Everything was wonderful. Beautiful location, resort, people, food at Royale restaurant was wonderful as is their staff who work very hard and help each other. Only issue would be their check in/out needs to he improve d. We waited a couple of hours to get our room and in the heat with Jean's on it was quite hot. Even if their was a "changing station".

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Fantastic Resort!
A beautiful and clean resort full of friendly, warm, welcoming staff.
Food was great! Both the buffet and a la carte restaurants had lots of variety and options for everyone.
Excellent family atmosphere, the pools, beach and lazy river were lots of fun for all.
Rooms were gorgeous, clean, comfortable - the jacuzzi and the rain shower were amazing after a day in the sun.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Great resort!
Mostly everything was great about this resort. Well kept grounds and buildings, beautiful scenery and landscaping, and easy access to most things! I was not really impressed by the main buffet closed for lunch, but there were other options so it really was fine. The food options available at the buffet were better than the 3 restaurants I tried, but all still a fun experience. All drinks available were good too. I’m not really a beer drinker but Dos Equis is not the best, amber was ok. I will [... read more]say I really wish they had ginger ale. My room was always cleaned nicely when the do not disturb sign was up and that was always nice to come back to. The rooms had very minimal power outlets which was really weird, bring a power bar maybe?

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun: None Diamond Club
Our vacation was fun but if I had to do it again I would not go to the same resort. Food variety is poor. They did not even have hot chocolate because they had no chocolate powder 5 days out of 7. No Ice cream most of the days at the buffet. No tropical drinks or anything to do with fruits. No hot tub and if you want anything that can be close to hot water ,not hot, you have to pay $150 for a warm little pool. Even though You paid for the hotel you are not allow to enjoy the entire hotel becau[... read more]se you cannot access the whole resort as a “diamond club†option make you and your family feel like a second class citizen.
Most staff was still very friend and the service was good. Watch out of the rooms with a very intense smell. Make sure to switch right away although they might give you the run around. That awful smell won’t go away.
Trip Central was amazing to deal with and will be booking my trips with them in the future.
Cancun was fun and if you have the time do the catamaran tour.. WOW!

We loved this hotel! The room was big bright and comfortable! Bed was comfortable! Food was good! Service was great! Drinks were great! We will definitely go back! There is no beach access but great close view of ocean with beds chairs in sand. This hotel is nice and small so it’s quiet. Very to little entertainment but if u like quiet this is your resort!

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Nice resort , beach was just ok
The hotel was very clean, however we were disappointed with the beach because we did not have access to the water in our section . The water and the beach sand was separated with a 2-ft concrete wall. We had to walk further out to have access to the water. The hotel and the grounds were great! I would only recommend this hotel if the beach was not an important factor.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Better than expected!
After reading the negative reviews for Bluebay I was not expecting much and we were surprised by how great it was. I was there 6 years ago and loved it then and it's still good but just a little older. It would probably be considered a 3 1/2 - 4 star as there were a couple things that needed attention but the negative people must have been expecting 5 star or have attitude. This is a cheaper resort than most and you get good value. It wasn't at full capacity when I was there last week so can'[... read more]t comment on when it's really busy.
Beach-I would say 3 out of 5 only because the water is murky right in front on the resort. The beach itself is beautiful with lots of loungers. I was expecting broken loungers but I didn't see any (just the odd back adjustment didn't work). If you walk 10 min to the left there is a beautiful cenote with the clearest water to swim in. Walk next door to the right and there is clear water unless it is windy when everywhere is murky and wavey. It is a great walking beach as you can go forever to the right. The seaweed is cleaned every day by the resort.
Food-Amazing!!! This place has the best food I have ever had at any resort and I've been to many. It does change up for lunch and supper. I don't eat much meat at home but somehow I love the seafood, chicken, beef, and pork while I'm there. It is more tasty here. Everyone I talked to had the same thought so again I'm not sure why the negative comments. Constant refills to our drinks and emptying plates as we ate.Constantly refilling the trays and kept hot at the buffet. We did the seafood restaurant and was just okay in my books. The Italian one was better as it had an antipasto/salad bar which we loved and I had the free beef option which was melt in your mouth.
Staff-can't say enough about them. We were treated like royalty from every single person we encountered. They have a huge staff.. Checkin and out were flawless.
Drinks-great. They were good and lots of options.
Smell-where is this sewage smell I read about? We smelt it lightly in one spot along the path to the beach but no where else. The rooms can smell a little musty when first entering but that is hard to beat in such a humid environment.
Rooms-Same rooms. Could be updated but everything worked, hot water and nothing looked like it needed repair. The bar fridge was restocked daily. The toiletries were plentiful.
Landscaping-beautiful. All plants were kept up and the walk from the lobby area to the beach area was so nice with lights along it, stamped concrete wide path. They were painting
Pools-Huge clean beautiful clear pools. You had to get there by 10:00 to get a lounger if you wanted to lay right by the pool but there were people leaving if you watched for it. Easier to get a spot by the quieter pool by the lobby. Nice loungers that all seemed to work that we saw. We saw a big party in the pools by the beach on Friday afternoon with music and bubbles and it was entertaining to watch the young people having so much fun.
Entertainment-Each night had a family show at 9:30 and sometimes live music before and after also in the black and white bar. Sometimes it said Karaoke but there was a show instead. The performers were all good.
Carts-we didn't have any problem getting rides with our luggage and sometimes they stopped and asked if we wanted a ride which we said no because we aren't lazy and enjoyed the beautiful walks around the resort.
Hope this helps you decide to go and you will have a great time if you don't expect 5 star for a 3 star price. Also if you are a young person looking for a fun nightlife place this might not be the place for you.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: great resort
The resort was nice , very clean . The rooms very dated ,, and certainly not 5 star quality , and the walls seemed paper thin . we heard everything from people being sick, to curtains closing . service was excellent , great hard working staff . The Tropical drinks were too sweet , very syrupy . and watered down , you're a 5 star resort use real fruit in those drinks . The food was good in the buffet , and excellent in the specialty restaurants

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: A unique resort
This resort is a very unique experience, lots to do, so much to see. Great for all ages and many food options to choose from. Don't believe the negative reviews. We have been there five times and would still return for the jungle like experience. Some things are not as nice as it use to be, staff shortages and line ups for the restaurants. Hanging out with the monkeys is an experience that you can't get at other resorts

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful resort but lacking in nightlife
Resort was big, well kept, rooms spacious and great king size bed. Not beachfront but easily walkable. The beach (for Coba, as it is shared with sister resorts) is lacking. No food, no bathrooms, need water shoes to enter the ocean. The pools are great with swim up bars. Pretty quiet resort after 9pm.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fantastic Resort!
The Barcelo Riviera Maya is one of the nicest resorts I have ever stayed at. It was affordable and has so much to do within the resort. The property is massive. The decor was absolutely beautiful. Its was spotless, up to date and impeccably well maintained. They have mini golf, you could watch dolfins play all day, basket ball, tennis, pickle ball, kayak just to name a few - all free. There are 6 resorts within and we stayed at the Colonial. My opinion was this was the best location for beach[... read more] and food among the four inner resorts. Hotel staff were so nice and very kind. Food is good, I found they provided such a huge selection to fancy everyone's taste and was always available up into the late hours in the eve. The beach was well groomed and had wonderful sun and shade options. Pools were fun and there were many, swim up bars were great. I never felt crowded.
My only critiques would be that because it's such a large place, I think they should provide an orientation of the resort rather than leaving it to us to seek out. Also, there should be more signs within the resort directing to wheee things are as we were lost for a frew days lol.. They could also provide more bar staff as they were the most busy.
I would recommend this resort to everyone. If we visit Playa del Carmen again, we will be back.

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Exceptional Food Selection & Presentation
The resort is in need of some updating. The rooms are spacious but tired. The bathtub was in need of repair and there were areas where paint was peeling on the windowsill. The linen should be replaced....no longer white, definitely not fluffy and very worn.
Beach and pools excellent.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing resort with fabulous staff!
We loved everything about this property and would highly recommend it to couples, families, and friends. Being able to eat at a specialty restaurant every night instead of the buffet was wonderful. It was also great to be able to visit and use all amenities at the other Bahia properties in the complex during our stay. The various beaches, pools, entertainment, and staff made this one of our top vacations ever. Can’t wait to return!

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Solid 4 star
The hotel was exactly as expected, 4 star.
The food at the buffet was decent, they were always refilling stations, so sometimes you did have to wait for bacon, veggies or chicken, but they always brought more.
There are 2 egg stations for breakfast, one more geared for omelettes, but they still made me eggs if they were less busy than the other.
Lunch and dinner they had a meat station, which was very basic but many sauces to pair at the other stations. There was no pasta station, wh[... read more]ich is a first in my experience but they did have pasta dishes. I do wish they had a pasta station, so it would be fresh.
The snack bar was always delicious. Burgers were good and the chips and guacamole delicious. There was also Chicken wings, hotdogs and other traditionally "American" food.
The hotdog stand we had once and it was good, then was out of commission for the week, so they had a taco stand which was way better.
The Crepe stand also had milkshakes and ice cream cones, which was a great addition. The crepes were okay, in my opinion.
Getting a reservation to the restaurants was difficult, we were lucky to get into the Italian and Japanese. Both were okay, the "Japenese" teppanyaki show was not as exciting as I have seen at other resorts or even at locations in Whistler or Toronto. It is more mixed "Asian food" than Japanese.
We had the upgraded PRIVILEGE status and luckily paid very little to add it to our package, as the cost was worth it, but I wouldn’t pay the $50 per day I heard others paid at the front desk. We were to get a king bed, as a couple on our honeymoon, but ended up with two queen beds.
The Bloved restaurant was good, but the same menu daily, it would be better if it was rotational. If you didn’t get a reservation to another restaurant you had other options to chose from.
The "privileged" pool area was more quiet, but it wasn’t monitored so there were regular wrist band people at the pool.
Not something I cared about, as I was always able to get chairs. Others were concerned as they had paid and couldn’t get what they paid for.
The privilege beach, is quiet, but unfortunately on the lagoon side, so the water was not as clear and a little on the green side.
The entertainment shows were the best I’ve seen for theatre, but didn’t have as many acrobatics as I’ve seen at other hotels.
Usually they have aerial silk performances and fire shows on the beach. That would be a great addition, a fire show or similar performances on the beach one night.
After the show, there is also no other form of entertainment, except the late night disco, which is not for everyone.
It would be nice if they kept another bar opened even until midnight with live music, but I understand difficult with the rooms so close.
Overall, the drinks were made pretty well. Mojitos were the best. They will ask you how strong you want them made and they are pretty good at remembering your face/drink preferences!
Caesar at the Japanese restaurant was an outstanding host, and the bartender there was outstanding.
Joel at Italian was wonderful, super friendly.
Arturo was the best entertainment staff. He was so fun and funny. He was Cogsworth and Flounder in the Disney show, it was the best!
The Moana show was really well done, the best of the week!
Most of the staff speak little to no English, which made it difficult at times, but we did google translate, as needed.
The spring coil mattresses were not very comfortable or supportive.
The room we had was nicely renovated and the shower was good.
The room cleaning services were always great, they left us enough towels, water and many soaps.
The Room Service we received was also decent, great chicken sandwich.
The resort had many things for children to do, definitely more family oriented.
I also recommend bringing water shoes as the beach is pretty rocky.
The wifi connection around the resort was amazing and allowed us to stay in contact with family back home.
We were in a safe gated community and a 500m walk to the Marina and Dolphin Cove. The return trip around the marina is about 2.5 kms. Many people also rented golf carts to drive around. Definitely worth a visit.
We also walked around to see the privately owned houses within the gated community. It felt safe, even at night, and everyone was very friendly.
Overall, we had a great time and would go back.
