Grand Memories Varadero: grand memories I'd rather forget

First room that was offered to us had no toilet seat, patio door could be opened 2" ajar enough to release the chain that was holding it closed. After complain we got another room that was comparable to other ones. Tube TV's(20"?) had a picture that looked liked a 3D picture not watchable with bare eyes. All the card readers to the rooms dirty and not inviting. Rooms not too bad but looked neglected. Some rooms had no hot water, ours did. Nice vegetation, nice pools and grounds but some pl [... read more]aces a foul smell. Good service at the bars, basically no line ups. Beach was nice, but why not fix the volleyball net post for the guest to enjoy the game. Night entertainment not something that is really worth watching. Food at buffets not tasty and presented in a very unappetizing way. A la carte even worse. All plates and dishes had smudges as if they were not washed. Service at buffets terrible most of the time. Wine tasted watered down. There are better places to stay in this beautiful country. Will not go back to this hotel and do not recommend it.

Memories Jibacoa: A great time.

First time to Memories Jibacoa. I would recommend it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Friends we travelled with have returned many times. There is a great hike close by, a trip into Havana by car is a must, and the jeep tour is a blast visiting the countryside. The a la carte restaurants are great ( I recommend the tuna) and the entertainment staff outstanding. DO NOT lose your beach towel though! I paid 20 pesos on check out. Memories Paraiso: Horrible Resort Would never go back there again

The resort was not a good one at all. We were very disappointed with the service, the rooms, the buffet, food, washrooms, for the money we paid. It was a real rip off. Would not advise anyone to go there as there might be way better places than memories.

Memories Jibacoa: Best staffed resort!

This was my 6th trip to the resort, first as Memories. Small, comfortable and intimate, the staff are always available and eager to please their clients. If you enjoy snorkeling, the reef just off the beach is wonderful.

Memories Jibacoa: Friendly and small

Comfortable rooms, housekeeping great, most of the staff were fabulous, entertainment mediocre, bar drinks satisfactory but nothing special as fruit is very limited. The beach was clean with a good snorkeling reef if the relentless wind diminishes. Food is very disappointing, bland, and limited at times. Overall, very safe and clean but we would rate it as a three star resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Awesome resort!

Memories Flamenco is a great resort. The massive beach is just beautiful. It's awesome for swimming and snorkeling. We wandered to the far end around the bend where there was plentiful ocean life and interesting finds every day in the shallows. The two large pools are fantastic, one with excitement and activity every day, the other for a quieter setting. The pool bar is both dry on one side and a swim up on the other which is really cool. The 24 hour snack restaurant is such a convenience to have especially when you are away with two hungry teen aged boys. Their ham and cheese sandwich and the hot dogs (both grilled) are our recommendations! The buffet is massive which gives ample options. We found the food adequate. The best part of the buffet was the live grill at the back where you can get a fresh omelet or eggs over easy every morning, and fresh grilled meat chicken or fish for lunch and dinner. Had a great week with the family!

Memories Paraiso: Excellent Resort

We went to this resort Jan 5 to Jan 12 for a week as a family. I would like to recommend this resort with a beautiful beach to anyone. Please when you book do it in diamond club it is big advantage than the regular one. We have Bangalore facing the ocean and was very clean with excellent view. Staff from Diamond Club was extraordinary especially young guy by the name Lois.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Terrible resort

This resort is very nicewhenyou walk into lobby, as long as the lights are on because power goes out about 20 times a day! When you walk in their are several ladies behind the desk, none of which acknowledge you until you say something to them (one time was literally 10 minutes while they chatted and laughed amongst each other looking at us) Once out into resort pools are, nice walkways are nice but garbage cans and light fixtures are smashed and laying on their sides. Washrooms are disgusting [... read more] doors broken off toilet stall. Always urnals out of order, one urnal ran the entire trip. Rooms were moldy and falling apart, no hot water after three days. Staff were nice besides the ladies at the front desk. Food was very hit and miss, mostly miss. Clenliness was nothing when it came too dishware and silverware, if something wasn't used at your table they would just replace what was used. A glass was broken in the lounge one night, next night the glass was still their. Overall we made the best of this trip and met alot of really great people but would never go back to this resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful Resort

We've just returned on Jan 10 from a one week stay at the memories flamenco and can't say enough good things about the resort. Being our third trip to Cuba we weren't expecting the greatest food but to our surprise the food was the best we've had while visiting the country. There was a variety of foods and grilling stations so there was always something to choose from. The a la cartes were good too! The grounds are beautiful. I do not believe I've seen flowers all over a resort in this magnitude before. Everywhere you looked there was at least one bush with flowers whereas other resorts it seems they pick the flowers so you don't really see them like this. Gardeners were out every day trimming and tidying the bushes. The beach is stunning. We are not typically beach people but after spending an afternoon at the beach we went there the next two days. The snorkelling was fun and we saw crabs, live sand dollars, small schools of fish along with needle nose fish all within a few metres of the shoreline. Hillary in the lobby bar was a treat to get every morning for coffee. She was very friendly and helpful. She seemed to know when to come back to see if we would like anything else a lot quicker than some of the others. Now for the martini bar......a first for myself at a resort south. Yoel was working the martini bar for most of the time we were there and I must say he did a great job! He was friendly and personable even when it was busy. We tried so many types but I would say our favourite was the Pink Lady. The chocolate and coffee were runners up. There was a couple nights were they couldn't open up because of the wind but when they were open they always had a line up. We booked diamond club for our stay and dealt quite a bit with Dalien(I believe that's the spelling) at the diamond club counter. She was always a pleasure and very helpful to our needs. Whenever we had a question she had the answer which is nice when your away on vacation. The one thing I was impressed with was that Dalien would ask if everything was good and if we were enjoying ourselves. On other resorts you do not always get asked but this is not the case here. The only sour note I have is upon check out, (diamond club is given a 2pm check out which was nice as we were not leaving the resort until 6pm) we had purchased coffee through the hotel so we had to pay for the coffee but as a result we were told by the female (not Dalien) the we could not check out with her and had to do the other counter. I understand due to cashes and slips but then when this occurred we went from no line to a line of four to five people ahead of us. As the luggage area was full due to the later check out we asked her at the diamond club if there was another area or if we could keep them in the diamond club space behind the counter as there were other suitcases. She sighed and said I guess so but there isn't suppose to be any behind here. The question was asked then about what are we suppose to do if the room is full and with a snotty response were told keep them in the lobby that's what others do. We then went and spoke to an employee at the non diamond club counter who stated the luggage was fine where it was and we could leave it. I don't typically line to end a positive experience with a negative but that is what happened right at the end of our trip. Taking out our minor bad experience, we had a wonderful time and if we return to Cuba would definitely consider this resort.

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Nice resort.

The resort is very well laid out and the staff are accommodating. Some of the staff were amazing and the FRAN group (Julie and Antoine) were great with their activities for children and adults. To be honest, I much prefer the low key atmosphere of Memories to Royalton. The pool bar manager Ramone and his staff were loveable as was Pedro of the hotel entertainment group. Not being a "demanding" eater, I found the food and drink good (but difficult to handle due to the "all-inclusive" aspect). Pina Coladas and Rum - ouch!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Not as Advertised

Memories Caribe Cayo Coco Travelled with Sunwing from Toronto for 10 days from December 30, 2016 to January 9th, 2017 Pros - 30 minutes from the airport - no young children - fast check in at reception - got the renovated room that we requested - beautiful grounds - beautiful beach - lots of beach chairs and shade - excellent beach drink service (Yaxel was amazing!) - big pool with lots of chairs - good pizza at the beach - free safe in the room - nice flat screen tv in renov [... read more]ated room - rooms are clean - drinking water, toilet paper and towels replenished - buffet was good but the same every day - Cuban and Asian restaurants were decent - updated air conditioners in most rooms - service in buffet was good - service in piano bar was good Cons - renovated rooms have no patio furniture (told it had not arrived yet) - no bathroom doors (poor design) - no coffee makers in renovated rooms and not available when requested - no hot water on several days - no water at all on some days - lost hydro on several occasions - too many renovations going on - large beach restaurant closed and being used for storage - disco closed - spa closed - lookout tower closed - pool bar and large pool snack bar were closed for half the vacation - not enough public washrooms as several were closed for renovations - dirty and old - ran out of certain alcohol at the beach but it was available if you were Diamond club - due to ongoing problems in our renovated room we were moved to one of the duplex bungalows which was much better but it is always a hassle to have to move Summary This resort will probably be good once all the renovations are complete however, in the meantime, it feels like you are not getting the vacation that you are being sold or are expecting to receive. If you got an amazing price, and know in advance what to expect, then you should be okay with the resort.

Memories Paraiso: First and last time

The best part of this resort is only the beach I would say. The rooms and resort itself is falling apart. We had cockroaches in our rooms at one point and just uncleanliness around the resort. Our original room the lights tv and outlets didn't work so we had to be moved. We could not get towels any time of the day and we were all covered in sand flea bites. Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Love to splash at Splash

What a great first trip to Punta cana! Had the best located room near the water park which the kids loved. The staff were all awesome, esp Ramon the baretender and the entertainment staff. Love the beach and pools. Great entertainment. bartender

We went with my grandchildren to memories splash punta cana and had a wonderful time. I've been to other resorts in Punta cana but this was by far the most fun! Great food, room and the water park was terrific for the kids!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good Resort

For a 4 star is was okay. I was upset when I arrived at the hotel at 1am in the morning and only on receptionist was there to give us our rooms. She took the drunk young kids first who took so long. While my kids where dead tired and running around. Once we got to the hotel room we had no hot water for a shower, and when I went to call the front desk, the phone didn't work. Half the number keys were missing. The bed smelt awful and we froze due to the AC being on all night, but wasn't comfortabl [... read more]e sleeping with the sliding door open. The next day they told someone will fix the hot water. By 7pm no one did and they told me to shower else where throughout the week. I freaked and demanded a new room. I did get one and much nicer. The spa sucked. I used it before our flight. I got only one towel for the three of us, my daughter slipped on the ceramic tile due to all the water. no hot water in the spa. no hair dryer....nothing. Otherwise it was nice. Great entertainment team and beautiful beach. Some drink kid stole my beach towel and I did tell the front desk so I wouldn't be charged. Security box in the room didn't work.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Lovely time!

Hotel is somewhat dated and in need of updating but it's clean and staff are friendly. Food was excellent, always something available to eat. They do need to replace outdoor lighting, very dark at night made it hard to find your way around safely. Overall a lovely stay.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Dated, not a 4 star

Me and my had a fantastic time together without the kids but felt cheated with what we paid to go there and what we got. The hotel is under renovation which is fine We got an older room. The washroom was full of mold and tiny bugs on countertop. They always forget to bring toilet paper The food is the same everyday. We ate from the grill but still the same for lunch and dinner. Beach is nice We were able to change beach towel only once and on the last day. Public washrooms by the beach, pool and restaurants were closed most of the time and if opened were filthy Pool is nice but we never swam in it. Swimup bar was closed. The drinks were made with cheap alcohol Spa is non-existent. They have tennis court and basketball court without basketball rim and net. The ground of the resort is beautiful

Grand Memories Varadero: worst resort we ever been to!!!

1. check in over one hour. There were over 100 people long line up however only 2 front desk staff who really weren't efficient at all, so I could see all those guest's frustrations and anger....we were so lucky that we were at front of line. 2.room extremely dirty. there were couple pieces of bread and bunch of hairs on the floor and all dark color furniture surface was all white that I could write with my finger. there weren't beach towels nor bottle of water. next morning, I found there is  [... read more]no hot water, so we had to take cold shower. I went to talk with front desk, customer service desk, manager, sunwing staff and sunwing desk. finally they changed our room however again there was no hot water so we had to have cold shower whole time while we were there. 3. Long lineups for everything including check in, bars, money exchanging, restaurant booking, buffet restaurants, toilets, towel exchange station, etc... 4 Food awfull, we ate three things in a week that we liked 5 we all got sick and had the runs and bad stomach aches which we brought home and suffered for a few days. 6 If this is communism let democracy reign. Staff showed no drive for the better part. 7 Room service non existent, never changed our sheets nor pillow cases, towels even I left all towels on the floor so I expected that they will change but they picked up from floor and put them on the shelf so when I found that next day I left note with towels saying " Please change towels" then yes, they changed our towels to new ones but same time they took all change that we left in our room!!! 8 poor quality drinks, constantly out of ice. 9 most staff are very bad (rude) attitude and I understand and have compassion for them since there are not enough staff to serve all those long frustrated line ups but also I could see the communist attitude that they really don't care because they get same pay anyways doesn't matter of their performance. 10 we had so much fun talking about all those so many complains with other guests at bar, beach, and pool, for example, one night, a couple of ladies told us at bar that all toilet has no toilet seats so they have to lift their bums and most of the time no toilet paper. I told them that after my husband tried 5 different toilets looking for one has toilet paper and still could not find it so he had to go back to room,since then I always carried roll of toilet paper with me. This place is terrible, I hope other resorts will bring guests back but not this one. This hotel is in desperate need of proper hotel management, food and beverage management and housekeeping management. We are extremely disappointed since we paid $6,000 can dollar which is $1500 per person!!! It was total rip off in our opinion. therefor we'll never go back to Cuba!!!

Memories Paraiso: not a good resort would never go back there again.

For the amount charged and the money spent to go to this resort, this was not a very good experience for any of us. The food was not good and there was no fruit available when finished. They did not replenish the food when it was over. The only positive aspect was the beach and the white sands. That was the only good experience we had. Would not recommend this to anyone a big rip off.
