Ok, resort

Grounds were well kept. Food was just ok. found it to be very repetitive after the first 2 days. No entertainment for kids, very little night life. not a lot to do on this resort. ok if you are going to relax and do nothing. staff was very friendly. Rooms were nothing to boost about. Overall would not return to this resort.

Good, clean resort,excellent staff

We where in block 1, very close to everything. Our room was clean and spacious. Our only real problem was trying to secure a lounger either on the beach or pool. We needed to set our alarm every morning for 6 am (thought we where on vacation from the alarm) to secure a spot. All spots where gone by 7 am. Towels on chairs for the whole day but nobody ever came to use them. A better system needs to be put in place. It was ridiculous.

Good Resort

Once we arrived at the resort at approximately 1145 to 1200 AM on Friday April 1st, arriving late at resort not a problem with airline a couple passengers had trouble clearing customs. We were assigned to our room. The balcony door would not close and lock properly and there was a terrible mouldy smell in the room. we made our was back to the lobby area taking approximately 15 minutes in total darkness and not really knowing where we were going. I asked to have someone assist us with our luggage and was told that there was no one available, so we made our way back to the first bungalow to retrieve our luggage 2 bags each and made our way again in total darkness and not knowing where we were really going, getting lost, finally finding the new bungalow and getting settled in at approximately 0145 AM. On Saturday April 2 we were assigned a new room at approximately 1 PM on the main floor. This room was our final room for our vacation, two rooms later. A total of three rooms, after getting settled into the room the rest of the vacation was OK. approximately first 24 hours of vacation not overly impressive. food was good, service generally OK, resort staff friendly, pool area good.

Average resort with amazing service

Service: The customer service staff at the counter is terrible but everyone else from the restaurant to the bars is AMAZING. Food: there was always something really good every night. Breakfast was repeated but there aren't too many breakfast options really. Didn't go to any ala cartes as we had 4 kids with us. Rooms: basic, don't think my sheets got changed, and only had 2 pillows for three beds and 1 towel for three ppl, Pool: COLD!!! hahaha..but nice. don't have to play the save the chair game [... read more] as they take them all away at night and you just ask the guy to bring uyou how many you need to the spot you want. Beach: When you arrive at the beach go right when facing the water, much nicer, The sand of course is snow white and water is crystal blue. Resort: no shops or anything to do but chill, some small games at the pool side but not really any entertainment.

Amazing beach

Beautiful beach with interesting tides and rock formations but also shallow calm warm beach area. Hotel clean, well equipped washrooms, variety of eating locations and generous amount of fresh vegetables and fruit, al a cartels were pleasant but not outstanding. Services was good in ala carre but mediocre to poor in other restaurants. Service in bars quick and accurate. More familiar with French then English. pleasant relaxing beach resort with good value for the price.

Amazing time by all

Resort is awesome we had a great time. Rooms Food Pool and Beach excellent. Resort staff awesome very professional and helpful. Shows at night great. Took a 4 yr old and 12 yr old they had a blast. My two adult kids first time in Cuba they loved it.

Nice resort

The hotel was average. The grounds were well kept and the beach was amazing.pool needs a bit of maintenance. There should be a spot for smoker, it is overwhelming in the evening. The food was good, but because it is not a large resort there is not an extreme amount of choices. The a la carte was nice. The waiting staff was excellent.

Best in caca coco

The rooms are good, showers are not on the wall so you must hold it with one hand while washing. Only water in fridge. Pool is nice beach is great some coral water shoes required but lots of colourful fish. Food is good towlel are not a problem. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bugs at night prefer Varadero.

Cuban vacation April 14-21, 2016

Firstly, I have to say that the Cuban people at this resort and in the area in general, including excursions, etc., were wonderful. So friendly, their ability to speak English, and other languages was awesome, the language barrier was not a problem. The rooms are a basic room, nothing fancy and always clean. There are no facecloths in Cuba, so take some. I also brought extra toilet paper and glad I did, it was needed close to the end with no extra's available. A few things about the resort that [... read more] disappointed and need to be mentioned. 1. There was no direction in our room on how to use the phone. This sounds trivial but if there had been an emergency in the middle of the night, or just a general question to the front desk, we would not have known what number to call. This was not explained at the welcome greeting with Air Transat. We did not find out until the last day that we just needed to call Zero for any assistance. 2. The plugs on one of the walls in my room did not work - I had to call to go to the front desk to ask to get this fixed (because I didn't know who/how to call) and it was done, same day. 3. We had 4 rooms on the ground floor of building No. 5 - they had sliding doors of which none locked!! Luckily safety was not an issue, but not a nice feeling when going to bed or leaving the room unattended all day. 4. Beach towels is a stupid set up: get a ticket at the front desk, take it to the towel hut, HOPE that they have towels for you on your first day. Towels can be exchanged daily or whenever you want. The day you leave you return the towels, get your ticket, take it back to the front desk and they clear your file - lose towel and it's the most expense towel you've ever bought in your life!! Bathroom towels are not changed daily whether they are left hanging up or on the floor. Also, the curtain rod in my shower, and the room next door, would fall the minute you touched it. Very dangerous. 5. The food at the resort was ok. There was always something that we liked to eat - nothing overly fantastic - but we certainly did not go hungry. Buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner was fine and the a la carte meals were good, although pork on the menu's was not available in the Cuban and Portugese restaurants, sold out for the 8:30 settings. The Italian night was good, as well as the entertainment that went with it. Thoroughly enjoyed. 6. Staff in all the bars/restaurants were GREAT, very patient/eager to please especially when dealing with people and free drinks!! All hotel staff we encountered were nice. 7. The bank did not always have the denominations of money that we wanted, ie: small bills, made it hard for lots of tipping. 8. The beach was beautiful, little crowded but it WAS March Break. You had to get your beach and/or deck chairs very early and unfortunately many chairs were saved with towels in both places all day by people who were a no show until late in the day. The pool was lovely, always clear and clean and we loved the fact that we could wade into the water from one end and enjoy the swim up bar at the other end. I would go back sometime, but there are other parts of Cuba and the Caribbean that I would like to see first. It is a family oriented resort and you could clearly see the children were having a good time.

Beautiful Beach

The resort was small and not too much going on in lobby for entertainment most of the time, except for the nightly entertainment in the theatre. We did enjoy our long walks on the beach out to the many sandbars and the pool entertainment was awesome. Adia was amazing, always greeting us with a big smile and always remembered everyone's name.

Great resort.

Our stay at this resort a few week ago was amazing... The food was the best we've had in the many years we have been vacationing in Cuba... We people were very nice and attentive to everyone. The entertainment was super and the beach was the best, the only thing to be improved would be the shower in the room.

Great resort!!

Pestana is a wonderful resort, everything is close together. The rooms are spacious and clean. The pool is nice but the beach is the best part!! Lots of space.....shade and sunny spots. Staff is good, helped when you needed anything. I had a problem with a broken shower head, it was fixed by the time we got back from the catamaran. I would definitely go back! And last but not least....the food, there is always something. Even for picky eaters! It was good for Cuban standards.

Pestana - great bang for the buck!

The Pestana Cayo Coco is a fairly new compact resort on a great stretch of beach. The entertainment, food, and service were all very good and excellent if one considers only Cuban resorts. There is also endless hotwater and excellent shower water pressure.

Second Return Trip!!!

This was our second trip to Pestana Cayo Coco in two years. This is a relatively new resort - very clean and definitely friendly! We were very pleased with everything Pestana offered last year; and pleasantly surprised with the improvements we found this year. It was good to see familiar staff faces from a year ago - that tells us that the staff is treated well, and everyone was so helpful and friendly. And everything is within walking distance - no need for the 'golf cart' to drive you from one point to the other. We are already planning Trip #3 - and bringing more friends! Very impressed with the entire experience.

Very good choice for a budget vacation

Stayed for 7 days Feb. 19 - 26, 2016 Travelled Solo Fifteen minutes bus ride from the airport, quick check-in accompanied by refreshing welcome cocktails. Stayed in block 5, close to everything and very quiet. No issues with my room, everything worked and housecleaning was done perfectly and daily. Food: I would suggest to eat close to opening hours, 7:30 AM & 6:00 PM, plenty of choices and seating is readily available. For lunches I used the grill and other outdoor food kiosks. Didn't try any " [... read more]a la carte" restaurants. Hotel Grounds: Nicely laid out with hotel layout maps situated at strategic points. Clean and even walkways. A little hilly for those with walking issues. Young vegetation and very promising for the future. Beaches: There are two. As you walk to the end of the walkway you have a choice of going right or left. On the right is the crowded, busy, loud / partying beach. You are situated in front of the swimming area. On the left is the "rocky" side but quieter area. Only a short walk to the swimming area and as close to the bar as the right side if not closer. A lot of room for loungers at low tide. It was my preferred side. A good place for those who enjoy snorkeling. Suggestions: Pocket flashlight, the walkways are not that well lit. Beach towel(s). Face cloth. Water shoes (a must if want to wonder on the rocky / coral side). Individual coffee packs, the hotel does run out at times. Individual powered milk for the coffee. Plastic clips to secure your beach towel to your lounger, it can get quite windy. Ice cube baggies if you enjoy a quiet drink on your balcony For the Management: More onsite security personnel (ground patrols). Re-enforcement of the two hours absence for the loungers.

Awesome Vacation at a Great Resort!

Beautiful resort, housekeeping were wonderful - kept things clean, grounds people were very nice, Good Food (liked you good choose fresh meat/food to grill), beach was small but good, was our first all inclusive - would absolutely go back!

Great excursion trips

As a mature woman travelling alone, I had a very enjoyable time at this hotel and several enjoyable bus excursions and a great catamaran snorkelling trip. My only criticism is that I wish the restaurant staff would be better trained to deal with single female diners and not whisk away other place settings as soon as they find out you are alone, this made me very uncomfortable. The staff was very friendly, food was very good and the room was great

Worst service ever

I have been to cuba several times. This was absolutely the worst experience. There was not enough staff on duty and you had to stand in line everywhere. My boyfriend got food poisoning and I asked for an extra bottle of water and I was told only one bottle of water per room per day. I voiced my concerns to the General manager but he obviously didn't care. He wouldn't even sit down to listen to what I had to say when I asked him to. My boyfriends chair at dinner broke as he was sitting down and t [... read more]he manager would even come out of his office to talk to him. Food was terrible. The only decent thing was the room. We waited 28 min at an alacart restaurant for someone to offer us water. Never will I go back to Cuba.

Friendly staff, beautiful resort, amazing vacation

My friend and I were looking to have a get away from school for a week and this was an amazing resort to do just that. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The resort had a perfect balance of quiet and fun. Excellent and beautiful well kept resort!

Beautiful well kept and beautiful grounds. Amazing pool and swim up pool bar. The food was plentiful and for Cuba really amazing! The rooms were clean and I found the staff very friendly! The ocean truly amazing. Miss it already!
