Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort but needs some work

Lovely resort but showing a bit of wear and tear, videos and pics are misleading. They showed the royal section which is only available if you book it, otherwise you are on the crowded side of the resort. Room was clean and chambermaid was lovely and always greeted us with a smile. The room was musty when we turned on the AC. The bathroom fan was broken. But otherwise quiet The sand fleas /no see ums were horrendous, I counted 150 bites on one of my husband’s legs and he had to visit the hospi [... read more]tal upon our return. 1 month later and we still have signs of the bites. The beach is gorgeous, no aquatic life so don’t bother with your snorkeling gear, but don’t forget bug spray and wear it at all times, as the resort doesn’t appear to fog or spray. So stay off the grass as the bugs hide out there. This is my 10th time to Cuba so I am not new at this but I have never seen bug bites like this in my entire life. I enjoyed the entertainment and had a great time at the piano bar for karaoke the lovely lady who plays the piano and sings is great, so were the guests that sang. The food was alright, no complaints, it’s Cuba not Mexico. Occasionally the odd bar would run out of things like tonic water etc so they need to refine their supply chains. The 24 hour had no food one night, how does that happen? All in all the weather was good, most of the staff we encountered were kind and helpful, but varadero is just different compared to guardalavca where we have been in the past. I spoke to other Guests who had been there previously and noted that things have gone down quite a bit. If they fixed everything up along with supply issues maybe fixed all the facilities and make use of all the empty hot tubs around the resort it could go up a star rating but it’s definitely not 5 perhaps 3.5 star The royal section is lovely and so are the pools but I wouldn’t pay what I paid To return. If you get a good deal then go, but make sure your room is what you paid for, my friend had to switch 4 times because things just didn’t work or were broken.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Good value resort

This hotel offers many features for teen-twenty year old families. Many sports, games, dancing at disco, nightly show performances and the best beach in Cuba. Victor leads the entertainment team well and interacts positively with guests. Maintenance falls a bit behind lately as some signs of wear but the resort itself overall is good.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful resort

Clean and newer resort. Welcoming lobby with view of infinity pool and ocean. I enjoyed the variety of food available from the fresh grilled fish, roasted chicken, stewed beef, pork to the sauteed vegetables and salad bar with fresh lime wedges. There was definitely something for everyone. I completely disagree with comments about food in Cuba being subpar...it is different. We made the decision to upgrade to privilege. We thoroughly enjoyed the privilege restaurant for breakfast and lunch and the butler who made reservations for us in all the a la carte restaurants. The privilege pool was a quiet Escape.

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing Overall Experience

Hotel met our expectations, food and drinks were so good, pools and beach is absolutely amazing. Except for the overly late waiting for our room, we will still recommend this property to all our friends, families and colleagues.

Melia Internacional: 100% beautiful resort

Rooms excellent, service friendly,hotel very clean, good selection of alcohol, plenty of beach chairs, large pools, helpful staff,good experience overall! Close to town, beautiful beaches! Nice spa. Service 24 hours!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Not a 5 star.

First let me say this, the staff for the most part are wonderful. Now onto the not so goods. Our first room from the moment we entered smelled like mold. Not musty, not mildew but mold. Signs of it were throughout the main room and bathroom. Spent one night in that only to be awoken by what one would think was an earthquake. Umm no, our bed broke! Went to front desk and spent a few hours sorting that ordeal out. Finally ended up in a room with 2 twin bed which we pushed together for the  [... read more]remainder of our stay. The grounds were not maintained as well as they should've been. The hot tubs weren't working. One had water in it for who knows how long. Ran out of towels for our rooms and got some the following day. Having been now to what I was expecting to be a 5 star top notch resort, I'm saddened to report it is not. I sincerely hope they correct this and regain their status. If you expect 3.5 to 4 then you'll be satisfied. I feel we paid too much for what we received.

Barcelo Solymar: Barcelona solymar

From the moment we drove up I was slightly optimistic with the bright exterior colors. My party vacationed from feb 17-24,2020 We arrived late due to flight delay. Once we checked in staff was not that friendly but tired... which we later found out the entire staff is older and exhausted. Entertainment was minimal and I’d rate it a 1 star for rooms in hotel 2 star for Bungalow rooms 5 Pool 2 fountain broke, lights not working, no music and pool bar below service level was the pits . Re [... read more]sort had no wine for sangria drinks. During the week the hotel Was repainted as it went under new management!!! If your looking for a 2 star hotel close to downtown then it’s your place. If you really want service and resort feel you will have to go up the strip towards the marina if you really want a good experience. Previous trips to varadero was to the hotels up the strip and were always happy happy times. This resort was a huge let down and recommended if you like young kids wanting to drink n party with no concern for looks and friendliness. Food was like being at a camp :( again so sad to see everything exhausted including staff.

Grand Memories Varadero: Sunshine in February

All in all a beautiful experience. The beach, pool and buffet were great. My complaints would be the distance from my room to the beach and buffet - about a 4 or 5 minute walk to each - hard on my feet. Big resort so there were long lines for service at bars, reception. Also, the beach area was separated for Diamond Club so we others were crowded together and further down the beach. Would not recommend.

Club Tropical: not so great

We spent week here, we were in the jail or dungon. the new part of hotel was much nicer. The foods was hit and miss. The beach and ocean were wonderful. location was nice cause it was on the strip but the street noise was constant.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Another wonderful visit

This was our 10th trip to Cuba and our 5th visit to the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar. We have another wonderful vacation. The weather was fantastic and we had a lovely ocean view in the building we had requested. It was wonderful to see old friends, such as Liuba, Diane and Luisa who served us during breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed catching up with Yusmila in the piano bar and we had 2 incredible meals cooked by Evelio at the Sakura Japanese Restaurant (one was the teppanyaki style and the other w [... read more]as a personal sushi dinner for the two of us). He has served us every visit and he puts on a great show with delicious food. We ate at several a la carte restaurants and some were better than the others. We enjoyed the Japanese, French and Cuban. The buffet offers a large selection so you will never go hungry! The only disappointment was the lack of wine. We could buy wine at the restaurants but there was no house wine available. We did not like that we had to pay at an all-inclusive but this was a small detail. Our room was always clean, and one night we did not have clean towels, as they had not been delivered, however as soon as they arrived the house keeper brought them to our room. The staff at the resort is incredible. They are always smiling and ready to assist you. You will never have to wait long for any service. The resort is clean and the beach is really nice. We never had an issue finding a great spot on the beach. This was our first time in February as we normally go in April. There was more sea grass than normal but it never bothered anyone. My husband and I always recommend this resort for a relaxing adult’s only experience. We look forward to our next trip to this resort.

Melia Marina Varadero: Not good

Everything was in poor condition. Cracked tiles on grounds. Food didn't seem to be replenished during meals when they were empty. Specialty restaurants had very slow service. A lot of things on the menu were not available. Seemed to have run out of wine late in the week. Coffee in room was only replaced once and there was no sugar or milk. I have been to Cuba a number of times and this was the worst resort I have stayed at.

Sol Palmeras: Love the Resort

We have been to this resort many times we absolutely love it, for us it is home away from home. The staff is amazing, friendly and very helpful. There is plenty of entertainment all day and evening. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Hotel Los Cactus: Great vacation in Cuba

We have stayed at this hotel 8 times. We also book the gardenview suites. The staff is excellent. The food is average as is expected in Cuba. They run out of things but usually arrive again a few days later. The beach is spectacular and pool is nice too.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awesome time!

I had a lovely time at this resort with my friends! Beach was beautiful, 2 pools and swim up bars, nice selection of drinks. A good nightlife disco and entertainment. Go to the Italian al carte for good pizza. Rooms had some small issues but nothing major (friends tv didn’t work) but who watches tv on vacation anyways! Would go back!

Melia Las Americas: Amazing vacation!

Our stay wa amazing. I loved this resort, the service we received was so great. We had beautiful rooms in the bungalows but asked to be closer to the main hotel for mobility reasons and were accommodated right away. We never had a bad meal and loved the 2 a la carte restaurants we went to, our favorite was the grill. Pools are amazing, the one near the bungalow was closed for renovations and only opened up or last day there but the were never any issues with crowding at the other 2 poo [... read more]ls, likely due to the fabulous long, deep, beautiful sandy beach at this resort with tons of chairs and shade. Golf course was beautiful, greens can be a little rough but totally worth it when you're teeing off with the ocean right there. Already planning to go back to this hotel. Note to sunwing, they misplaced my luggage but as I told the sunwing rep. Stuff happens and it's all about how it's handled and they are great about it.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing resort

The hotel is wonderful. The food is increatable good. The staff was superb. The beach and pool are out standing. We are planning to go back next year. The golf course was very good with some good challenge.

Playa Vista Azul: Family vacation...disappointing stay at hotel

This was our 5th trip to Cuba, our first to Varadero, likely our last. We are not picky eaters, we've never had problems finding something to eat at other resorts. However, this was not the case here. The buffet was horrible. Not many options and the food was always cold. For the most part, service in the buffet restaurant was quite slow. There were times we did not even receive water at breakfast or lunch. Beach: Left side of the resort - the beach is cramped. The beach area is narro [... read more]w and there few quite a few huts. The right side beach - a further walk, but much more comfortable to hang out at. Pros: - Ariel at the Beach Restaurant - He is wonderful. He works hard to keep everyone happy. - always found chairs at beach and pool - spacious rooms - friendly staff Cons: -only 2 options for lunch - main buffet or beach buffet - snack bar was a joke. Burgers & hotdogs only. Service was extremely slow. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to get a burger - Mike's Coffee - hit and miss - sometimes coffee was great, other times not even drinkable - most bathrooms had issues, either doors that didn't lock or were not cleaned often - bathroom in hotel room could be more private. Glass wall in shower - not ideal for kids who are sharing a room There are areas of the hotel that are in need of maintenance. Side note - the airport was a complete disaster when we left. We arrived 3 hours prior to our departure. Arrived at 12:10 for a 3:10 flight. We finally made it through security at 2:30 and had to go straight to the gate as the plane was already boarding. Flight was delayed leaving because there were so many passengers still waiting to get through immigration. Like I previously said, we will not return to this hotel or recommend it to friends. We would much prefer to go back to Holguin or Cayo Coco.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good but not great

Firstly, I will say that the hotel was OK for the price we paid. That said, there were many basics lacking, and I don’t know if they were a result of Cuba embargoes or the hotel management. For example, the buffet never had enough dishes, cutlery, fruit or even water to serve the guests. The staff seem to be in a mad scramble to find clean cups to bring guests. Water was very hard to come by, and if you wanted to be served a drink at the buffet - good luck! The staff were friendly enough, but was clear they did not have the tools needed to do their job. Food was decent (for Cuba), but lacking in variety. (Buffet has the same offerings every day for lunch AND dinner). I would recommend only if you are looking for an affordable getaway with great beach... but not if looking for an exceptional experience.

Los Delfines: goood as usual

the hotel was the same as the past years, It is the 8th time we bokk at this place. I understand that the laundry company has problem and the towel where tuff to get, but it hapened previously. This year is a bad year for Cuba and we knew about it before leaving. But at the hotel there alway was something at the buffet that we where able to eat as we wanted. The advantage of the Los Delphines is that it is right in the city and there are restaurant all around that we can eat very well for v [... read more]ary cheap. The ONLY DISADVANTAGE was the return flight which took place in an old Russian or Czechoslovakian plane with the seat broken down, very uncomfortable for a four hour flight. Guy Tremblay

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Great resort

The resort is beautiful and the drinks are great. The staff could be friendlier and it seemed that they were understaffed. The food was also not the greatest but the beautiful beach made up for it. overall great vacation
