Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Needs some improvements!
Great service in most areas. Beach was not always cleaned, water very rough. Restaurants need some attention, did not meet a 5 star rating in our opinion. Food was not always hot and very repetitive. Make sure you book a room in the new section as section 5000 rooms are very musty and damp.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Beautiful place!
We stayed as a couple from Feb 23 to March 2 on the El Beso Side of the resort. This place is very very nice, this was our second time in Punta Cana and it did not disapoint. We stayed in building 17 swim up room and it was fabulous. Sunshine all day! Room are very nice, bed & pillows very comfortable. Our room was very clean. The food was also the best we have had so far in an all inclusive resort. The beach was nice but the water was rough most days but still nice. We mostly enjoyed our swim u[... read more]p pool room. I really dont have much negative to say except for maybe seeing people searching for pool chairs but this was not an issue for us with the swim up room. The online app to book a la carte was a little tricky but most nights you could walk up to the restaurants and they took us without reservation. Overall fabulous place and I would definitely return.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Great resort!
Very very nice, extremely clean, friendly staff in all respects. Just not a fan of pressuring vendors a few nights a week. We will recommend family and friends, hopefully too to travel with as well. Great location with workers always cleaning the beach! Amazing!

Impressive Punta Cana: Beautiful resort.
The grounds are well kept and very tropical. Impressive Premium was worth the upgrade. Butlers and bartenders were great. Restaurants were great. Buffet was not as good as the restaurants. Food was not that hot.

Ocean El Faro: Buyer beware
From the minter got there the service, people’s attitude were red flags to us. Be aware of the imitation cigars (not what they say they are) and jewelry that they claim is worth hundreds of US $$. Service to get our bags to the room over 1 hour. Restaurants hit and miss. Your food might be cooked?? Get up at 5 am to reserve your pool chairs and then again line up at 7 am to reserve the Sukura restaurant if you want to eat there before you leave.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly
Lets start with The Ugly, and there is only 1 but its huge. They WATERED the liquor down. At my age I know the taste and effect of it and I can say with authority is was about 50% (20% alcohol by volume) of what was stated on the label. I am primarily a beer/wine drinker so when I go 2 fisting it from noon till 10 and go back to my room sober that pretty much says it all. This was not the case last year when I was at the same resort and don't know why it was this year.
The Bad - not much real[... read more]ly. A bit short staffed by my estimation. The Sports bar didn't open until 6:30 PM despite the Grapefruit League games playing at 2 PM (Jays) each day and there's enough Dominican representation on the team is should be a natural. Its also the only AC'd place you can get a drink during the day if you want out of the heat.
The Good - Lots, awesome staff as always, any small issue with the room fixed immediately. The buffet was good with lots of options and different theme nights. Grounds and beach immaculate as always. I'd go back in a heartbeat but not if they are watering the alcohol.

Occidental Caribe: Not a great experience
The hotel rooms are outdated in need of a renovation. Public areas are nice enough, but the furniture is in need of repair or replacement. Lots of broken chairs.. Pool is lovely, beach is excellent.
Customer service at this hotel was horrible. We were were supposed to arrive in the evening, but due to a flight delay we did not arrive until the next morning at 1030am and were not allowed to check in until 3pm (their normal check in time) . Their guest services could barely speak English a[... read more]nd were seemingly there to help only with dinner reservations in their specialty restaurants. We were supposed to have 4 reservations included in our package and were only able to obtain one reservation. The restaurant was only half full, I assume this was the case for the rest of them as well.
Food was ok, not great, not bad.
Bar service was excellent from the bar to the servers bringing drinks to our table/poolside. Tip these people please - they deserve it.
We did find one large cockroach in our room. Only once, but it should be mentioned.
The package we booked should have included:
Bathrobes - did not ever get
Slippers - did not ever get
Beer in the fridge (replenished Daily) - never provided
A bottle of Rum - never provided
Coca Cola in the fridge (replenished daily) - no complaints (after $20 day 2 tip)
Water in the fridge (replenished daily) - no complaints (after $20 day 2 tip)
Beach Towels in the room (had to pick these up at the pool, not a big deal).
Room did not have face cloths or a bath mat. We received a bathmat on day 5. The bed was surprisingly comfortable.
We didn't let any of this affect our vacation, but we would never stay in this hotel again.

Be Live Collection Punta Cana Adults Only: Okay-ish
You get what you pay for. Clean rooms, decent beds, but outdated, dingy bathrooms. Staff not very friendly or service-oriented. Food is nothing to write home about, but I also didn’t get sick like I normally do on beach vacations. The music at the pool and during the evening entertainment is LOUD, so plan your sleep & naps around that. You need to be on the beach well before 7am to get a chair and you will be pestered all day by vendors.

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Couples Trip - Not Worth The Cost
I had previously visited the Royalton Chic Punta Cana in February 2015 and absolutely loved the trip. I re-booked at the hotel with my husband for our honeymoon in March 2023 and was so disappointed.
We booked a Diamond Club oceanview room.
Here were the pros:
- Beautiful view of the resort & ocean from our room
- Our Diamond Club butler Ronald was amazing. He was super friendly, booked our dinner reservations, booked a spa reservation for us, and messaged us daily to see if he could do anyt[... read more]hing for us. He was one of the best parts of the trip. He even had a bubble bath with flowers drawn for us one day.
- The massages at the Spa were amazing.
- We enjoyed the food at the Ceviche/Sushi restaurant and Elements Buffet (breakfast and lunches were great)
- Great gym, nice and clean
- We told them it was our honeymoon and they didn't do anything special for us.
And here were the cons:
- The majority of the staff were not very friendly and were constantly on their phones
- The resort needs cleaning and a ton of minor repairs.
- The purple lights in our room were burnt out (we asked for them to be fixed and were told maintenance would come but they never did)
- The bed creaked whenever you rolled over in it
- The restaurant service was poor. In several restaurants, we waited over 30 mins to have our orders taken and over an hour for food. The restaurants were fairly loud and it was hard to have a conversation over dinner.
- The Diamond Club exclusive areas weren't monitored by staff and anyone could use them so I'm not sure why we paid extra for them.
- The shows were great but had limited seating. They also started late but we were told they started at 9 pm.
- The evening dancing was lack luster it was hard to get the crowd going (like a bad wedding dance floor). We wish there was a dance club on site.

The staff were very pleasant and well trained, very eager to please the guests. Food was always very attractively presented.Beach lounges were all very comfortable, which doesn't happen at some other resorts. We would go back again.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Our initial room was as far from the beach as could be possible. i am a senior with walking challenges. The second room we got backed on to the lot which served as a main supply road for which was noisy and lousy view of the industrial lot. Our third room had a better view bust was still a far distance from the beach. The mini bus setup helps somewhat but is dangerous with people walking amongst the vehicles day and night. This was our fourth stay at the hotel (Esmeralda was best). Based on our most recent stay it will be our last
Service was slow and lacked professionalism. Food was good but not great. Best feature of the hotel was the beach
Beach towels were hogged by guests. Focus on letting guest reserve spots makes the lack of towels the point of discussion everyday.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Awesome Resort
This resort was everything we expected. The grounds, the beach and pools are fabulous. The food was great, always something to eat. The rooms were very clean. The rooms are dated but clean. Yes there were a couple of mosquitos, but we were not bit or anything like that. Would go back. They have multiple pools and always were able to get chairs around pools. They had lunch at pool area each day. The weather was great.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Like going Home..again.
This was our FIFTH week with the Majestics.(Feb28 to Mar 7) We stayed in a swim up room on the family side, directly across from the swim up pool bar. The room is pretty much the same as it was before, but in good shape considering it is around 15 years old. We heard that some renos and updates are planned for later this summer. From check in to check out we were treated great by all staff. This was a milestone birthday for me and Yessica led the Italian Dinning room staff in singing Happy Bir[... read more]thday and delivering an impromptu birthday cake on the day. With very few exceptions everyone we encountered was clearly happy with their work, smiling and joking and eager to make us feel welcome. That is the prime reason we are repeat visitors to Majestic.and this being our 30th Caribbean Vacation. .Food, and drinks were very good, and with enough options, there was always something to enjoy and even at non club level, top shelf liquor (imports) were available. To make things even more enjoyable we had perfect weather the whole week, Hot and Sunny. The only damper on the trip was the Air Canada rep assigned to the Majestic Elegance. Our Welcome booklet advised to attend the briefing on first morning but she was not easy to find (not in lobby as stated) and would not advise time for departure shuttle until day before departure. Even then I had to track her down. NOT the Hotel's fault in any way. As for the Majestic, Will we make it a Sixth Visit ?? Very Likely..

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: 8 days at Melia Caribe
The resort is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. There is seaweed, but the location changes daily with the winds. Water is crystal clear when the water is calm ~ warm and wonderful for swimming. The lobby is very beautiful. Modern, well maintained, and comfortable. Some staff members are great and genuinely try their best to provide a good experience (such as some servers and housekeepers), others (such as front desk, restaurant reservation, and bar) are dismissive and reluctant to help. I[... read more]n the restaurant we mostly got our own drinks and coffees. When staff do ask what you need (ie., towels, coffee, bath robes), you tell them and they say "sure" but never bring/forget the requested items. The property itself is beautifully designed and the grounds have the potential to be lovely but at this time, maintenance is visibly lacking (likely shortage of staff). The food is delicious, great selection and variety. Evenings are quiet, there are some nice shows but not much to do other than walk and admire the scenery. The lighting at night is stunning. Really beautiful design and a pleasure to experience. The main pool is big and very beautiful. Water is clean and clear, doesn't smell of chemicals. The pathways around the pool however are rather dirty and it's best to walk in shoes. Despite us being at the resort in high season (feb-march), there is a lot of construction work (building new pool cabanas, pool walkway repairs with concrete). The pool was still very enjoyable. There are gorgeous palms and everything is close. We liked the entertainment in the pool and the public restrooms (across the resort) were exceptionally clean. Rooms are okay. Design is minimalist and a bit dull. Bathrooms and balcony are fine. Beds are comfortable and bedding is clean. Checkout was quick, but checking in took forever (at least an hour) despite there being only about 6 people arriving. Many staff walk around in groups talking and joking but ignore visitors. The staffing and service is truly the downfall of this resort in our experience. Careless and non attentive staff in 2023. Overall, this resort has the makings of an awesome place. We enjoyed our time here (week +) and are grateful for the tropical experience. Covid has definitely left its mark on this resort and we hope that in the future, they recoup service level and cleanliness/maintenance to pre-covid levels. Additionally, we hope staff is provided more training in customer service and can improve in years to come. We'd give this a total of 3/4 stars max in 2023, 3 for service and matinenace, 4 for location and overall design.

Occidental Caribe: Disappointing
We were a group of 6 leaving from Halifax NS joining two other couples from Toronto and Manitoba to arrive in Punta Cana on February 26, 2023 at 10:30pm. Our flight was delayed and we did not arrive at the resort until 10:30 am on February 27, 2023. Although we paid for our rooms, no rooms were available upon arrival which was upsetting as we had no sleep with all the delays. We were told to check back at the front desk at 1pm then 2pm then 3pm.
Our upgraded room was to included Beach towels i[... read more]n room, welcoming Rum, robe/slippers and beer in fridge. We had none of that although later in the week customer service provided us with the rum. As well, we were to receive 4 meals at restaurants however we could not make reservations until we received a room. Once we finally were given a room and we went to customer service to book reservations they told us there were no reservations available. We challenged this and did get reservations however it added stress to the trip. Again more stress to our vacation. The bathroom towels were not consistent and often we were short. We had a leak in our bathroom which the maid was clearly aware as she placed a towel underneath. I am not faulting the maid crew as it clearly appears to be a supply issue for towels. The clientele for the first number of days were families from infants to grandparents. The day before we left buses upon buses arrived with student groups and the resort became unenjoyable and we could not wait to leave. The resort and our carrier should have warned us of that when booking. We requested a late check out on our last day due to our flight time however they would not give it even though we did not use the first night due to our delayed arrival and they subsequently received payment twice for that night.
No late check out even though we only received 6 of the 7 nights we paid for. Very disappointing.
