Barcelo Solymar: wonderful beach
The resort was very clean and the staff were wonderful the food was amazing and the "beach beautiful" my only complaint was there was very little entertainment, I have been to Cuba 16 times and this was very disappointing all the other times I have been there was always something to do on the beach in the discos and at the resort the only constant was bingo everyday :( the other problem was if there was something going no one knew where and when something was happening no announcements
Grand Aston Cayo Las Brujas: Very badly managed!!!
Worst adherence to standards. When you know we are going to a certain room then you have to make sure we get what we pay for. It was not the case. We took the building 11 where we are expected to get a Fridge full of soft drinks, alcohol etc but nothing was there. The Flush was not working and there was no Water. There was no Hot Water for bath and everything fell on deaf ears. We loved the place, the Hotel, etc. The Food ofcourse is not to our liking and we do accept it in Cuba. However, [... read more]
Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Had a great time! Great resort!
We had a great time at this resort. The rooms and grounds were very clean and a pleasure to be a part of. The people working were very kind and fun to talk to! The food at the buffet was very delicious and quite a bit of variety. The only thing that I had an issue with at the buffet was that there were a lot of flies around. Which could easily be mitigated by putting plastic wrap on the food and turning the cups over at the tables. I believe these small changes would have made it even better; re [... read more]
Melia Varadero: Amazing Resort
The Hotel was the perfect size for my wife and i as we arent into the Mega resorts anymore. The grounds were beautiful, the staff in general are amazing and kind.Room was newly renovated and posh. Lots of food and very few mosquitoes. My only rant about this resort would have to be about the pool. Needs a lil TLC and the fact that it wasnt a swim up bar made no sense, because its actually a swim up but not close enough to reach for a drink from the bartender
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Quiet Adults Only Resort
Grounds are very well kept with some interesting Art and Decorative features if you take the time to look. Rooms are spacious but do lack a bit of maintenance. Yes your choice of English speaking TV channels is limited, but I didn't spend my Vacation sitting in the room watching television or staring at the inside of our room. Food choices were adequate at the Main Buffett as we as the Pool and Beach Restaurants considering the shortages being experienced all over the Island. The Gourmet Restaur [... read more]
Playa Punta Hicacos: Okay Resort
Overall not bad, good value for price. Not much for food selection, amenities or activities. Room was clean. Service was okay. Right across from Marina and basic shops. Quiet beach, three access points and areas. Only considered a 5 star because there is a separate VIP section with infinity pool, restaurants, nicer rooms, but area is not open for all guests (only 6 guests when I walked through before being stopped by security). Kinda dumb process to line up for almost an hour each time to book a [... read more]
Playa Vista Azul: awesome!!
We were so pleased with just about everything. The food quality and quanity was exceptional. Rooms were clean and well kept for our whole stay. Outside grounds beautiful. Staff treated us like family. We will book in here again for certain.
Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: VIP was the way to go!
We booked a quick vacation. Wanted Sun and cheaper option. We gave up Cuba Varadero 10 years ago, but love the beaches and people so thought we would give Cuba a try again. We tried to upgrade with Trip central to VIP and were told to ask when we arrived. We paid an extra $60.00 a day per room USD but it was well worth it. It is an Adults only area with your own pool, portion of beach and your own club house and restaurant to order what you would like, (limited menu but still nice option) This s [... read more]
Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Worth the price
The Hotel was nice, its fairly new. The staff were friendly. The bars are good, not much for a wait for a drink. The entertainment in the lobby was nice. The food was good, not hard to find stuff to eat…. The beach was nice…a bit rocky bring sand or water shoes and you are fine. The room was nice and kept clean. The wifi is okay… great in the lobby. The pool is nice. The weather was nice. Downtown varadero was nice. Altogether I would say this trip was…..Nice! Lol
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great adults only
Enjoyed Sanctuary Grand Memories. Owners have changed last time here was Riu. Glad to see many old staff still there. Roxana, Nancy Melys Yami all staff still at restaurant/pool bar and Jacob Manager of restaurant all did fantastic job Our Premium suite was awesome nice having 2 toilets comfortable bed. Only wish showers could have been hotter Thanks for another great stay
Melia Las Antillas: It’s a 2 star resort not 4 star
This hotel is not a 4 star. It’s a 2 star. Elevators never worked. Have to use stairs. 10 minutes walk to the beach..If you need the bathroom when you are at the beach you have to walk 6 minutes to pool bathroom which is never working. So you have to go to the lobby washroom which is always broken and never any toilet paper. The hotel has no one to supervise cleaning in the building . The bathtub in the bedroom is disgusting. Food in buffet are always cold. To get the bus 10 minutes walk. If you [... read more]
Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: All Good
Was great for me. Clean and modern. Courteous staff. Food was good. Super value. Pool could be cleaner. Should be vacuumed well and cleaned nightly. Pedicure was great. Entertainment could be less Cuban. More gendres of music. Younger staff could learn more English as majority of us were Canadian. I would definitely go back to unwind. Day trips into town with local busses was easy and economical.
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Wonderful vacation at Sanctuary Grand Memories, Cayo Santa Maria
My husband and I stayed at this resort from January 7 to January 14/2026. This was our second vacation at this resort and we will definitely be returning. The last time we were there was in 2024 and imagine our surprise when we entered the lobby of Sanctuary and saw the faces of workers who were there in 2024 and THEY RECOGNIZED US and greeted us with a huge smile, big wave and hugs. We were so touched by this. We felt we were back with family. Our room was lovely, including a very comforta [... read more]
Sanctuary Cayo Largo: Sanctuary Family
Well kept property and the staff are friendly and sincere in wanting to make your vacation the best possible. They work incredibly hard and long hours to tend to their clients and it shows in the numbers of repeat guests that come 2-3 times annually. Small resort but great variety in activities, food and beverage that is not necessarily available in the larger resorts on the island.
Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Good value
The beach was ok on the left side of the hotel near the vip section, the right side has rocks when u walk in , most benches at the pool and beach were wrecked and uncomfortable, for the price it’s the best hotel you can get in Varadero Cuba
Memories Jibacoa: Memories Jibacoa
Overall good. We have been to Memories Jibacoa about 12 times. However, some problems: Missing pool tiles an ongoing problem for years, sharp edges hazardous to feet in pool. They are working on it. Needs to be repaired once & for all. Of 2 hot tubs only one working for years, cold water only, not heated. Hot tubs when used are often dominated by Cubans, who set up for the day, loudly play their own music, even eating in the hot tub. More & more Cubans present, that's not a problem, but a pr [... read more]
Melia Buenavista: Not a Bad Resort
Grounds were lovely and rooms were nice and spacious. Bed very comfortable and we loved the outdoor shower and water pressure. Food not plentiful and very repetitive. People were wonderful. No fresh fruit and everything was canned. I talked to others who paid A LOT less and had better food at Royalton or other non Melia resorts. I would only recommend if you want an excellent beach and spacious room with lots of privacy. Resort beach and pool hardly had anyone there so we loved that.
Playa Punta Hicacos: Really Enjoyed the Resort
I loved the Staff in the Hotel and on the Beach. A la Carte was great. The piano in the lounge was amazing and we had a great time at night listening to a Guest Play the Piano. The 2 stage shows I went to wee good.
Melia Cayo Coco: Great resort!
Hotel was well laid out, food was good, buffet had lots of food, no running out,big variety of alcohol.Entertainment was fantastic. All facilities were clean and working well. People were very friendly.
Valentin Perla Blanca: Valentin 2026
This resort is beautiful! The beach is beautiful! The people are beautiful! Yes, the food after one week got a little tired but I always had something good to eat. It’s a bit of a large resort so long walk to the beach and back. Very quiet - not many people there. Entertainment was lovely! 1 hour 30 minutes from Airport. Bring snacks but they have beer to purchase 2 for $5 USD Don’t give Canadian loonies and toonies for tips they cannot cash them in there.
