Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Great resort

This is the 3rd time we've come to the Valentin, we really like this resort. Grounds are well kept, and it's great they are adding new things, last time we were here was in 2018, the coffee house and the food trucks are new since then, they are a great add, The internet was a bit spotty, one of our friends kept loosing connection throughout the day, which is an issue since you need to access it for our phones for the restaurant menus. There was maid service through the day where the room was restocked and during turndown at night, the room was straighten up and towels were replenished. All staff, front desk, restaurant, bar, pool service were very polite and courteous, could not ask for more!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: great spot

The rooms are tired, the beds are way too small if you don't get a king. The food was really, really good! Everything was clean, the pool areas well kept. The villas are well spaced, so you have to be okay to walk, although the trolleys come regularly. Overall, I would recommend this resort.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Great resort!!!

There were many pros & few cons to this resort. PROS: Beautiful & clean, beautiful decor, very friendly staff, very large resort and many areas to explore, mall to do some shopping, double decker bus to take you around the resort, great pools, amazing restaurants with great food. CONS: Dolphin enclosure (animal cruelty), no bar in the main lobby to sit & socialize, poor night entertainment/shows, Playa del Carmen and Cancun are a bit far

Allegro Playacar: A week at Alegro

We were disappointed with the fact that the air conditioning did not work properly in quite a few rooms. No hot water for showers most of the week. No water at all one day , toilets didn’t flush…in all public washrooms most toilets were broken or non flushing. Food was good. A la carte restaurants were impossible to reserve. Each room had to line up at 10am to reserve and could not be done in advance. They couldn’t accommodate most people.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Beautiful

Staff was helpful, room was small, but cleaned well. Buffet was decent, a-la carte restaurants were amazing! Drinks flowed strong and yummy. We had a fantastic time. Only thing I'd change is activities are not posted resort to resort so we missed out on some of the fun stuff and there is a shopping area we did not know about until just before we left. But other than that, it was awesome!!

Grand Riviera Princess: Très beau resort

Ma chambre ( villa LAGUNA) était superbe et propre dans la section 18+, notre coin piscine avec palapa bed et service de major d’homme était magnifique. Celui-ci s’est occupé de mes réservations de restaurant et spa. Point de vue animation, c’était un peu trop tôt 20h30 et j’ai déjà vu mieux. La nourriture était très bien autant resto que buffet. Plage, beaucoup d’algues et de roches.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Excellent Resort

We have been to this resort 4 times, and it has never disappointed us. The staff work so hard keeping it very clean and servicing guests. Their cleanliness and food choices is why we’ve been so many times. We also took 6 other adults with us Jan.23-Feb.2/2023 and they loved it as well. This resort does not disappoint!

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Awesome hotel BUT

We had an amazing time at Paradisus La Perla. The resort is just the right size. The rooms were amazing. The buffets were a bit small and diversity was lacking a bit, but the many À la carte made up for it. Nightly entertainement was just enough, but we were disappointed to find our everything was closed after 1AM. The sales team has an agressive way of promoting their membership programs, which impacted the service we received; amazing at first but decreased once we decided not to enroll in th [... read more]eir Circles program. After that every nice gestures from the hotel staff felt like a scam, or a way to get us to spend membership points or enroll, which was a bit unfortunate. Would still definitely go back. Proximity to Playa Del Carmen cit center was a big plus

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Overnight Partying Ruined Experience

The all night partying which was accompanied by extremely loud music ruined our stay. As our 8 year old said, “it felt like the bed was bouncing”. The phone at the front desk was never answered. Some of the rooms are in very poor condition.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing vacation!!

What an amazing time we had at Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya!! Food was great, room was very nice, pool for everyone (quiet, party, activities…), fun time at the lazy river, learned about dolphins… was there for a week and everything was simply great! Felt safe, clean and staff were great!

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Amazing trip!

We just spent a fabulous week at the Barcelo Maya Tropical hotel. This was our second time staying at this resort (2019) so we knew what to expect. The first time we stayed was for a destination wedding without our kids, this time we brought our two daughters 6 and 10. We opted for an oceanfront suite at the premium level, I highly recommend the premium upgrade. The resort is very well kept and staff is always ready to accommodate. Food was always fantastic, my only issue would be an extra charge for real red wine(there is a house red wine included in all inclusive). Kids loved the water park, pools, beach, and kids club. The nightly entertainment for us started a little late (usually 930pm) but is well put together shows. Really the only negative thing I can say about Barcelo is the extra charges for certain things at an all inclusive. These include real wine, larger water park, bowling, merry go round, x box on large screen for example...I feel these all should be included in the all inclusive, that's my take. Overall fantastic resort, fantastic trip. Highly recommend.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Amazing trip

We had a wonderful time! The room was big and great, the food excellent( a great buffet, and the brazilian restaurant was amazing. We loved the dolphins show and everybody was there to help us if we needed it. The beach was also great. So I you see we enjoyed all our stay. Thanks

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fabulous Mega Resort

The Barcelo Maya Beach Resort and surrounding properties were phenomenal! They were clean, well maintained, offered beautiful gardens, mature trees, fabulous swimming pools, a wonderful selection of restaurants & buffets and plenty of lounge chairs. The beach was beautiful, but some parts were a bit rocky. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure guests had a great experience. As our group was travelling with a young child & infant, we had to be very well organized ge [... read more]tting out of our rooms in the morning, as the property was so large it would take us 10-12 minutes to walk from our rooms to the pool/beach. We were always able to get a highchair for the baby, but many times, it did not include a tray table. Despite putting in a request for a crib 7 weeks in advance of our arrival, our room did not have a crib when we arrived. Finally, we found the 40 minute wait going through customs, the 45 minute wait on the shuttle bus and 1 hour drive from the airport to the hotel a bit tiresome with small children, particularly after a 4.5 hour flight and 3 hours in the TO airport prior to boarding.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: shallow, rocky beach

After 10 hrs journey from Montreal, arrived late in the evening where 2 employee at the reception desk were ignoring lineup for some time, then started slowly to process "customers". Didn't really feel like customer or welcome by attitude of those 2.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good Resort

This Resort is very large a lot of walking unless you wait for the shuttle. Pools are very nice But the Beach needs work. Had very good service and very good food wile we were there. We would go back.

The Sens Riviera: Great resort

The resort was great. The rooms were a little dated and could have used shower curtains and a curtain on the bathroom window. People that don't want to see a local waiter's face, but have no issue with seeing a fellow guest's (coming from potentially anywhere in the world), should probably not travel.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: 2nd Visit. Still good but needs some work

This was our 2nd visit to this resort. First was 3 years ago. All in all we had an amazing time but I now see for myself what the negative reviews were all about. We travel a lot and tend to roll with whatever we are dealt. Nothing ruined our vacation but there were enough, let's call them annoyances, that we likely won't return to this resort unless they seriously complete some updates to this property. Food: Overall food was amazing. - Breakfast Buffet = exc [... read more]ellent - Lunch Buffet was great - Poolside taco/burrito grill was amazing - Beachside Grill also amazing!! - Dinner Buffet was so so. - A la carte restaurants... Rodeo Grill was amazing and was our favourite, the other à la carte were good too but nothing that was really outstanding. Since we had access to the à la cartes of the entire resort, we tried the French restaurant, 3 of our 4 meals were great, one was overcooked and burnt. Mexican Theme Night: This was disappointing. We've been to many resorts in Mexico and typically this is an amazing night with lots of traditional food and entertainment offered. Their version was a small food cart and a few games in the courtyard. The food was amazing, I just wish they made this a bigger feature night. Room service: Service was very quick but food was cold. Rooms: Our room was in building 2. It had mold between the glass enclosure surrounding the tub, the door, door frames and closet doors were starting to breakdown from the bottom up (likely due to humidity). We had no water pressure (couldn't even get toothpaste off our toothbrush). The bed was also broken. We immediately requested a new room. Front desk sent us to the concierge, concierge told us to check back the next day. Ultimately, we were sent back to the front desk and got a new room 3 days later. They didn't seem overly eager to comply with our request but eventually did (maybe because we asked for an update twice a day)? Housekeeping: Our room was cleaned everyday but it took 3 days to get a bar of soap and facecloths. Toilet paper was not replaced and we had to chase down the maid to get some. Pool towels: They changed the rules on this, you no longer get your own. You have to request a new towel through housekeeping. I understand that they are trying to get you to reuse your towels but if you NEED a new one, good luck! It takes forever or persistent calling. Concierge: EVERY request goes through the concierge, even housekeeping or room service. They record the request then submit it to the correct department. There are only 2 people at the desk (often only one). The phone sometimes goes unanswered. If you need something you have to keep calling or just walk to them and wait in line. Bell boys = amazing, always smiling and ready to help. Front desk staff = don't seem as excited to be working or wanting to hear your request Bartenders and waitstaff = wow...hard workers! They hustle and get you whatever you need/want. Grounds = Stunning. Beach: Beach that belongs to this section of the hotel is quite eroded. To the left (where the luxury hotels are) is a beautiful stretch of beach. To the right toward the remainder of the Princess property, the beach is bigger, has volleyball but is quite busy. Pool: The main pool is kept clean and seems to have enough seats. It is the party pool though so if you are not into that, then there is another quieter pool by the buffet. We didn't mind the party pool BUT... that said, the music is REALLY loud. Once the "party" starts, you'll find yourself yelling to speak to the person 1 foot in front of you. I like music but we found that a little too loud. Poolside bathrooms: Absolutely disgusting. Also not enough stalls considering the number of people by the pool. Bathrooms often not working, not cleaned, no soap, no paper towels, garbage full. We brought this to the attention of the concierge but nothing was ever done over the 11 days we were there. Pool deck: Concrete surface is starting to erode. Walking barefoot from your chair to the pool is like walking on loose stones. Bridges over mangroves: Watch your step. Some boards starting to rot. They have started to fix these however. This is a 5 star rated property. Until they correct some of these issues, I would not rate this 5 star anymore. Hope this helps.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort.

This a very large resort. We were oceanfront in building 68. We were next to the adults only pool and breakfast buffet. We were here for 14 nights and had a different a la carte restaurant dinner every night at all 4 resorts. When you download the Bahia Principe app you can make all your reservations. There is a shuttle service every few minutes to get you around. It is very clean and housekeeping comes everyday. The bathroom has pump bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and Shea butter lo [... read more]tion. Plus a hair dryer. Bring a extension cord as there are not many outlets for charging devices. Bring water shoes as there are some rocks when getting in the ocean, also a snorkel and mask to see all the fish. It is a great resort and is worth the 1 1/2 hour drive to get there. We will definitely be back.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Average not a 5 star or even a 4 dtar

The hotel is very outdated, the food is mediocre not a lot of vegetarian options everything is mixed up with meat, u would think being in Mexico you would find good tacos but none, not a lot of seafood either. They tell you that you can use other barcelo resort but once you are there you have to pay extra to eat in the others. Only 4 a la carte but none available for booking. I would not go back there. The beach is very rocky and will hurt you feet.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Quite the resort!!

We had an amazing time at the resort, lots to do, amazing pools, bars, buffets you can't go wrong. Rooms were clean, staff amazing as well, we would go back! Having access to 5 hotels, and a double decker bus to drive us from resort to resort or walk the long private beach at your leisure.
