Even better than I hoped

All around better experience than we had expected. Super sandy beach that was pleasant to wade out in. Water was clean and clear. Only a few coral areas that could be easily avoided, but if you wanted to see a variety of tropical fish, that's where they hang out, so don't avoid them! The hotel itself is quite spread out so you don't ever feel crowded, and the layout keeps you close to what ever you want to get to without having to do too much walking across the entire resort just to get somewhere. The rooms were spacious, and the bathroom fixtures were surprisingly very modern. The air conditioning worked very well. No musty smell in the room at all. Other than the bed being a rather hard springy thing, there wasn't a complaint at all. Still got a good night's sleep. We ate at the buffet most meals because of the larger selections available, which were actually impressive. Fresh grilled chicken breast slices, pork, beef, various seafoods, choose your own pasta mix dish and pizza too, but the pizza was a bit of a miss. Various sliced meats. Amazing selection of desserts and cheeses. Bread selection was varied but on the bland side for the most part. We always had the freshmade omelette for breakfast. The 24 hour snack bar is actually quite good and even had Heinz ketchup for a couple of days. Typical that some things are only available for a limited time. The kitchen is super fast at getting your order on your table. Impressive! Of the other A La Carte restaurants, we really enjoyed the Lasagna at the Italian restaurant. Lots of cheese and beefy layers, tasted awesome! The Japanese restaurant was entertaining, and the Cuban was OK, but what I had there was about the same as what I would have had at the main buffet anyway. The main lobby area is a hangout after supper. Great drinks. You can get limited wifi for a couple of pesos an hour. The market across the street is handy with a variety of local crafts and more goodies inside the shop where you should go to get rum to take home. A bit cheaper than in the hotel. Make sure you bring lots of sunscreen. You can buy it there, but you'll pay lots more for it. The "beer corner" near the ice cream stand has canned beer when they're open, but several times we walked there to get a beer and the place was shut for the night, even though the sign said they were open until 11, they were often well closed for the night by 10. Lots of Taxis and horse and buggies for hire if you want to get of the resort for a brief tour on your own. You really are in Cuba when you are in this area. You don't have to travel far off the resort to see what Cuba is like. Not like other areas where you are surrounded buy tourist attractions and shops and other resorts. There is only one resort on either side of this one, and beyond that, you are really in Cuba.

Nice Resort

Good resort very fair for the price we paid. the beach was gorgeous, white sand not too crowded. Food and service were good. Room was spacious and clean. overall all good experience we enjoyed our vacation.

Nice Resort

While the grounds were nice and the rooms and resort were overall very clean the food was lacking. The food at the snackbar and all the a la carte's was wonderful the buffet was not good. We have been to Cuba before and know what to expect in the way of food but there was little to no selection and often times the buffet was so full you had to wait in line behind the chain fence to go in and experience this less than good food.

I wouldn't return.

the hotel was clean and the grounds were lovely. Everything is just so far away that a lot of walking is certainly the order of the day. We were in the last row of buildings closest to the beach and it was still a 10 minute walk to get there. And then if you needed to use the bathroom you had to come all the way back as there were no bathrooms on the beach. The alacartes were absolutely AWESOME. The staff there were much more friendly than in the buffet but then again they were just dealing with a certain area of the restaurant.. I have been to Cuba many times before and this is the first time that I would say that I was not impressed with the food in the buffet and the first time that I would not return to the resort. The pool although quite large only had 2 step areas to get in and out and they were not spread out at all. So unless you can hop out the side of the pool again you could be faced with a hike back to your chair (not that I use the pool much).

Wonderful time at Playa Coste Verde

Many trips to Cuba but this was my first time in Holguin. This resort is older (as are most in this area) but clean and well kept. Perfectly situated in the middle of Playa Perquero beach between the Playa Perquero resort and the Blau Coste Verde, it is a short walk over a little lagoon to a beautiful calm beach with lots of sand, trees and palapas. The pools and surrounding areas were clean and well kept, we observed the umbrella bases being painted on this trip. The staff at the swim up bar were great, so welcoming, cheerful and efficient that you hardly notice how hard they are working...a real art. The food was good. I always use the grill stations and then add if needed from the trays. There was bacon every day and one night we had grilled lobster at the buffet. A la cartes were good as well, the Japanese our favorite.

Best vacation

We were so pleased with our resort , the food was good ! The beach was amazing ! The Cuban people are the best ! The resort was clean , and well presented ! We went to three of the restaurants and enjoy them all but the Japanese was our favourite ! We will diffentlu be returning

Great resort

This resort was a well laid out resort,grounds were well maintained. Food was alittle above average for a cuban resort.Beach was beautiful ,no seaweed with lots of good snokeling right in front of the resort.

Great family resort

We loved spending March break at PCV. What a great resort. Food was good. Kids loved the 24 hour snack bar and ice cream parlour. The beach was the best I have seen. Turquoise blue and white sand. The room was dated bur since we only slept there it was fine. Don't hesitate to book this one.

Fantastic resort

the hotel was a little outdated but overall would rate it very well looked after. our cleaning lady was amazing. upon arrival I was a little upset to discover that there was only 1 king size bed and no cot. there were 3 of sharing a room and we were suppose to have 2 beds and 1 cot. our cleaning immediately calmed me down and provided 2 cots which turned out to be more comfortable than the bed.

Loved it!

Clean rooms, clean grounds, friendly staff, helpful staff, good food (except Italian restaurant), nice entertainment, one problem with room which was fixed immediately. Overall, a great experience. Hope to go again!

Fantastic holiday

This is my third time visiting this resort which should tell you how great it is! The people working there are friendly and so helpful! The food is great! The beach is very nice and clean. I loved the ice cream stand during the day! Loved the nite aquatic show in the pool, stunning costumes!

Great resort

Luv this resort, been here 5 times never disappoints. Very clean, never go away hungry, alacarte restaurants are delisious. Luv that you can get a real cappacino any time of the day at either the lobby bar or the 24 hr restaurant. Very friendly staff. Would recommend doing a taxi tour in 1 of the old cars & ask for Snow(driver).

Nice resort

The rooms weren't very nice, beds where very bad! We had three to a room. My boyfriend son and myself. I paid a year ahead. Two double beds put together for three of us to sleep in! Paid full for all three of us including my son that was under age to do anything.

Beautiful Resort

Everything was perfect.Went the week of Feb.20,2016, weather was great in the 30's all week.Food was good for Cuba.This was our second time at this resort and we will be going back.Rooms were basic but nice.

Our favourite resort

we have been to Playa Costa Verde many times and will continue to go back because of the amazing people. The beach is very nice and the beach bar is a lot of fun. You will enjoy the ocean better if you have water shoes but many people go in without them. You can always also walk down the beach to the next hotel where getting into the water is easier. We just got home and are already missing our friends there. We would highly recommend this resort

Great resort!

I visited this resort for 4 days with my 14 year old son. The hotel and grounds are kept clean. We didn't have hot water in our shower when we arrived, however, this was quickly fixed by the maintenance staff. The food was okay, not gourmet, but we weren't in danger of starving to death. There is a dress code at the a la carte restaurants, and it would have been nice to know ahead of time that pants and shoes were the requirement. My son was wearing nice golf shorts and a golf shirt, but they wo [... read more]uldn't allow him to eat at the Japanese restaurant. Meanwhile, there were slobs wearing jeans and running shoes in there, and that was considered acceptable?! That would be my only complaint about this resort. We spent our days at the beach, which was beautiful. The snorkelling was amazing, the guys who run the water sports booth are fun and helpful. I highly recommend going out on the catamaran with Roger and/or Miguel (we went with each of them a couple of times)...so much fun. The fitness facility has a decent amount of equipment available, better than I've seen in many high end resorts. The staff were all polite and helpful, and hardworking. A big shout out to Jesus at the ice cream stand, which we visited each afternoon. Overall, a great, quick getaway, and I'll be returning with my other son in March.

Good Resort for the Money

My husband and I just returned from our 3 stay at Playa Costa Verde and it wont be our last. The staff do everything they can to make your stay with them one to remember. The food is variable, after 3 years of coming to Cuba we realize that they don't have the consistent variety that we have at home. That being said we enjoyed our meals there. The grounds are well kept and the beach and water are amazing.

Great value for the money!

Great resort. The beach is beautiful, good for people who like to snorkel. Villas have been fresh painted and grounds have been revamped (they are beautiful) rooms are still little dated but are comfortable. Bars good, staff super friendly. Buffet small then used to be, NO bacon in mornings, good value for the money. Lots repeat guest.

Great place to relax and unwind

Walk at night and still feels safe. There are security on the ground. The food I had is generally fresh and good, just a little different then the way we cook it at home. Ground is clean, nicely landscaped, but needs some more light to be able to see well at night

Very nice well kept resort!

The grounds are very nice and the staff are amazing. They are very friendly and help out where they can. Some areas need some upgrades/repairs but overall a very nice place! The resort is not too large to get to know and the layout with the block houses is excellent!
