pm daily, I watched, each day as they started to put away the peddal boats, kayaks, catamarans between 2 and 3, so we had nothing to use. Of course, they would then use one boat to take out their family or friends that were waiting on the beach adjacent to the resort. On the weekends, locals come and use the resort beach chairs, the men ogle and disturb the girls lying at the beach and they leave behind all their empty cans, plates etc. All this, never gets picked up by hotel staff. In my opinion, aside from a few excellent staff members like Fidel at the lobby bar, Eddie at entertainment and Paoblo as the doorman, the rest of the staff run the place the way they feel like, there is no sense of the resort being in control by an administrative group, the employees rule the roost. I would give service at this resort a 1/10. If not for the spectacular beach, I would have regretted by choice altogether. If you care more about service and less about the beach, I would recommend Dhawa to you. I was there in March and there service is top notch, but the beach is not that great, too bad!!

Awesome Resort!

This was our fifth time at the Iberostar Daquiri and it never disappoints! Even after 4 years the staff genuinely remembered us and made us feel at home. The resort is laid out beautifully so everything is only steps away without feeling small, the beach is perfect, the food continues to improve with each visit.

Wonderful resort!

The size of the resort is on the small side. You do not need to walk for long distance to from beach to your room and to the buffet. It is kids and family friendly. The room size is good. The workers are friendly. The beach was sandy and good for swimming.

Friendly Cuba

This was our second stay at the Iberostar Daiquiri in Cayo Guillermo. We were relieved that nothing much had changed. We love the location, the people and the rum in Cuba. Our room was clean and we'll kept daily. I would have liked the floors a little cleaner but this was no sticking point for us. The buffet food is the best as the stand alone restaurants leave a little bit to be desired in terms of the quality of the food. Staff were excellent though. Our flight out was at 10 am and the dinner was for that night. Guest Services did not have our departure info when the letter was delivered to our room. All I all we would return to this location and would give this hotel a solid 4 out of 5.

Third time in this hotel

It's my third time in this hotel. 2 times 10 years ago - was amazing. This time - good In a nutshell: people working really hard to make your vacation nice. Very compact and convenient for all activities. Facilities are very dated, didn't like the beach, luck of activities during the day. Reception: poor. Servers - outstanding. Room: very dated, but our cleaning lady was amazing.

Excellent resort

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié cet hotel. La nourriture était bonne et varié au buffet...porc, poulet, boeuf, poisson, pâte à tous les jours. C'est un petit resort donc tout est à la portée. 2-3 minutes de marche soit pour aller à la plage, à la piscine, au loby, buffet, etc. Une petite recommandation serait d'améliorer la propreté. Des déchets trainaient encore près des chaises à la piscine le matin. Les chambres sont propres, mais pas les corridors.

First love!

We've just returned from a beautiful vacation. This was the third time we were at this resort. It is obvious we like it, at least we liked it the first time we visited it. It was 2004; and the hotel was quite new. Rooms were nice, no musty smell, no worn mattresses, the staff very friendly, the beach was beautifull and the food outstanding. It was what we hoped for. The second time, in 2008, it was different. The room was sub par; smelled of tabaco and mold, mattress was old and worn as if  [... read more]a huge weight had crushed all the springs and the A/C was almost nonexistent. The rest: staff, food and beaches were the same: nice, tasty and beautiful as before. This year we decided to go back since we still had the good feeling from the first time we were there. We went for the superior room. We asked the travel agent if the term "superior" means a renovated room. The lady confirmed it, and indeed it was. Iberostar Daiquiri is a medium size resort; beautifully maintained by a handfull of gardiners that work really hard and they are rarely appreciated. It has a cozy lobby with access to the main bar where you can have almost any drink you would want. The main hotel is right above it. In addition there are villas that have main + two floors. They are lovely! We stayed in villa Varadero on the top floor with an ocean view. The room was spacious, very nicely renovated, with modern bathroom, king size mattress that felt new and firm yet very comfortable, plasma TV, small fridge, a couch and an armchair with a type of ottoman. The A/C was in good working condition, silent and efficient, Housekeeping staff is very nice, thorough, non intrusive and quiet. You can have your siesta undisturbed even if they work next door. We ran into this issue at some other resort. The room was our main concern. We knew that the beach and the food will be good if not great, so after we saw the room we knew that it was worth returning to our first love. There was another good surprize: all the resorts contributed to the enhancement of the beaches on Cayo Guilermo's North side. Now the beach is approximately 20 meters wide, about 3 km long and has beautiful white sand. The water is perfect, you have all kind of places to snorkel and there are thousands of fish around (barracudas included). You can fish to your heart's content, or just enjoy the sun. There are plenty of activities you can engage in, and all kind of excursions you can buy. We preferred to remain in the resort and relax. There is a dedicated space for kids to play in with all kind of gadgets, as well as a shallow pool for them to enjoy. There are two other pools where the adults can soak up to the point when the afternoon entertainment takes over. In one of the pools there is a bar and you can sit and drink as much liquid as you can. If you like table tenis, pool, volleyball, badminton, beach ball or target shooting, there are places for all those activities. There are 4 restaurants (I hope I'm not mistaken): one on the beach - very nice - where you eat a delicious lunch if you don't want to dress up. If you do, then you can go to the main restaurant for lunch. There is a 24 hour snack bar at the pool as well. There is a Mexican restaurant that is open only for dinner. At dinner time the restaurant on the beach changes into a la carte Cuban restaurant. We did not go to any of them since the buffet is soooo good that booking the a la carte restaurant seems a waste of time. One thing though, I'm not sure why the fish tastes as if it is old frozen. We had a very nice memory of filets of fish on the barbecue served in the beach restaurant that tasted great. This time, not so much. The other items on the menu were perfect though so we compensated with those. As you can probably see, we do like this resort a lot, however we did see some things that were not professional and could have been a motive for complaints. For example: reusing the mint from a used glass from which someone drank a Mojito (saw it once, maybe it happens more often - management please look into this). I wouldn't have wanted to drink that. Or an alcoholless Mojito, it wasn't worth the one pesos I tiped the staff. By the way, that drink was prepared by someone else than the bartender since he was occupied speaking with a person at a table, and he did that for about 5 minutes; he ignored all of his clients. When we arrived this year to this very nice resort, we saw a lot of the old guard still working there. This may be a very good thing: All of the staff know their jobs. On the other hand, they may take their job security for granted as well as they gathered enough money from tips over the years that they see themselves as rich and untouchable; and they will have an atitude towards customers that may harm the good name of the company. Another thing, the rag they use to wipe the tables with, should be washed clean with soap at least every second round; you cannot imagine how many germs can be on that piece of cloth. The cushions on the couches in the hallway, mainly the ones going to the main restaurant are not the cleanest to be moderate. In the room, there can be a unpleasant smell emanating from the washroom. It can be easily avoided by pooring water in the floor drain under the sink. It seems everyone is forgetting about that one and it dries up and allows smell to come into your room. In conclusion, Iberostat Daiquiri is a lovely resort, where we'll return with great pleasure. It has one of the nicest beaches in Cuba - even though they say that Playa Pilar is nicer - lots of places to sun bathe or lie in the shade. It is smaller than the other newer ones, and because of this doesn't run into their problem of not having enough food ready for the patrons to eat come feeding time. It offers a variety of food and it is only a matter of you using your imagination to combine them and create a complete and very satisfying meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner or anywhere in between. Drinks are plentiful and diverse. The superior rooms - little more expensive than the standard - are very nice (make sure you have a normal fridge not an ecological one if you want to have cold water to drink). I don't have to remind you to bring bug spray to kill mosquitoes in the room and some Off for when you are sitting at the bar at night. They have a pharmacy, it is advisable though, to bring whatever medicine you think you might need since the prices are spiced up. The safe in the room you have to pay 2 pesos per day to use. Excellent hotel

Nice and small resort. Easy to get around. Food was good. Lots to choose from. Beach was excellent and lots of lounge chairs. Staff go out of their way to ensure you are looked after. Grounds are well maintained. Would return in a minute.

Beautiful resort

Very nice resort, comfortable, staff helpful. Lots of activities and evening entertainment was good. You had to be there early to get a fresh pool towel or they would run out. I also was unable to get toilet paper for my room one day. Overall had a great stay.

Fantastic

Travelled as a group of 10. We had no trouble getting seating together at the buffet anytime of the day thanks to the amazing staff. Smaller resort which meant easy to get seating around pool. Beach was amazing. Great entertainment nightly and daily poolside. Loved the swim up bar. Very clean resort. Food was typical of Cuba but always fresh. Good selection. We definitely will go back. Great bang for the buck.

Great service

This was our first "All Inclusive" trip and it didn't disappoint. As soon as we landed and got on the shuttle to the hotel, the staff were so friendly and offered good tips for our stay. The hotel room was ok- a little disappointed that we ended up on the ground floor. All of the bar staff, food service staff and housekeeping staff, even the grounds staff were very obliging to requests and went out of their way to be friendly. Would definitely return.

Beautiful Resort!!

What an amazing resort! I booked this resort after reading the reviews on Trip Central and couldn't have been more happy I did. The resort is very beautiful, clean and close to the beach. It's not a huge resort so not over crowded. The staff are overly friendly but I always loved that about Cuba. We had no water issues and rooms were always done great! There was always entertainment by the pool and theatre. Food was fantastic!

Excellent

had a fabulous time. Staff was unbelievable. Would go back in a heart beat. When we had a problem it was looked after immediately. Because our plane was delayed 10 hours(Cubana Air} they allowed us to keep our room at no extra charge. The entertainment staff spoke excellent English. We would definately reccomend the Iberostar Daiquieri to anyone.

Not a good experience

The service was poor. The beach wasn't what we were expecting. The food was below average. There were a lot of cockroaches everywhere. We always lower our expectations when traveling to Cuba. We have been south around 20 times and also to this area. However this was probably the worst resort we have been too. We aren't ones to complain about things. However we would never return. Having stayed at 3 other Iberostars in the past (Rose Hall Jamaica, Iberostar Dominicana, and Iberostar Grand P [... read more]unta Cana) we expected more and will likely not be staying at an Iberostar property again.
