Playa Pesquero: Beautiful place for a vacation!!

This is definitely one of the superior Cuban resorts. Good ambiance, the hotel lobby was amazing. The food was wonderful with an extensive variety served in both the buffet restaurants and in the a la carte venues. Lots of activities to participate in and the pool and beach were beyond compare. Highly recommended!!!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Had a wonderful time

The resort features were great, beautiful beach with lots of fish to see if you like to snorkel, pools were nice and big, it was clean. Our room was nice, although the "Garden View" was definitely an overstatement. There is a walking trail around the resort which we really enjoyed and lots of fossil hunting to do. What we were surprised by was that there didn't seem to be enough staff...line ups for everything. It could take 20 minutes to get a coffee in the morning while waiting for the  [... read more]buffet to open, then once in the buffet another 20 minute wait in line to get an omelet made. There were times we left a bar and found another one because we waited and waited for a drink, that was disappointing. We will go again to Holguin, Playa Pesquero Beach, but not to Blau Costa Verde. Playa Pesquero: Gorgeous Resort

Beautiful grounds, kept very tidy. Rooms were clean and stocked daily. Gladys our chambermaid was sure a love and so friendly. If we needed anything just had to ask. Food was great, probably the best we have had in Cuba, tried 5 out 7 Specialty Restaurants Tough decision between the Cuban and Caribbean. Beach was amazing, water just as blue as anything. They have a train that travels the Resort constantly and golf carts if you need a quick ride. Overall this is a fantastic Resort and we will return.

Playa Costa Verde: Best resort yet!

This is our 2nd time at PCV and it was fantastic the only thing our block of rooms are slightly out dated looks like it's ready for renos soon. Staff very friendly people even the other guests great people only encountered 2 rude people.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Disappointing resort

Memories Holguin in Yuraguanal Beach: the resort is ok but quiet old not a 4*. Went there mid-January We changed room since I asked for a top level room and did not get it, but it was unpleasant and we had to insist so we spent our first day waiting around :-( Customer service is pretty bad. Room was not so great and cleaning ladies did minimum to accomodate us.The sheet were not large enough for the bed!!! Asked few times for them to fix the problem. Shower :no hot water for the whole week This hotel is on the forest so expect some ugly bugs in your room (no cucarachas, no bed bugs) even though we asked for fumigacion in the bathroom. In general employee in this hotel do the minimum.We use to tip but not here. Exception: people from buffet/restaurant close by the beach are fun. We had a lovely lobster supper. Beach is fine One group of music was really good sorry I can't named them. We use to go to Sol Luna Rio y Mares a 3* and we really preferred it : much nicer people, atmosphere, food, and grounds.

Playa Pesquero: Great vacation

Sure you have heard how great the beaches are & that they were. The food was not bad at all. The employees were very nice & worked hard to make sure things were cleaned. The rooms however were a bit tired meaning that they could use some repairs. The only disappointment we had was we were not informed that the dance club was under renovation & would not be opened for a number of months. With that information we may not have chosen this hotel for our vacation. Luckily we met som [... read more]e musicians from Toronto Canada who had taken their guitars & helped with the entertainment. Late one night I was walking back to my room. One of the security staff followed me back (I was by myself). He scared me. As I was approaching our building he asked me to wait for him. Luckily I had my key in my hand & quickly went to the door closing it behind me. The next day I was telling some guests I had met & discovered a security man the same night went to her door asking for a drink & smoke. She told me she was frightened by this experience. All guests should be able to feel safe while staying at the resort.

Sol Turquesa Beach: NEEDS UPDATING

Downside: We found this resort is in need of a lot of upgrading, it seems tired. We were in room 126 near the lobby. The bathroom water pressure was sometimes absent as well as hot water. The beds were horribly hard. There was a lot of sewer smell in different areas of resort. Food was mediocre. A lot of the same foods at Buffet. Broken items are not fixed. Cat's present throughout resort especially at restaurants. We would not consider this a 4+ star resort more like a 3.5 Upside:  [... read more]The weather was fantastic, Staff were extremely friendly and we felt completely safe here(the patio door did not lock and i left the safe open for two days...no problem). Pools were very clean as well as the bathrooms all over(except the smell). The nightly entertainment was very good. Great coffee. Good selection of off resort tours.

Playa Pesquero: Amazing resort

Just came back from a week at Playa Pesquero, the beach was superb, not crowded and no problems getting beach chairs and towels. The pool area was huge with plenty of space to relax, the bars were well located and the staff were exceptionally friendly throughout the resort.The bathrooms were clean and maintained. The rooms were very clean and a nice size. I can't say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff at the Pasquero are. I would highly recommend this resort, we had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go back

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort but toobig

Nice Resort but too big. My wife and I left for Holquin in Cuba on 14 Feb 2017. Sunwing, as compared to previous years, this year seems to have their act together and are on time. Check in at Ottawa as well as emigration in Cuba was fast and efficient. The rep from Sunwing was present and guided us to our bus. We arrived at the hotel at 12.30 HRS, We had purchased Diamond club privileges and were greeted by the rep and escorted to the Diamond club lounge, were refreshment were waiting for us.  [... read more]After a brief introduction we were driven to our room, which was ready on arrival. Our room was spacious and clean, everything in working order and the fridge was filled with water, beer and soft drinks as well as alcohol in a dispenser cabinet. Everything was done efficiently and professional. The hotel had 1000 guests with many children, way too many for our liking. Diamond club members had a spacious area assigned for club members at the beach, with comfortable chairs, a private bar and waiter service. The beach is white sand and the water was relatively warm for the time of the year. The grounds are well maintained with many flowers. We had a choice of 5 a la card restaurants. My wife has allergies so we mainly ate at the buffet restaurant. The food was very good, however no matter what you needed their were always line ups. Diamond club had an area assigned for members only in the dining hall. The area was a little less grouted. The waiters and support personal are always friendly, helpful and cheerful. This, in my opinion, is the greatest asset when travelling to Cuba besides the sunshine. Entertainment in the evening was spotty. Some evenings the entertainment was excellent other times except for the show was none existent. The shows were professional and well performed. The lady who played at the piano bar was areal crowed pleaser and we could even dance to her music. The bad things at this hotel, there are too many people, too many children and no matter were you went you had to climb stairs, and many of them. This definitely is not a resort for older people or people who have difficulties getting around. We had no hot water for 6 days, but we have traveled to Cuba many times and that happens sometimes there. In conclusion we had a nice vacation with beautiful weather, good food and nice people. To purchase the Diamond club privileges were well worth the money, if for nothing else as the extra space at the beach. Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Another great vacation to Club Amigo

Every year for the last 7 I see improvements to this great vacation resort. Food is better, beaches are great, people are amazing. Bungalow area had a big over hall with a new swim-up bar ready to open very soon and new landscaping all around the pool. Ongoing improvement everywhere...will be back next year.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Villa Experience

We had a large spacious room in Villa #9 which is central to the grounds.Enjoyed the patio mornings to watch tennis players or catch the rising sun. It was also close to the beach and main hotel. The room was clean and everything worked. Happy to have hot water ! Our maid service was excellent.The villa bar and pool area are very relaxing and quieter than the main pool area near the hotel.

Brisas Covarrubias: Nice resort

This place is low-key, not very commercial, isolated, very very nice staff, gorgeous beach, ok food - not great for vegetarians, but workable. Lucky for me it was papaya season! The buffet is indoors which was disappointing to me, especially since you can't see through the tinted windows at night as they turn into mirrors! No sandfleas, few mosquitos, but plenty of no-seeums in the mornings. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The house band and other musicians were really wonderful, beautiful voices. The apartments furtherest from the pool and bar are quiet. Cycling was fun and I really enjoyed the drive to and from the airport even though it's a bit far. Lots to look at. I loved that often there were Cuban guests at the resort.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

After being to Cuba several times, this resort is one of the best we have been to. Clean, friendly and the food was excellent. The beach is beautiful. I would definitely go back without any hesitation.

Playa Costa Verde: Amazing Resort!!!!!!

Just returned from my 9th visit to the Playa Costa Verde in Holguin. This is my home away from home resort.....The weather was amazing and the resort improves evey time....So many upgrades done here every time....The food, service, entertainment is the best. Rooms still need some upgrading however the cleanliness is beyond expectations.....The staff is amazing & will do anything to make your stay wonderful!!!!! Looking forward to returning again very soon :)

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great spot stayed in the villa by the beach

Very nice place had a great time staff was amazing food was great can't beat 15 paso lobster dinners walking distance to the local market with lots of vendors great little bar thier too gorgeous spot lots of shad

Brisas Guardalavaca: Extremely Relaxing Experience

Well kept resort. Staff is constantly working on updating something and seem to be very proud of the property and their work. We stayed in the Villa section which is very quiet and a completely different experience to the hotel and was just what we wanted. Food was good, entertainment was good and people/staff were outstanding. The beach and the area in general was the highlight. Don Lino Hotel: The worst hotel I have ever stayed at in 41 years of travelling

We absolutely hated it. Please read our review on Tripadvisor my posting name is K8tieM. This hotel should be taken off of your website. There's poop everywhere, dead animals on the property, the staff are indifferent, especially if one doesn't bring them lots of presents or tip large. They tried to refuse me water. Playa Pesquero: Will return

Excellent service. Great layout. Beautiful beach that was not crowded. Food was great. Ice cream parlour was a regular stop to and from the beach. Rooms were big and spacious, not modern, but had everything you needed - hot water, flushing toilets, comfortable bed and pillows (!!). No bugs or roaches. Already planning to return.

Playa Pesquero: Nice Resort

Overall, our vacation was a good one. The resort was clean, the staff were attentive, the food was ok and the weather was perfect. The downside of our vacation was mostly that the resort lobby was constantly filled with smoke from the many smokers there. You could not escape smokers. It was like this from Saturday until about Wednesday when the bulk of the smokers left. The constant smoking everywhere made for a most unpleasant time for us.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Average Resort

This was my first time in Cuba but I had been told what to expect. Having been to the Dominican and Jamaica, I knew to expect slightly lower standards here and i'm glad I did. The resort is undergoing some renovations which are definitely necessary. The hotel is dated in most areas. I'd give it a 3/5. We had no hot water and had to switch rooms and once we did it was a little better... but still not what you would expect from a supposed 4 star resort. The food was lacking also. Not a lot of variety from day to day at the buffet, and the two a la cartes we tried were average. The pool was well maintained so no complaints there. And the beach was beautiful. Probably the best part of the resort in my opinion. Overall we MAY try Cuba again but definitely pay for a 5 star as I think that would be more comparable to what we are used to in other countries.
