Excellent resort

I highly recommend this resort. This was my second trip to Cuba and by far the best time. The resort was extremely clean and the staff was very accommodating. They went above and beyond to make sure you were having a great time and enjoying all amenities to the fullest. Breathtaking views from our balcony which overlooked the resort pool and the ocean. Can't wait to go back. A special thank you to Odalyse who was our personal concierge, she was amazing and took very good care of us.

This resort was great ! Just the right size for this trip. Could use a little updating but is good. The staff, especially the main lobby bar staff were FANTASTIC ! This trip it rained every day, not a big deal. The name of the game is relaxation ! The front lobby entertainment and staff were awesome ! The facility was very clean. We travel to Cuba 4/5 times a winter and this will be our go to resort ! Kety, Mario, Alexander, Xavier and staff made the week ! Thanks Captian Kirk Carter

Nice resort

Smooth sanded waters, seaweed not problematic, the rooms decent, just the food was pretty salty.. entertainment was decent ... good place to take pictures. The tennis courts are better option than their gym room.

Bed bugs!

This hotel has bed bugs that need to be eliminated! Very disappointed about this issue! We were in room 1402 and that is where the problem is. Perhaps in other rooms as well. Cleaning staff must check for this problem daily.

Great Affordable getaway!

The entire resort was beautiful, I have been to Cuba plenty of times before and this is the most cleanest resort I’ve been too. Staff is great and food is decent, lobster meal amazing! Def would go back!

Déception sur toute la ligne!!!

Hôtel: Malgré un très beau site qui possède beaucoup de potentiel mais malheureusement très mal entretenu par exemple : Des trous aux plafonds et murs, infiltration d'eau dans tous les bâtiments sauf évidemment dans la section du Service Royal ($$$), spas sales et non fonctionnels, des tuiles de céramiques aux planchers sont soit manquantes ou brisées ce qui a pour résultat de causer des blessures indésirables surtout lorsqu’on a seulement 1 semaine de vacances. Chambre: Not [... read more]re chambre était malpropre, répugnante et j’en passe. Douche brisée qui pendait lamentablement, le bain était tellement surélevé que la structure entourant celui-ci était complètement sortie de son socle. La tête de lit était tellement souillée que nous pouvions croire que ces taches proviennent probablement des nuits intenses de nos prédécesseurs, etc. Nourriture: La nourriture étaient immangeable, froide, manquante, trop cuite. Fruits de mer inexistants (deux petites crevettes pannées de la grosseur des crevettes de Matane) et bien sûr froides, sèches et dures comme des semelles de bottes. Si vous voulez manger de la langoustine, il faut débourser un supplément de pesos pour une moitié de queue, mais là encore ne gaspiller pas votre argent, sèche et intensément salée. En ce qui concerne la viande, encore là tous avait le même goût, calcinés, coriaces et évidemment trop salés et difficile de dire quelle viande provienne de quel animal. Le hamburger : galette de viande d’ 2/16e de pouce d’épaisseur avec un pain hamburger et d’une feuille de laitue et que dire d’un sandwich jambon/fromage? Une tranche de jambon tellement mince qu’on pouvait voir à travers avec une tranche de fromage et ce n’est pas tout, ce n’est pas disponible tous les jours. En résumé, tout était froid, trop cuit, goûte tous la même chose que tu manges chinois, français, italien ou japonais et ainsi de suite. Service/Personnel: À notre arrivée même dès le premier jour, l’accueil de la réception était si impersonnel et distant qu’on se posait la question si on dérangeait tellement qu’on ne se sentait pas les bienvenus et c’est ainsi pendant 1 semaine. Le service de réservation des restaurants à la carte, les heures d’ouvertures sont de 9h00 à 12h00 et de 13h00 à 16h00 mais entretemps il y a un break d’une demi-heure et la plupart du temps il n’y a qu’un seul employé pour nous servir, la salle était toujours bondée et on devait s’organiser entre nous pour savoir l’ordre d’arrivée de chacun et prévoir un minimum de 1h30 d’attente. Je pourrai continuer ainsi pour longtemps mais je vous épargne les petits détails désagréables. SVP ne pensez pas que je me plains pour me plaindre et que c'est ma première fois sur le sol Cubain. Pour avoir voyagés (minimum 8 fois) à Cuba (donc Santa Clara, Holguin, Guardalavarca, Cayo Coco, etc.), parfois deux fois à la même place depuis 2001, je peux me baser sur les autres « resorts » pour pouvoir faire la différence entre celui-ci et les autres endroits. Paradisus Princessa Del Mar n’arrive pas à la cheville des autres hôtels, côté propreté, nourriture, service, employés etc. Pour conclure, nous avons décidé de prendre un hôtel 5 étoiles pour avoir un 4 mais cet hôtel est loin d’être un 5 mais plutôt un 2.5 mais au prix d’un 5 étoiles ($$$). Pour la première fois qu’une semaine est trop longue pour nous, au bout de quatre jours, nous avions déjà hâte de rentrer chez nous. Très très déçus de notre expérience à Varadero mais surtout au Paradisus Princessa Del Mar, première et dernière fois.

Not a 5 Star Resort, more like a 2 Star

We had two cockroaches in our room, need I say any more about this resort. The resort was under staffed, and service was slow. Extremely disappointed in food - hardly any vegetables and fruit. Lukewarm shower every day in our room. The rooms are tired looking and need a renovation. We are non-smokers, and could smell smoke through the ventilation system in our room. Another negative point is visitors have to buy wifi, and the only place to use it is in the bar/lounge area, where the majority of people are smoking. The positive side of this resort is the beach was amazing, clean blue water and white soft sand. We will never return to this resort in Cuba, and it should not have received a 5 star rating, more like a 2 or 3 star. Very disappointed after spending so much money on this vacation.

Nice resort but not a 5 stars

Location is very nice, not to big not to small. Varadero legendary sand beach. Food and service is excellent except with 1 of the A-la-carte restaurant. Bamboo restaurant needs to be overalled. The major weakness is no water pressure and/or no hot water! This is a no go even for a 4stars location!

4th time in 4 years

The beach is the most beautiful we have been to. Although the selection of food may have gone down there is always something offered. We enjoyed our stay as usual and will probably go back. Being so familiar, easy and quick getaway to shorten our winter!

The Resort was okay, I would rate it as a 3.5

The Rooms could use some upgrades. The grounds were very clean and well maintained. I would rate the beach a 5 out of 5. Very clean,no seaweeds. The staff in the dining room was very friendly, got to know a few of them where hugs were being shared on the last day of the vacation.

Disappointed for Christmas

Review of Paradisus Princessa del Mar in Varadero Cuba This hotel was rated a 5 star, but beware it is far from that. THE FOOD: in a word, AWFUL. Even by Cuban standards, the quality was terrible along with the selection. Very little shrimp on any menus and you had to pay extra to have lobster. I actuallly lost wight on this vacation. THE ROOM: large room with a garden view. The headboard of our king size bed actually had sperm stains on it. The shower head was not installed properly and lea [... read more]ked. We had to ask every day for face cloths. THE STAFF: front desk and reception people not very warm and friendly, same thing for most of the bar tenders. Waitresses and our maid were very nice and friendly. THE PROPERTY: is a beautiful property but sadly not well maintained. Many of the restaurants and the lobby have sustained damage from storms in the last year or two and have yet to be repaired. Mostly holes in ceilings. The beach is not cleaned of seaweed regularly enough, only after we complained about it they decided to do a clean up. To top it off, we had lousy weather over Christmas so we never had the chance to enjoy the pools or the ocean. But happily enough my wife and I manged to have fun regardless of the situation because after all we were on vacation.

Paradisus Princessa del Mar

this was our 4th. visit to this resort, we did like it as we were well treated in every thing, this time it was a catastrophy, starting with the room: old, main door hard to open , closet doors hard to open, no coffee, the block was far away from every thing, the food was the same every day, no potatoes ,no cooked green vegies, beef I couldn't cut with the knife, fish smell bad, no soups no hot oatmeal, no hard cheese, the best restaurant (hill top) that we love so much before was awful , we g [... read more]ot the special meal for the return ones, it was the same as the regular menu, the wine I had to spit it out (and if I want to be among Chinese I go to China) sorry) AND the wash rooms dirty N.B.: I request a quote to move to the Royal side, it was 75 pesos/day/each, visa was accepted in exchanging to US $ Cuba want us to buy pesos and sell them when leaving. Wonderful vacation

Our stay in Varadero was great even though we had heavy rain six of seven days. The resort was great the grounds are well laid out so even in rain it was easy to get around. The Staff were amazing especially the lobby bar. Ketty Mario Axavier Alexander and the rest kept the party going even through the days of rain. Our rooms were very clean with great views. Resort Was Beautiful

The beach was awesome, the grounds were beautiful and the pools were gorgeous! The room was lovely, the dining rooms were excellent. The staff were mostly very friendly. My only complaint was that when I asked for 2 bottles of wine for my room at night it didn't always happen. Wasn't interested in fancy drinks so couldn't understand why my request was a problem.

A Great Stay

This a sweet resort with amazing staff. We stayed on the regular side. We enjoyed our week very much. The everyday buffet wasn't phenominal but we managed to eat well. The booked restaurants were amazing and Sakura (Japenese) was by far the absolute best. The 24 hour eateries run out of stuff quite often but you can still manage to get a bite to eat. Would stay again with the knowledge that it is about a 3star resort by Canadian standards.

A huge, beautiful resort

After a day in the regular resort, we upgraded to the Royal Service area, which is what I thought I had booked. The Royal Service was well worth the additional expense. The rooms were not only bigger but more luxurious and included all the amenities we expect in a North American hotel, whereas the rooms in the regular resort did not. Very good resort.

My husband and I went to Cuba for the first time for a much- needed rest. It's a well -run place on a beautiful beach. The food was OK for us as vegetarians, but better food labeling is recommended. The buffet staff was so nice and kind, in spite of being run off their feet! They appreciated my humble attempts at Spanish. Our room was very nice on the third floor of building five, but we got lost the first 2 days there, as they all look the same! Large signposts with directions to the number [... read more]ed buildings would be helpful. The numbers on the buildings are hidden by the palm leaves! There were many activities offered, but we went to rest and get some sun and fresh air, so didn't partake in any. The constant music was also not to my taste. A little silence is nice !We saw one excellent mini- circus presented in the evening. The activities start at 930. We preferred getting up very early and walking on the beach as the sun rose- very beautiful and peaceful. I got the stomach bug on the last day- not sure from where. Everything was very clean. it must have been from one of the excursions. Since being home I have been sick for 5 days, but it hasn't taken away the nice time we had there. The Cuban people are very warm-hearted and it was a pleasure to visit their country. We hope to go back again. If you stay at this resort, remember that it is almost the end of the line from Varadero and almost the last stop after they let everyone else off at all the other hotels. When you arrive late, you have to add another 30 minutes from the first drop off.

Comfortable and nice resort

Just came back from this resort. What we liked the most - was the beach and the ocean . Room was spacious, beds comfortable. Food very average, poor selection, quality even poorer. A la cart restaurants , specially International and Asian - big disappointment. But this is Cuba. Another disappointment - evening entertainment. We were expecting much much better. Overall - we enjoyed our week in this resort.

Million Dollar Beach

I loved the layout and size of the resort. Everything was reasonably close by. The staff was friendly and extremely hard-working. All the facilities were in good repair and the lighting was exceptional at night. Food was okay. We were able to book 4 a la carte restaurants. At lunch we had access to the main buffet, a BBQ buffet near the beach, the snack bar or an a la carte Italian/pizza restaurant. We were close enough to walk to the nearby marina where there were restaurants, shops and an [... read more] artisan market. My 3 complaints would be: beach chairs are in need of replacement (most are sagging and cracked), no mint or lime and the wheelchair accessible door to the main buffet was blocked by a table (there were guests in wheelchairs and with walkers). Overall a wonderful holiday.

Great for what we paid!

My husband and stayed here during the first week of December 2019. We had a very relaxing and fun time at Paradisus. Here are the pros and cons: PROS: -The resort grounds and landscape are beautiful and very well maintained. -Hotel room was large, comfortable and clean. We were given an upgrade to a large room in the Royal Service area because none of the Standard rooms were available when we arrived. -Lots of fun programs and activities at the resort and beach -Very friendly staff and se [... read more]rvers -The beach is beautiful (we didn't use the pools) CONS: -Reception did not give us an orientation when we arrived. No information on the map of the resort, meal times or programs. We saw that another group that had arrived the next morning received an orientation so I'm not sure why we didn't even if we arrived later in the evening. -The food at the buffet was okay (we had low expectations) but some of the a la carte restaurants were very disappointing. A lot of the meals were the same food served at the buffet, but with different sauces. -A lot of mosquitoes in the royal service building - we went there for dinner at the Miramar -Some of the lights in our hotel room didn't work, but it wasn't a big deal
