Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful Resort

It's a very beautiful resort and is kept very clean! The staff are so friendly and awesome! The beach and ocean were beautiful as well! My only complaint was the lack of grills, not a fan of the buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Was there 4 days and only got 2 restaurant meals so we were stuck with a lot of buffets. I've never been to a resort that didn't have a grill or lunch restaurant. Rooms were clean but dated, I stayed in 5374.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Pretty Good Resort

Grounds - Kept well. No complaints. Took a bit to figure out which way was which. haha. Really enjoyed the jungle setting. Lots of birds, iguanas, and monkeys around. Highlight. We had a room in #12 and in the afternoon the monkeys would be in the trees outside our room. We were able to feed them bananas from our hand and they would come right to our balcony. Hot water took forever, but it came eventually. Pools - Our favourite part of this resort. The water was nice and warm which made it easy for the kids to get in. The pool was huuge! Did not feel crowded at all and lots of space to swim around, explore, and play. Beach - Least favourite part. Although we're not really beach people so a bit biased. But, it's a cove setting, so you don't get that beach feel or view. The beach seating was set up into 3 levels with stairs going down, so a bit different that you would normally see at resorts. Lots of fish though. Bring bananas to the water and watch the fish swarm around you. Food - mediocre. It was food and we ate it, but nothing special here. Selection seemed smaller than most resorts I've been to. Not terrible, but not great. Resort Overall about a 6/10. Don't think I'd return as the last Mayan Resort we went to we enjoyed more.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: My Favorite Place to Be!!!

I have been to this resort now 3 times and I have no complaints. I don't think any other resort can top this one. The grounds are breathtaking and the food is exceptional. Many activities to do and the rooms are very modern and clean. My favorite a la carte is the Spanish and steakhouse. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants luxury and class on their vacation:)

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Fabulous resort!!!

So we decided to take the plunge and finally go to Mexico. Rivera Maya is fantastic. Best of all we chose to stay at Barcelo Maya Tropical! Best choice ever. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was great from the buffets to specialty restaurants all wonderful. The beach was to die for. Our only regret- we didn't do it sooner. Will definitely be going back.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Fantastic resort

Highly recommend this resort...we would go back for sure. Rooms are very nice. Food was great. Service was great. Beach was nice but a little too much see weed.entertainment was great. Front desk service was friendly and quick and very polite. I have been away many times and this resort was the best of been too. Again I highly recommend going to this resort.

Occidental Caribe: Amazing time

Food drinks beach pool pool bar amazing!!!! No complaints about any of it!!! Only issue was reception desk was slow and not overly helpful but absolutely beautiful resort! Would return here. Amazing!!

Barcelo Solymar: Amazing

check in was fast and front desk was pleasant, our rooms were amazing we booked the bungalow suite and it was perfect. the pool was clean and having access to the Arenas resort was a bonus. Ive been to cuba 15 times and I will honestly say the food was the best ive had in Varadero. location is great as I enjoy going to Calle 62 which is still in walking distance. Barcelo Maya Caribe: Sweet resort

Had a blast on the surf simulator, the food was great! Beach was wicked, weather was nice I have no complaints over here!! The location is ideal if you are looking to visit any sink holes because there is three or four across the road 😀.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Beautiful, huge resort

We really liked this resort. It's very family oriented. We travelled with our one year old son and there were lots of other people there with babies and toddlers. If you're travelling as a couple and looking for a lot of quiet and relaxation it may not be your number one choice. Although, they do have an adults only pool which looked really nice and you can also reserve Bali beds in that area (not sure of price). It's quite a large resort and we did A LOT of walking. If you're not very mobile or don't enjoy lengthy walks this might not be the place for you. The pool was a lot of fun and is absolutely huge. Rooms are very nice, only complaint was the very hard and uncomfortable mattress (felt like there were springs in my back) Buffet was average- could always find something to eat. A la cartes were quite nice with the French restaurant being our favourite of the 3. Didn't really spend much time at the beach but there were always lots of chairs. Just not a lot of shade. Overall I'd rate it a 4/5 and would recommend to anyone traveling with young children

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful, Huge Resort

This resort is beautifully landscaped and located on the best beach in the Mayan Riviera. You will never be bored at this resort and you will always find comfort whether sitting by the pool or on the beach. There are plenty of activities and entertainment throughout the day and night. Furthermore, the food is great at the buffets with enough variety. The a la cart restaurants are definitely worth booking especially the Japanese and Steakhouse. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Gorgeous location! Don't arrive on a Saturday afternoon though...

Everything was spot on except the reception desk, food, drinks were great... service and staff were friendly except for the reception desk... We flew in on a Saturday evening and reception only had two people working then, never seen such Kaos in my life! They were very unfriendly and not professional at all. When we left the next Saturday at noon, there were bus loads of people arriving I would say over 200 inline and they must of had over a two hour wait to check in on a Saturday hot afterno [... read more]on, no air conditioning in the lobby! We were able to check out, but that took 45 minutes. People were yelling at the 4 receptionists, everyone was just miserable! Beyond that, Barceló is a great place to stay for the $$.

Barcelo Solymar: Great time

The Barcelo Solymar was a great hotel, keep in mind you are in Cuba and you will be fine. The beach was spectacular and the hotel is walking distance to downtown Varadero which is amazing. This is definitely a fun hotel that caters to a younger crowd, I wouldn't go here with my children. If you are young and single and looking to have a good time this is definitely the hotel for you.

Occidental Punta Cana: Beautiful Place, Bad Service

This resort and it's beach were undeniably beautiful. If a nice beach is a top priority, this was a great beach in DR. TONS of people selling; it was not very peaceful as you were constantly interrupted by someone trying to sell something. The A La Carte food was fantastic; the rest of it was not good and actually made me feel quite sick. Half renovated, half not. The renovated parts were very nice. When we arrived at the resort at 1 in the morning, myself and 13 others booked through Transat were told the resort was full and they shipped us to another resort at 3 in the morning. Finally got checked in and into bed by 5 in a dingy room in a dark corner of a 3000 room resort. No apologies from our provider (Transat) or the resort itself. Nothing was done to remedy the mistakes made. I hate when people leave reviews that are only negative because this is paradise, how could it really be that bad? We had a few nice days in the middle of the week where nothing went wrong, and the resort as I said was gorgeous. Overall, I would do anything to get my $1400 back because I work hard for my money and it was wasted on these businesses. They provided poor service with awful communication and did nothing to compensate us afterwards. I did not even receive a response about our complaint until 2 months after we had returned. I wanted one night's worth of my trip refunded to compensate for the full day we were exiled from our resort, and they refused. I will never book through any of these channels again and I recommend others heed my warning. If you really like the look of the resort, take a chance and go for it, but don't book through these providers.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Stunning Resort

This Resort is absolutely amazing! It is beautiful, the beach is fantastic, the pools are massive and amazing! So much for kids to do. The entire Barcelo Maya Grand is spotless, they have thought of everything! The food is fabulous! There is so much to chose from, they have the most amazing desserts! We can't wait to return! Even the rooms are nice, even though we did not have a newly renovated room, the rooms were still fresh and clean. I consider myself and my husband to be very picky people, and we were so impressed! Mexican restaurant and Japanese our favourite a la carter, but they were all very good!

Barcelo Solymar: What a Beach!

We booked this last minute. We stayed May 10-15th at Solymar. From past experience we looked at the weather network and saw this looked very promising. The weather was bang on! The resort is just as most people describe it. It is Cuba and as such it doesn't have all the amenities that some other destinations have. But you don't pay nearly as much either. Set your expectations right and you will have a great time. For the record, I burn easily. I bought Clarins 30 spray and applied it regularly. And I tried to stay under the little beach huts as much as I could. I ended up with great colour and no burn. Take sandals to the beach as the sand gets very hot in the middle of the day. I promise when you see that beach you'll understand what all the buzz is about. I've been to beaches in Canada, the States, Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean..... this is in a class by itself!

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great party resort

My third time staying at this resort. Improvements are constantly being made. Great beach. Great food. Great night life. Great variety of pools Can be tough to get drinks at night without tipping. Staff are mediocre. Location is as good as it gets. Resort land is well kept

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Go back again anytime!!

We absolutely loved this place. For our first trip to Mexico, it was hard to decide where to go. After many days of research. We came up with barcelos. Best decision we've ever made. Already planning another trip in Christmas time. Highly recommend this place.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: This was an amazing resort!

The grounds were neat and clean of garbage and the pool area was very picturesque and well kept. The beach was in walking distant and there was a lot of lounging chairsas was the pool area. There was 2 bar areas and service was good and the server's were very kind and helpful and the drinks were delicious!! It was my first experience to a tropical island but I would love to go there or any where in Cuba again!!

Occidental Tucancun: Great Food and Clean Resort

The grounds are perfect and the food was great. The only con would be the large size of the resort and lack of beach area. Walking from your room to the main lobby, waiting for the correct tolly to take you for dinner, disco or beach was just too time consuming for a holiday. You want to get away from lineups and enjoy your time.

Barcelo Solymar: Party Resort!!

This was a great Resort for my friends and I, it was a huge party all week!! I would recommend this Resort to anyone young and looking for a good time! The wifi does not work and the customer service was not the best but it definitely did not determine the trip!
