Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fantastic Resort

We stayed at the colonial premium from December 25 - January 9th. (Currently day 10 of our stay) The resort is extremely well maintained and the staff are always busy keeping everything clean. The majority of staff are very friendly and helpful. The only area we felt ignored was the piano bar area. Always lots of staff but they tend to just act like you’re not there. If I was going to fix anything here it would be  [... read more]that you can’t get a coffee near the premium rooms until 10:30 am and the room coffee just isn’t the same. We did take a cup of milk back to the room each night which did help. With the premium your room is in a perfect location for the beach and pool and our view was fantastic. Here’s the but the premium lounge is way up in the far end of the lobby. Not convenient at all!

Very clean and fun filled place. Food is great and drinks are out of the world Would definitely recommend to my friends and family Loved the concept of resort accedes to 3 more resorts akumal was a great experience with the infinity pool

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Good resort but not exceptional

Service and the landscape are the best part of this resort. The staff is very friendly and they really want to make your stay comfortable. The landscape is beautiful, you are practically in a tropical garden. A expansive variety of tropical plants, trees and flowers are everywhere, creating a feeling of privacy and comfort. The food is not the best. The quality of the ingredients are not the best and the vegan/ vegetarian/ gluten-free options are very limited. Not recommended for people who a [... read more]re on a specific diet or are interested in good organic food. The vegetables are not from the organic source. The best dinner restaurant is the Asian restaurant, but again, the vegetarian option is small. The service in the restaurants are very good. The worst aspect of this resort is the beach. Although the sea is very good for swim and snorkel, the beach is too small for the number of tourists in the resort, so it is crowded. Also, there are outside people using the beach, sometime the beach looks like a camping site, not like a five star hotel beach. I saw people with kids using the beach all day long, therefore the beach is not adult- only. Also, being crowded, you might end up inhaling smoke from the smoking people instead of the sea breeze. It is not the right place for a serene day next to the sea. There are some beds build on a part of the beach, just in front of the preferred section, but you have to pay an additional fee for each day when you rent them. There are 3 types of beds: 75$, 100$ and 175$, depending on the vision and distance of the sea. The rooms are outdated, but spacious and comfortable. The room service is excellent. Preferred club is giving you access to a special check-in service and a special bar.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Lovely resort

This resort was well kept, very clean and run by friendly accommodating staff. Very comfortable and clean rooms.The ala carte restaurants were amazing..I loved blue moon the best, sensei was also very good, I must say they were all good and there was a variety of choice at the main buffet. We enjoyed the adults only section. The bistro bar was run efficiently and the food was delicious. I would recommend this resort to anyone. Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing time

The buildings are in need of repair everywhere. I believe all resorts are probably in need of the same. Hospitality was over the top The joices over the top Excursions over the top Price- fair, experience priceless Westjet over the top

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Very busy post Christmas

The rooms are okay, the entire vicinity is great, lots to do however very busy. Long waits, have to be very early for beach chairs. Food is good, very family friendly. Service was lacking but I think it's because of the volume people. If your going to pack a resort there should be efficient staff. No fireworks for new years, along with lack of communication regarding reservations left our one planned family dinner (23 people) to all being separated. Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great trip

We love the Barcelona Maya Colonial, The place is beautiful, room was very clean . The food was good, and the staff were helpful and friendly . We could always find a place to sit by the pools or beach.

Hotel Xcaret Arte 16 Plus: Exceptional experience

Everything was amazing and they put care in having quality down to every last detail. The art is beautiful throughout the resort, even the dining chairs in every restaurant are beautiful and crafted to subtly match their different cuisine's theme. The service is exceptional and smiles don't feel forced. The food... is incomparable to other resorts. It's just on another level. I can't recommend enough.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Great resort

The resort was great! The staff was amazing and the grounds were always kept clean. The only thing I did not like was the “waterfall” at the pool bar near building 19. The water would get in your drink and that was gross

Sensira Resort and Spa: Very Nice, Modern, Family Oriented Resort With Issues

The hotel layout, grounds, pools, rooms and facilities are very nice. While it has a dedicated adult section and pool, overall it is best suited for families with children. If you want quiet relaxation, this is not the place. We have stayed here during the Xmas holidays and encountered many issues. Giving it the benefit of doubt, I hope the problems we experienced might be chalked up to staffing shortages. One must hope (especially the management/owners) that the problems we experienced or obse [... read more]rved are not systemic. From an adult perspective, the most annoying problem was the loud, rhythmic noise (music??) blaring all day long. Unbearable! The quality, quantity and selection of food in the buffet style restaurant is very good. The "specialty" restaurants (with the exception of the Senses) are mediocre at best. Not to mention the challenges of making reservations to them. The effort in daily cleaning up the beach from the seaweed inundation is very commendable.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great Family Vacation

The hotel overall was good. We would not say 5star - we felt they catered to selling Privilege packages and they received the better service - private pools, separate beautiful restaurants, private shuttles, nicer rooms etc. The resort is older and could use an updates. There were not enough shuttles for people. The staff were all great - especially the staff in the bowling area. We had so much fun bowling!

Hotel Xcaret Arte 16 Plus: A few disappointments this time.

A beautiful property overall, and some high points as always, however - we had a few disappointments this time that had a material impact on our enjoyment and the hotel's reputation in our eyes. We experienced a handful of closures to valuable parts of the facility, we noted several times that a very 'rules-oriented' staff mentality has emerged, and there were some lapses in cleanliness that I would consider a bit shocking for this 5 diamond establishment.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Fantastic getaway!

Exactly what a vacation should be. We celebrated our first Christmas vacation as empty nesters. The resort was beautiful and the staff were very polite, helpful and always happy. The nightly entertainment was fantastic. It was well worth the cost and we are thinking of returning.

Food in a la carte restaurants good Buffet excellent Staff attentive Golf course one of the best we have been a number of times so we know what to expect over time the hotel has changed but overall remains a 4-5 star resort

Great food, service, beach and atmosphere. Sunwing is an absolute disaster, will never fly sunwing again under any circumstances. Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Disappointing DREAM

A beautiful resort but, sadly, it has gone way downhill in past few years. Possibly too big and needed more attentive management. Upon arrival, the hotel presents well. Beautiful well maintained central gardens, bright fun cosmopolitan central areas with bustling bars put this resort at the front of the line. Shortly after arrival it quickly became apparent that there was some staff communication issues as nobody seemed to be able to make decisions. Staff were pleasant but most tired and grumpy and couldn’t answer any questions. On a gorgeous stretch of beach near the marina and town makes its location desirable. I know it’s beyond their control, but the beach is now a fraction of the size it used to be due to erosion. It’s also rocky, uneven, weedy and has such a powerful surf even on calm days most ppl had a hard time getting past the first wave, especially children. Limited chaise chairs on ocean fuelled towel wars. Buffet during peak season was sad. Unlabelled, uninteresting, bland, limited quantity and variety, confusing traffic flow and no attention to presentation - overall very unappetizing. The buffet counters were Poorly staffed and they moved the food around daily making it frustrating to find simple foods. They regularly ran out of toast and fruit early in breakfast session. Their over use of seed oils left a bad taste in our mouths. Overall, the entire facility was dirty. Our hallways were never cleaned once. Room service took hours to bring food and they didn’t answer to pick up dishes so animals came into buildings at night and ravaged plates. We’d regularly be woken up by crashing fishing and animal sounds in wee hours. We’d wake up to broken dishes and food squished into stairs and corners which were never cleaned during our stay. Our room, although beautifully laid out, had very scratchy sheets, heavy uncomfortable bedding and rock hard pillows - even the special order pillows off room service we’re terrible. Hot water ran out by end of day. Tv and internet were very spotty, slow and unreliable everywhere in resort. Food was hard to obtain outside of “barf-fet” hours. The 24 hr Coffee shop offered limited foods and served Coffee in small plastic mugs with no take out lids and no ceramic for dining in. A 24 hour snack bar is much is needed. Pool beautiful design, heated - but overrun with kids. Dreams? I think not, more like a nightmare!

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Best stay ever

Nothing to hate or not love about his resort my kids and I enjoyed it to the max.. and I would recommend it to anyone who has a family and would like to enjoy a good vacation. I highly suggest getting water shoes as the beach is a bit rocky but it’s still beautiful

Barcelo Maya Palace: Beautiful Christmas holiday with family.

Beautiful holiday. Thanks for great memories. Only concern is flights.. We had 2 delays and fueling issues once boarded plane . Total 3.5 hours delay on return trip. General concerns for air travel as this is the structural factor to any holiday. We were very grateful that there was no flight cancellations as this would have been very difficult situation in respect to sunwing issues. If careful planning could go into travel either plane or transfers to and from airport as this makes or break [... read more]s a holiday and ones wishes to return to any resort. I will recommend Barcelo Maya Palace to friends and family. I'm placing my email address as not giving out personal information unless consent given.

El Dorado Royale: 3 stars at best. Don’t go.

Pros: food is great. Cons: you can’t get a reservation despite needing one and being ‘gourmet all inclusive’, major timeshare / up sell / monetizing all the time (not really all inclusive), VERY over priced for value, room is dated, beach is not awesome, pools are freezing. We are here as a couple and are hugely disappointed. This is a 3 star resort at best.
