Overall our stay was pleasant. It met our expectations however there were opportunities of exceeding expectations such as, food options like more exotic fruits, better entertainment and more frequent replenishment of water, toilet paper etc in the room. But nonetheless the resort is true to a 3 star in North America.
Organization a la carte in resort was awful, Sunwing representative at the resort excellent, Sunwing Workers at the airport (check in) arrogant and unwilling. We had big problems with our seats in the plane. We did not get booked and paid for a seat in the plane.

Need to Work on Customer Service
We traveled to this hotel at the end of April 2015. We had been to Curacao on a cruise and wanted to return to get to know the island better. I would rate the hotel at a three star level. We have been to many resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean and this was one of our least favorites. We stayed in the tower section which seemed to have newer rooms and ours was fine. The food was adequate but varied from good to terrible depending on the the meal and restaurant. We found the Italian and beach gri[... read more]ll to be the best and the others including the buffet were just okay.
Customer service was a real problem. Starting when we arrived in our room to find the safe locked and no instructions on how to open or use it. A little thing yes,but there were a bunch of little irritants throughout our stay that made the hotel a disappointment. Some examples...watching the lady at the beach grill handle raw hamburgers and your hamburger bun without washing her hands, waiting endlessly to simply get water or coffee in the Buffet( which seemed totally disorganized), very slow service at the bars, many disinterested and unmotivated staff.
On the positive side there were some very good staff (Jonathan in the Lobby bar) who were interested in providing good service, there just wasn't enough of them. The beach was quite nice. A visit downtown is definitely worthwhile but take the bus as the hotel shuttle never seemed to be available.
We were disappointed with the quality of food in general and the lack of customer focus specifically. We would not recommend this hotel.

Great Resort
The sunscape hotel is an older hotel but it is well maintained and they have a lot of renovated areas that are nice. Our room in the 'royal tower' was beautiful. Very clean and most importantly the bed was very comfy! Always able to get chairs in sun or shade on the beach or by the many pools. Food was very good and liked that it was unlimited al la carte to any of the restuarants.
Staff was very friendly and polite. Always lots to do as in activities but also able to relax in quiet areas.

Great resort
The grounds were clean. The rooms were adequately clean. Received 7 bars of soap over the week but lacked in towels, toilet paper. The food was good, somewhat repetitious. Did not like the a la cartes. Too slow, too salty but service was good. For the price, I would go back

Great Resort
Everything was clean and kept up!
Close to Mambo beach shopping and Sea Aquarium.
Easy to get around town with local bus - $1.50 per person.
Rooms were nice. In room safe was free and secure. No one expected a tip, but you were glad to give one for service. I would recommend this resort!! No reservations for a la carte, no wrist bands, no towels cards!

Resort grows on you!
Just got back last night from a 7 night stay at this resort and thought what great little resort! Food was good, beach was great, drinks plentiful, staff friendly, loved the town of Willemstad. The only slight complaint is the hotel is in need of some tlc. The rooms in the Royal Tower have been updated somewhat compared to the other blocks in the resort. All in all, great little resort for the price.

FANTASTIC BEACH
This is an older hotel and the rooms are tired although the beds were comfortable and water was hot. The buffet was average and the specialty restaurants were good to very good. Great coffee bar. The overall service was average. The beach however was fantastic with snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, and sun worshipping. Clean/safe beach. Beautiful sunsets.

Great Resort!
if ever considering to travel to Curacao then this resort is one not to pass up! The staff are friendly and service is spot on. A smaller resort that is easy to get around with beautiful clean grounds and easy access to the beach where you can swim and snorkel safely with the man made break wall and reef in front. Food is very good and there is nothing like eating on the beach any night in any of the restaurants! This is our second trip here...we recommend you make it your first...you won't be d[... read more]isappointed! A safe and friendly island!

Fabulous laid back resort - not too big, not too s
Staff great. Every time I said thank you for something staff would say "it is my pleasure". Service excellent. Rooms clean and very nice. We had a partial ocean view and faced the lagoon at the side of the property. Nice and relaxing and the terrace was roomy. In our 5 storey building there were two elevators. We were on the 3 rd floor so we mostly walked up. Food was generally very good, except for the Oceana restaurant which was not good at all so we just went to another restaurant. You don't [... read more]book for any of them, which I really liked, you just show up and if there is no room they just take your room number and tell you when to come back. Our favourite was the Italian restaurant. No wristbands at the resort which we liked. Excellent coffee shop which made great espresso and capuccino. Conveniently located across from a small bar so Baileys was on hand for the coffee.
Beach was wonderful and the water was clear and turquoise. Snorkelling excellent. Lots of shade on the beach. Aqua aerobics on the beach every day if you are so inclined.
Entertainment good. Bars all served great drinks - try the mojito if you go as well as the frozen piña coladas.
We didn't swim in the pools though they looked very nice but, well, when you have a beach and salt water why bother.
The resort is very laid back which we loved and check out on the final day was as simple as handing in the room key cards. I would definitely go again and the only thing I would change is that I would pack very little clothing - maybe a few bathing suits and a couple of casual dresses.
The resort is close to Willemstad and you can pay 2$ american to take a mini bus any day into it. Costs 2$ to come back. The bus stop is right outside the resort. The Resort runs a free shuttle bus but you have to book the day before you want to go and the bus leaves at 9:30 a.m.
Curacao really is paradise.

The perfect vacation
Sometimes when booking a vacation it's easy to be woe'd by the hyper perfection of marketing photos. Many times there has been a slight sense of disappointment upon reaching your destination and the slick images you saw on your computer screen don't actually live up to reality. This was not the case with the Sunscape resort in Curacao. Reality was even better than the promotional images. The beach with it's encompassing breakwater sheltering the shore from rolling waves was a perfect combination[... read more] of greens and blues, perfect for paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling. There was an abundance of interesting fish and sea life to observe in the crystal waters.
The food was really appealing , Oceania was a favourite with it's fresh fish dishes and great beach location.Excellent entertainment in the evenings especially the solo performers with trumpet and saxophone. The staff was always friendly and eager to help out with connecting to internet and car rental.
Over all it was one of the best trips I've ever taken and would gladly recommend Sunscape to anyone.

Absolute Paradise!
I recently stayed at Sunscape Curacao and loved it! Check-in was effortless and within no time we were laying on the beach. Later on in the afternoon we took a chance and asked front desk for an up-graded room, they were more than helpful! For a small price we found ourselves in the Sunclub building with the most beautiful Oceanview room with a huge sliding door leading to the balcony. We actually slept with our sliding doors open listening to the crashing waves. ( absolutely no bugs )
We were [... read more]very pleased that there were no line ups to get drinks or at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants wait times were minimal. The buzzer they supplied allowed you to enjoy yourself elsewhere until your table was ready. Although we enjoyed all of our meals, our favourite was the ribs at the Grill.
The grounds were well kept and there was plenty of chairs and shady spots available. The man made cove was what we enjoyed most of all. It was so nice to swim in the calm ocean every day.
If your looking for some entertainment, the entertainment staff do a great job! There is plenty of daytime activities and the nightly entertainment is a lot of fun, especially the fire show. There is also spectacular dinner shows. (usually singers) If your looking for nightlife the island has it all! A 5minute walk down the street from Sunscape is Mambo Beach. Many small shops and restaurants and dance parties on the beach with DJs that party till morning.
All in all our trip was absolutely fantastic. Friendly people, rich culture, great food and drinks, and stunning views. I'd highly recommend visiting Sunscape Curacao. Weather your younger or older this resort caters to all and the diverse mix of vacationers adds to your overall experience.

Amazing first time in Curacao!
Traveled here from Apr 5-12 with my bf. We are in our early 30s and had an amazing time! We first were placed in an older, ground floor room. on our 3rd day we asked to move and we're moved to the Royal Tower. This made our trip an entirely different experience - so definitely upgrade! The view was amazing! We found the people extremely friendly and helpful and the food was great. We had no issues getting into the restaurants (no reservations required) although we tend to eat a little later. Ther[... read more]e is no night life but the Mambo Beach next door has lots and was so much fun! All in all a great, relaxing trip. No overcrowding at beach or restaurants and people were always more than willing to help us with anything we requested. Highly recommend it!

Great vacation
Resort was great, people were very kind, felt very safe, we were at the older end which was really nice and the beach was great, a lot of chairs. We liked the great dinners outside and the men could wear dress shorts with shirts...no long pants! Would return for another vacation.

A Little Slice of Heaven!
Our family stayed at the Sunscape Curacao from Mar 22-29/15, and had an amazing week! We all enjoyed the fact that it was a small resort, and everything - pools, beach, bars, restaurants, and our rooms were within a short walking distance.
We stayed in a garden view room, which was very spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable, and other than hearing loud music from Mambo Beach a few nights, we slept well. Blankets are not supplied in the rooms, so do ask for one as[... read more] the air conditioner blows right over top of the beds. We had a huge balcony with a table and 2 chairs, as well as a drying rack for swimsuits. The only complaint we had about the room was that when you showered, the water would flood the floor. The glass door did not fit the tub very well, and the ledge around the tub was not level, so the floor got soaked. We dealt with the problem by putting a beach towel on the floor along the edge of the tub. It might be helpful, however, if the shower door was replaced with a shower curtain.
There was a good variety of food with the restaurants. We ate at the buffet in the morning and at lunch, and twice for dinner. Coffee service was slow in the morning, so maybe having a self-serve coffee bar would be helpful. The breakfast smoothies were great, but again long line ups, so maybe having two people making them would shorten the wait. The guacamole at lunch was a big hit, and we loved having all the fresh fruit (especially the passion fruit!!). When we stayed in Aruba, they only served canned fruit! Our favorite al la carte was the Japanese restaurant -- we ate there twice. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious ... a special "shout-out" to Kurt, who did a great job cooking and entertaining us. The seafood restaurant was also very good, and we were seated at a table right on the beach. The Italian was good as well, although the service was really slow.
Although the beach is not very long for walking, it is beautiful. We loved being able to snorkel right off the beach. The break-wall helps keep the water calm, and it was so clear you could see the tiny fish swimming by. We did take our water shoes as recommended by other reviewers, but found we did not need them. The pools were clean and close to the beach. Part of the pool is under a covered gazebo, which was a great place to relax if you needed time out of the sun. The swim up bar was great too, and usually very busy!
The bartenders did an amazing job handling the lineups--even when we showed up with our tray of thermal mugs! They served a variety of drinks, and always offered a special "drink of the day". Our favorite was frozen lemonade, coconut rum, and blue curacao..."lemon smurf"! We also really enjoyed the coffee bar where they would make cappuccinos, lattes, and espressos. Our only complaint is that they closed too early (10 pm). It would be better if they stayed open until 11 pm to accommodate the late night diners (coffee is not served at night after dinner in the restaurants, or at least it was never offered).
The ambiance of this resort was very relaxing. They had the most beautiful music playing all day long that was never loud or intrusive. The evening entertainment was top notch. The bands that played around the poolside in the evening were extremely talented, and we were always sad when they finished their last set. We had a special treat on our last night with "Carnivale" -- the music and the costumes were amazing, and made us feel like we were in Rio.
All in all, we had a wonderful vacation at this resort... great sunshine with a constant gentle breeze, good food, beautiful beach, warm, friendly people. We've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to many different islands over the years, and I think Curacao is one of our favorites. Next time though, we'll stay for 2 weeks!
