Playa Vista Azul: Awesome Resort!

We had a terrific family vacation. A beautiful resort and I’m looking forward to going back. We upgraded to Privilege and were not disappointed. Amazing service, very nice restaurants and great people. Our family enjoyed the wonderful Cuban culture. Pools and beaches are all within a short walk. Thanks Yadil, Maykel, Yanelkis, Katia and Yuriel. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great resort

This was a great resort that my boyfriend and I have visited from February 20th-27th. If You’re going away as couples and are looking for a party resort this wouldn’t be your best choice but if you’re looking for a nice relaxing trip it’s great. Although it was hard finding beach chairs due to the resort being full but everything was great. Also the rooms were pretty ran down if you are a very picky person overall I wouldn’t recommend Cuba at But if you don’t mind the little things like the room not bothering you then it’s good. It would’ve been nicer if the room was a little more modern but again you’re there to spend your time in the sun not in your room. Beach and ocean were amazing.

Blau Varadero: Awesome staff- beautiful beach

Loved the layout of the resort- the different restaurants, entertainment and bars were appropriately scattered out making it feel less crowded and overwhelming. The food in general was good. We had one a la Carte at the Italian Restaurant and it was very good. Entertainment was also good. Staff at this resort were all amazing. Would definitely go back.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort and great service

We had a great time at the resort, the food was good, the service was great and overall the entire experience was amazing. The downside was that the washroom in our room did not have ventilation and the restaurants were too crowded. Other than that, thumbs up!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort

It’s been a while since we’ve been on vacation. This resort was absolutely amazing. Grounds, rooms were impeccable. Staff were very helpful and always with a smile. Big shout out to Monica and jiovanni from the main buffet. Food and entertainment was very good.Can’t get over how beautiful the beach was. Ocean was so clear. We will definitely be back. Thank you for this memorable vacation. Our 37 wedding anniversary.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Not quite as advertised

Although the beack and staff were wonderful, there were a few things about the hotel that were a bit of a let down. As another reviewer said, the hotel seems to be in decline. It was our family's time there but we talked to several other families who had been there before who said that the resort had slid downhill. The former waterfall is no longer working, the jacuzzi on the 5th floor was running but with only cold water. We had to use our same blue beack towels for the entire 10 days we were there as no replacements were available. The bath towels in the room smelled quite a bit as though there were not enough detergent used. I am not condemning the place as the food was decent enough and the people were great. I would actually rate this place as more of a 3+ stars and not a 4.

Everything is nice very good hotel to stay there. Very nice people who working there. Food is good. Service is good and nice. Hotel is very nice. Entertainment is nice for adults and kids. Next time see you there.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Amazing week at a wonderful resort - Melia Penninsula, Varadero, Cuba

From the moment we entered the lobby, & were met with a cold drink ,to our departure 7 days later, we were very pleased with our resort choice. The management & staff did everything they could to make our stay as stress free & comfortable as possible. The grounds were immaculate. There was always shade & loungers. The mini bar was generously stocked every day & the buffet had great selections. We tried the Japanese, Cuban & Bistro a la cartes - made a nice change. Roc Arenas Doradas: Great for the price!!!

We booked the resort only because our trip to Cayo Largo was abruptly cancelled so we hadn't had much time to research. Having said that we were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful surroundings and amazing beach around us. Swimming in the sand bottomed ocean was such fun wether it was still or full of waves. We rode the free catamaran through the waves and back... And chilled on the beach in the sun or under the straw umbrellas. Entertainment was always available at the beach or by the pool. [... read more] The common areas were clean and well kept, and you could tell that they were in the process of updating parts of the resort. Having said that, we were in a building that was clean but quite dated and tired looking. if you had an issue with your room, the staff was quick to come and take care of it. I understand that some of the buildings (rooms) have been modernized but I didn't get to see them. The staff was always receptive, some friendlier than others, some abit slower than others but usually willing to help. The buffet always had fresh cooked options and I was able to create a different meal daily. We went to the Italian a la carte and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Drinks were usually good quality, wine with dinner but they ran out of wine at the bar in the evenings, so it was Mohito time !! There were lots of families there and they seemed to be well accommodated. Not a wild party resort but a relaxing enjoyable vacation was had by most of our group of 12. Great value for $$$

Melia Internacional: Beautiful

Thanks to Heather she convinced me...Really enjoyed this hotel. The food was good lots to choose from but don't forget to bring your ketchup and hot sauce The beach was beautiful white sands well kept great service there's always someone on the beach to assist you with chairs or umbrella. Melia Varadero: R & R Vay Cay

Needed a getaway to unplug from work and other life stressors take in some sunshine fresh air get that vitiamin D we all need to endure our long cold Canadian winters. No cell phone no internet, just a book a glass of Brandy and a good Cuban Cigar and get back to basics. Walked daily ate healthy at a Fabulous Resort the Melia Veradero. Rooms were clean the grounds were beautifully maintained and the beach was glorious. Now when it comes to Cuba folks are always concerned about the food, let me tell ya you will not have that issue at this resort as the food was excellent to say the least. I ran into many vacationers who are returnees to this resort probably more so than any other resort or chain I have vacationed at over the years. I now know why as I will indeed be returning and bringing my family to experience this Melia Resort. So Melia Veradero get ready for another happy traveler who will now become the next traveler to become a multi return visit vacationer. I would like to put a special shout out to 2 staff in particular that work at the main bar the lovely bartenderness Seniorita Fatima who's happy demeanor and infectious smile makes you feel like you've known her all your life. And lastly Luis Miguel a young eager to insure all his table serve customers are happy and feel welcomed yet not overbearing just genuine charismatic personality. As a business man who has hired over thousands of employees this young man has potential to be a valuable asset to the Melia Team whom I would not hesitate to invest training to see the heights this young man can obtain. Melia Las Antillas: Great Vacation!

Not only was this our first trip to Cuba, it was our first vacation at a down south all inclusive in over 17 years. We were not disappointed. Everything we had heard and read about the friendliness of the Cuban people was true and more! We especially enjoyed the live entertainment at the roof top patio before the main shows each evening. Loved the water ballet. Can't comment on the other main evening shows as we did not go to see them. We were pleasantly surprised by the food as we had heard so often that "the food isn't great but everything else is in Cuba." It certainly did not compare to the food on the Alaskan cruise we did last year, but we did not expect it to. But the food certainly did compare to what we would make and serve on a regular day at home as we certainly don't cook 5 star meals 7 days a week at home! The breads, cheeses and charcuterie were great. I had no problem building myself a nice salad with the fresh greens and vegetables on offer and there was always some fruit (though not the variety at home) and there was ice cream! The omelet station was great. There was decent variety in the meats, fish and sides (it helps that I really do like rice and beans and their typical cuban version is really good). The only negative I could say is that the "hot" items were sometimes just barely warm by the time we got to a table to sit down to eat. The spanish wines served at lunch and dinner were quite good. The buildings are nice, but not spectacular or particularly opulent. That suits us just fine. We loved the location of our room in one of the smaller buildings as our balconey was always in shade so we always had somewhere to go for an hour or so when we needed to get out of the sun. The room is large, with a nice sunken living area included. My only complaint would be that the bathroom is very dated and really needs to be refreshed with more modern fixtures and decor - it really felt like an old bathroom straight out of a 1940's roadside motel. We did two day trips, the Havana trip including dinner and show at the Tropicana, and the Jeep Safari tour. Both were great and allowed us to learn a lot about Cuba, it's history, and it's current way of life. We only wished we had taken along some items for the children on the Jeep tour as the kids ran to the roadside to wave at us as we drove through the small villages. Along that vein, yes, if you're going to Cuba by all means tip regularly with CUCs, but also bring along some of the goods that are in short supply there - they are very much appreciated. In all likelihood we will be back in Cuba someday, but probably at another resort, just because we prefer to not go to the same place twice. We did notice that many people do return over and over as evidenced by the hugs and greetings from staff when some new guests arrived. We did thoroughly enjoy our time at Melia Las Antillas and I'm sure you will too!

Playa Vista Azul: Ocean Vista Azul

The resort was awesome, small and not busy. Recommend the privilege. The alacarte restaurants were awesome. The buffet was decent but still a great place to eat. The view was amazing and the beaches were very nice

Roc Arenas Doradas: It was ok!!

The hotel was clean, and budget friendly. The food was not wonderful, But we always found something to eat. Service everywhere was friendly, but not quick. The rooms absolutely need updating. The coffee bar Was delicious, and the staff wonderful.

Playa Vista Azul: Worst vacation ever

From the moment I stepped foot in the room I knew The resort is not up to par. The room was filthy. The sheet wore stained the floor dirty the room smell musty. I took me 1 hour of fighting with front desk for them to clean the room. The food was cuba food I wasn’t expecting a lot. But the dishes were always dirty. So I never tri [... read more]ed them because you put your name on a list and wait so if you lucky you get a seat. So I didn’t eat at a la carte. The beach was nice and people are friendly. Beach towels that is another story. They never had any clean towels. Every time I go to get clean towels it is the same excuse we don’t have clean towels. So we used the same towels for the whole week. The room was cleaned daily but they never put more than 2 towels and we are 3 people in the room. I always have to call for towels. The don’t give you hand towels. So over all that resort is not 5 stars as advertised. It is maximum 3 star. I have travelled south over 26 times For vacation by far this the worst vacation I ever had. Never would I even come near this resort.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Beautiful grounds, great people

Just got back from a 5 day stay at Iberostar Playa Alameda. Since we were there for such a short period of time, we didn't do any excursions and stayed on the resort. Luckily, there was lots to do - Charlie and the entertainment team do a great job of hosting events. We did rum and cigar tasting and pairing, cocktail mixing, dancing, and much more. For the most part, the staff were also incredibly kind. One thing that was a bit frustrating was that many people would put things on beach and pool chairs to reserve them and leave for hours at a time. If you come here, please be kind and take your stuff with you when you leave! The room itself was fairly muggy - I'd recommend leaving the AC on for as long as possible, otherwise the moisture will make your clothes smell a bit funky. There was also a piece of glass on the floor when we first came in and the balcony door was broken. However, the rooms are fine if you're just using them to sleep in at the end of the night and not spending your days there. Overall this was a great place to stay, even if the rooms were somewhat lacking.

Grand Memories Varadero: Great resort!

This resort is one of the largest I have visited. The grounds were beautiful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Pool area clean. Dining area was busy (we visited over spring break!) but food was plentiful, there was something for everybody. Entertainment was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was absolutely beautiful, one of the best.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great Resort

The grounds were beautiful, as was the beach. Food was good. Buffet got a little old, but there were lots of other restaurants to try. Enjoyed all the a la cartes that we tried. Staff was mostly friendly. Rooms were clean and nice and cool. Would definitely go back.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Beautiful resort.

The first time I went to this resort, it was a year old. It was a fresh beautiful resort but after 3 visits the resort rooms need to be updated. The grounds are still as beautiful as it was or more... Public bathrooms are impressively clean. The staff, are the most kind. The cleaning of the rooms should step up a bit...they never mopped up the floor for 7 days. The towel system is bad, you have to wait for the cleaning person to change your towels and that usually happens late morning. T [... read more]he walkway tiles around the lobby, restaurants and ect.. need to be changed to a rough type of titles because I've experienced and seen people slip after it rained. In several occasions, I went to the front desk to ask them to put a sign at the entrance. The beach is beautiful! But I think it should be swept daily, not every 2or3 days. The entertainment is really poor compared to the early years. Overall this resort is beautiful and I'd go back in a heartbeat. 4+
