Melia Varadero: Good.

Hotel staff friendly, beautiful beach, fun entertainers. Dwayne Wade would give this a 9/10 but i would give it a 9.3 at least. On an additional note, bring ketchup packs and hot sauce with you and your own sunblock unless you are trying to pay $20 for a bottle of it.

Melia Las Antillas: Very friendly people

Room nice pool great weather great service great food not so hot great location had no issues beach was beautiful bar very well stocked they were running out of food daily had to hit buffet early to get any half decent food service very good was able to pay 8 bucks to keep room for extra time which was nice it was my first time to Cuba will I go back absolutely not

Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories to be made, but not in the rooms!

Overall had a great time and made some wonderful memories with friends! I did come across many issues with the resort itself though. When we checked in as a group in 9, they had my group on the opposite end of the resort with ocean views while they put me away from them with no view. I was disappointed to have to go to the front and fight to be close to my friends. When I got into my new room the sheets were discusting! Blood stains, hair and dirt stains! The rooms were very old and each one of our rooms had something broken: The toilet, the mirror, tv, door locks or bed in each of the rooms. Not a very clean resort I would say. I would recommend diamond club if going! If you aren’t there are massive lines for the buffet. I found the food to be as expected for cuba, not amazing but edible. Our server Jamie was fantastic! The sweetest and most attentive server full of energy and joy. As for the rest of the servers they were terrible! Completely unnatentive and took 20 minutes just for water. We got up half the time to get coffees since they were no where to be found. I expected high quality and friendly service from the rest of the staff. I found the memories in Santa Maria, Cuba to be much friendlier and very clean. The washrooms were half the time clean and always out of toilet paper so be sure to bring a roll. The beaches were incredible and stunning! Very good entertainment and fun activities at the resort. Overall had a excellent time and a nice vacation with my group, but the resort itself I won’t return to.

Melia Marina Varadero: Horrified Experience

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. No towels, no cups, raw chicken served to us, service was horrible, staff were so rude, the beach wasn’t maintained, hotel managers avoided you like the plague, wifi only in the lobby which you need to pay for. Honestly everything that could have went wrong went wrong. Please do not go here. I’ve never been so dissatisfied with a vacation. By day two all 5 of us wanted to come home.

Barcelo Solymar: Amazing resort-NOT ANY MORE!

Went to this hotel 5years ago, and was great. Decided to go again this year in February and I made BIG mistake. Hotel is worn out, rooms need to be upgraded,old beds, old mattresses, tiles failing from walls in washrooms, rusted buth tabs. Hallways in the hotel had bad odor stinks like washrooms. Food for breakfast no complain, but to get omelet or scrambled egs wait is 15 min. in line. Lunch and diner they served the same food or what ever is left over from lunch they put back for dinner.They w [... read more]ore doing surveys every week from the guest in the hotel and I thin they got very negative feedback. The only good thing for this is hotel is the beach and the location, center of Varadero close to all the bars, restaurants, clubs, stores and fleamrket, all waking distance.The hotel definitely is not 4 stars as advertised on some web sites.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great stay

Well kept, clean, friendly, safe and good food to choose from. Nice excursions to choose from. Front staff where always very helpful and comprehensive. We did had to exercise patients as line ups for food, coffee, wifi etc.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful grounds & beach

The resort grounds are lovely and so is the beach. However, service ranged from the very good, such as that of our hotel maid, to the very bad. For example, we complained 3 times to get water to our room, reassured each time, but getting water only after the third complaint. Food was hit and miss. For example I ordered a beef loin steak at the Bsmboo restaurant that was tougher than shoe leather. I couldn't cut it with a knife and was impossible to chew. The same applies to the buffet. Imagine, red wine available at the Japanese restaurant, with excellent service and food, but not at the Italian one, with mediocre service and unappetizing food to boot. The air conditioning in our room was so bad that clothes in our closet were damp to the touch. We essentially got cold air but no moisture removal. In general, we found many staff motivated, friendly and accommodating, while others were just putting in time.

Starfish Jibacoa: "Nice 2nd. visit"

The bungalo,s are great, guiet , but my 1st night had a swarm of bees in my room as there is a dead tree about 10 feet from the front door and had bees living in it, I left the outside and inside light on after supper and when I returned and opened the door ,saw about 75 bees around the inside light and many dead on the floor. I called the front desk and very promptly sent someone to spray, but had to sit outside for two hours with door,window open and fan going to get the smell out.After that d [... read more]id not leave any lights on and put a towell under door at night. The grounds are well kept and beautiful and the beach is lovely with new beach chairs over last year. The snorkleing in great, but the water was churned up with the winds. Went on the catamaran in Varadero one day, always a thrill for me. The food was not the best, but you won,t starve, as I found breakfast the best. Went twice to the restaurant up the road for lobster, very good. There are a lot of people who come back every year. Also I found that there were more Locals this time, so may not go again around Valentine.s day. A nice time and the weather for 9 days , beautifull and warm not a drop of rain.

Melia Marina Varadero: Room for improvement

As this was our first trip to Cuba, the service at the resort needed work and the proximity and accessibility to the Beach was disappointing. The condo was wonderful and the service improved as the week progressed; however, they had a significant amount of trainees and often times language barriers.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Welcome to Cuba!

I’m giving it 41/2 stars , Cuba rating. I found staff friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean, but the high humidity takes its toll, but I didn’t come to hang out in my room! Poolside clean, beaches beautiful! Food......when in Cuba, eat like a Cuban and you won’t be disappointed! Lots of fruit and veggies, but not as flavourful as we are used to. Havana worth the long day to explore the countries history.( we hired a local, and was very personal and informative!) we went to explore Cuba, the culture, history, food and had a great experience! People are friendly, never did I feel unsafe!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Still Good 2nd Time

2nd time at Melia Pennisula Resort (first visit 2017) and the hotel still was as good as the first time. There were some noticeable improvements to the grounds. Beach was beautiful - always able to find a lounge chair. Pool was good. Pool bar food wasn't as good as the first time however. Service overall was really good - people were very friendly. The evening entertainment was ok. A la carte restaurants were good - enjoyed the Japanese one the most. Buffets were good.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful resort

Really enjoyed this resort. It was smaller than others we have been to but there was always plenty of space and seating in public areas.Room was nice, best shower I've seen in Cuba so far. Love the entertainment at the lobby in the evenings. Went to the spa twice for a massage which was wonderful. The food was typical Cuba, this hotel was no better but no worse than others we're stayed at. Service was very good. I would recommend this hotel.

Club Kawama: Beautiful resort!

Beautiful resort, spread throughout a large territory, beautiful scenery, beachfront. No high-rise buildings. Well maintained. Lots of entertainment - day and night. Rooms are clean, in a good condition. Especially, if you book a "superior" room you'll get a real feeling of colonial style mixed with art-deco, beautiful terraces and view. The buffet offers plenty of fruit and vegetables, fresh and cooked, this was my favourite part. No french fries, just sweet potatoes and fried bananas. Decent [... read more] variety of cooked meals. IMPORTANT: Overheard from tourists there, with food allergies, that there is always food to choose from. Strongly recommend the 2 restaurants ala-carte - El Cubano y El Gran Canal, situated in both ends of the resort. Amazing food! Amazing service! The beach - pure beauty, nothing more to want! The staff is very friendly and always try to accommodate you. For those who look for beautiful beech, space and nature, nice and relaxing vacation I would recommend Kawama!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Letdown bigtime

Was very disappointed,no wine,no vodka,room very tire,refrigerator did not work,towels and room musty,no coffee in room for days,tv beyond old,key in door had to be changed twice,only a 3 star,staff was fair if you could get their attention,check in took about an hour,would not recommend.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Nice resort with some downfalls.

The resort grounds are very nice and well kept by the friendly Garden staff. The building is also very nice and clean for the most part but is showing signs of wear and tear in the rooms such as dirty areas on doors and trim, a bit of mold in the bathtub corners and tile grout, broken patio door lock and patio furniture etc. They sometimes have issues with laundry and towels and run into shortages here and there. Lots of selection but lackluster in taste. The cakes and desserts all look so delicious but very bland. The pasta bar is a good option and made for you at time of request with three types of pasta to choose from, three sauces and a variety of ingredients to add. I only saw ketchup and mustard as far as condiments go. No steak sauce or BBQ etc. The restaurant by the beach is also very decent. The snack bar at the main pool had a long wait for our food and it was so-so. Don't be fooled when the menu says french fries as 90% of the time they don't actually have any. As far as getting their CUC currency you can get it at the airport or the hotel. The hotel rarely had small change making it hard for us to tip the maids and wait staff at meals. We ended up withdrawing money from the bank in Havana for small change for tipping as the resort was unreliable. If you purchase cigars make sure to do so from a legitimate store and not an employee at the resort as you will most likely be sold fake Cohibas because they think you won't know any better. The staff overall is very friendly and the Butlers in the privilege section are fantastic and very attentive. The Privilege pool is private, quiet and not crowded at all. We preferred this to the main pool that was crowded and noisy. The beach is nice but not the greatest. Lots of loungers and shade access but the Privilege section has big rocks and makes it dangerous for swimming in that area. The regular section has no rocks but a lot of seashells washed up making it not ideal for walking barefoot at risk of being cut on the sharp shells. Overall is was a decent stay with a few hiccups here and there.

Playa Vista Azul: Friendly Resort

The resort was super clean and very nice staff. I went with three other friends and had a lot of fun. There was always fun music around the resort. The beach was really nice and very well kept. Would recommend for a couples trip.

Starfish Varadero: Caring Staff

This hotel has had a lot of updates over the last 5 years, we always look forward to returning and seeing the new improvements. The beach, the grounds and common ares are all well taken care of. We stay in the bungalows and it offers a lot of privacy if your looking for this.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Resort was ok

The hotel itself was nice. The people are super friendly and always smiling. Would rather of had a piece of cardboard to eat than the food. We were unable to get towels and clean bedding for a few days as there was issues with the laundry. Also was unable to get currency from reception if needed, the kept saying that the bank hasn't been yet. Personally I would not stay at this resort again

Melia Internacional: Great resort!

Excellent grounds, well taken care off and laid out. We are beach people, and we were happy with the quality of the beach and water access, also plenty of beach chairs and great personalized umbrella service. The restaurants offer a good variation of menus - considering that generally Cuba is not known for it's food quality - we were pleased with the offering. The so called Cuban theme restaurant close to the beach has grills going every day at lunch with all expected meats. Excellent bar scene, with individual shows every evening and good service. The rooms perfect, nice walk in showers, good access with plenty of working elevators and daily turn down and towel service. General amenities excellent. Overall we felt it was an great vacation.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good Value For Your Money

This hotel was fairly good for the price we paid. The pools and beach were clean with good sitting areas. The staff was friendly but reception was rarely helpful and we had a hard time getting bottled water the entire time. The food at the resort was better than expected which was a pleasant surprise. Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel to a friend :)
