It was our 5th trip to Cuba and a second trip to Memories Flamenco. We were there in December of 2012 and had a great time.
We have noticed mostly positive changes ex. the quality food and the amazing beach..
We understand that the management has changed since our first visit from being Spanish to Canadian and with it the variety of food (more international) great selection of vegetables in the buffet restaurant and great selection of deserts. I personally didn't have a good experience in a l[... read more]a carte restaurant .Was sick for 2 days after eating fried fish. Some other guests had some issues as well.
The room was clean, our maid was exceptional. The grounds are kept fairly clean especially around most common areas due to the exceptionally hard working gardener whom we have recognized from our previous stay.
The staff mostly very friendly. The waiters at the lobby bar area a little tardy at times and the bartenders sometimes a little impatient and inconsistent with the drinks quality, but overall very good.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good Resort for Kids
The resort size is perfect. Beach, Pool, Buffet all within short distance from rooms. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My 6 year old son loved it. The beach is huge! Lenny's lobster shack is worth the trip.

Memories Jibacoa: Exactly what we wanted
Resort was very clean, quiet (after 10:30pm). Staff went out of their way to help you.Beach was lovely the first week, lots of snorkeling with the huge reef right there. However the second week there was lots of garbage washing on the beach for three days, perhaps from a cruise ship? Anyway we didn't use the beach then, just the pool. The only complaint that I have is that they did not clean the piles of garbage on the beach for at least 3 days, not good for tourism.
If you go to this resort it[... read more] is adults only, upgrade to the diamond club, they will give you a special dinner which includes the best steak and lobster they have, plus live music for dancing and upgraded drinks. You also get your own concierge (Vinny and David ) and Butler service on the beach, best value around, plus special dining at lunch time plus more a large Carter restaurant reservations. Best bang for your dollar.
When we return to Cuba, we will be staying there again. 5 Stars from me.

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort
This resort is very picturesque with the mountains around it and the ocean on the other side. The grounds were very well kept and the staff very friendly. We've been to Cuba about 8 times and this is the first time at this resort. The food was the best we've ever had in Cuba. The beef was so tender both in the buffet and the International restaurant.
This is a great place to relax and recharge. Havana is only an hour away so it's a great place to take a tour from. We went with a driver, J[... read more]unior, and an English speaking guide, Giselle. They were perfect - knowledgeable, friendly, funny.
You will find many repeat guests at this resort - some have returned 30 times!
We didn't upgrade to Diamond Club but friends of ours did and they were very well taken care of. We were taken care of as well but the Diamond Club staff greeted them wherever they saw them and were ready and willing to fulfill any request -eg. booking an a la carte...they mentioned which one they wanted & when & it was booked & confirmed for them. There was no need for them to go into the lobby and book it themselves.
This resort seems to be mostly people over 35 although there seems to be plenty for adults of all ages.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing experience!
Memories Caribe is a beautiful tropical paradise. The pristine grounds are tended lovingly by dedicated and knowledgeable keepers who are working on improving the already beautiful landscaping. The rooms are nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. The food and drinks are well prepared by friendly and accommodating people. Everything you want or need is arranged for by the well-organized desk staff, most of whom speak English as well or better than most Canadians. All in all, we had a wo[... read more]nderful time.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Nice resort, great people and beautiful beach
We spent a week in a diamond club jr suite. We were in building 33#307. I would recommend requesting second floor if you like to sit on balcony as 3rd floor rooms have cement walls! Our butler Jose was wonderful and eager to help. Room was cleaned and restocked daily. No hot water or AC issues. It was fairly plain and simple but definitely roomy with lots of cupboard space and a safe. We ate all our meals exclusively at the sanctuary section. They did a lovely job with presentation and the ser[... read more]vice was great. Food choices - on the slim side but ample enough. We enjoyed the lounge at various times every day with their varied entertainment. Some of it was superb actually! Drinks were always great. Pool was lovely and clean. Lots of chairs and cushions if you wanted them. The beach was expansive with lots of chairs. Didn't really understand the way the water sports operated as they appeared to only be available for a short time and then beached. We would go back to this resort!!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Awesome family resort!
A really relaxed vibe on arrival! The staff are very friendly, always smiling. The rooms were generous with space and updated. Grounds are gorgeous and the beach is beautiful. Food is good, great selection. Many pools and water park for the kids. If you like a quiet pool area stick to the one close the main lobby. Would definitely visit again next year.

Memories Jibacoa: Hidden Cuban Jewel
We had a great time! We chose to go to Memories Jibacoa specifically because it is the destination closest to Havana, only a short 45 to 50 minute drive rather than 2 hours from Varadero. We wanted to visit Havana for the first time.
Jibacoa is a lush, tropical location situated at the base of large treed hills. The beach is lovely and while it is not the fine, white sand of Varadero, it is still a clean white beach. Snorkeling is great abounding with colourful fish very close to the shoreli[... read more]ne. We purchased travel snorkel sets in Canada and enjoyed our experience tremendously. Hikes in the hills and in the area were available. There is a small market five minutes walking distance from the hotel which had some of the nicest Cuban souvenirs that we had seen. The evening entertainment was superb. There was little problem getting chairs at both the beach and pool. The pool and two hot tubs were very clean and it was nice not to have the loud, pounding music that you sometimes hear poolside at other resorts. There were plenty of daytime activities for those who were interested, as well as fitness classes, boating etc. The resort is smaller, quiet and adults only. The main building is beautiful and we enjoyed sitting outside for most of our meals.
As always the staff and service was outstanding and you always feel safe. The rooms and facilities were exceptionally clean. Cuba is not the place for foodies, but the food is plentiful and there is enough variety to please most people. You must expect that things in the rooms are not perfect, as resources are not always available. (This is why I did not give food or rooms 5 stars.) However we felt that the Cubans gave us the best that they had!
We took the full day excursion to Havana which culminated in an outdoor show at the Tropicana which we really enjoyed.
We have been to Cuba 6 or 7 times and while we like to try different locations, Memories Jibacoa is our favourite so far!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Nice stay...
Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero is like a little oasis in a busy resort. The rooms are the closest to the beach, which has a section reserved only for guests staying at Sanctuary. The main restaurant is nice and quiet, with very good service and decent food. The pool is nice and quiet compared to the main pool at Grand Memories. The bar is nice and cosy, with good music in the evening. All in all we were very happy that we decided to stay at Sanctuary vs the main resort.

Memories Jibacoa: Very relaxing vacation
This was our sixth time at this resort. We really enjoy the small size of this adult resort. The staff is A one. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The food is good for Cuba. The only thing that we were disappointed about is the fact that now they have introduced the wearing of the plastic bracelets. These are just uncomfortable.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A quiet getaway with all the perks!
We booked this resort on a Monday and left on a Wednesday. We went on the price, adult only, and the area of Cuba.
We arrived after a direct flight with Sun Wing and a 90 minute bus ride from the airport in Santa Clara to the Santa Maria resort area.
We had two personal butlers with a champagne greeting and a cart to the bungalow.
This part of the Grand Memories is under restoration and only 2 bungalows were completed. This did not detour us from booking, as we knew this beforehand.
It[... read more] was very private and very quiet and all the employees looked after our every need!
There is a restaurant called the International that serves a breakfast buffet, omelettes and pancakes cooked for your request. There is fresh orange juice, fruit and pastries. The coffee is Americano or you can request a Cappuccino or coffee of your choice from the bar outside of the restaurant through your server.
The beach is absolutely beautiful with crystal blue water with 7 shades of blue.
There will be someone who will get you your chair under a requested palapa where there is sufficient shade or sun. There is also a grill and bar on the beach where someone will come and take your order. You can also go to the buffet or pool bar for food and drink. The closest washrooms are near the restaurant or pool.
You can walk for miles on the beach. There are catamarans, paddleboats and kayaks for you use at the next resort, Grand Memories at your access.
The International restaurant on the resort is very private and only for the Sanctuary guests where they serve steak and chicken one night and fish, lobster the next night. The servers are very good and willing to get anything that is within their reach in the kitchen. Wine is Chilean and very good.
They serve pizza and other items after 10 p.m.
The entertainment is good with live music in the restaurant until 9:30 with the live show near the pool beginning shortly after until 10 p.m. You can go to the next resort if you want a bigger or longer show at the Grand Memories. There are also bars and other restaurants in that area, too. Your butler can make your reservations at those restaurants, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean.
Money can be exchanged at the bank at the Grand Memories resort at their bank, but employees will accept Canadian and American money for tips. They do expect a tip, but it is always appreciated and their money in CUC is good to have.
There were a few minor issues, but all were resolved quickly and efficiently.
A great value for all those perks! Where else can you go where you get your own personal butler on a daily basis who look after all your needs?
I would highly recommend this resort for anyone who wants a quiet getaway for a week, who loves the beach and an appreciation for a week without a cell and a good book!

Memories Jibacoa: Great resort
This all inclusive resort was an ideal location for us. We liked the laid back quiet atmosphere. We were able to take good walks from the resort because of it's location. The food was very good particularly in the main dining area. One of the a la carte restaurants was disapointing but the other 2 were good. One unfortunate thing was we arrived at 5am and did not get our room until 2pm. Since the weather was bad that day we had to hang around and that was dissapointing .
Other than that t[... read more]he service was good and friendly. Their are several activities which you can take part in such as tennis, yoga Spanish lessons etc so there was lots to do for those who wished.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: We liked the kids waterpark
The kid's waterpark was fantastic for us. My 3 year old son had that most amazing time playing there each morning. We were lucky though that my son fell below the required height to be allow to play on the small slides because a lot of families experience issues - young children (perhaps tall for their age) who were not under 111 cm weren't allowed on the smaller slide and children who were between 111 cm and 119 cm weren't allowed on any slides at all. This is a serious flaw in the resort polic[... read more]ies and needs to be fixed. The flooring around the splash pad is beautiful but very slippery. This also should be fixed as people were getting hurt.
When we arrived, we were disappointed to find out that although we had been informed that we could use all of the amenities of The Royalton, we could actually only use 1 pool, 1 small area on the beach and 2 restaurants, which weren't that great. To ensure that we enjoyed the vacation we thought we had booked, we had to pay $775 CDN for the 4 adults in our group to be able to eat and use the amenities of The Royalton.
Our room at Memories was horrible. We paid for a premium room, close to the waterpark. Our room was far from "premium". Our relatives who did not pay for a premium room, close to the waterpark, had a better room than us and were closer to the waterpark. Our first room had a postage sized balcony with an opening of approximate a foot and a half, which was looking into a bush across the street from a wall. There was no natural sunlight going into the room. We quickly asked to move. Our request was accommodated. The room we were moved to was closer to the waterpark and had a much better balcony however, the room stunk, there were no doors on the closet and the shower leaked. We tried to upgrade to stay at a Royalton room, however, the resort was fully booked and even if it hadn't been booked, we would've had to pay another $775 CDN. Since we didn't want to waste any more of our vacation moving rooms within Memories, we stayed in this room.
The resort activities are posted to the tvs in each room. Since the tv in our room didn't work, this made it very difficult to know what events were scheduled.
The beach is beautiful.
There are a few pools, which was great because it provided variety. Activities at the pool don't start until 3 p.m. which was disappointing.
The Kids Club was ok when the activities in the calendar/schedule weren't cancelled or moved to a location unknown to guests. Parents don't tell your kids about the events in advanced because Kids Club staff often cancelled events without notice. For example, because we had experienced on several occasions that kids events didn't proceed as indicated on the schedule, 30 minutes before the Super Hero party I called the Kids Club to confirm that the party was proceeding as scheduled. I was ensured that the party was taking place 30 minutes later. We waited in the designated location. 15 minutes after the party was to have started, I inquired and was informed that the party had been cancelled.
The staff at the resort were very nice. Knowing Spanish would help considerably.
Although the resort is large, the shuttle busses run every couple of minutes and stop often throughout the resort. The walk from the kids waterpark to The Royalton is nice though. It's like walking through the jungle.
The gym is in The Royalton section. It's small. It was kept very clean.
The nighttime shows were enjoyable. The Michael Jackson show was incredible.
Since we ate and played at The Royalton, I can't provide much further of review of Memories.

Memories Jibacoa: Absolutely Wonderful
Memories Jibacoa is awesome. The Staff there are wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. The food was great, they had cake and sang HB to our friend and made her Birthday so special. The drink selection could have been a bit more but we did just fine with our Pina Coladas, Grass Hoppers and Spanish coffees. Noesky, the Beach server, was right on us for our drinks and he was Awesome.
The Entertainment staff was the Best. The dancers and singers were beautiful. The two best people were Jorge (DJ [... read more]at the disco) and Jorge the Piano Man. Down to earth, helped us out, made the trip that much better. The resort age group was average 45 plus so we felt a little young but definitely age did not stop the party. It was a fabulous group of people and I will definitely be back to this resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Pretty beach but I'd go elsewhere...
I spent a week in early January at the Memories Caribe Beach Resort with a friend – my second trip to Cuba.
The good included the rooms, the pools and the pizza in the snack restaurant near the pool (plus the pasta bar in the buffet). The beach was beautiful but had biting bugs that Off didn’t seem to repel – we ended up not going there much after the first couple days to avoid getting bitten. The bad included in general the food (the a la carte restaurants are NOT worth reserving), and[... read more] the day outing we went on (we had a really bad experience at the dolphin swim; the promised luxury buffet was basic and lousy, and several other things were not as promised). Too, Cuba has a reputation for having real nice people and we ran into several outright rude people working at the resort and for the Sunwing tour. Finally, the return trip was badly organized – little indication as to the bus to get onto go to the airport, what line to stand in, paying for upgrades seats (credit cards not accepted), etc. Bottom line: we are two younger women and I enjoyed more my last trip to the Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca – better varied food and a better atmosphere for us, despite being lower rated and cheaper. And, if we can afford it, in the future we’ll opt for Mexico instead…
