Five star except no toilets near the beach.

New, clean hotel with gorgeous beaches and lots of pools. But very large and spread out so be prepared for lots of walking. Food ok on buffet, but bland in the al la cartels. The entertainment was very good. Nice rooms with great shower. Worst thing was there were no toilet facilities near or on the beach area so you had to walk all the way back to the hotel which was far. Not ideal for women or if you got tummy issues. Love this place!

This was our second time at this hotel and once again we were very pleased! Can't say enough about the great service provided by all staff. We certainly enjoyed the gorgeous beach, we keep going to Cayo Santa Maria ( this was our 10th times) because of the unbelievable beach. Food, drinks and cleanliness all top notch. Don't forget we don't go to Cuba for the food we go to Cuba for the people and the beach. We never been sick because of food in Cuba and never lost a pound either lol.  [... read more] The staff at the lobby bar is the same as in 2016 and most actually recognized us, which was great. Love, love all the staff at the lobby bar and buffet (unfortunately can't remember all the names but I knew all the faces). Thumbs up to Hector and Victor at the buffet and the ladies at the lobby bar. Will certainly be back again.

Needs some love, but fabulous beaches and amazing people!

My Friends and I truly enjoyed our Cuba experience. The staff were fabulous. Any issues we had were taken care of right away. There were some things that need to be changed about the resort. One thing was the washrooms were not tended to enough, not clean enough and they were never stocked of toilet paper. More garbage bins and cigarette disposals would have helped with the litter. Patrons of the resort did not respect that littering was unacceptable. As a non-smoker, I didn't appreciate  [... read more]that guests through cigarette butts anywhere and everywhere. Cuba is not known for gourmet food, but if you chose wisely you ate ok. The create your own pasta, rice, omelettes and pizza were great. Entertainment was also great. We enjoyed the bands after dinner with the spectacular view of the ocean. The Beaches were positively stunning! We made the best of the beautiful environment and people we travelled with and met in Cuba.

Needs improvement!

Well there’s good and bad ..... I will start with the good , the beach and ocean we’re beautiful ! Although the ocean was windy everyday it helped to keep you cool . The grounds needs work , they are working to improve and could have been caused by all the storms . New paint required in the actual rooms and hallways etc. now the bad or not so good ..... took almost 4 full days to get a hairdryer that worked ! No lights either the first night , and upon Che k in no towel allowed till after 4  [... read more]pm which doesn’t allow you to swim or use the beach etc !!! I mean really a towel ??? Come on ! The bedding is a motel quality and beds are hard ! TV only worked sometimes not a big deal but we do like a bit of tv before bed .Food wasn’t horrible and better than most Cuba hotels I’ve stayed in . We certainly didn’t starve to death . Careful of the ice cubes and salads etc as both my sister and I have been home a week almost and Cuba is still visiting us if you know what I mean ! To end on a positive note the staff and people in general are lovely and certainly do try to make your stay as nice as possible with what they have ..... which is t a lot compared to us Canadians so grateful for their efforts.

Would definitely go there again

We went here on a last minute vacation. Our travel agent Heather suggested we try this place and it didn't disappoint. To be able to do an A La Carte every night if you want was awesome, and the food selection at the buffet was amazing not to mention that the lines weren't bad at all. The service there was top notch, we had a problem with the air conditioning in our room and they immediately sent a bell boy and moved rooms for us! Good Resort

The staff were ok and the hotel and rooms were clean mostly the grounds were well manicured, the caffateria was loud and rather disorganized and the shower in our room was not working properly along with the hair dryer, there were no bathrooms close to the beach and toilet paper seemed to be at a premium. The bed was unacceptable and the pillows were rediculous, and the fan above our bed was in need of a cleaning as there was a large amount of dust on the blades. Amazing staff

This was my first trip to CUBA. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The food was ok, but there wasn't enough choices. The buffet was small and very limited. The build your own stations were pretty good, although you had to wait in some long lines. The a la carte restaurants were pretty bad. The selection of food at the 24 snack bar was skimpy. At times, your only choice was a ham and cheese sandwich. The entertainment and games were good however they got boring quickly. Song an [... read more]d dance numbers every night and at the pool side. They were very talented but I woukdve liked more interactive shows. Otherwise, the resort was clean and although there were many problems with our rooms the first day, staff were quick to fix the issues or move people around if needed. The bar had a very limited selection and often ran out of my favourites. They had no diet soda which was disappointing. All in all, we had fun but I don't think I would return to this resort.

Not Bad...

We stayed at this resort Feb 9-16. It was clean and seemed updated. Drinks were strong and the beech beautiful. Our room was missed being cleaned twice. The lighting at night needs to be improved on the walk ways. Food as expected and could be highly improved. Always able to get a chair and nice to have someone at the beech to help with this. Not much to do a night other than the shows.

Great time!!

We traveled with 15 people and stayed at the resort February 8th to 15th 2018. Upon arriving we did have a few issues with our rooms the front desk quickly fix that. The food was good. Especially when hearing Cuba was the worst for food, but I didn't find it terrible and I can be picky at times. The entertainment was great the staff were excellent. The beach was gorgeous and clean, the grill was amazing. The resort was clean my only complaint would be the amount of cigarette butts on the gro [... read more]und due to lack of ashtrays around the resort. I would stay here again.

A little too new for my tastes.

Although I enjoyed my stay at Ocean Casa Del Mar, I found that the landscaping was not mature enough for my liking. I would prefer a resort with more mature trees and landscaping to give it a more cooling effect. The ocean breezes were lovely, and the ocean was magnificent as always. The room was wonderful, although we couldn't quite figure out the air conditioner; it was either too cold, or if we shut the system off, it was too warm. The view was nice from our balcony. The cleaning crew  [... read more]were very efficient and accommodating. The food was good and the two a la carte restaurants we tried were excellent; the Origami, and the Neptuno. The main buffet dining room had lots to offer, along with fresh prepared food. Entertainment at all meal times was an unexpected bonus. Staff at all restaurants were friendly and helpful. I think the staff at the Riso, lobby bar were a little disappointed in us. We are not heavy alcoholic drinkers and we did not continuously order drinks there. Mike's Coffee was more our style. We arrived very late on Sunday morning (2:00 a.m.), but the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Again, it was an enjoyable stay.

Great Beach

The Beach made up for what the hotel room lacked. The bedding was not great, the hair blower didn't work, electrician had to be called multiple times because lighting didn't work, but the beach was excellent with soft white sand and warm clear water. staff was very kind but very weak English. When I had to wait for my room to be ready they couldn't understand that I wanted a beach towel for example and had to spend 3 hours without a beach towel. Nice resort

Ocean Casa del Mar is a great hotel, new and very clean. Food is good specially fish. Many restaurants and bars. Finally very quiet resort, but it was pretty windy. Beach is one of the best I have ever seen.

Amazing stay

The Ocean Casa Del Mar is all you can expect! Great room accommodations, beautiful grounds, variety of restaurants and great buffet for breakfast lunch and dinner. The entertainment is great. The staff is very friendly andhelpful. Overall we had an amazing time. I would definitely go back 😍

Great time

We had a wonderful time at this resort, the bar staff were amazing and service was excellent. The place was very neat and pretty. The beach was very nice music was good, overall it was a great experience and we would go back.

Great Vacation

We had a wonderful week at Ocean Casa del Mar. The beach was great with plenty of chairs available. Any issues were dealt with in a timely manner. There was always a good selection of food at the buffet so never had a problem finding something to eat. Enjoyed all the coffees at Mike’s Cafe.

Just like the pictures

This was a really great hotel. My husband put a really thorough review on Google with pictures if you want to see it. I found the hotel to be very nice, newer (built in 2013 I think) great staff and pretty decent food for Cuba (seafood was the best). The beach was beautiful with white sand beaches. We didn't have a lot of sun when we were there but it was because of hurricane Irma that went through not long ago. There is some residual rain and cloudy days, but usually Cuba is perfect in Jan/Feb. [... read more] The best thing about Cuba though, as always, is the people. The staff is always amazing and they have such a beautiful culture. We did a day trip as well to the coal reef and dolphin center which I would very much say is worth going too. Great time, lots of dolphin interaction and wonderful lobster lunch. I would very much recommend this resort.

Exceptional treatment

The staff was so accommodating and the food was so much better than I expected . My room was so clean and I had the best time . The only thing I didn’t like is the last day I was supposed to have a full day but instead I had to wait at airport for 5 hours cause only one bus from my resort

Okay

There were some good things and bad about the hotel. The food was very mediocre the first couple of days and then it improved and was very good. They had wonderful coffee and a coffee bar open 24 hours. The staff were great and the entertainment was top notch. There seemed to be a shortage of toilet paper after the first couple of days. It was not replenished in the public bathrooms for the rest of the week and you had to bring your own. Even in our room I had to go ask for it. Good Trip

We stayed at Casa Del Mer the week of January 23rd ,2018, being our first time in Cuba we had no idea what to expect. People were saying to bring your own ketchup which I did, and I was glad I did. The buffet was okay, lots of choices. There was an Italian restaurant which we booked, but the service was the worse so we ended up walking out, the food was okay. As for the rooms, they were nice and spacious especially the large shower! There are 2 negatives issues that I can say and that is to bring your own toilet paper, oh my it was a nightmare to get toilet paper. We would have to walk into the men's washroom to take there toilet paper. Not enough entertainment at the pool for the teenagers or kids. Overall it was nice, lots of walking and bring bug spray.

beautiful resort to look at! gorgeous scenery....lots of walking, or go carting....typical Cuba food, beach snack bar was always broken, no chicken ever!...Kids had tons of fun at the kids disco, but could have used more day activities for them...all in all good bang for the buck, had fun
