Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not ready for western tourists
Grounds good hotel rooms third world quality poor response by main desk to problems. Should be under construction than reopened. Food prep poor in ala carts. No pool towels 7 days not enough staff to service drink venue,s.Money exchange inflation cuc Paso a trip off. Tourist reps very good and knowledgeable.
Melia Varadero: Good vacation
We were upgraded to a suite which was great news. The room itself was dated, furniture stained, chipped bit the private terrace and view were spectacular. The food was decent. Buffett was not appealing, what you would expect but the a la carte restaurants were very good. Service was just ok. It's a large resort so many different people were serving you. The one big thing lacking was nightlife. There was sometimes someone singing in the piano bar but after 930 or so there wasnt much to do
Melia Varadero: Awesome Resort
Awesome place we go back there again and would highly recommend itSuper friendly stuff only problem we had was the cleaning lady when I was in keys and took a towel is that we brought from home. The hotel was close enough that you could take a scooter or a bike and go into Varadero
Playa Vista Azul: Had a great time
The resort was fine but Yanetsy made it by her personal touches in our room and her constant happy presence . You could not prebook the alacarte restaurants so it made it very difficult to get into .
Iberostar Origin Tainos: Beautiful quiet resort
Iberostar Tainos is so far the best resort I've been in Cuba. Small, with homey filling about it, quiet and friendly - a place you can rest and enjoy. Clean rooms, restaurants and grounds, friendly staff, good food, amazing beach (not too crouded), profesional quality enterntaiment, outdoor dancing party before the night show - everything for your best vacation.
Starfish Jibacoa: Heaven
Feb 14 we landed into paradise . This is our second time there as we can’t get enough of the beach . The sand is beautiful, always a chair waiting for u , no one takes your towel . The snorkeling was amazing . Hidden treasures near and far into the ocean . Children playing , snorkeling near the sand . Had a great time seeing how safe life should be . I can’t swim but I was in the ocean floating and managed to get to see exotic fish . I even found an octopus by myself . Hubby was proud . The [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star
We had no hot water for our 7 days, only lukewarm for 2. The beaches were not maintained, lots of weeds, cut my feet on broken shells. There was no path to the beach, would have been nice that one was built. The buffets were always the same. The only saving grace was the a la carte Japanese and oriental. I should have gone to the Royalton hotel instead. I'm so disappointed.
Grand Memories Varadero: Very rundown resort
I was recommended this resort and found it so disappointing. Spent way too much for my stay. The rooms weren't up kept. Patio door handle was falling off and wouldn't lock. The phone didn't work. The plugs were so over used that nothing would stay plugged in. We had to change rooms. You were lucky to get towels daily no face cloths and shower hook up was at your waste and falling apart.... They ran out of vodka, beer, tequila and ice at the bars ... you often had one choice... Rum. Had coffee ma [... read more]
Melia Varadero: Amazing resort and service!
Everything from the moment you walked in just feels right! It is a beautiful well kept resort and the staff are amazing. They go above and beyond for their guests. I’ve been there twice and we plan on going again next year. If you can upgrade to the level, I highly recommend it.
Muthu Playa Varadero: WOW place to be
This was a good place to be. The staff from the tour guides to the lobby every one wore a smile and always Hola Hola. The pool area was always clean and every guest wanted to be outside. The part i enjoyed most was the food always available almost 247. Most guests didnt know there is a clean microwave to reheat your food in the dinning area. Trust me i made use of it. My water bottle was always full with Crystal beer. I got the room i wanted with ocean view. Every linen was clean and crisp [... read more]
Gran Caribe Sun Beach: This is the worst Resort
This is the worst hotel I been in the 5 time that I been to Cuba the food was bad the service was bad they run out of plates and glasses no soup bowls , the beach was on the other side of the street the bars were not opened at the times they said .they run out beer sometimes they had no ice no more Vodka , and the rooms were terrible they look nothing like the picture they show online they have no keys for the safety deposit box in the room I will never stay there again
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great place, great food, great music!
We stayed here 7 years ago and loved it then. We were a bit nervous going back after so much time, but we’re not disappointed. We decided to upgrade to the privilege section and it was worth it. The grounds were well kept, the rooms were clean, friendly staff, great food, especially in the privilege lounge. Live music in the lobby and piano bar every night! Also, direct flight from Ottawa to Varadero and a short bus ride to the resort.
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing weather, beach and landscaping. Exterior of the 6 buildings looked great.
We were disappointed that the resort was advertised as all inclusive. Neither red nor white wine was available during our two week stay unless you bought a bottle. The rooms needed to be upgraded - old worn out furniture. Had to ask for a room change because of the condition of our first room. Food was questionable. Sometimes labelled. Sometimes not labelled. Sometimes labelled incorrectly. Specialty restaurants were a real disappointment. The food was not good at all. Some items on the menu [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Horrible!
I don’t usually write reviews but I think this hotel needs one. I want to start with the stuff at the front desk that were not very nice and every time you asked them for something such as a bottle of water they said that they have to send it to the room but this took 24 hrs on two different occasions and you were better off buying at the store of the resort. The beach TOWELS were a huge problem for 5DAYS they said they don’t have new ones and yes we had to use the same ones 5 days in a row [... read more]
Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort!
I stayed in a beautiful cottage facing the ocean! What a gorgeous view. The beach is well maintained and the swimming and snorkeling are great. There is an abundance of beach loungers. And if you want to get out of the sun, shade is provided by trees. The expansive grounds are well maintained. Daily housekeeping excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. There is an abundance of food. My only suggestion... there is usually a long lineup at the grill at lunch and dinner....perhaps have two che [... read more]
Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average resort but not 4 1/2 stars
We recently visited Iberostar Laguna Azul hotel in Varadero after 10 years .If you are looking for 4 or 5 star hotel this is NOT the place , and for the price you pay you can get better services anywhere else. The place was in the past nice but now is outdated requiring a major facelift . Grounds are nice and well kept. Food is repetitive consisting in a lot of cooked meats , rice , pasta but no BBQ . They running out daily of clean dishes , mint for mohito/drinks, no straw [... read more]
Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing Experience
The resort was very clean and very welcoming. It was nice to sit by the pool and relax or to take advantage of the variety of planned activities if we wanted to participate. The dining was great offering a variety of ethnic foods. It was unfortunate wine was not available however other beverages were available. I would definitely recommend the resort and I will be returning. Ps. met some great people. New friendships.
Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort
We upgraded to Privilege when we arrived and it was definately worth it. The breakfasts and dinners at the privileged lounge were great. Cuba resorts are well know for their bland, bad food. This was definately not the case here.
Sol Varadero Beach: Good resort
Good: new, nice beach, shower in room. Lobby bar was great. Bad: Slow service, freezing cold pool, always out of toilet paper, not enough bar staff to keep up, fire alarms kept going off, no stocked fridge in room,
Hotel Tuxpan: Some upgrades needed, but great overall
The staff was wonderful, very helpful and pleasant. The grounds, pool are various buildings were great. Even the food was good. The drawbacks are that the glass patio doors are foggy and need replacing, at least in the 2 rooms we used. The elevator lights and floor needs upgrading. And the toilet kept running in our room. But overall still a great place to go.
