Hotel has seen better days

The hotel itself was not what I had expected from the photos. It was actually quite ran down in certain areas. Our room had a bad musty odor. The ceiling started to leak on my bed in the middle of the night. Which continued until the ceiling actually crumbled down onto the floor and bed. They did switch us to a suite which unfortunately when I went to shower had overflowed over the entire floor and into the hallway and down the elevator. This had to be repaired also. There should have been more carts picking up the tourists on the grounds because the wait was quite long in between pickups. Entertainment was satisfactory but could have had a disco going later into the evening. Pools were not bad. The beach chairs were not the most comfortable. Beach was disappointing.

Pretty Nice Resort

Resort was clean, people were friendly. Cleaning staff were amazing with the full on clean they did of our room every day. Mini Fridge was stocked daily with plenty of water and other options for drinks Didn't like being bombarded with Time Share people the minute we hit the ground at the airport and again at the hotel. Food was good, beach smelled bad but the water was warm. Hotel should wash/disinfect bar glasses instead of dipping them in dirty water. Bartenders should stop pouring alcoh [... read more]ol down tourists throats. Seen a lot of people get hurt, falling down drunk and passing out where they shouldn't be passing out. Be careful of golf carts as they go too quickly down paths. Party pool was fun, but preferred the quiet pool.

Nice place but not for young person

The hotel is very nice. Food in buffet and italian restaurant were really good. The staff was gentil and every thing was beautifull and clean. The only thing that I less liked is ‘’the americanisation’’ of the hotel... I felt like was in the USA. Ex: The buffet food, the music, the travelers, every employes was talking in english... It takes four days to have new water bottle in the room and they never change the sheets during the 11 days we were there.

Good and bad

The Good- Service was great, premises were clean, lots of chairs on the beach and near the pool, lot's of wildlife to see, animation staff were great and many games to play, buffet was ok and restaurants were great. The Bad- Loud hallways, early door knocking from cleaning staff, no swim up bar, food poisoning on the last day that I'm still dealing with. At least 6 other people were sick throughout their trip that I know of. Good resort

Resort was nice. Food was good, buffets generally had the same things, but you could always find something good to eat. À la carte restaurants were very good. Maintenance of the building could be better, parts of the ceiling in one of the main areas was falling down after raining. Overall, for the price everything was good.

Beautiful Setting

Nice vacation.Good buffet. Water for showers sometimes on the cold side. A la carte seafood dinner was a letdown.Staff mostly helpful and friendly. Was not always easy to find a beach chair.Too many were "Reserved" by having a towel laid on them.Beach vendors were polite and not overly aggressive.We were pleasantly surprised at the lack of bugs! Beach was well maintained (seaweed cleanup etc.)

It is ok

Customer service at frant desk was bad no AC for few nights and it was hot.the room had this smile.which was not good when you do not have AC.at the beach when you want to go to water there was lots of shorp rocks you can not go.the food was good .

Great experience

The hotel is very large and there is a long walk to the beach. Lucky I enjoyed these long walks. The main pool with many great activities and a large buffet restaurant are located on the beach. This combination worked really well for my family as no one was missing out on anything. The beach was beautiful and we did a lot of snorkeling in a nearby cenote. The entertainment and the night shows were exceptionally well done.

Great Time

Overall a good resort. Stayed in building 5....best one in my opinion (close to the beach, close to beach bar and close to Jaal-Ha Restaurant....waiter Augustine was the best and treated us like gold) Rooms were clean and decorated nicely. Maid service was perfect .....with a new towel animal every day. Beach had some seaweed but was raked and cleaned up every day. As for the a la carte restaurants tried the Italian (very good), Steakhouse (very good food....waiter a little unconcerned/un [... read more]friendly) Mexican (good) Buffet restaurants were good....plenty of choices for everyone. Construction going on at 1 pool....didn't bother us....maybe if you were in building 4 it may have (supposed to be finished mid Dec 2018). Entertainment nightly at Black and White Sports Bar was great.

Amazing resort

This resort was absolutly stunning! Would recommend it to any one wanting a good for value resort! We will be returning forsure! Very close to playa which was a bonus! We really enjoyed our time here food was great pools were great and of course the drinks were awesome!

Third trip

Just got back from our third trip to Blue Bay. We absolutely loved it again and already booked for 2 weeks in February. We have absolutely no complaints other than we weren't there long enough. The large pool at the beach was under construction for some needed revamping. We look forward to seeing it finished when we return. All services were wonderful. Thanks again

Would not go back

The scam started as soon as we got off the plane. I asked one person directions to the bus and she took me over to a guy at a booth. He asked where I was staying and I told him, he then asked if I wanted to go on excursions while I was there, of course the answer was yes. He told me about a deal and that I would have to meet him the next day for 90 minutes for a tour. I agreed, naive I guess. We finally made it to our bus and to the hotel. Right off the start we were greeted by a gentleman who t [... read more]ook us to a table and said he was going to make sure we had a good time. He asked if I had spoken to anyone at the airport and I said yes and explained what happened. He then offered to take my tickets and give me new ones so I do not leave the hotel with someone else. Again we had to meet for 90 minutes the next day. I still had no idea why we were meeting, just thought it was what every guest does. It turns out to be like a Time Share they want you to get on board with. If we wouldn't have stayed for the 90 minutes I would have lost the opportunity to go on my excursion. No one tells you to "BEWARE", again just thought everyone did this. The first 2 days put a damper over our vacation and I probable will not visit Mexico again.

Very good resort

very well kept. looks like it has had many upgrades, food and service were A1. The only down fall is this CIRCLE ONE company that wastes a morning of yours trying to get you to buy into their travel company. If you can avoid that ,its better

Terrible experience

I went towards the end of the month and my sister and I were harassed to go to some sales meeting. They called my room several times. Waited outside our building we ended up having to hide just to try and enjoy our visit. Aside from the harassment the rest of the staff was very friendly. I just had to avoid the lobby as much as possible. The food and alcohol also tastes terrible. Never going back

Underwhelmed

So, where to start? The hotel room was a bit rough around the edges. The bath was dirty, the shower curtain, dirty. The countertop, dirty. There were cockroaches in the room. Now onto the food and beverages. Everything is disgusting. Don’t bother eating or drinking anything. The staff were pretty friendly. Pool was nice, but the beach was grungy. And lastly, we were harassed constantly to attend a seminar. Even after saying “no” many times. Other than that we had a great time...

Overall good resort

First time in Mexico. August 14 to 19 for my Birthday. Grounds, public areas and rooms are very nice. We tried 4 a la carte restaurants ( French, Mexican, Stake and Seafood) and all were good. People, worker's on the resort are nice and cheerful. The beach looks nice, but the ocean is full of seaweeds. The water is shallow and you have to walk through seaweeds, which is not pleasant. Pool : Very nice pools, pretty clean, but very crowded on a weekends as all guest are in the water and very few can go to the ocean and it was hot! hot! Pool water was hot as well. Also, I didn't like that people eat on the pool. The grounds around the pool look and get dirty , plus the birds and animals are coming for food. Entertainment: Quite good during the day. Little disappointed how the show stage is plane, but the dancers were OK. Management:My husband lost his band, as he ripped it of the pool walls ( you have to climb to exit, there are few steps only and far from the beach side and shade), and couldn't find it. We had to pay. I think that was not aright way to do it., They should take our explanation in the consideration. Overall we had very nice time, as I was with my kids and husband for a big reason. I would recommend this resort partially. For food , stay and entertainment for example.

Great Trip

Let's first start with the resort itself. The place is massive so be prepared to walk a lot to get from building to building. If you like to stay at the main pool or the beach, if you're situated in Building 4 or 5, you have a long walk to get to the main buffet or a la carte restaurants for dinner. Despite the resort being so spread out in size, it really is a beautiful place. The Pool Area is nice. These are the main pools. I was a bit disappointed to not have a swim up bar, especially since the water in the pool was virtually a hot tub. The Beach: It's seaweed season apparently at the moment. So the water isn't that clear blue colour from your dreams ;) At the start of our trip, the seaweed was in piles along the beach. My guess is they pile it to let it dry because within 2-3 days, it was gone. Despite the water being darker in colour, we still stayed at the beach more than we did the pool. We swam in the ocean multiple times and it was no problem for us. Far more refreshing than going into the hot tub that was the pool. The beach only had one bar which was the only downfall. It was always packed and there were always lots of people at the bar. There's also a great little lagoon to visit. If you're looking at the ocean, turn to your left and walk about 10 minutes. You won't regret visiting this little paradise. The Room: Very well air conditioned. Got too cold at one point. It has everything you need for a standard room. Nothing more, nothing less. Washrooms were great, shower is great. The food: By far the best food I have had at a resort ever. The main buffet near the lobby was a pretty good hike from our room so we typically ate breakfast at the beach buffet. This restaurant became an a la carte at dinner so it's only available for breakfast and lunch. We never really ate lunch there as we'd typically walk to the lobby area to get some drinks at the sports bar before heading to lunch at the main buffet. We ate dinner at the seafood a la carte (beach buffet during the day) first. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I'd put in that middle area that you'll be content with but won't have good things to say. The food tasted good, it just didn't have enough seafood for me to call it seafood. We did the Mexican a la carte next which was amazing. really good food and great vibe in the restaurant. The last a la carte we did was Italian. This was also really really good. Very romantic setting if you're celebrating anything special. There was also a french a la carte and a steakhouse which we were unable to try because we had booked excursions and got back late.But I heard both are fantastic. Staff: Contrary to some reviews we read - we never had a single issue with staff. They are super nice and helpful. The only thing to be aware of is some of them are a bit aggressive trying to sell you an upgrade. It starts off with an invite for free vouchers at the spa and breakfast to find out more about there VIP program. We said no to all of it but from what we heard, it ends up being a presentation for time shares. Accept the offer at your own risk. We also declined to deal with staff for excursions. We booked everything through our travel company which was west jet vacations. They had a rep on the resort all day to help and answer all our questions. The only negative for service was at checkout. We called in advance to have a cart come pick us up at our building so we didn't have to walk with our luggage. We waited for almost 40 min and no cart came so we decided just to walk instead. Excursions to Consider when visiting Riviera Maya: Island of Cozumel, Ruins in Coba, Ruins in Tulum - The island of Cozumel has a secret beach you'll want to visit 10 times over. Overall we had a great time and experience. Would I go back to this resort? probably not but we're also the type of people who like to try new resorts. None of them are ever perfect anyways. We'll definitely visit Mexico again though.

GREAT TIMES, GREAT PEOPLE

This hotel was great it did have its positive’s and negative’s, bed could have been more comfortable..... Great place to spend an anniversary ❤️❤️ Last night they gave us a complimentary night at their BLUE DIAMOND BOUTIQUE HOTEL ❤️❤️Wow was resort. Would totally recommend and would go again

Good resort!

First off, we had a great stay and enjoyed our time at thoroughly. The rooms and resort were very clean and the staff were amazing. The food was good but they didn't serve enough mexican inspired dishes witch was a let down for us. We only went to a couple of the restaurants (steak house, seafood and French) and we didn't enjoy them that much. The resort felt a little dated and the pools weren't that deep as deep as we liked (only 4 feet). The beach was and enjoyable but the best part was th [... read more]e lagoon located a 10 min walk away from the resort. We ended up spending most of our time there. Overall the resort was good for the price. We don't know if we'd go again but we would recommend it.

Great Resort and Vacation

The rooms were really nice and clean and the beds were comfy. The food was really good. The resort itself is massive and kudos to the shuttle drivers who do their best to get guests to a from where they need to be. Service is really good at the buffets. A la carte restaurants were good with special mention for the French restaurant which was excellent.
