Muthu Playa Varadero: Not good

This was the worst resort in all my years travelling to Cuba. First they booked my sister into a room that was deplorable room 2006 they moved her then I arrived they booked me in the same room safe off the wall and no door lol. No beer in your room towels are non existent no hot water for three days the grounds are lacking attendance the burgers are hit and miss I had one exploded on me from not being cooked. Melia Internacional: best in varadero

a north american style hotel with cuban cost. easy to get around, clean pool and buffet with something for everyone. short walking distance to town. great service and drinks. a pleasant surprise in an otherwise iffy country

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Not a 5 star by any standards

Grounds clean and well kept Food is best we've had in Cuba Workers do the best they can and truly make a big difference. Friendly and work very hard Towels are rare as is toilet paper Beds are hard and thin. Linens not so clean. Pillows are pancakes

Starfish Jibacoa: Love it

Love this resort it's our 5th time there beautiful beach and nice and quiet. Food is Cuba so go in with realistic expectations I always found something to eat. Rooms were clean but if going definitely get a villa as opposed to a room

Hotel Bella Costa: Only place in Cuba I’ll stay at.

I’ll start with the food. It’s the number one reason this we stay this resort. For Cuba, that is hard find. Next is the staff. Always eager to meet your needs.😃 smiling and treating me like family. I always stay in the villas, so I don’t know what the rooms are like? The furthest villas are not very good, do to loud noise from service equipment and the views are not good. Not all days were tanning days, but all days were good days! I like the wide range of costumer ages and places of origin . We all seem to be there for the same reason. My next visit will be longer!!!

Villa Tortuga: Mérite à peine une étoile

Buffet peu varié et pas très bon dans son entier. Vous devrez manger à l extérieur pour bien manger de temps en temps. Je ne recommanderais jamais cet hôtel. Belle plage , gens sympatique, pietre qualité des chambres et matelas de 1980.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Ok Resort

Rooms were very clean!. Food was simply okay though, not enough choices. Staff was awesome!! Always a smile on their face and really welcoming. Entertainment was all right. But maybe they should think about adding diversity for some evening (standup comedy show, magic etc.) . It was really a lot of dance choreography.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great Experience

It was my fiancé’s first time visiting Cuba and this resort impressed us with their food, (especially the Italian a la carte), nightly entertainment and live music. Would recommend for families and retired couples.

Playa Vista Azul: Worst experience ever

Absolutely disappointed with our stay. Rooms were typical although we had dirty used soap and towels were sparse. Pool was ok but the large bed loungers were broken or filthy and smelled disgusting. Two very small beach areas with not enough lounge chairs crammed together with other resorts. Beaches were rocky and had lots of coral and shells making it very difficult to walk on and get in the water. Absolutely the worst food ever with the same items being served each day. Long line ups due to poor staffing in the snack bars. Waited over an hour for a hotdog. We are by no means picky but finding something to eat that was enjoyable was a struggle even their fruits and fresh juices smelled rotten. Alcoholic drinks were hit or miss with not as much of a selection as other resorts. Staff didn’t go out of their way to help and weren’t all that friendly. Definitely should not be rated as a 5 star, a low 3 is being generous. Very over priced resort without the 5 star amenities!!!!

Melia Varadero: Close but no cigar

my father and I stayed at this resort and I hoped for a bit more. I keep in mind that Cuba is not Vegas but there were small things that were definitely lacking. Overall we were pleased but small things could have made this stay better. The cheapest plastic cups. A swim up bar 2m away from service. No hot tub. 24 hour bar food was not good. The hotel also lacked ambience. Past 11 you might as well go to bed. Nothing at all to do

Grand Memories Varadero: Terrible Resort

First time to Cuba, and will never go back. The resort was dirty and not maintained. The service was terrible, no one would acknowledge you or even say hello. The rooms were decently clean but there was no hot water & you couldn’t get fresh towels/ or sheets. The alcohol was limited & zero ice. The buffet food was disgusting, the served the same food everyday. The disco was only open from 11:00-1:00. 24HR snack bar was limited to 1 sandwich and it took more then 45 minutes to get served. Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing Beach

We are bringing back the beach with us. How wonderful to see your toes in the water up to your shoulders. Aqua water with white sand. ❤️❤️❤️ The food is ok but over expect. The staff is excellent don’t forget to tip 😉

Sol Varadero Beach: Mostly great

The renovated resort is very clean and the rooms are lovely. We were upgraded to the Superior building, because we were return guests. Had an issue with a smell in the room the first two nights, and was told by reception that the hotel was full and to keep coming back to check in the afternoon. I went searching for the Tour operator rep to see if she could help, and ironically ran into the Customer Service Manager, and she was the absolute best, and had a new room for us that afternoon!  [... read more]The staff are extremely friendly, and work long hours, but still show up with a smile each and every day. The buffet was a little better than average for Cuba, but expect the normal issues of repetition, and running out of items. The ala cartes were good, our fav was the Italian. The beach is beautiful as always, with lots of palapas for shade, but no shade at the pool at all. The entertainment was excellent, each night performances in different areas of the resort, which we found refreshing over the typical shows experienced in all inclusive before. I would def recommend this resort. As long as you are aware of the common issues Cuba experiences with getting supplies, and controls by the government, which are usually beyond the control of resort management, you will not be disappointed.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Amazing beaches, water and even resort.

The rooms are OK (included bathrooms in room, not outside). People are nice, the food was good (we didn't go in mod special for food!). I can't say something wrong about the resort, but we were in Havana (nice city etc), but will be good if you don't need to go at washroom.

Muthu Playa Varadero: 3 star not 4

The food was pretty awful, not much variation. Same food at all meals. Service pretty slow. Many of the rooms had mould around the air conditionner and doors. Beach is nice, however no beach bar or bathrooms super close. No pool bar. I would say this resort is more a 3 star, and would be a decent resort if gotten for a good price, under 1000$. Definitely not worth it for more then that

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Hotel in need of serious upgrades

This hotel wasn’t great. It was clean, staff were friendly, and beautiful oceanfront, but everything else was lacking. Pool is only open until 6pm, rooms are basic and in need of upgrades. The shower flooded every time it was used (less than 5 minutes) and we had to call several times to get the issue addressed. All of the other members of our groups experienced issues with their rooms as well. The food was horrible even by Cuban standards. Would not be going back.

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Occidental arenas blancas

Good set up although personel at reception desk were rude most of the time except at the day of arrival. . Service and food average and again missing wine for 4 days. Shows were good with great dancers. Advertised as a 4.5 stars at booking but to me only a 3 stars.. Olkis at the supper diningroom was the most helpful waiter to guide us and answer all our questions of all the rest of the staff! Loved Varadero Cuba but will not go to this resort and will choose a 5 stars resort for sure.

Grand Memories Varadero: Below average

The grounds of the resort are well maintained and nice considering it is quite large. This is the first warning for elderly or people with young kids. Resort is huge. From standard room section to beach is roughly 15 minute walk. They have lots of trolleys but only guests checking in/ out get rides so you will be walking- a lot! Beach is beautiful with lots of chairs but whereas most resorts use the beach chairs with the blue fabric this resort uses the more standard wal mart style with the pla [... read more]stic slats. Not that other guests always respect this, I’d still recommend getting to the beach to reserve chairs around 0530/0600 as premium seating areas are full by 7am. The only beach bar is not on the beach but the pathway down to the beach and there are no close washrooms. Because of this seating near the path is at a premium and you could end up walking 15 minutes + for drinks or washroom. The pools are nice but again premium seating and unlike beach there are not enough chairs so a lot of people laid their towels on the grass. Rooms themselves are gross. Our group had rooms from each of the available options and basically all the same room. Patio doors are difficult to open at best. Furniture in our room was about five years past it’s life expectancy with broken doors, handles etc. sometimes lights were dim, sometimes bright. All five rooms we had had toilet seats, yet none were attached to toilet- try that after a day of booze! Broken tiles throughout the rooms, A/C is a joke. Once we were able to force open our closet doors we did find that the safe worked fined despite the broken handle and display on it. All rooms were dirty when we got them but if you tip the staff well they’ll at least mop and make the bed. Due to national shortages of soap our sheets were not changed for the week, toilets not scrubbed and clean towels only show up with tips. Mini fridges have similar issues. Shortages of beer mean without tipping the staff so they get to know you your fridge will likely only get one beer, one pop and one water per day. None of our group tried the al la cartes but from what we were told they are similar quality to the buffet, snack bar and bbq restaurant. I could go on and on about how trays of meat, cheese, shrimp, etc are left out on counters from breakfast to dinner then the same trays are topped up and put out again the next day (we marked them to verify this) or how the cooked and raw chicken breasts and wings are mixed together on the bbq leading to many people being served raw chicken but I think the best way to sum up the food is we made plates for the stray dogs and not one would eat the food. Overall it seems management are trying to bring this resort back to where it should be by having staff renovate rooms, paint buildings, repair/ replace broken everythings but they are dramatically understaff for the amount of work and are renovating rooms one at a time when they need to shut down a building at a time at the very least. A building next to us had guests (Staying in rooms above the construction rooms and crews worked from 6am to 10pm daily.) Overall thoughts- if we were give a free week to this resort we’d decline.

Muthu Playa Varadero: Good food, hotel needs upgrades

Second time at this resort. Positives: The food was good (both times), one of the best in my 10 Cuban vacations. The staff were up there too. Beach is beautiful, like all Cuban beaches, zero complaints. Negatives: The hotel needs some upgrades, and some cleaning in the main floor hallways; we also had nightly cockroaches in our room. No pool bar.

Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus Varadero Resort - 4 1/2 Stars it is NOT

Paradisus Varadero, Cuba is a nice hotel in general but it is far from being a 4 1/2 star category given to it by many sites. It's more like 4 stars and even 3 1/2 in many aspects. The location and beach with its swaying coconut palms right on the white sandy beach is a lovely sight and to be cherished. It does not get more beautiful than this. Our disappointment started upon arrival. We arrived at the hotel at 2 pm but reception did not give us our 2 rooms until past 5 pm because they were not  [... read more]ready! Granted the resort is huge and spread out but management should hire more house-keeping staff. Finally, when we got the rooms they did not have any smaller towels and we had to ask for them. The tiles were cracked and most locks in the resort did not work - especially most annoying were non-functioning locks in the public toilets around the resort. Faucets to wash sand off feet did not work. There were no more beach towels left after 12.30 pm !! Food was OK but extremely bland - there is enough variety in the buffets to satisfy almost everyone but by the same token because they have so much variety they could easily make some dishes a bit spicier. Their salt is bitter IF it came out of sprinkler in the first place. We didn't understand why they don't use iodized salt which runs freely even in humid countries. The beer is good, but liquors were terrible.The staff and all waiters were great and very friendly.. 5 stars for the beach, most waiters and housekeeping. Cashiers exchanging money were very unfriendly and rude. The dining room is new and has a great view of the beach. The resort is TOO BIG TO RUN EFFICIENTLY UNLESS MORE STAFF IS HIRED. LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THE EVENING SHOWS ON A FAIRLY BIG STAGE WERE FANTASTIC - 5 * STAR
