Loved the resort!

Everything about this resort was outstanding! The only complaint for the week would just be regarding the weather, other than that, the resort was amazing. Would absolutely return! I would advise anyone planning on staying to book their A la carte restaurants ahead of time by emailing the hotel. This ensures you will be able to try the restaurants available. I would recommend the Gourmet and Brazilian restaurants on the Akumal resort.

A truly amazing resort!

What an absolute beautiful resort. Everywhere we went on the resort everyone was working hard and smiling from the gardeners to the servers to the bartenders. The concierge called at least 3 times to make sure everything was good. The food was absolutely amazing, so many choices and always hot and fresh. From the clean bathrooms to the refilling of the mini fridge to the butler lighting up our scent warmer every night in the room. I have absolutely no complaints except it poured rain for 5 out of the 7 days we were there......... loved the shuttle service! I would definitely go again!!

Lovely Resort

Great Resort! my only 2 complaint's are, 1- the nightmare check-in service which was quickly resolved and 2- the mountains of seaweed on the rocky beach. Staff is nice, grounds well groomed, rooms clean, food plentiful and varied. Shows are typical all inclusive talent. All in all I would go to this resort again. The Luxury Hotel exceeds Coba and Tulum resorts on the same grounds. Its worth paying extra for the Luxury than the other 2.

Excellent resort

The grounds were very clean and well maintained. Very pleasing to the eye. The staff were friendly and courteous. One thing to be improved is the musty smell in the rooms due to humidity. The sulphur like smell every once in a while.

Great resort

Great resort, friendly staff and very good food. We loved the friendly staff from waiters, to drivers, to maintenance workers. Everyone was very helpful. We had a great week. We would love to come again.

Outstanding Food and Service

My husband and I have just returned from a 10 day stay at Bahia Principe Akumal. We were blessed with incredible weather. The resort is large but we had no problem getting around. Trolleys drive you and the walk is breathtaking. The grounds are gorgeous, filled with tropical flowers, plants and wildlife. Room service, which included 24hr. food, aromatherapy, pillow service and anything you needed was flawless. Our guy (butler) "Tony" was amazing and we gained a new friend. Great Family Vacation

I traveled here last week with my wife and 2 daughters in their 20's. We loved the resort and food was great! Since we stayed at the luxury resort, we had access to all restaurants. There was a ton to choose from, however book all these on your first day as they fill up fast. The buffet was very good as well. The pool was clean, warm and lots of open seats. The beach however was not as nice as expected but decent. The rocky shore line and limited area to swim in was unexpected and unlike other [... read more] beaches we have visited in the area. Variety of drinks was amazing! However the lobby bar closes early and the 24 hour bar was too out of the way to visit late at night.

Great Vacation

The resort is about 1.5 hours from the airport. The resort was beautiful, food was great. We tried several a la carte restaurants, Fruitas del Mar, Le Gourmet and Mexican (at Tulum) and they were all excellent. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have what you need/want. Amazing resort!

Resort is very busy, 100% occupancy. They didn't have a room with king bed. Had to take a room with 2 double beds. Offered to move me to a room with king bed when available (3 days). Other than that the place has been amazing. Food is good. Staff are wonderful. Resort is cool and breezy. Great view of the water. The complex is huge with plenty to do.

Perfect Vacation

The entire trip from Leaving Edmonton to arriving back seven days later went perfectly. We have absolutely no complaints and would definitely book with Tripcentral and Air Transat again. Great vacation.

Rocky start but all turned out well in the end!

In advance, sorry for the long review! I visited this resort from May 5th through 12th, with my fiancee. Check-In: We had booked a deluxe junior suite, which is located in the adult only block of rooms. When we checked in we noticed our building location was not even close to that block of rooms. The young man checking us in was not upfront about it. We eventually were able to speak to a manager and that type of room was not available. She originally said they *may* have one available the [... read more] next day. We were upset because it was a higher cost for that room type. She did say she would provide a credit that could be used at the spa or lobby shop, which to me isn't really a great solution. I will add, it also seemed as though she was hoping we'd stay in the first room, commenting a lot find the regular room just fine. Frustrating response, in my opinion. We were able to switch the next day, though it was a bit of an inconvenience because we had to carry around passports and wallets and what not in between giving up our first room and the second. Rooms: Very clean, stocked well. Cleaned well daily, except one day I left the towels on the floor because they were getting smelly. This, according to a sign in the bathroom, signifies to please switch them for fresh ones. They were simply hung back up. I did like having a little snack of a bag of chips in the room if you didn't feel like going to the snack bar. Butler service was excellent, they made sure to have our issues with the AC and shower draining dealt with well and quickly. Buffet: Excellent variety in the main buffet! I am not gluten free but noticed they had gluten free options, as well as many vegetarian options, we never went hungry. I will say Los Corales, which is breakfast/lunch buffet in the adult only area, had far less options, and had slower service. Still wasn't bad, though. The main buffet does get busy at lunch time, I feel like people from Sian Ka'an (which is far away) come there for lunch. I was under the impression we could only use the buffets on our own resorts, but I could be wrong. 24 hour snack bar had a decent selection. A La Cartes: Arlequin is EXCELLENT. Also went to Cozumel and Mikado on Coba which were good. I will note that a table near us at Arlequin had someone gluten free and they provided wonderful service and had many options for her. Side note, if you book your a la cartes on the app, go to the PR desk to get the tickets printed out. It makes it easier when you get to the restaurant. Also, if you email the resort ahead of time (info on the Bahia website), you can book your a la cartes within 2 weeks of your stay! Pool: Found them very clean however the two family pools had very limited shaded spots. Could use a few more umbrellas. There were the most activities and music at the main pool near the lobby. The adult only pool is a little more calm. There are a lot of shaded spots but if you want them, get there by 6am. I will note that the staff do enforce the adult only factor, contrary to some reviews I've seen. Beach: Plenty of chairs in the shade near the infinity pool beach area, however that is not the best part of the beach for swimming. The main beach area is best, and also has the most acitivies like yoga, zumba and water aerobics. If you want a very soft beach and a large/deep swimming area, this will not be the beach for you. Also, I noticed it was red flag almost every day even though the waters were quite calm. Not sure if they just didn't change it, because many were out in kayaks and catamarans. Decent snorkeling, I saw many fish, a crab and some squid in the adult only beach area. I am all about the beach at an all-inclusive, and unfortunately the beach is the only reason I wouldn't return to this resort. Bars: Excellent!! There are many around. Servers around the pools and beach (they may just be in the adult only area, I'm not sure) were wonderful, and almost any drink you could name the bartenders could make it. Great quality alcohol and drinks are definitely not watered down. Entertainment: The nightly shows were great, particularly the Michael Jackson Shows. I also recommend the Mexican Fiesta night up at La Hacienda (the main village area for all 4 resorts) which happens every Thursday, though you do have to pay 18 USD each. Can't speak to the disco, I was always too exhausted by 11:30 to go! I found it was mostly couples, weddings and family groups, and was lively but not really a party crowd, in case that's what you may be looking for! Resort overall: Very clean and well maintained. You will see iguanas, coatis and agoutis. Loved seeing them, and don't worry, they certainly don't bother anyone. Compared to the Bahia property in Punta Cana I found this one more spread out and therefore less conducive to walking, but with frequent trolley service and informative maps it was no issue. Just know, this is A LARGE property! I like large resorts personally but I know many don't. You could easily stay on Akumal, but I like seeing the other resorts and the main village area. Compared to the stall and shop sales people in Punta Cana, these people are not pushy AT ALL! It is a very comfortable environment. Safety: There are many security guards, and they check who comes in and goes out thoroughly. I know there are a lot of reports about safety in Mexico but I felt safer here than in Punta Cana. We did two excursions and felt very safe with them as well! Other: I spoke with PR at the resort about my fiancees birthday while we were there. They put a banner up on the door with balloons and put sparkling wine and chocolates in the room! All in all, the service is excellent and I did not find the staff expected tips at all. If your Spanish is rusty, I found 99% of the staff were fluent in English and many fluent in french.

Amazing vacation!

This resort is absolutely fantastic! The grounds are kept so clean and maintained. Food and service was fantastic and the adults only infinity pool is the cherry on the cake! Rooms are a little outdated but they are kept clean and mini fridge always restocked. 24 hour room service is a must try! 5 stars! Thank you trip central

Beautiful Resort

Very impressed with the resort for its cleanliness, size and friendly staff. Special mention about Dinaldo and Alberto at the front counter; they were very helpful to have our room changed. The first room given to us by the front desk staff (sorry did not get his name) after I requested a room with an ocean or at least a garden view when I booked my vacation in October 2017. Love this resort!

The whole resort is kept immaculate. The food was fantastic. I can't say enough good things about this resort. The people are so friendly. Our butler, Alex, went above and beyond what was required to do his job. We will definitely go back.

This resort is a big resort that has got it down perfect ,you wait mFor nothing,food was great, the staff were fanatic, don Paulo section buffet, Roberto and his crew amazing service,smiles,and self satisfaction,just serving you,2nd time for us and already planning next with the kids and spouses.

Beautiful beach, pools, and great food!

The easy access to the beach was great, and it was nice to have opportunities to visit other areas of the Bahia Principe resort. Food was excellent and staff was always friendly. We would definitely return for another relaxing trip!

Fantastic Resort

Beautiful grounds it is big but easy to get around. We couldn’t do any a la cartes because they were all booked up so that was disappointing. I think if it’s that busy maybe people should be limited? Only other recommendations would be more shelter at the pool. You must be up by 545 am to get shelter at the pool and that’s a bit early when you’re on holidays... Food was not bad but resort is overcrowded with 3000 guests and poor service

grounds were well kept, hotel looks very nice, pools, beaches all good. service sucked very badly in all locations, reception, dining , drinks etc... Hotel management couldnt care less, they are full up with unsuspecting tourists who they may never see again and are relying on volume. We are like cattle. Bahia Principe Akumal has set the bar high for my future Mayan Riviera vacations!

This resort is great for families, couples and big groups. We were in a large 30-some group for a wedding and they were always accommodating to our needs. My brother has a severe allergy to all dairy products and they were more than accommodating to that as well. The resort is well-maintained, clean and fun!! It has its own bar, buffet, bathrooms and you can always find a chair near the pool. The service at this resort is top-notch. There is always someone asking for your drink order wherever you are on the resort. The room service is great as well. Another great thing about this resort is the FOOD. The food is amazing!! Everything was so tasty, a huge variety to choose from. I was honestly blown away by the high standards of this resort. My ONLY complaint about this entire experience is that our rooms were quite damp because of the humid climate. The room had a musty-ish smell because of it. It also made sleeping a little uncomfortable at first. Thank you to everyone at Bahía Principe who made our Mayan Riviera trip absolutely unforgettable. I will definitely return!

Excellent place to go !!

We highly recommend this place , the ground , pool area & the beach are very well kept & clean even the seaweed was cleaned every day . Great service at the bar & the food was excellent . Snorkeling at the beach is like swiming in a aquarium . We were at the Akumal adult only and the room was very spacious & spotless ..would go back anytime.
