Las Brisas Huatulco: Great vacation

Las Brisas is a wonderful resort. The rooms are a nice size, they're clean and the beds are comfortable. You can snorkel directly on the resort. Overall it was a great experience. I would recommend visiting this area.

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Enjoyed every minute!

Very clean hotel, super friendly and personable staff. Great service, Great food with nice variety and quality. Beach Club a short distance away but shuttle every half hour so never a long wait. Market just across the street and beach a short walk across the street. Some rooms have large walkout deck.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Great week

My wife and I just returned from Las Brisas and had a great time!! Weather was great, food was good, room was spacious and clean and the bed was one of the best I have slept on. The staff were friendly and worked hard. The 3 beaches were great and the beach waiters did a great job keeping our glasses full!! Great idea as well to provide water bottles on the beach. Would go back again.

Holiday Inn Huatulco: A great location in Santa Cruz

The Holiday Inn has the potential to be a great hotel. They are centrally located and within walking distance of the Santa Cruz beach and the walkway to La Crucecita. They did an amazing job of this walkway and it is a lovely attraction with a view of the ocean at the beginning and a view of the Sierre Madres as a backdrop. Breathtaking! There was  [... read more]never a lack of servers but their appeared to be no direction provided to them. No server had a set number of tables and resulted in numerous servers waiting on you resulting in a chaotic serving pattern. Appetizers and main courses at the same time or appetizers after main course. However, the quality of the food served was always fresh and pleasant to the eye. Their wait staff made a concerted effort to be helpful and were warm and friendly. Suggestion: the arrangement of the breakfast buffet and the lineup at the omelette centre was convoluted. The buffet lineup should be reversed and the location of a single table directly in front of the omelette area should be removed. Special kudos to the following: Andres (young server), Andres (older server),Gabriel, Onofre, Rudolfo, Carlos, Israel, Edmond (chef), and special mention to the young lady (Adalid) who was exceptional. Also, the young man, Saul, who attended bar was good but very shy and seldom made eye contact; could attribute this to his young age. The potential to be good. The front desk was okay but not overly helpful. Maricruz was probably the strongest of the front desk staff. There was a lack of beverage mixes at the bar (tonic) for days and light beer on several occasions. It just didn't seem to be a priority. The rooms were spotless and the cleaning staff did a great job. Best beds and linens. Loved the darkening drapes. More effort to cleaning in the lobby and aisleways could be improved. However, the area adjacent to the bar was always meticulously maintained and they attended to the grass and plants daily. Biggest issue was the cleanliness of the pool and daily pool maintenance. The area was never cleaned the entire time there with one exception when they stained the far end of the pool deck. They have a big issue with bird and droppings on the deck, deck chairs, pool loungers and in the water. They did have a hawk whisperer, Abraham, come in two days a week for about one hour to scare the birds away, but as soon as he left the birds were back. I never saw anyone physically vacuum the pool, clean the pool deck, etc., and we were on the deck before 7 a.m. every day. Refrigerators in every room would be a plus. Some guests did have them them but it was a haggle to obtain. All in all, we would stay there again and feel some constructive input would assist them in making the Holiday Inn a definite gem. Las Brisas Huatulco: Huatulco: Natural setting, beautiful views.

Las Brisas Huatulco was an amazing site. Natural setting, lots of birds (excellent bird watching guided tour included), good nutritious food (boring menu if you have a long stay as it repeats the food choices), amazing staff (all the way from arrival to food management, groundskeeping, and housekeeping). Beautifully maintained gardens, smooth tenis court, great soccer field, super clean pools, 3 crystal clear beaches (all swimmable and accessible). Quick transportation if not inclined to walk th [... read more]e many stairs and paths available (pick up spots all have phones to call for quick pick up). Lots of hiking available to site seeing (phenomenal ocean views wherever you turn). I found the children's program (Angelitos) not being used because there is no transportation to the site from the Lobby or elsewhere in the property and it is far from the hotel rooms or the beaches. They had 3 staff and no kids the 3 times that I went to try to use it for my child (did not use it in the end). Beaches were beyond beautiful, super clean and tons of fish, urchins, and crabs to spot and watch. Away from the crowds. It is not a party hotel for young people (no disco), which was perfect for family and older adults. There is daily entertainment by an amazing team of staff (with pretty good dance training as well). Adults and kids in my family enjoyed every show. On the weekend, they bring vendors to sell crafts. Rooms: stayed at a basic room (no balcony or living room) but amazing ocean view from the windows. Loved the shower heads and the comfortable double beds. There was even a cloths line in the bathroom to hang bathing suits. Cannot say enough about the beauty and quietness of the place. if you want noise and party too, you can seek it out by the pool side and snack bar or the evening entertainment, but if you want to sleep in a hammock and enjoy your drinks, that too is available. Dislikes: having to pay for snorkeling mask (other resorts include it in the package) for 5 people adds up.

Barcelo Huatulco: Barcel Huatulco

Staff was very good. The food and restaurants require more effort, and also the special restaurants aren't open every day. The location is great, rooms were fine. Did not use pools beach was very nice. Few more showers from beach would helpful. May want to add a few more beach chairs and huts. Enjoyed the people and found it to be very safe. Thanks for a relaxing vacation.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Great location

This resort is very clean, we’ll landscaped and nicely looked after. Food was good with 5 al a carte restaurants besides the big buffet. We never waited in line for food or seating. Ocean Water was warm a realitively calm.

Camino Real Zaashila: Decent quiet place

We liked some and noticed room for improvement. Staff: Most of the staff are very nice and welcoming. People work at the hotel for many years, a sign that are happy with the job. We had one reception staff not really paying attention to our inquiries like we could be ignored without consequences. On second attempts with other staff present our request was honoured. I think that the hotel policy is to accomodate any requets and seems to be followed. Restaurant and beach waiters are [... read more] very nice helpful and personable. There seem to be only one shift for staff, as a result they will be tired or very tired by the end of the day. Rooms: The rooms need upgrading. The A/C in some rooms is only on or off, the temperature control is not working. There is a prevalent problem with the bathroom floor drains, they all smell when there is no flow (e.g. in the morning) like there are no smell traps installed, and probably are not. The hotel is working on upgrading the wifi network. April is the tentative month to finish the upgrade. Cleanliness: Also needs more attention. The sheets and towels are changed diligently and clean. The eating areas are not closely monitored for cleanliness. Probably more staff is needed for this to happen. I've got a bowel infection that is hard to trace back to its origin. I suspect a spinach salad. Food and drinks: The food is generally well prepared. The choices are limited but satisfactory. Food waste is not an issue at this hotel, a good thing in my opinion. Attention to cleanliness is due. Beware of possible contamination. They usually have only one restaurant open for a meal. Buffet in the morning and occasionally for Lunch, Azul Profondo for Lunch ad Dinner, Chez Bini for Dinner three time a week. There is a second bar that opens at 5PM for evening drinks. The drinks are decent, wines are good and the cocktails are not short on alochol, quite the oposite actually. Beers are from the can and bottles Coronas at the restaurant, no draft beer. Bottled water is available in the rooms, at the beach bar and the restaurants. The pool: The pool is long and of safe depth (4ft). It's not very busy. No pool bar, which is awesome in my opinion. You won't have the manatees huddled around the bar all day long. Clean enough. They scrub it every morning. Does not seem to have a permanent filtering system, they seem to use portable vacuums to clean it. Therefore at night and early in the morning it may not be very clean. There is a jaccuzi, not much used. Also they have a kids pool with puddle depth water. The beach: The beach is clean quiet and well shaded with palapas. We liked the quiet although the odd music enthusiast would feel the need to share their music with others, at low volume generally. There is a policy to not have amplified music on the beach, headphones only, but it's not enforced. Beach towels are plenty available. The ocean is generally good for swimming and snorkelling. Quite a bit of marine life to see while snorkelling. There is a swim perimeter but no life guard on duty. The water sports staff could play life guard if needed. One should be comfortable with water to get into the ocean. There a steep drop, more noticeable at low tide. On occasion the waves could get high, but once passed the break it's fine to swim or just float. The weather is always good in Huatulco. According to the locals, it rains about five times a year. The Oaxacans are very friendly and welcoming people. A trip or two in town for dinner or shopping is reccommended. Coming in, beware of the Taxi sharks at the airport. No car trip in the area should exceed 200 pesos (~ 10 USD), these people would try to charge 30, 40 USD.

Secrets Huatulco: Great resort!!

Great resort, Beach was great, pools were large and nice. The resort was very clean. Rooms were comfortable with a great view of the ocean and whales passing through. The service staff were outstanding, friendly smiling attentive and efficient. Restaurants were all very good. Steaks aren’t like home, very thin. The Mexican restaurant...not so great. Overall, though it was wonderful 2 weeks, will be returning.

Camino Real Zaashila: Wonderful Hualtuco

Smaller resort with best views and a well set up layout Balcony to pool to the ocean all close, great if you don't like a lot of walking Best lunch with a great view Service excellent. Rooms are a good size but starting to get a bit dated

Las Brisas Huatulco: Very Unique Resort

The hotel was great. Not fancy but the setting was unlike any resort we had been at in the past. Very unique as it has little villas set in the hill sides with all Canadian people as guests!!. Staff were great and very friendly.

Barcelo Huatulco: Good resort

Everything was good but did not like the slope on the beach, very hard to walk on and that is what I go for, very uneven ground in the ocean as well, felt unsafe.Long line ups at ala cartel and you could only book for the same day.

Las Brisas Huatulco: 3rd time an absolute charm!

On my 3rd time to the Huatulco/Oaxaca area, Feb 26 to Mar 5 2019, I continued to be amazed by the culture, beauty, people, safety, cleanliness and of course the absolutely consistent weather of the region! My first exposure to the region was a solo whitewater kayaking trip on the Copalita river 10 years ago. The second was at a resort on one of the Huatulco Bays in 2018. Everything was exceptionally coordinated and delivered to me and my companion to meet all of my expectations. The variety of activity items at the resort and food was incomparable! I unfortunately became seriously ill one day (from eating food off site (my fault)), BUT on my return to the hotel, the staff bent over backwards to assist me, including a check-up by the on-site medic and hotel staff.I was so grateful for their care and attention.! In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, " I be back" !!!

Las Brisas Huatulco: Great resort

Everything about this resort was great. Loved the beaches, snorkelling, and food was amazing. Staff very friendly and accommodating! Was nervous about going to Mexico due to safety, and in this area felt completely safe.

Secrets Huatulco: Beyond our expectations

This was my third time to this resort with my wife and we had another fabulous time. This was our first time in a king swim out room and I don't think we could stay anywhere else now lol. This hotel still has the best service compared to anywhere else we have been to. If you are a pool person and love hot weather you can't go wrong here. The sand on the beach is hot so you need water shoes but we didn't go to the beach once this trip because we are pool people. The food was good and you could always find something to eat and cans of bud light topped it off. We are going to go back next year for two weeks.

Las Brisas Huatulco: I had an amazing week at Las Brisas

I had a wonderful week at Las Brisas. It was everything that I hoped for and much more. Room - I upgraded to a Club Suite and stayed in the Caribe building in the Mar section. I arrived late at night and woke early the next morning and caught the last of the sunrise. I was blown away by the view from my room, just spectacular looking out over the bay and I had a huge terrace. The room was very spacious and I had everything that I could need, the mini fridge was well stocked with Corona, water [... read more], juice, pop, hips and chocolate treats and they were replenished daily. I also really enjoyed the coffee maker and the expresso pods that were provided. Sheets and linens were lovely. Resort - Spread over a huge area, was thankful for the golf carts as I had a knee replacement 3 months earlier. There are also larger shuttles to transport people throughout the resort. The scenery and the nature were spectacular, beautiful trees, cacti, plants, bougainvillea and other flowering shrubs were everywhere, a feast for the eyes. Due to the hilly nature of the landscape, you really get some spectacular views over the bay. The resort and the buildings are beautifully maintained and are Mexican in design. Beautiful pools and gardens. Beach - Three beaches, I personally enjoyed the middle beach. Lovely beach and the water was crystal clear, fantastic swimming. The only issue I had was it was a challenge getting in and out to to some drop offs and your feet really sunk into the sand. Once I was in, pure heaven. Drink service at the beach was excellent or you could just go yourself to the Tiki bars at either end of the beach. Main Buffet - I found the food to be really good at the main buffet, good variety and often a good temperature. I loved that you could get fish freshly grilled ( they also have other meats and hamburgers). I really enjoyed the Mexican dishes that were offered, especially the chicken in a tomato mole sauce......delicious and beef in an enchilada sauce. I also had some delicious tacos and guacamole and tomatilo salsa etc. They also had many delicious non Mexican offerings, a great selection of fruits, vegetables and desserts. A La Carte Restarants - I tried four of the a la carte restaurants. El Pescador (seafood), the La Kasbah (morrocan), El Mexicano and Mediterraneo (Mediterranean). My favourite was El Pescador and La Kasbah was a close second. I went to El Pescador 3 times during my week as I had unlimited a la cartes with the Beach club. A lot of people find the Kasbah uncomfortable because the decor is authentic and the seats and tables are low. I encourage you to give it a chance because my main course was the most delicious lamb that i have had in a long time. The decor is beautiful and you are entertained by a young beautiful belly dancer. Unfortunately I was not feeling well the night that I went to the Mexican restaurant and ended up leaving after my appetiser. I did not like the Mediterranean restaurant, my appetiser was cold and not flavourful, I left before my main due to poor service. Misc. - The music was nice in the bar area in the evening. I ate late so I did not go to any of the shows. The drinks were good and there was a lot of variety. My bartender at the beach made me a terrific Mojito! Staff - Wonderful, friendly people, overall great service. The scenery is spectacular in this area and I will definitely be returning to Las Brisas!

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Hotel Castillo

The hotel was located right in the little town of Huatulco with a regular shuttle to their Beach Club. I enjoyed being in town and meeting the locals as well as vacationing Mexicans who patronize the hotel. Lots of fellow Canadians too which was nice. The hotel and rooms were clean and the staff were all polite, friendly and helpful. The food was mostly Mexican and quite good most of the time, with a few mediocre offerings. My only criticism was the lack of breakfast cereal choices and poor qual [... read more]ity of sliced bread (much like Wonder bread whether white or "brown"). Also no plain yogurt available - choices were fruit varieties and way too sweet for my taste. Beds a little hard but that is often the case in hotels. You need to ask for an extra blanket or turn the AC off or down as the bed coverings were pretty thin. A reasonable value but I've had better, so about a 7 out of 10 overall.

Camino Real Zaashila: Wonderful holiday!!

We had not taken a vacation for a few years because of work. Several of our friends had told us of this fabulous resort so we decided to give it a try. What an incredible surprise we were in for. This resort beats anywhere else we had been before. The resort itself is lovely, the food great, the beach truly beautiful, but the staff are outstanding. So many people that we met go back year after year and I can understand why.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Jungle like Experience

We were at Las Brisas for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time. The resort is huge and is like being in a jungle. Beautiful gardens and trees/cacti everywhere. Rooms and all of the facilities were super clean. However we did experience a sewage smell in our room which came and went. Don't stay in room 2117! Most staff were attentive except for the Mexican and steakhouse restaurants. Service very slow and food mediocre. The Mediterranean was the best!. Beaches were beatiful and clean with easy acces [... read more]s and many colours of fish. Visit Santa Cruz a charming little village. Le Crucecita was too busy with lots of traffic. The stairs and shuttles got a little tedious after 2 weeks. And the rsort was just too big with rooms quite far from pools, beaches and restaurants. So would not return.

Dreams Huatulco: Amazing stay!

This stay was our second consecutive year visiting Huatulco. Trying out Dreams resort was a good choice. Beautiful grounds, no wristbands, no towel cards, unlimited à la cart restaurant visits without reservations. Dreams is an older resort that the rooms have been updated.
