Melia Internacional: The Level 18+ is Worth It

First Time in Cuba. We stayed in an Ocean View Junior Suite in The Level 18+ section. We believe the upgrade was worth every penny. Impeccable service.Sprawling beach front. Our room (9313) was spacious with a spectacular view. The shower was spa-like. Towels, including face cloths, were plentiful. Toilet paper was one-ply, as we had expected, so we brought our own. Food was better than expected. My husband is a meat eater. I'm a vegetarian. We never went hungry. Live music every day! Saxophone, Piano, Flute, not to mention the trio that went around the property singing filled our souls with joy! We didn't see any of the evening shows, so I can't comment on this. We spent our evenings at our rooftop bar, called Capri. Watching the sunset with a tasty drink in hand, was magnificent. If you're planning a stay here, splurge and get The Level 18+. You won't regret it.

Melia Costa Rey: Collections side, wonderful ?

This is our third time here and will definitely return. Our stay was 10 days this time and would do this again. Beach is amazing. Staff is wonderful. Always kept clean!! We got lucky with weather also… beautiful and sunny everyday

Hotel Blau Las Morlas Varadero Beach: Hidden Gem!

This resort is on the smaller size but the people that work there are very friendly and helpful and the beach is the best I have ever seen. The water is so crystal clear, it's like swimming in a giant pool! The sand is soft and there is hardly any seaweed. Perfect place for couples who just want to relax by the water all day and enjoy a quiet drink at night.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Excellent resort

We were very pleased with the accommodations and the hospitality. Especially happy with the service of the staff. All were pleasant and helpful. We woukd recommend to others and already have. The air travel went smoothly . No problem with luggage. We were happy to have our family with us to add to the joy of a relaxing week in a beautiful island.

Melia Las Dunas: Amazing beach

Drive from Airport is 1:30 min, gives you a chance to see the villages on the way. Beach is amazing, food was nothing too exciting, we only had eggs 2 days out of 7. No shortage of toilet paper, except the lobby’s bathroom. Hot water was not available most days. Not enough beach chairs and shades during march break people used to reserve them as early as 4 am. Take snacks in case they run out of food. Staff are very kind and friendly. Place was nice and clean.

Playa Vista Azul: Very bad hotel

Food, rooms, waiter, cleanliness, long distance to the beach, cockroaches everywhere, no activity whatsoever…they clean all the dishes in one bucket by hand, the room shower broken and also the washroom door, the tv was broken and a very strong smell of mould. Please stop sending people to this hotel.

Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful beach!

This resort is easily on one of the most beautiful beaches we have ever visited. White sand and warm crystal clear water. The staff were kind and helpful and overall, we truly enjoyed our vacation. That being said, we would not return to this resort. For 10 days we didn’t have hot water in our rooms for showers. This is a widespread issue in this resort that has been ongoing for weeks. There are no top sheets on the beds. Just a thin cover that felt more like a tablecloth and a flee [... read more]ce blanket that didn’t look like it was easily washed. The sheets and pillows had an unpleasant odor to them like dirty laundry and towels were in short supply. The grounds were beautiful but maintenance of the buildings and rooms was not great. I assume this is due to the lack of supplies being available to actually maintain the property properly. We didn’t have a bathroom door which seemed to be a fairly common issue. The food choices were minimal and clearly staff did the best they could with what they had. The biggest issue is the main buffet being open air dining. Besides being hot all the time, there were a large number of bugs and birds in and around the food which was very off putting. Hot foods were kept warm but rarely hot, and we were served undercooked pork and chicken more than once. There was no cola, no piña colada’s or daiquiri’s. Sprite, gin and vodka availability varied day to day. We had no eggs for 6 days, no bread/pastries for 3-4 days. The food choices were extremely limited. We are not fussy eaters but it did get difficult to find something to eat. This was common across many different resorts while we were there. Even with all of these issues, we had a great vacation. The beach and water were exceptional but factoring in the cost of this vacation, I think we’ll pick somewhere other than Cuba to visit next.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Wonderful resort!

We had the best time at the Royalton in Cayo Santa Maria. The attention to detail and customer service is second to none. The food was excellent with numerous options each day. The beach is amazing and there was never an issue finding lounge chairs or a cabana for the day. This hotel provides each room with butler service. The butlers go out of their way to attend to all of your needs and the managers are constantly checking in with all guests. We will return without question!

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: A hotel that lives up to its name.

My review and impressions are based on my many trips to Cuba and all the hotels I have stayed at in Varadero and Cayo Coco previously. I stayed at the Grand Aston for 10 days (from early March,2024) and the primary reason I booked my Cuba vacation here was that the hotel was only 4 months old, meaning all the building services were new and operating. The bed linen was another matter which I will mention as a negative. I loved the beach but as many have already mentioned, be prepared to be up extra early if you want a chair. For this reason, I spent most of my time around the pool as there was always a chair (with an umbrella) you could find even around 9-10 am. Unfortunately, if you are looking to get one of the few gazebos by the pool, it is more difficult. The choice and quality of food were alright considering the current economic woes in the country. The restaurant staff (I presume many are still being trained) was attentive and helpful. I did find all the hotel bars (including the pool bar/deck) to have an understaffing situation where you would have to wait a considerable time to get your order. I have read of people having wifi issues within the hotel premises and even their rooms. While, there may be a sporadic signal dropout, acquiring a wifi connection takes but a few seconds and I do not consider this an issue at all. I used my phone very much watching sporting events and YT videos and did not have a data bandwidth limitation or speed degradation. There are many WiFi access points (AP's) throughout the hotel's indoor/outdoor areas. The location of this hotel is extremely close to the city and thus, it is easy to take a trip into Varadero. Be warned the cost of fuel in Cuba has taken a huge jump and cabs can get pricey, but there is always a $5-all-day bus ticket. Overall, my stay at the Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort was very pleasant and I will return to this place soon. I love Cuba and the Cuban people and its rich culture. Overall: 4.5/5

Melia Las Dunas: Terrible resort

Terrible food, very run down, dirty, unsanitary, poor customer service. 2 bath towels for 4 people and we were made to reuse them all week. Shower didn't work, no soap or toilet in any public washroom including the one closest to our buffet. Never any beach or pool loungers available or shade areas left unless you wake up at 5:30am to reserve. Resort is massive and no trolleys. No maps around the resort to help guide you. We had eggs for 2 days then they ran out. No red meat except for a little  [... read more]veal stew 3 times. No fries, burgers, chicken fingers for kids. Most days we waited in 40min line up for pasta station. Buffet didn't have enough seating so we often had to sit separated from our family of 4! This place should not be considered an all inclusive at all. Most mornings all they had was old, stale bread and left over food from dinner the night before. Beach was amazing but besides that-Worst vacation of our lives! I will never go back!!

Starfish Varadero: Will be back!

The room itself was nothing to write home about, but the service was fantastic at every angle. Staff was super accomodating and friendly. We were grateful for the dictor on site, as my daughter left her medication at home. Tour and the bus drivers and guides kept us safe and we felt secure wherever we went. The weather was unbelievable and we enjoyed the adult pool with our fliating devices. Made friends from Canada, and left a few new family members back in Cuba when we left. Playa Pesquero: Good resort

First Time visiting Playa Pesquero, it is a Good Resort Grat beach, for me because I am 72 years old it is to big long walks, my Room was to far from beach, from Towels change, from Laby, okay for young People not for me. Food there a lot of missing things no Eggs no Bacon, frutes only Apples Bacachi and Papaya. Overige all say 3.5 Stars.

Club Kawama: Quaint Resort

The grounds were very nice and they were constantly working to keep it clean and improve. We saw changes in the two weeks we stayed. Dining room was always clean and set up nicely. Was an area to be able to sit outside and eat also. Staff very welcoming and courtieus. Food - well it is cuba and we knew what to expect. Pool was big with lots of loungers around. Could sit in mutted shade, full shade or full sun. Their was also a small pool if wanted to be away from people. Beach was awso [... read more]me and were always loungers. Some trees for natural shade and umbrells. We stayed in the older rooms. They do need some tlc but were adequate. Not their to spend my time in the room. Their was a coffee hut that was available for relaxing with a cup before the dining room opened and no smoking. Coffee was also available in the lobby bar for those who liked to smoke. Nightly entertainment was good. Music be it day or evening was always way too loud.

Starfish Cayo Largo: Relaxing week

Mum and I had a relaxing week at Starfish but I would not recommend for elders. Mum hurt herself a few times tripping on the uneven walkways and trying to get down the bluff to the ocean. We got a gastro from our last breakfast and have been very sick for the last week.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great place

I have spent a great week in Tryp Cayo Coco. It is a beatutiful place. It is an older resort, but very clean and the staff is amazing! The food was great, different, but lots of choices for everyone. The dolphinario is about half an hour bus ride from there and I strongly recommend it. Every night different type of entertainment was provided which was fun!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Amazing resort

The vacation was enjoyable, the hotel is beautiful, and the seaside is wonderful, but there is a major lack of services, such as the service at the bar, which is very slow, and the workers lack experience in dealing with customers and lack a smile. Also, the room services are not cleaned well, and also the problem of sanitation in the bathrooms is also weak, and at peak times the bathroom water is weak. It is very weak and there is also a problem with the internet. There is no internet in the r [... read more]ooms or on the beach and it is also very slow. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: I would go back.

Washrooms on the resort were lacking toilet paper and paper towels. The loungers on the beach could use a upgrade. The beach is second to none anywhere, just beautiful. The issues with food is numerous. E.G. no pizza at Italian restaurant, really? No bacon for breakfast??

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Food not edible, poor service, ants in the room

If you come to Cuba, come for the beach. I strongly recommend bring your own food and towels. The food is not edible. As in literally not edible. There were real eggs once in a week that I was there, but a long line to get them so they ran out. They make omelettes out of powder. There are also no milk products. I do not know what they make the yogurts from, but it’s not edible. Buffet has long lines, they run out of whatever food they have quickly. The ala cart dinners are ridiculous. Waited [... read more] for 1.5 hours at the Italian place for boiled pasta. They gave out stale bread. The meat in the Mexican restaurant was not chewable. There are no juices for the kids, just some flavoured water, which is disgusting. I can go on, but you get the picture. My kids ate ramen noodles that I brought. Service: I asked for a bottle water to come to my room for 3 days. If you want to get a place on the beach you have to grab one at 6 am. All of them are taken if you show up at 9. Same goes for the pool. Bring your own towel. They give you 1 towel card per person, and run out of towels pretty quickly. Entertainment: honestly too loud for me, but tolerable. They have 30 min of dancing for the kids every evening. Nobody goes to the kids club, so do not expect to be able to out the kids in kids club while you have some adult time. Bottom line, this is not a 4 star hotel by Canadian standards. So if you go into it with low expectations, figure out what you can bring in terms of food you can be comfortable.

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Beautiful clean resort

Hotel was nice big rooms beautiful beach is beautiful grounds and beautiful pool. Just a little complaint with the Internet very spotty and intermittent. No real issue with shortage of any type of alcohol. Food was as can be expected for Cuba never an issue with not having enough food available.

Melia Internacional: Amazing resort

The hotel is extremely clean and beautiful. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious The resort is beautiful and clean and the beach is absolutely gorgeous, nothing but white sand and crystal clear water.
