Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: What a let down...
I stayed at Memories Flamenco Beach from May 15-22/19. Let me preface this by saying I have been to Cayo Coco many times and stayed at many hotels, so this is just a reflection on this specific hotel & not Cayo Coco in general which is absolutely amazing. Here is my review:
Pros:
-nice beach, good weather
-room beds were comfy, water pressure/heat decent in shower
-quick check-in
Cons:
-diamond club is a waste of money
-no waiters on beach for more than 15 mins each day, rarely asked [... read more]you if you wanted drinks (they were supposed to be there daily 10-4)
-dilapidated falling apart sun beds
-unaware that Diamond Club had their own bar until 2 days before end of trip
-Diamond Club concierge service in the lobby was always empty – no staff
-rooms never stocked properly, missing water & beer/pop daily, requested it & had to wait hours
-missing toilet paper, waited 6hrs and only given 1 roll when asked for 2 (due to sickness from the food)
-towel hut was never open, never enough clean towels to exchange, had to call room service multiple times to get towels
-poolside bathrooms – 6 stalls, 4 out of order and 2 that didn’t lock, always smelled bad and never stocked with toilet paper
-way too many cats on resort, jumped on tables while you ate
-turkey vultures circling all day
-buffet food was cold, very greasy, barely refilled, no variety
-made people sick throughout resort, one hallway had feces on the walls due to someone not making it to their room, we were sick 5 out of 7 days & still sick when we got home
-a la carte restaurants had the same issues
-drinks were poorly made
-spa – booked a massage, showed up and no one was there, had to ask someone to call around & find our massage people
showed up late & didn’t believe we had appointments (no record of them even though we had a receipt)
-transfer from bus to airport, driver did not put all bags on bus after we stood beside him and pointed our bags out to him, had to take cab back to resort to get missed luggage ($30 cuc)
-bus tour guide yelled at us (unknown name) & blamed us for luggage issue, told us we were an inconvenience & cost him money to make calls to the resort (I've never been treated that poorly by staff - not sure if he was hired by Sunwing or the resort)
That is my overall point form review. I would not recommend this resort. I spoke to multiple people at this resort who shared all the same feelings. Sadly, this resort needs a major upgrade and better management. Hopefully this changes in the future. I know everyone has different experiences so hopefully others there had a better time.
Once again, no reflection on Cayo Coco or Cuba in general. I love Cuba and will travel there again... just to a different resort

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great resort with beautiful beaches!
The people for the most part were great. There were a few that didn’t seem happy. You could tell it was low season and therefore the staff were tired and it seemed like we were bothering them. The resort ran out of some selected items. The either ran out of certain alcohol or certain food. Didn’t seem like they cared. I would hope that whether it was high or low season that we would get the same service. But unfortunately that was not the case. I hope to go back on high season to see if itâ€[... read more]™s the same. The beaches were incredible and the resort overall was clean and well taken care of. This was my second time in Cuba and it was a different experience. I look forward to trying out another resort.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Quality going down!
Second time at this resort, and I must say a lot has changed since last year. There were a lot of food shortages this year. Staff overall seemed unhappy therefore made me wonder if management had something to do with that. Entertainment still 10/10, the animation crew at both the beach/pool/night time events were always enthusiastic and ensured we all had a good time.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: wonderful time. Great resort
Stayed here may 1-8. Resort was very nice. Food was as Cuban food is, not bad. The people really made the resort, especially Yidsy and Jennifer in the lobby bar. They greeted us every morning with drinks and a smile. When you start your day like that everything else is great. The a la carte restaurants were good and the snack bar at the beach great as well. The beach was amazing. No problems at all with the room always clean and made up nicely. The only shortfall was that the food was not always h[... read more]ot but there was a microwave to warm it if needed.Overall a fantastic week. Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing resort!
Resort was fantastic all-around. Excellent service. Excellent food. Very well maintained grounds. Beautiful beach. The rooms we had were spacious and clean, although we did hear from other travellers that their experience was not the same. However, when they raised their concerns to staff, they were moved promptly.

Melia Costa Rey: Amazing resort
We stayed in building 24 with partial ocean view room, the view was amazing!!! Special shout out to Reny and Arielles (spelling?) who made our vacation a 10/10!! They absolutely went above and beyond our best expectations with service at the cafe by the snack bar, we now have 2 new friends in Cuba and can’t wait to go back and stay at this wonderful resort and see our new friends again 💙😎. The beach was the best I’ve ever been too, no problem to find a shaded area to enjoy the ocean. Go to the main lobby for THE BEST CAPPUCCINO â˜•ï¸ with a beautiful view from the patio.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Good resort
Had a great week at Melia Jardines Del Ray! The staff were amazing and the beach was breathtaking.
The hotel maintenance staff were constantly fixing minor issues around the hotel and cleaning the grounds.
The mosquitos are terrible at night but we brought cig spray with us. The hotel sprayed around the main lobby three times during our stay which drastically decreased the mosquitos at night time.
Was a good vacation, we would go back!

Gran Muthu Imperial: Has Potential
This was my 1st time to this resort - Gran Mathu Imperial - we stayed here May 10-17th.
I would not consider this a 5 star maybe a 3.5 with potential to a 5 star.
I'll start with the not so great - FOOD yes we all know Cuba doesn't have the greatest menu- not that there wasn't any flavor this has gotten better. (been to Cuba 13 times) its the options - If you are a vegetarian you are very limited. If you enjoy variety of fruits - you have Guava or Papaya. Buffet was not opened for lunch - [... read more]you have the beach area or snack bar. Will you starve? NO - they have French fries, pasta and pizza , pizza, pasta only avail at dinner in the main buffet. I like seafood and it was very scares there. The a la carte we tried Chinese - I was ok with it my bf was not. - they tried.
The rooms were kept very clean and our maid Rose ( I don't remember the spelling of her name) she cleaned room 6009, she is a lovely soul.
The waiter, waitresses and bartender all did a superb job, very attentive - remembered our drinks and how we liked them. Greeted us for breakfast and lunch , acknowledged us and seated us right away.
A couple of people that have stuck in my mind - Maceo pool bar bartender makes the BEST mojitos!!! Jennifer pool bar - always smiling and asking how our day is - sweet girl!
Entertainment staff, always friendly and getting us involved in fun activities. Ladyann and Leo, Karl a few names I remember but they are all lovely. Great live bands in the Lobby area as well as comfy seating.
Sports bar super fun - you can play a game of pool and or fuze-ball and the 2 guys that bartend there are super cool and make the BEST apple martinis!- or make u a bitters if your tummy isn't the greatest.. thank you!
The grounds are kept clean and the gardeners work very hard! If you have anything to give away , please don't forget about them!
The infinity pool is just beautiful - you can lounge while looking at the most beautiful ocean!
The ocean - it needs some work- very rocky close to the bar and washroom- if you keep walking to the left you will have no rocks and an enjoy the ocean. - we took a 5 mins bus ride to Pilar Beach - YOU must go there! $10 gets you a cabana and 3 drinks.
A suggestion I would like to make and as I see it its a suggestion from a lot of guests - Lobby bar, sports bar should be opened till at least midnight - and the Disco should be free for the guests that stay there.
Like I said when this resort becomes more avail to other airlines - more volume this resort has potential.
Would I return to this resort - maybe in a few years.
I travel quite a bit and I must say beaches in Cuba does not compare to Dominican, Mexico or Jamaica best calm beaches.
Of course the Cubans wear their heart on their sleeves the sweetest, nicest people I guess this is why I keep returning to Cuba and hey I lost 6lbs ha ha ..
Thanks for the memories!

Melia Costa Rey: Family vacation.
We went as a family of 6 to celebrate a birthday and 2 graduations. The Pullman is a good resort for all kinds of travellers. The beach was beautiful and the grounds were keep very clean. The food for Cuba standards was very good, the live entertainment was great we watched 3 shows. The rooms were cleaned every day, there was always clean towels and our fridge was restocked everyday. Now for the downside of The Pullman, the front desk service was poor, the rooms were assigned incorrectly and it[... read more] took 2 days out of our vacation to fix their mistake ,, and they never apologized . Alot of the staff could not speak English , for a resort that rates itself as a 4.5 the communication was very lacking. I will end my review by saying we had a great time.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beautiful Resort with Amazing Beach
This resort was beautiful. The layout was perfect, everything was close. The pools were unique in their layout, and the swim up bar service was above grade; all the services were great. Our room was very clean as well.
No complaints at all, hospitality wise or other.
We went mid May 2019, which meant that the resort was only running at half mass, but was still great. The entertainment was good, but the resort was fairly quiet given the time of year we went. We did a night at the cave nightclu[... read more]b, and went next door to the disco (which was conveniently located if your into going dancing, 2 min walk).
Food wise, there was always plenty to eat. Freshly made chicken, pork, beef for every dinner; along with pasta, salads, potatoes and rice, etc. Always broccoli and squash, beans, ham, cheese, etc.
Lots of desserts too!
The ice cream bar was an added bonus.
Breakfast was always the best meal in our opinion though, the french toast and omelettes were delicious.
And the beach... saving the best for last.... was AMAZING! The water was shallow for a long way in, warm, crystal clear; barely any waves. We never had to save a beach hut or stress to get one.
10th time in Cuba, and one of the best beaches yet!
Strong 4 star rating.
Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Awesome time at the send resort during our 2 weeks stay
We stayed at the Daiquiri from May 3 - 10 due to not being pleased with the services at this resort, they had no beer in the mini fridge in our room, ran out of beer, mint for Mojitos and vodka at the lobby bar almost every evening, the lobby washrooms were disgusting, the smell from the men’s washroom lingered into the women’s and it was just disgusting, my husband told me that two of the stalls in the men’s washroom were out of order and the toilets were clogged up. Over all the food w[... read more]as good, a good selection, the snack bar which was in the Mexican restaurant made the best hamburgers, very tasty and well cooked. The beach was beautiful, a lot of shade and chairs any time of the day, we did not go in the pool, we come for the beach and ocean. My husband fished every morning on the piers located on the beach, he was in his glory and even was taken out on the Catamaran and got a “Red snapper†and other different kinds of fish. The staff are very attentive and courteous but the running out of boos and not having beer in the room made us request a transfer to the Mojito, we were staying in Cuba for two weeks and were not fully happy so the transfer was not a problem and the remainder of our vacation, the Mojito is a lesser and smaller resort but they had beer every other day in our room, no running out of boos for the length of our stay, the lobby washrooms were clean all of the time no matter what time it was and of course the beach and ocean is beautiful. The only thing with the location of Mojito is that there are a lot of mosquitoes due to the lagoon surrounding the resort but over all we were satisfied with the service and hospitality of both of these resorts but we would never return to the Daiquiri, this was our second time to the Mojito and would return again. The other thing was that there was no beach bar at the Daiquiri but one at the Mojito, for the price of the Mojito compared to the Daiquiri, it’s worth going back to the Mojito, you sure get your monies worth, not Daiquiri, a big disappointment.

Gran Muthu Imperial: Second trip for the heaven.....
Based on our first impression we returned to this beautiful hotel to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary.
This time we chose HolaSun and flew with a smaller Air Transat 737 without any issues. (the difference between the two firms that Transat offering 3 hours cancellation insurance and short ride from the airport to the resort then HolaSun has only 3 days cancellation and their bus took 7 stops in Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo until finally we arrived an hour and the half later)[... read more]
Toronto Airport had a broken luggage loader belt that slowed down the processing time but finally we reached the plane. Thanks for the pilot we got a smooth ride but our seats were more uncomfortable than on the bigger flight.
When we finally arrived, we were warmly welcomed and the check in process was even faster than first time. Smooth and professional. Surprisingly we got the upgrade into the suite in the same building. The bellboy drove us there and bring the luggage's into our gorgeous new room.
The resort operated on really low occupancy but we didn't feel too much for lock of service but the variety of food and the buffet was closed for lunches. We also missed several stuff members but cannot complain about any services.
The sun was much stronger than in March and unfortunately, we got burned the first day on the beach but that was our fault.
Mostly we used the 24hr snack bar for eat and drink. Only two guys served many people at the nights but they worked extremely hard to provide the same service as we received last time.
Our much bigger suite was cleaned every day and we still received beautiful creatures on the bed and front of the jacuzzi...
Customer service team surprised us with candles and flowers for both of our celebrations...That was really nice from them!!!
Internet is 1 CUC an hour and the whole resort covered almost everywhere.
Pilar beach is still beautiful but this time we went there with taxi for the same price. It is about 5 km's and we told to the driver what time we would like him to return and we paid him the 10 CUC only when arrived back to the resort.
We asked for late checkout and left our room at 5pm then picked up at 7pm.
Everything was perfect on the trip but unfortunately on the airport mosquitoes attacked everyone. We never had this experience and seen these many mosquitoes in our life. That was a nightmare and our plane was an hour late.....Just a note as the Cuban officers took lighters from everyone by the security check so prepare for it especially if you have an expensive one:-)

Good food for the most part. Did have some variety everyday. The specialty restaurant's served somewhat the same as in the buffet except smaller portions. Nice to have a 24 hour snack bar.
The room we had there was no hot water. Tv didnt work. Oatio door brojen and wouldn't close all the way so bugs got in and would not lock.

The resort is very good value. The grounds are well kept and the buffet is good. The pools are quite large and good and the entertainment is very good. The biggest drawback for us was that when we went in early May, the mosquitoes were very bothersome.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful Resort
Travelled to Memories Caribe in early May and absolutely loved it . Beach is jaw dropping , pool area is nice with swim up bar . Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to greet you and offer help . A la carte’s were very good . Excellent margaritas , mojito’s and Spanish coffee. Rooms were a little dated but very clean and beds were comfortable . Only issue was bugs and mosquitoes in early morning and at night so be sure to take bug spray ! I will definately be returning!
