Beautiful Resort - not good service

Beautiful massive resort. Had a very relaxing time. I would not go back only because I have been spoiled by other resorts that offer top notch service. Here the waitstaff and bartenders don't smile, at meals you have to wait for drinks to be refilled and plates to be taken away. No Kleenex in room and stained bed sheets.

I loved it so much

I loved every part of this resort to the food ,people. grounds, rooms, lobby,pools beach and ect..... I would love to go back , we were a group of 8 ppl ,we just would like to see Free Wi-Fi in the lobby and more t.v s in the gym

BEST TRIP EVER

We had a perfect time, weather, food, platinum suite, everything was absolutely wonderful. We would definately recommend GSP to everyone!! The resort was so clean and beautiful, the staff were very friendly!!

Wonderful resort

The hotel is huge but that is a great plus too You never felt that it was crowded .The walkways are lovely with great Mayan statues.It is clean as a whistle.The beach was lovely. Did have some weeds snd stones.Rooms are nice but could use some updating.We stayed in platinum.Needs hooks etc in bathroom to be able to hang up your clothes while showering.Our snackbar/grill at the Riviera was great.Fausto was our favorite waiter.Very attentive and lovely man.Food was good.Was not impressed by the si [... read more]ze and lack of ambiance of the a la carte's.The tsunami was our favorite.Great show good food.Worst was the Mexican with strange menu.We where hoping for some great mexican food.Shows where really nice .We loved the fire show and the Mexican and Grease.

Huge but beautiful!

Disregard the negative reviews; as you can see on TA, they are few and isolated cases--they do not represent the majority. Ditto to all the positive reviews. Only a couple of recommendations to management -- should have more shuttles throughout the resort -- lots of walking which may be difficult for some. The resort recommends casual dress for the a la cartes however we say many wearing raggedy shorts and t-shirts and were allowed in ... ?? which is it; one or the other or both .. Very nice but can be improved

Overall the resort was good, the rooms, and pools were excellent. We upgraded to Platinum and the extra perks were nice, especially at the beach where we were always able to find lounge chairs in a good location. The food was hit and miss, some days excellent, other times lacking quality. Even the al-a-cartes were hit and miss. The resort was huge, but it wasn't a big issue for us. It was nice to have a walk in the evening after dinner. The shuttle was constantly running but they needed to add a [... read more]nother shuttle when raining or during meals hours when more people wanted to ride. The biggest plus was the staff working at the resort, everybody that we met were extremely helpful and friendly.

Not great!

Although the hotel itself was clean, the front desk staff were indifferent upon checkin and did not tell us anything about the resort other than where we COULD NOT eat! The service staff were great! Friendly and efficient. The resort is huge and hard to get around, especially if you are handicapped! Absolutely no benches to rest on when walking! The resort was overflowing with drunken young people who swore and screamed constantly! Great for a family resort! They serve INSTANT COFFEE throughout  [... read more]the resort! Horrible house red wine! The buffets had a good variety of food but it was always cold! Al la carte restaurants were not good! Felt rushed every time! They wanted us to order immediately and we were done is less than 40 minutes! Hardly a relaxing dinner! Concierge staff were rude! Everything was an upgrade so take extra cash! Always confronted by hotel staff trying to sell time shares! The beach was nice but that was about it!

Not a five star

The resort grounds are gorgeous and pools plenty. BUT the rooms are very musty and moldy smelling. The food is very bland. No place to sit outdoors at restaurants or buffets. Constant sewer smell at beach and internet very costly and only available in 2 designated spots. Entertainment very poor. Would not recommend this place.

Truly a wonderful experience.....

This vacation met all of our expectations. A true value for the money. Amazing resort with the staff so very friendly. Very large resort with lots of options to change up the pace of your stay. The meals were very good with lots of healthy options.

Great for weddings!

Everything was wonderful ! Great people , amazing service! No real complaints . Only recommendation would be to make sure you wear something on your feet while walking the grounds , floors can be slippery when it rains .

Grand sunset princess

Great experience, the staff are amazing and very friendly. The resort was absolutely beautiful, the pool and beach are beautiful. The only complaint I have would be the floors can be very slippery especially with bare feet. They do have signs everywhere to wear sandles which is very necessary. I recommend not wear heels at any time. We had our wedding there and it was a perfect day and they were very accommodating. I will definitely recommend this resort to family and friends

Amazing resort

Service was undeniably a+. Everyone was incredibly helpful and extremely kind. The Sunwing reps were there when ever you needed and able to direct us to exactly the type of adventures we wanted to experience. As well as just helping to get the right driver for a day trip. The resort was absolutely gorgeous. There is some construction next door to the resort but they will accommodate a move to a room away from the noise if you request it, no questions asked.

Great Family Spot

The Princess Club is an overall great family option. The kids club is excellent and the staff very friendly and spoke English. The evening activities are a little late if your children are on the young side, so we didn't take advantage of that aspect. The pools and grounds were clean and the bugs were few. No issues with food. Bar service was not the greatest, service slow and not all the bars were open. Well organized beautiful well kept grounds

- very well organized from airport to hotel in newer buses. - our check in greeting started with a bottle of champagne with the manager! - rooms were very comfortable and anything you asked for they responded (extra pillows / kleenex, etc) - spider monkeys, resident cats and song birds a bonus! - food was great at the buffets, but making reservations for each "a la cart restaurant" was time consuming having to line up to see your specific agent. - large resort with lots happening. Check out the  [... read more]"Chill Out" Restaurant on the beach early in your stay. Its a pay for dinner (not incl) menu but gives you access for the rest of your stay at the private beach area. Nicer chairs, drinks in glass not plastic, and service at your chair! be sure to tip at day end!!! - Men... remember to bring long pants for dining in the theme restaurants! or you will be buying over priced anticipated purchased pants for $75 USD, from the on resort stores. - we had no water or food issues, and the breakfast buffets offered everything! All the buffet staff were attentive. - the beach had bbq lunches ongoing daily. - they could use a few fresh water showers near the lounge area to wash off salt water. These were available but on the way back from the beach. There was 1 in the Chill Out area, another reason to hang there! - bring your walking shoes- this place is large and the shuttles could run more often!

Fabulous resort!

The resort was everything we could have asked for! A beautiful resort that is very well kept. A clean and comfortable room. In fact the rooms are quite fancy! The food options are endless! The service is wonderful and kind, they all try really hard to please you. I can't wait to go back next year :)

A perfect place for cat lovers!

Even though this resort has many good points, I'm going to start with the one thing that I found absolutely unacceptable. There were a lot of cats on the grounds of the hotel. Since I absolutely adore them, it was hard to see that many of them had injuries and there was one black kitten on the Sunset side that had such severe eye infection that she was almost blind! Many people (including myself) complained about the need of vet assistance to the hotel management, but the front desk supervisors  [... read more]said there is nothing they can do, which is a SHAME AND COMPLETE NONSENSE!!! How much would it cost in Mexico to hire a vet to come to the resort once a month and provide help to the poor defenceless animals? They advertise themselves as a 5-star resort and they claim they cannot spare pennies to help these deserving animals?! Really? Other resorts in Mexico and even in Egypt have been doing this for ages, but somehow Grand Sunset/Riviera Princess in Riviera Maya claim there is nothing they can do? Here is an idea: how about starting a fund at the front desk to collect money for the vet help - I'm certain many tourists would like to donate. On the positive side, the beach does not feel crowded, unlike in other bigger resorts. There are always a lot of sun loungers available for use any time of the day. The buffet food was good quality and tasty. Even though we stayed there for 2 weeks, I can't say we got tired of it. Among the a la carte restaurants, La Hacienda was our favourite - the seafood dinner was absolutely delicious! The cooking show at Miso was also great fun and a memorable experience. Finally, this resort has separate smoking and non-smoking buildings, which is great, you just need to make sure you are getting what you requested right at the check-in.

Just what we needed!

A gorgeous resort that gave us everything we needed! Stunning grounds with so many options to sit and relax, gorgeous beach as well as several pools to choose how loud or quiet you would like it! Food was great with tons of healthy options - a little less salt in it would have made it perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful and aimed to make your stay enjoyable and stress free. Guaranteed to be lovely

This is the second time I've been to this resort. The staff is always very friendly, the grounds are amazingly well kept. The food is very good. The big buffets have a great selection for even the pickiest of eaters. I love that the resort has so many pools to choose from. There was always a possibility of getting a spot by the pool, or the beach for that matter, and I'm pretty sure the resort was full the week I went. Plus they have a hand tram that you can take if need be.

Amazing resort

We will go back to this resort and strongly recommended this resort to anybody. Everything was perfect except for the beach, (lost of weeds, the bottom was very rough) and the shuttle was never or time.

Will never return. never.

Poor checkin. Watered Down alcohol. Transformation carts always full and not showing up. And thats a lott off walking. Got 4 blisters on my feet. Not just me. The other ocupent were frustrated. Never again.
