VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Place!!

Our hotel was better than expected! It was very clean- and grounds kept tidy and neat. We enjoyed our stay, we Bought the premium package and we’re very happy we did. The regular beach area was very busy but on the upgraded side was amazing! We had awesome service on the beach- Amamble tended to our needs at the beach - very nice, professional and friendly to us and 2 teens. The premium lounge gave us a nice air conditioned area to have drinks (premium liquor) and the service there was great a [... read more]s well.. Jose and Eunice always greeted us with a smile and went over and beyond to make our stay great. The buffet was good but we’re glad to have the a la carte restaurants for our dinners. Our favourites were the Italian and Caribbean. All in all we would return to this resort - it wasn’t too small but definitely not too big- everything was only a few min walk anywhere.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Fantastic resort

The beach, facilities, the location of the resort, the entertainment, the staff all were outstanding. The buffet and restaurants were most enjoyable. I would say that the overall value of the package was excellent.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: All good, nothing exceptional

With a budget of less then $1000 this property met expectations. Room good, food good, entertainment good, staff were very good. Nothing stood out as exceptional which is too bad. Even a great cup of coffee would have meant the difference between going back to this property or trying another.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very nice

We had a blast awesome family holiday.the food was excellent ,the ocean view room will definitely bring us back and the beach and pool were great. A very relaxing and enjoyable holiday , looking forward to going back next year!😎

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great Location

Upon arrival to Casa Marina, I was worried. It had a very small lobby with no welcome whatsoever. It was raining too, which probably didn't help the mood. We waited in line at this hole in the wall reception desk to be told our room was not ready. No one offered to take our baggage or direct us to the restaurant while we waited. There was no lobby bar. Not a great vibe at this point. We were travelling with other friends, and their rooms were ready. We found a spot to keep our luggage "se [... read more]cure" (open luggage storage closet), and went to the snack bar that was closing soon for a quick snack. By this time, it was 4pm, check in was posted as 3pm and our room still wasn't ready. Our friends had received their rooms and told us they were scary and had dirty tubs and sheets! Now, I was ready to transfer. As we looked around though, the resort was actually nice. There were outdoor bars next to the beach and pool. There were beautiful outdoor cold water Jacuzzi tubs. Once we finally received our room, (we had paid for the upgraded deluxe garden view), we found it to be quite nice and well worth the upgrade by the sounds of the rest of the groups' rooms. Our friends ended up switching rooms the next day and were much happier. After getting settled, we were quite happy overall with this resort. I loved it's in town location. You could walk out and explore the markets and the nearby Sosua Beach. We ate at a great steak restaurant in town. The buffet food was quite good and most days had good variety. The A La Cartes were good food, but terrible service. Actually the service everywhere was quite lacking. Tip or no tip, sometimes you could get waited on, but most times you were finding your own coffee and pouring your own water in the restaurants. The safe is $15US for the week. The towel cards are given to you at check in and if not returned, you pay $15 for each lost card. Overall, the resort was compact, in a great location and nice. Pools were great, jacuzzi tubs were beautiful, beach was ok, but usually Red Flag, food was good and location was great. The hotel is still under renovation so I expect it will only improve. If the service was greatly improved, this would be a great little resort.

Puerto Plata Village: Beautiful pool

The public areas and grounds are gorgeous and the staff are fabulous, we have never met such happy and friendly people. The rooms are adequate, but need a little updating, we had a couple of minor issues which were sorted out quickly. The food was good but got a little repetitive, so a week was enough. We really liked the pool area and felt very safe in the resort. Excursions were very expensive though as everything is priced in US dollars.

Riu Merengue: Wonderful Resort

Fantastic landscape and the most beautiful beach with lots of lounges and great scenery. The food was always good no matter what your preference. Rooms very clean and good maid service. Front desk staff were wonderful and the Sunwing rep was very helpful and always available on site every day. Good pool and plenty of shade when needed. Entertainment was good with plenty of auditorium room. One of the best if not THE best we ever have stayed.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Amazing Family vacation

Our 3rd time at this resort. Food-The steak house, (a la carte) amazing, 5 stars here. Oriental Fusion (a la carte) amazing, 5 stars also We did not do the seafood a la carte. The buffet was just okay. My husband and I agree that it was just okay. Love fish, however it was seemed to be under cooked at times. As well as some of the red meats. Downside, the vendors. Although there were quite a few, on the first approach from vendor I would say no thank you loud enough that I was not approached by other vendors. (That's all it took). The bridge-had to say something about this. This bridge(on the property) takes you to the beach. Look carefully and you will see turtles , chucks, and amazing birds.This bridge goes through what appears to be natural jungle. Truly amazing. The staff-Amazing, go beyond to make their guests comfortable. The animation staff, 5 stars here. We were a family of 6 travelers, as the parents of middle age adult children, the animation kept them busy, always came over to us, (parents,) just to say hi and do the High 5.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Exceeded my expectations!

I totally impressed with this resort. The beach was awesome...I could walk a long ways either way and felt totally safe. There were always plenty of chairs on the beach and you never had to get up early in the morning to claim one. I loved that part. You could pull the chairs to where ever you wanted ...closer or farther from the ocean. The only down fall was 2 days of rain...but that was out of everyone's hands...the remainder days were sunny and very warm. It was an awesome experience!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: HORRIBLE RESORT

What a horrible vacation it was. The reception staff, manager housekeeping disgusting behaviour. They acted as if we are staying for free. Don’t ruin your mods and vacation going to this horrible resort. Waste of money these people need to go and learn manners and hospitality.

Great resort, food was very good. 3 restaurants that we ate dinner every night. Staff were very friendly. Entertainment was fair. Would recommend. Don’t book horse back riding off anyone on the beach. Book only with ur hotel. They are scammers in the beach., Enjoy your stay!!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

We throughly enjoyed this resort and would return. Very clean and the staff was very friendly. The food was great and plenty of it.We did find the nightly entertainment was a little boring with it starting with a kids session each night and sometimes there is only one or two kids but they go through the same music each night. We were in the smaller complex with our own pool and bar but if you didn't walk over to the gym in the main area you would not know what the daytime entertainment was.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing vacation

Amazing vacation vip everything we did see a big huge spider at serenety beach so be careful also a lot of bugs of bugs in the rooms but overall amazing resort. They will try to make your tour the resort so that you can become a lifestyle member and so that you have access to the whole resort so just bring a bit of money if that sounds like something you'd want to do.The pina colada are the best also at the lifestyle center and there's free WiFi thete so just a heads up!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Cofresi Palm Beach Resort and Spa

We had an amazing stay. We were not VIP but that didn't matter. The pools were clean and there were a lot of them so we never got bored. The beach was okay, I'm used to staying at resorts where the beaches are cleaned daily but still it's a beach with sand and salt water! The food was good, got bored of the buffet by day 4 but that's to be expected. There were A LOT of stairs and the rooms were outdated but it was still a great time. Staff were great! Friendly and waited on you everywhere

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Good for the price, good for young people.

We got a deal...on our honeymoon. The reviews other people wrote were true: there is a canal that runs from the lobby to the beach and smells horrible most of the time. Suggestion to the resort is to cover it so that no one has to smell sewage. Yes, lots of hills and everyone is zipping around on golf carts and buses. So be careful not to get run over. Everyone gets sick from the food/drinks. The highlights were the once-a-week Sunday night VIP dinner where they had brand name alcohol and a pig  [... read more]roast, bands and dancing with a pro DJ pumping tunes. The Thursday night party at The Dome, which also has top shelf drinks and a crazy amount of stuff going on. The beach was small but pretty nice. The staff were very friendly, they gave us an upgrade from a double twin room to a king suite. The casino treats you well and had good drinks, free for all players; and popcorn, nachos. The a-la-carte restaurants were great, especially Trapiche Mexican, and Indochine Chinese. Bellini's Italian restaurant is open for snacks from noon to 6:30PM and is near Royal Suites where almost no one goes to the pool, so it was a hidden gem where we went everyday for late-late lunch. Downsides were: housekeeping doesn't speak much English so it was hard to communicate. Ice disco had lame music and full of teenagers, and the ceiling was really moldy and dripping water the whole time. Don't slip and break a bone. Cofresi area was for lower income people so the rooms reflect it, musky air, bad air conditioning, leaky sink and hot water issues. The minibar is only filled on arrival, so you get 2 beers, 2 pops only. The Cofresi pool bars have low quality no name brand drinks. The restaurant wine is not good either. Us and everyone we talked to got sick from the food/drinks. It was impossible to get change from the lobby bank. We didn't enjoy the show at The Coliseum, lame low quality performers. In conclusion: spend all your time at the richer Tropical side of the resort, go to all the events, maximize your a-la-carte reservations, go to the casino at least once, bring USD and get change from the bartenders. Go to town to have a break from the resort, cabs for the day are $50. Be prepared to be on the toilet for the first couple days. If its really bad, go to the onsite doctor. They give you an injection that makes you better right away. Bring your insurance slip with you. Don't fall prey to the tours of the resort by the staff in the golf carts. Its a sale technique. One person was so sad. They got him drunk and he signed up for 25 years. He couldn't even afford the golf cart which was an extra $7000. One guy spent $43000 and still had to pay $299/week for the villa and $70/day for all inclusive. So, if you have money that you don't need... I would spurge on a different, more expensive resort before coming back. We went to Blue Bay Villa Dorados in April 2017. It was nicer and we didn't get sick. Only 20 mins up the road from Cofresi. I actually prefer Club Amigo in Holguin, Cuba to Cofresi. They had Club Amigo priced at $800 each for 2 weeks in April. We spent $1365 each for 2 weeks in January at Cofresi.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Good value

Grounds: clean, well kept. Rooms: large rooms with beautiful balconeys, comfortable beds, clean, everything well functioning ( AC, washrooms) Dining: the buffet has a good food selection. It would be nice to have more fruit selection. A la carte: we tried the Mexican restaurant and both the salmon and the beef were very tasty. Entertainment: good quality. Ocean: for those who like to swim in the Ocean, the waters a bit rough with high waves and strong currents but still an enjoyable experience.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Never again!

The resort needs some major work done such as tile in the pool is missing and also on the decking. The mattresses need to be replaced as ours was rock hard. Door keys were probably fixed daily which was aggravating. The food was not good, there wasn't a variety. The worst we the 2 cockroaches we found in our room. Because of this we would not go back.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Beautiful Resort!

It was my first time, and my husbands 5th time, visiting the DR. This resort was honestly wonderful! Food was good, staff were great, lots to do!! They had dancing performances every night which were awesome! A ton of stuff to do on a beautiful resort!
