Nice newer resort with great beach. All the restaurants were amazing, people were super friendly, they keep the resort spotless. It never seemed busy for the restaurants even though the resort was full.
Would recommend this resort to anyone.

Hotel Dos Playas Faranda: DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL
The hotel is a dump. Unsafe in my honest opinion. Pools are gross. Clientele in the only restaurant is buffet and we saw a person use their hands to pull out food, luck her fingers, then grab some more. Everything was gross, really gross.
I tried to get tripcentral to change the hotel prior to leaving after we saw a YouTube video. Tripcentral employee said cannot change hotel, so we chanced it.
Upon arrival, we immediately wanted to leave. The air canada guide on site said he would try t[... read more]o make a change for us. He came back with price quotes more than DOUBLE what we paid for the original trip to only change hotels. Total cost if we moved would have been over $6,000 for 2 peeps. That’s a gouge! So we stayed.
Air Canada vacations ruined our vacation. Will NOT use them in the future ever.

Sandos Cancun: Beautiful Beach, But the Resort Falls Short
I recently stayed at Sandos Cancun and unfortunately my experience did not match what I would expect from a resort marketed as 5-stars.
Pros:
The resort has a fantastic location with very close beach access and a truly beautiful stretch of sand. I appreciated the compact layout—everything is nearby and easy to get to. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and helpful. My room, although clearly in need of an update (old furniture and aging fixtures), was spacious and had a lovely view, [... read more]which I enjoyed.
Cons:
The food was the biggest disappointment. The buffet didn’t offer any hot stations like fresh omelets, pasta, or a grill—something I consider standard at a 5-star resort. The à la carte restaurants were extremely difficult to book because the app wasn’t functioning properly, and when I was finally able to get a reservation, the food was again mediocre at best.
Another major issue was the noise from the mechanical rooms of the neighboring Secrets resort. It was loud at night and made it difficult for me to sleep.
The resort also struggles with providing enough lounge chairs. There were not enough chairs by the pool or on the beach for the number of guests, and there were no umbrellas on the beach—only around 12–14 cabanas reserved for non-Elite members. For a supposed luxury resort, this felt unacceptable. It gave the impression that non-Elite guests were not prioritized.
Overall, my experience was underwhelming for a resort claiming 5-star standards. While the staff and beach were wonderful, the food quality, noise issues, and lack of basic amenities like seating and shade significantly affected my stay. I don’t plan to return, and I feel the resort focuses more on Elite members than regular guests.

The Pyramid Cancun: Amazing resort!
The Pyramid Grand Oasis in the Sian Kaan rooms is a spectacular experience. Excellent food, excellent entertainment, excellent room, excellent service, excellent beach. I would highly recommend the Sian Kaan experience. The Oasis itself offers everything the Pyramid offers except for the bulter service and the specialty restraunts. Of all my 15 trips to Cancun The Pyramid Sian Kann experience was the best time ever!

The resort was truly stunning, with beautiful grounds and an incredible view from all angles. The staff were very helpful, professional, and polite, making our stay even more enjoyable. Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Best resort ever!!
Our first time visiting Majestic Elegance and we definitely recommend this resort and would love to return!
Our airport arrival was met with nice staff that kindly directed us to where we could meet our bus to our hotel.
Our check in was seamless. The arrival
Staff had a nice fresh face towel and beverage waiting for us upon arrival. Check in was quick and our awesome butler, Yuri gave us a thorough resort tour, room explanation and how to use the app so we could reserve our dinner bookings [... read more]at the fantastic French and Japanese restaurants. The app is also super handy to know which restaurants are open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Since we were club members we also had another butler named Alber that helped us with providing daily messages of the activities and resort awareness on WhatsApp. He also let us know when our room was cleaned and restocked daily. Our room housekeeper Nadia was super and our room was cleaned and refreshed twice a day, morning and night service. The refreshment specialist also refilled our minibar daily with our favourite things and plenty of bottled water.
All of the restaurant staff were excellent. The ensured we had everything we wanted at every visit and our drinks were always refilled without us having to wait or ask. The attention and enthusiasm by the staff was outstanding. Couple of our favourite to mention are Guadeloupe and Rosemari. They provided us excellent service at the Italian à la carte restaurant.
Our other favourite was Rolando at the pool bar near the towel centre. His bar tender services were the absolute best!! He was super friendly, attentive and always in a great mood. He kept us well hydrated and made our time at the resort so much fun. He also had many creative cocktails for us to try. Our favourite was Rolando’s special and the Majestic!
The beach was very nice, the time of year we went (week of hurricane Melissa) created stronger waves than we preferred but the resort did a good job cleaning any debris and seaweed that was on the beach by daily cleaning. There were plenty of beach beds.
The pool’s atmosphere was also nice. Different vibes at each pool which was good if you wanted a different experience throughout the visit. Our only complaint would be that there could be more overall property maintenance (chilled paint, tiles, etc) and the pools should be more thoroughly cleaned daily. Other than that our over all experience was 10/10. Highly recommend this resort for its staff, amazing food and drinks and the nightly entertainment was also great. Our favourite was the Mexican themed night with various authentic food around the central square with live entertainment and the Queen cover band. We also got to enjoy the World Series blue jay games at the legends sports bar. And the late night snacks at McJestic (McDonalds inspired) were perfect. The multiple weddings held daily on the resort were just breathtaking and very well executed by the resort staff. Overall, we will definitely return to visit this beautiful resort. Thanks Majestic Elegance for a wonderful experience!!

Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe: Second visit this year...
It's with mixed feelings writing this review. Because I have a feeling the services are going down instead of up. Restocking the minibar and coffee pods were kind of not happening. It's not a big deal, but if I pay for something, I want to have it. Service on the beach was also hit or miss.
Everything else was as it should be-for a solid 4 star hotel. For last visit in March this year I think the hotel was close to 5 star.
With 25% off, it's worth the money, full price I'll think twice. Was pl[... read more]anning a third visit next spring, but not sure it will be happening.
Also, I forgot to mention upgrading to Enclave is a good idea.

Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun by Royalton: NOT as advertised. This is not an Adults only resort
The first concern is we paid for checked luggage to Cancun and again paid for the same checked bags back to Toronto which we were surprised to be required to pay because we already paid it once. However, the baggage fee back to Toronto was in USD and there were taxes on each bag. Luggage to Cancun from Toronto was in CAD and taxes included.
Our most significant and important concern is of the false advertising of this resort on your website. It is most definitely NOT adults only and we paid [... read more]more for ONE adults only pool; (basically) ONE bar; and ONE adults only restaurant and another with a dress code that did not allow bathing suits/cover ups during lunch service. We were left with little choice but to visit the buffet for lunch where some families were seated in the “adults only” section anyway. All the à la carte restaurants that required reservations were open to families. It was very frustrating to enjoy quiet time and peace and quiet our whole vacation. And we paid extra to have an “adults only” experience. When in fact, we did get much less services and experiences as compared to the families, yet we paid $200-300 more per person. The families had much more freedom and variety to the resort.
There were even instances of families (evident by their purple bracelets) using the adults only pool and taking pool chairs away from those of us who paid extra for this one and only enjoyable amenity. It was always extremely hard to get pool chairs (because there were already too few), and we had to find a spot there every afternoon. Our swim-up room was in shade from 12:30 pm and on (also a big disappointment for us when we were promised significant sun at that room by the front desk when we checked in AND paid MORE for this upgrade.) Perhaps if we weren’t sent to the wrong lobby when we arrived, the employee at Adult Scene check-in could have been clearer on our requirements for the room/sun and we would have received our welcome drink; (we did not receive our welcome drink, by the way.)
I would also like to make known of the issue we had upon departure from Cancun which occurred on the airplane. We taxied to the runway and when about to take off we were informed of an issue at the front of the plane. We found out later that there was a very intoxicated woman with her family and children and she had vomited everywhere. We returned back to our gate and she refused to get off the plane and after an hour and-a-half the flight crew, Border patrol and Mexican Federales eventually removed her from the plane. I do not know what can be done about this inconvenience, but I do hope that there is some form of monetary fine for this family. They were quite an unruly family and in fact, I heard many complaints from other passengers about them regarding interactions and behaviour of the children witnessed at the airport. I did witness the intoxicated woman hurriedly purchasing a beer while I was waiting in line to board (and we were very near the end of the line to board.)
In any regards, we are happy to be home and the only good thing about our experience was the weather.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Great resort
The resort was amazing, and the service was great. The only thing we would ask or change is more direct entertainment for the children. I have been at resorts where there is a children's show prior to the nightly adult show. I may have missed the info but that was our challenge, was finding nightly entertainment for them. Hopefully, we missed it but other than that it was an amazing time.

Planet Hollywood Adult Scene Cancun by Royalton: Just ok, average
I watched and read many reviews ahead of going on this trip, but I always take them with a grain of salt. I have spent time at 5 star resorts and 3 star resorts, and some of the complaints can be off from my experience.
1. Check in process- we arrived at around 11 and check in was 3 pm. It was a long day and had I realized I may have opted for a later flight. We got bracelets and could enjoy the resort while we waited for the room to be ready. It was our first time there and there wasn't anyo[... read more]ne to show us a basic tour around, so we wandered until one of the concierge helped us about. Went back at 3 to find that the room was still not ready. It was closer to 4 before we got to the room.
2. Room - The room was clean and spacious. I didn't find it any more humid or musty in comparison to any other resorts 0that I have been to in the Caribbean at this time of year. (I always travel the first week of October) We didn't bother with a dehumidifier. We were in building 16 on the 4th floor. For a resort that is a 5 star rating, I was surprised that the closet and cupboards were looking shambles, doors were not closing properly etc. One big note is the shower had no hot water in the afternoons, with the exception of one day. Although, one sink would only put out boiling water at all times of day (so it wasn't an issue of no hot water at all, just none in the shower).
The mirror lights were cool, but one didn't work. Loved that there were 2 sink stations!
3. Room service- what service?? We ordered room service the second day as it was rainy and didn't feel like leaving the room. I have never used room service before so was excited to try it. I was around 1:30 pm and after we ordered it said it would be about 1 hour, which I kind of expected as it was rainy and many may have had the same thought! After a few mins, the app said it would be an additional 40 minutes. After 2 hours and nothing showing up, I messaged the room service to see what was happening and heard nothing back. 3 hours later, we canceled it as our reservation for dinner was almost ready. Disappointing for a 5 star place.
4. The food/drinks - buffet was just ok. The need a better system for keeping food hot, as most things that were pre-made were barely warm. The fish station for fresh fish, calamari, prawns and scallops was delicious, but was always a long wait (very popular), same for the stir fry station. The other foods offered were ok, nothing to write home about, and fairly flavorless. I was surprised at the size of the buffet considering the size of the resort, seemed small to me.
We ate at The Catch (seafood), Brazil (Brazilian), Satra (Indian), Gusta (Italian) and the Steakhouse. The Indian had the best flavor, fairly spicy if you have a delicate palate. The Brazilian was my favorite overall. Again with the temperature of the food, most was just barely warm. Guy's Burger joint was good, burgers were enjoyable, fries were cold unless the were right out if the fryer. Gusta had a pizza window and that fresh pizza was amazing!
I found the service quality a hit and miss at all restaurants. Food and service left me feeling disappointed overall. No, I didn't starve by any means, it just was lacking for a 5 star resort. I didn't experience any unusual gastric issues while there (I have some IBS issues on the regular back home, so anything I experienced here was my normal).
The drinks were fine, not a huge drinker anyway, but I didn't find them watered down much in my opinion.
5. Chair game- we didn't have a single issue with this the whole week. There were chairs with umbrellas at the pool and beach all week, some days we were down there around 9 and a few closer to noon. They may not have been right at the front of things, but I was not rising at 6 am for anything this week to get front row.
6. Pools/lazy river- The pools were clean and I didn't find it too crowded, although we are more beach people. The Lazy river was a fun addition to the day. Sometimes it was busier than others, but there seemed to be floats available (we brought our own though).
7. The beach- this is one of my big things when traveling. I want a beautiful beach! The beach itself is absolutely beautiful.
Which was quickly disappointing after being in the water and seeing actual chunks of POOP ? floating all around us. Let me preemptively state that I know this is NOT the hotels fault. This happened all but the last 2 days we spent at the beach. There were several stories as to what kind of poo it was (turtles, manatees, human waste from tour boats dumping at sea), but the fact that I had to dodge literal chunks of feces at all was absolutely disgusting. Many of the return guests and have had this same experience along this stretch of beach. I have never had this experience anywhere else in Mexico or other Caribbean destinations.
This alone is a reason that I would never be back to that particular area of Mexico. It is a shame as that particular beach itself is stunning. It makes me wonder if the reports of people being sick at the resort and for weeks after leaving are related ?
I can say I would not be back to this resort. Nothing of the above ruined my whole vacation, by any means, but the hotel overall was lacking any sort of "it factor" for me, and the logs of poo in the ocean was the thing that cinched that decision.

Riu Palace Kukulkan: Exceptional Stay
The Hotel and room are modern and kept very clean. the staff were amazing and helpful. I had forgotten an expensive pair of sunglasses in the buffet and Ariel (the server) chased me dow on the resort to return them. The food and resturants were exceptional. Durning our stay we watched staff work around the clock to build a new Steak house; which was completed in five days - wow, Mexican work ethic. Great hotel made great by attentive friendly staff , oct 4 to 11, many million dollar smiles if you’re kind , lots of food choices from buffet to restaurants requiring reservations. Riu Latino: Very good resort
Likes:
Resort was clean, grounds well taken of, staff excellent, room was excellent and beach was fantastic.
Plenty of entertainment day and evening.
An abundance of party atmosphere: jungle party, pink party, silent party, foam pool party and of course white evening party.
Changes I would like to see:
Would like to see a bar closer to, or on the beach.
Would also like to see the lobby bar and sports bar have small designated lane where guests can order their own drinks and step away. The[... read more] present system with guests sitting on bar stools all around especially at peak times makes it inconvenient and unsafe because one would have to find 'an opening' and get the bartender attention. In light of COVID, measles and flu, unnecessary close contact should be avoidable.
There is a residential black cat near the Moctezuma restaurant. I have witnessed cat lovers petting and holding this cat. Nothing wrong with that. However, plenty is wrong when these same guests go into the buffet restaurant and hold shared utensils without washing their hands.
Time taken to travel between the airport and resort, going and coming is well over an hour. I was told about 40 minutes.
