Good for the price

Overall, good resort if you are travelling with friends/family. 20 mins from airport There are a LOT of pools and VIP areas thus, resort is quite segregated. (different types of VIP - lifestyles beach and harmony beach are for timeshares, VIP - junior suites access) No issues with getting a chair around the pools as there are not many people there. Beach was nice, lots of rocks/seaweed in the water in some places, to find a spot that works for you. Waves can be quite strong at times for child [... read more]ren including the undertow. Entrainment was good when they had it. As the resort is so large, I felt the entrainment staff were quite spread out. All bartenders were fantastic and no complaints with the alcohol. Buffet (pearl) was good (even for a picky eater) but did not have a lot of options. Brazilian and Italian al la cartes were amazing. Spa services were good - if you book a massage, you get to use the pools, hot tubs, sauna all week. upgrading to the Junior suite was worth it - room was beautiful - AC worked amazing, sometimes too cold - fridge is only stocked once/week - water daily. if you want it stocked more often, find the guy filling the rooms, tip him a few $$ and he will fill it every day for you. - Junior suite comes with VIP beach access - this area was a long walk from Cofresi but there were lounge beds, bartender service to your lounger and you could order food (food was good, sushi available as well). No pool or actual beach in this area but there were a few "cold tubs". the only time i was bothered for timeshares were outside of the Buffett but this only happened maybe twice The only downfall I found was: The golf carts!. Members get access to the golf carts and drive them around ALLLLLL the time forcing me off the path onto the grass to walk. Shuttles are slow thus, you are forced to walk everywhere. Was it worth the money - Yes Would I return - No

Good resort

Overall it was a very good resort. The service was great and the place kept very clean. The food was good and restaurants were excellent. The only low point of the trip was having so many places that were vip only. At times it would be discouraging to go to a bar or event to find out that you were not aloud in,

Beautiful Amazing resort

The grounds, food, pool beach set up, employees all amazing! Lots of stairs but for those who don't want to take them, there's lots of alternate routes or upgrade to VIP and get a golf cart to help you out.

Beautiful resort

Beautiful place. But not Mobil friendly. A lot of stairs. Rooms were alittle older but very clean. We had a wonderful time. Beach was beautiful. Lots of wind. Had a great time in the water. Food was great. Very nice people.

Misleading !!!

The resort pictures are very misleading. The resorts itself is ok, but not for the anyone who has walking issues or family friendly with small children - a lot of stairs on the Cofresi side. The rooms, aswell on the Cofresi side are unsatisfactory for the price. Some had no air, no hot water in most rooms, patio doors do not lock and overall below any standards. The food was ok - breakfast was the same daily, lunch and dinner on the upgrade side had more choices. There were a few pools to choose [... read more] from, but they too needed upgrading. It is farther then the indicated distance from the airport and don't ask for any upgrade you will just get the excuses. Overall, very disappointing resort for the money and will not be returning.

Great stay

The resort was very clean and enjoyable. Although my room was next to construction of a new building we still enjoyed our stay. I recommend a jr sweet for they are much much more nicer then your basic room. Food was good and staff were very friendly.

Good Bang for your Buck

This hotel is good value for your money. The food was really good and far better than I had expected. The pools were nice and lots of options for different locations and atmosphere. The beach was nice. The water was a little bit rough but we still managed to swim. On Sunday's it's a lot of local people's day off work so we noticed the beach was filled with local people. We did not travel VIP and noticed a difference in service. It was very segregated and unfortunately the entire complex was set up like that. The resort is very big and it was a lot of stairs and walking. I wouldn't recommend this resort to someone with mobility issues. Definitely not accessible. The weather was great, we had one day of rain which was in the middle of our stay and a nice break from the sun. The kids club was amazing, they did some pretty cool activities with the kids, horse back riding, a trip to Ocean World and painting and crafts. Once we figure out we could access the Tropical Resort restaurants and pools we quickly began taking advantage of that. It was much closer to our room and less stairs. Our room was a descent size and I requested a third bed as I traveled with my daughters age 7 and 8 and we all slept better in our own beds. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, small rooms, small fridge which had 2 beer and a couple waters and pops in it. The fridge was only stalked once during our 7 days. All and all a nice resort. I would recommend it however, not sure I would go back again. There are so many places I want to travel, I liked this resort but I didn't love it!

Nice Vacation

We just returned home from Confressi Palm Beach Resort April 4th. We had a great time. The resort is very big and lots of stairs so not great for anyone with any physical difficulties. The room was clean but dated our bathroom ceiling was leaking upon arrival but fixed quickly are view the Frost Bar and pool so nice access for my grandson traveling with me. The food was good plentiful staff was pleasant and helpful. We did visit Ocean World and enjoyed it but for what we got it was way over pric [... read more]ed. I do not believe I would travel with air transit again as the cabin crew service was the worst I ever experienced, the food choices on board were limited and not that it was the airlines fault the 2 hour delay coming home was not a pleasant experience. I had been to the resort before when it was Sun Village in 2006 and would probably go back again but would upgrade to a junior suite. I am not a beach person but other people seemed to enjoy it. Lots of pools to choose from.

Amazing resort -lots of walking

Me and my boyfriend just got back and we had an amazing time at this resort. The grounds are alittle old but very well maintained. The rooms and very big and nicely kept. Be ready for lots of walking unless you are a VIP (u get a golf cart) if not be prepared for lots of stairs and walking uphill. TERRIBLE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE

Rooms had good space but bath tubs are rusted, along with door knobs. Occasionally, you couldn't twist open the doorknobs. The bathroom showers were old also add there was plenty of rust visible. Air conditioners were very loud and didn't allow you to sleep in peace. This resort is 4 properties combined to make it one huge resort.To eat for example, you were to go all the way to another area of the resort. Similarly, there were different places to go for breakfast, dinner and lunch. These place [... read more]s were so far from each other, and not walking distance. There were many ramps and many, many stairs. Although the food was absolutely amazing, we thought the resort was way too big. You have to pay seperately for internet $25, for locker $20 etc. To get to one place to another, you needed to grab a ride, either a shuttle or a golf cart. The golf cart was only available for VIPs, but occasionally, non VIPs could go. The drivers there also excepted a tip each and every ride. The resort had 2 main types of members: VIPs and Non-VIPs. The non VIPs had 3rd class treatment. The beaches were shabby, and treatment in general was bad. There were only some places you could go to eat, whereas VIPs had a variety of styles to try out that they could eat at whenever they pleased, such as Indian, Brazilian and more. Non VIPs had to make reservations days before, and hope that the areas were not booked out. VIPs could go and eat whenever they wanted. Pools and Beaches were badly maintained. The VIP beaches were beautiful, with beds and hammocks and many other luxury items. They also had staff waking around ready to serve you. This again, was only in the reach of a VIP member whereas a Non VIP had to walk around to the other side of the beach for food. How do we know this as Non- VIPs, Out side the different eating areas, were a number of staff members who were waiting to force you into buying VIP service. This was given to people who just came to the resort the day before. They will butter you into their office and then take you on a tour and then try to convince you to get the VIP service and the time share. It was of ALL THE VIP SPOTS, to convince you to buy this VIP package. Although it was appealing, it also had many catches. The inequality faced by the non VIP members was unfair. Entertainment was poor and consisted of badly choreographed moves and no hardworking dancers. Props were amazing, and could make an amazing show if used properly which they weren't. You pay for a resort for a relaxing trip, to get rid of stress. This resort treated us differently, and we didn't get the treatment we paid for. In conclusion, we will not be visiting this resort again. This also left a bad impression of the whole Island of Dominican THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING. IF YOUR NOT VIP, GOOD LUCK.

Fantastic Vacation

We stayed for 1 week at the resort and we had a great time!! We arrived in the middle of the night so it was a bit confusing but by the third day it was a breeze to get around. There is a lot of stairs but no worries that keeps your cardio up for when you eat the awesome food at the resort. I can honestly stay the food was great from the buffet to the many a la cart restaurants to choose from.I would like to give a shout out to Lucy and Francesco aka Denzel for making our night at the Moonlight  [... read more]restaurant a night to remember(mama wanna). We never had a problem finding a lounger at the beach or the pool and never waited more than 5 minutes for a shuttle. The staff were very accomadating and friendly. The gym at the spa was clean and pretty good for a quick little workout before you hit the beach. The resort is big but it spread out nice so it never feels busy. The room we stayed in was very clean (building 305) and was pretty central to everything. We will definitely be going back to Confressi Resort

Amazing Resort!!

We just came back from the Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort and we can't wait to go back. The service was phenomenal, the food was amazing and the grounds were so well kept. See you next year as this is going to be our annual destination!!

Big resort small challenges

Great pools and lots of them. Never felt crowded. Food was typical all inclusive freshly made and repetitive. Our toilet kept breaking down, pillows were the worst ever. The room was spacious and extremely clean. There were "streams" flowing into the ocean and the smell was bad. Turns out it was grey water from what we figured was the sewage filtration system. If you don't like stairs this place is not for you.

Would not go back

Where do I start, I suppose it wasn't a total bust but.... -6 out of the 8 days the water was luke warm at best making for a uncomfortable shower. -power outages were frequent -an abundance of cockroaches in our room (they did upgrade us to a spa suite which was bug free and a little nicer -Although we did get sick from the food, there was not a very large selection of food at the buffet. -The "Lifestyle Club" that they are promoting is very irritating. The Confresi section is in dire need  [... read more]of updating but their main focal seems to be to push the timeshare. -Room refridgerator were not restocked unless requested. Lack of having a casual drink in a bar unless you were a VIP member - No onsite entertainment unless you took a shuttle off site. -Definitely not a place if you have issues walking due to the amount of stairs. That being said you had to watch out for private golf carts on the paths Most of the staff were friendly and due to the amount of pools on site there was always lounges available The spa was nice and offered a hot tub, pool, sauna and gym if you bought a massage or any other sevice they offered. You were able to use these amenities for the remainder of your stay if you so desired

AMAZING!!!

I stayed at the Cofresi Palm Beach with a group of 3 people during the week of Feb 21-28. Let me start off with saying how amazing this resort is. I have been to over 10 all inclusive resorts all over the Caribbean and this one is the best place I been too. Shuttle takes you. -Different food every lunch and dinner. -Good nightly shows. -Casino is 3 mins away & bus takes you there. -Clean. Cons: -Big resort ( a lot of walking and stairs). -Some alcartes are buffet. -There are many levels of vips in this resort, you might be denied in some places and some bars. -No snack bar that is open 24 hours, we arrived at 5pm to the resort and would not get food. -No lobby bar. -Bar closes at 12am but you can go to Tropical Resort which is open till 5am. -Timeshare place (didn’t bug me).

Great Value

We have been to Dominican Republic 20 times so this review has a good data base for comparison. If you are mobility challenged this is not the resort for you. There are a lot of stairs but if you like a little exercise after a great buffet then the value at this resort if fantastic. Food was good each night at the buffet and the Asian Grouper is the best I have ever had. Shuttle takes to "lifestyle" resort next to Confresi with is very nice but some areas are VIP owners only still a nice place to see. We are planning next year to return.

Not 'All' inclusive resort is a disappointment

The people in the Dominican are lovely, and most of the staff was friendly. This was our third trip to the DR, and this place was a disappointment My wife and I traveled with our three sons aged 26, 20 and 17. Our vacation was wonderful as a time of being together with my family, and we made great memories together. Breakfasts were very good for selection and freshness. Mexican restaurant was the best, with all of us loving our meals there. Indo-China restaurant was very good Moonlight res [... read more]taurant was also a nice dinner for all. The one we wanted, the Brazilian was unavailable. It was booked full, yet had several empty tables when we looked in. The last night on Monday, dinner was very limited in selection and very unpleasant; we ate little and were hungry. Another item since we were traveling with young men was the lack of snack options. When the restaurants close there is nothing to eat anywhere. If the bars are open, why not have food available? I also wanted to bring to your attention the lack of activities available to us at the resort. When some of us went to try our skills at archery, we were told to go to guest services to get a ticket at extra cost. The upgrade to do archery, or any of the activities, was $20/day/person with no guarantee of availability. This was one of the items which were definitely promoted as inclusive. We then went to the Air Transat Representative ‘Freddy’ who recognized that the website did clearly show archery as inclusive, but he could not help. We then approached the staff of the resort at guest services and were summarily dismissed being told “it is not included and our agency was mistaken”. We were very disappointed as this was one of the items that was most interesting to our family, having remarked about it before we booked. I corresponded with Air Transat about this and got a reply. They copied the website slide showing the inclusion on the website, in their response email. I even showed the email from Air Transat to the staff and they said it was not their responsibility to maintain the tour company's website. Several requests for service on our sons room AC were left unmet. Their room was hot and humid for the last 4 nights. No screen to keep out mosquitoes so the door remained shut. Our room’s AC was in need of maintenance as well as the intake filter was plugged allowing very little circulation of air which meant that the air that did come out the vent was very cold but almost no volume. Bathroom ceiling always dripping from condensation (I hope) Probably the most unpleasant experience was the septic system. The sign at the toilet paper rolls told us to dispose of soiled toilet paper in the waste basket beside the toilet, as the system cannot process the paper. This was accompanied by the smell of the septic system which was apparent throughout the 200 series of buildings and beyond. We have all been suffering from Montezuma’s revenge since our second last day as well. We will not be returning to this resort again, although we will return to the Dominican Republic.

Great vacation

We just got back from our honeymoon at this resort, and for the most part everything was great. Grounds: great landscaping, beautiful plants and flowers and very clean. when we booked, we thought it was a smaller resort, not realizing it is in the middle of a giant time-share-esque property. We took the tour just for kicks and after that, no one really bugged us for anything. There are, of course, guys selling stuff on the beach, but they were pretty low key. Room: We had a Junior Suite, Oce [... read more]an View...I guess building 40 technically has an Ocean view; we could see some water over the roof of the restaurant in front of us. This truly had no negative bearing on our enjoyment, however. The bathroom was very nice, bed was comfortable, lots of closet and drawer space. minor complaints; 1.This resort does not keep your in room fridge stocked with drinks. They had 3 beers, 1 pepsi and a 7-up in there as a "welcome gift". This is the first resort I've ever been to that does this, and I found it cheap and disappointing. 2. We had to rent the lock and key for the in room safe. Again, this is not a big deal, it was only $3/day, but seriously?? I found this to be also, cheap and kind of silly. Restaurants: Not as large a selection as some of the other resorts I've been too, but every selection was very tasty and well prepared. All the a la cartes were great too. Beach; the beach was super fun and very nice. The VIP beach area was also excellent if you could get a bed. We enjoyed the shops on the beach, the puppies, and everything else down there. Bars; The VIP bar, swim up pool bars and disco were all quite good. Drink quality is better in the VIP area (planned that way, i assume). One thing I liked, was that, although the bar staff was happy if you tipped them, I never got the feeling that it was expected every time, or that they were only serving the big tippers. Juana, Henry and waitress Raquel were our favorites. One thing I found odd and annoying was how difficult it was to spend money there. I know that sounds weird, but follow me... We wanted to buy a nice bottle of wine at the first a la carte and were informed that there is no wine list and no options to purchase any. We found out much later in the week that we could buy a bottle at duty free and bring it with us. This is the first place I've ever been to like this. Then there is the bank machine issue...they only give domincan dollars...no option for American. Then, on two occasions, 2 ATMs were not working. Again, none of this ruined our vacation or anything, but it's just annoying stuff. BIGGEST COMPLAINT: This was our honeymoon. We contacted the hotel in advance to inform them of this. I asked if there was anything free or even for purchase as far as a honeymoon package. I was told that the Honeymoon package was free, but they could not tell us what it was. I thought we might get a room upgrade, or an extra a la carte, or a discount on spa services...you know...something honeymoon-ish. All we got was a small plate of fruit. Pretty disappointing. All in all, it was a really nice, fun, lovely vacation. I'd give this place a 7.5/10 overall. Puerto Plata in general, impressed us.

Fair for the money

I got a one week all-inclusive (taxes included) for $1119. This is cheap considering the cost of other resorts for February 2017. I found that our room was clean, the air conditioning worked and the service was very good. There are only two things to note here for anyone considering this resort. First, there is a lot of walking since the resort is built on a hill. Therefore, going from your room to the upper level (lobby) or down to the beach will require some leg strength. Wondering Time

We had the time of our life, weather was great, food was excellent!!! But beware of the timeshare guys they are very push and try telling you they are only going to show you around the resort since it is so big, but that's not it, they will try everything for you to go with them. Overall was excellent.
