Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Excellent experiences and great food / beach

Overall, we had a very lovely experience at this resort for six reasons. First, its beach has very soft sands, and besides its private beach, we can also access to neighboring beaches. It was very romantic to walk along the beaches (as long as you like) for hours. Second, the food at the resort was excellent and clean: we were surprised that we did not have any diarrhea or sickness like our experiences in four/five star hotels in other Caribbean countries, and we enjoy its buffet even mo [... read more]re than its a la carte restaurants because of the wide selection and freshness of the food. The buffet at the Christmas Eve has lobsters, mussels, tons of cold/hot food / dessert selection! Third, since the resort is located inside the park of 10+ other hotels, we got to enjoy the beautiful golf shared by all hotels. It was a very tranquil experience to jog in the morning for a few miles along the golf path. Fourth, we were not pestered for tips. Fifth, we love the biodiversity along the path between the hotel pool and the beach. It was a very enjoyable walk and I love watching the fishes, turtles and birds in the swamp. Last but not least, the magic show was unbelievably amazing! I was never a fan of magic show but I love the one provided by the hotel. However, there are also a few downsides. Only two bottles of water are provided each day at your room; although we spent most of our time outside of our hotel room and have access to water at the bars / restaurants, we also would love to have extra bottles of water at our room and fast room service for water. The city tour was a waste of time and potentially waste of money because it was all about shopping and less about experiencing the culture and beauty of the city, despite that the guide was very funny.

Riu Merengue: Not bad for the price

The hotel room was always kept clean, though the addition of toiletries would be nice and the bathroom is quite dated. We had requested 2 beds as we were travelling with our daughter and got 2 3/4 beds pushed together rather than 2 doubles or a double & a twin. There was never enough bottled water in the room. The beach had a lot of coral and rocks in the shallows, plus it has a major sand bar covered in seaweed so forget about swimming in front of the resort. There was an abundance of beach cha [... read more]irs and natural shade on the beach so it was never a problem to find a place to lounge. I like that drinks were served in washable plastic cups of a decent size or recyclable paper cups *like the eco-friendly approach*. The daytime animation was practically non-existent and the evening shows tended to include quite repetitive dance routines. The bar staff was friendly and efficient. The dining room staff was slow to serve drinks & clear plates. Food was quite good.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: third trip to VH Gran Ventana

Third time back and not disappointed, plan to return. We enjoy the resort size, personable staff, always meet many friendly people, pool and beach in close proximity, safe, clean, food good. Not real upscale, very comfortable and relaxing.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Staff were awesome overall few not great

Rooms in 200 awful leaky ceiling mouldy mosquitos Got moved to 300 room was ok but didnt have any hot or warm water for 3 days finally got moved 3rd time to vip section 400 much better but 4 out of 14 days

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Not impressed

food was very basic, entertainment basic, activities not much. Bar opened at 10. The snack at the beach opened at 12:00, no drinks available after the cafeteria till 10am and if you were thirsty too bad. One day I had acid in my stomach usually a piece of bread helps me, but no food available till 12:00. You could not get your drinks such as juices or soft drinks on your own you had to go to the bar only so if before 10am too bad.

Grounds are nicely manicured, food very good, a great place to relax in the sunshine. Our stay was very good, however they forgot we were returning guests and did not give us the "welcome package" a bit disappointing. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Very nice resort

The rooms were nice and clean The grounds were very well kept. The service was excellent. The food was good. Lots of choices. Pools were nice and the workers were always cleaning the pool and the surrounding area.

I was unsure of this holiday docto is getting a great price over 3 months in advance but it was awesome. Staff was helpful and courteous. Everything was clean and tidy. Entertainment staff was friendly and interactive.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: First-time "resorter"

Reasonable price for all-inclusive get-a-way in the sun. Rooms need updating. Buffet did not always appear to be the freshest (some of the food items). Great to have daily omelette cooked on the spot. Very satisfying. Frustrated with ATM out-of-order (but no signage to indicate same). A-la-carte restaurant dining very enjoyable experience......décor, service, food selection. Friendly, polite staff.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good times had by all ...

We really did enjoy our stay at Be Live! We got good advice from hotel staff and great suggestions for excursions. Activities onsite were frequent and a fun staff organizing competitions, aerobics, dance lessons etc. The grounds staff were always busy ensuring that the whole site was clean, even the public beach (I guess all beaches in the DR are public) was kept very clean! ... oh, and they had a Pasta bar that was Amazing!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Awesome vacation

This is a small but beautiful resort. We were there for a week to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday and were pleasantly surprised to find that most of the resort was on one level which is great for anyone with mobility issues. The staff at the resort go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. We travelled with a group of 22 people and every evening when we went to the buffet they had a table ready to accommodate us! VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great staff !

Hotel was very clean and the staff are amazing. I have Celiac desease and have struck food allergies and was sick at every al la cart we went to but did fine in the buffet if I stuck to the grilled meat and salad. There was a huge selection of food for my family however. The staff treat you like family and are always smiling. Beach is nice. Overall a great 9 day vacation for me and 21 other family members who were celebrating our mothers 90th b-day. Thank you!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice hotel but missing a few essentials.

We had a great time, however there is no swim up bar or lobby bar. It’s was missing a good place to socialize. It was hard to meet new people or chat with them. Happy I wasn’t travelling alone. My bf also got pretty sick on the last day. Something he ate, our guess is chicken. Other than that, the rooms were clean, the food was good, the people are nice for the most part. They took over a lot of pool space and it was a lot more rowdy. Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Average good

This is not a 4 star resort I would rate it a 3 1/2 the staff is what makes it .THe pool is always cold and there is no premium liquor except for vodka. Don't bump up your room or service as it is not worth it we had both types and there was not much difference. If you get it really cheap then go but there are better resorts

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Will go back!

Stayed Dec 4 to 11, 2017. Very clean resort. Courteous, friendly and helpful staff. Japanese restaurant was amazing! Loads of shade and never a problem finding a lounger by the pool or at the beach. Have been to many resorts, this is the first one we said we would return to...we like different places but this one was great.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran Ventana, Puerto Platt

We were very pleased with this hotel.Unfortunately it rained for the first two days. The selection of cold cuts and cheese at lunchtime was poor, sliced processed cheese. Otherwise everything was excellent.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: good value

been here twice in 2 months so I must like it.my Dominican girlfriend gets to stay here for $300 Canadian and she loves it here.going back to Dominican in febuary but staying at my house in santo domingo for 18 days.but will be doing casa marina again later in the year when im only going for a week.we like sosua so this place is right by all the nightlife.for me its perfect.i would recommend it to others

There was literally NOTHING bad we could say about this resort! Food was AMAZING, rooms were always clean and fridge was always stocked, people were so kind and caring. Pools and bathrooms were always clean. Beach was absolutely beautiful. This was a great experience!
