Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Wonderful Resort

The hotel is very large but very easy to get around. Clean as can be everywhere. Easy to get your a la carte reservations and the restaurants were excellent. Enjoyed laying by the beach or around the various pool areas. Excellent resort!!

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Lots of up charges

Resort was great. My only complaint was the frequent attempt to upcharge while there. If you stay at splash you have access to other resort but some restaurants were an additional charge 49$ US per person. We were not aware of this at time of booking as it only said stay at 1play at 2. We were aware before going. There were also people going around talking to kids about activities such as escape room for additional charge. Superbowl party they were trying to charge us for reserve seating  [... read more]then again trying to charge us for premium alcohol. You walk up to bar with all this alcohol displayed and everything you ask for they are trying to charge you. I've never been to an all inclusive where I was constantly being asked to pay for add ons.

Riu Republica: Fun party resort

This place is a party resort, the food and amenities are 4 star not 5. We did have a great time but unfortunately my girlfriend got food poisoning and we both ended up getting COVID-19 after our stay (a real bummer). Also we had 3 days of no hot water, partially working shower head and bugs festering in the coffee machine.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Wonderful resort!!

The hotel and grounds were very clean & spacious. Enjoyed all the different seating areas in the lobby and lounge areas. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beach was clean and beautiful with plenty of lounge chairs to sit in the shade or the sun. Spacious pools with many different areas to choose from for lounging. Food was great. Transportation to and from the resort was seemless.

Breathless Punta Cana Resort: Beautiful resort

The resort is very beautiful, the grounds immaculately kept and clean. I give credit to the incredible staff and their excellent customer service at the restaurants, front desk, serving staff and bars. However, there were some areas that required improvement. We are a couple of seniors and were assigned a room on the 3rd floor, with no elevator. It was a challenge climbing up and down those stairs every day. Some days, they were there in the morning, late afternoon and even at 9:30 at night which was too late. The mini bar in our room was not consistently replenished. Our room was very outdated and the air conditioning was really loud. The jacuzzi on the balcony was very rusted and hardly any water pressure. The tv remote worked inconsistently- we had to call to get new batteries installed and even after then, it still didn't work well. We were in the Xhale club which provided so much better drinks, more quiet and liked the private beach and pool. However, at the large poolside area at the front, there were 2 djs, one at each end of the pool. Both competing with each other as to who played the music loudest which was extremely annoying because you couldn't make out the music was playing-i.e. rap on one end and country music on the other - both blared so loud. If you are the party type and under age40, I would recommend this resort. People were so loud, very drunk - we were woken up several days in a row at 3 am in the morning with loud drunks yelling and screaming at each other as they climbed up the stairs to go to their room. As far as entertainment goes, it was mediocre at best. They need to have more entertainment in the evening, especially at the Xhale club bar. We loved the bar, but there was no music or entertainment there. The restaurants were so-so. Two of the restaurants were never open at all. We enjoyed the French restaurant and the steakhouse. The buffet food was the same every day so we got tired of it.

Occidental Caribe: Deferred Maintenance

This hotel in its prime would have been beautiful. Unfortunately the upkeep on the buildings have not been done and it shows. As for the food reviews - all of what you have read is true. Food is cold, and constantly empty. This is not the hotel for good food!!! Also they don't seem to have a handle on the volume required for the amount of people staying there. The hotel was always running out of dishes, cutlery, tables for patrons [... read more], and when you could find one, it was dirty and you had to try to flag down someone to bus the table for you, and hopefully bring beverages or cutlery. (which, believe me took some effort and time!) Food quality was almost average on it's best day. Don't try the burgers at the pool restaurant - horrendous! A-la-carte? - good luck on getting one, unless you are up and in line on Sunday morning by 6 am...Otherwise you are out of luck! The shows are way too late in the evening (Starting at ten) We did stay up and watch two of them (Circ and Las Vegas show) which were entertaining, but should have been much earlier in the evening for guests to enjoy! The beach is beautiful! Loved walking the stretch daily and the water was amazing as well. It's too bad that the management isn't on top of this, as this is a prime location, and stately looking buildings, it's a shame it's being let go. We would go back to the area, on that beach but not to that hotel again.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Incredible Resort!!!

The hotel grounds and lobby were absolutely beautiful! The food was really good with lots of options. The bartenders were all very sweet and their service was amazing. Our housekeeping lady was always accommodating to our needs and kept our room spotless. Some of the service in the restaurants were poor.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: Beautiful setting but food lacking

Grounds and room beautiful. Unfortunately, 4 of the 5 a la carte restaurants were not great. Only restaurant that was any good was the Surf and Turf. I got food poisoning in the Japanese restaurant. In the buffet I asked for gluten free pasta and it wasn’t so not happy about that!

Ocean El Faro: Nice Resort!

This hotel was very clean. Always taking care of the grounds and the public area. Our rooms were huge and the maid service was good. The food was a bit cold at the buffet. It was hard to book at the restaurants, but the food was excellent. Improvement could be made at the snack bars by the pools, the food was left outside in the heat and not covered. It is a huge resort and their could be more shuttles. The front desk could be more efficient ,we arrived late late at night, 1:30 and they told u [... read more]s on our own to find our room, we were told go straight out the front door if you hit the water you have gone too far. Nice! Our luggage was delivered an hour and half later. Beware when booking trips,we booked through our Air Transat Rep at the hotel, the Catalina Island tour was the worst excursion ever. Do not recommend..... At this resort they were always trying to sell you time shares .(People in white shirts).

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Excellent resort - lots of fun

Resort was nice and modern, rooms were great, pools were nice and the lagoon to swim was excellent. I have been to many resorts in Punta Cana. A special thanks to Danielito and Johnson from the entertainment team. They provided exceptional services. Johnson is pursuing his studies in mechanical engineering- smart, young talented man and although he has only started on the resort approximately one month ago, it seemed like he was a long term pro. As single women travelling, it was nice to have a dance partner outside in the plaza area. I met great people from all over. Primarily Canadians and Quebec and Americans. I have never laughed so much in my life. So much fun. The room service was excellent. Our cleaning lady on the 3 floor of building 11315 in El Beso did special folding of clothing and paid attention to detail. She went above and beyond basic service. Louis and José who drove the carts around the resort always stopped to pick us up. They brought us exactly where we wanted to go. Like every Caribbean resort there is always a few room issues, and our toilet would often not work. I have never seen such quick plumbing services in any other resort. Of course we left a good tip for these guys, which most people forget about. The room bar was stocked every day to our liking. I never had an issue booking an a la carte restaurant but pushed the reservation button exactly at 7 am on the link. In terms of restaurants- The salmon and the Chateaubriand at the Blue Moon international food restaurant were cooked to perfection- not over cooked. My compliments to the Chef, as I am a picky eater and usually only eat at the best restaurants in the city. I read a lot of negative reviews so I was pleasantly surprised. The Sakura Japanese restaurant (our chef was John) was lots of fun and again the food was not over cooked. The portions were huge, but almost all the people finished their plates. I loved the scallops and salmon, but the chicken and beef were also excellent. The Margarita Mexican food was also good and we sat outside which was very pleasant. The best pool for activities and social bar on the el beso adults only side is the back one furthest from the beach. On the el faro side, social is best at the lazy river bar. The lazy river was great. We bought pool hammocks on Amazon and they were great. They are really compact for the suitcase. Never laughed so much- I even lost my voice- first time ever. The Pez restaurant is the quietest and offered a nice buffet pretty much all day long. Some of the evening meals are a la carte and no reservation required. It was quiet there. The meat was cooked to perfection- juicy and not over cooked as most buffets and snack bars. It is on the beach. My girlfriend was alone and fell on the sidewalk in the afternoon and was seriously injured. A worker picked her up and brought her to the Doctor Lorian Peral at the main reception building. She received exceptional care and went by ambulance to the hospital. Almost a dozen head stitches, three fractures in her hands and a finger, and really bruised up. She was not impressed with the hospital or services. She was back that day stitched up and with a cast. Resort staff provided excellent service- the Doctor provided a follow visit the next day and the cleaning lady was really attentive to her needs.

Occidental Caribe: A great week!

Once we arrived at the hotel, there were a few things missing.....we were supposed to receive a welcome drink and priority check in. Once in our room, there was supposed to be a bottle of rum and a coupon for the casino. We did ask for it the next day at the front desk. The coffee maker in the room didn't work. There was a broken lamp and most of the hydro outlets didn't work. The beds were comfortable. The food was good. The resort overall was pretty clean. The nightly entertainment was good.

Ocean El Faro: Good resort

We booked privilege and well worth the money. The resort is clean, party pool is entertaining, staff is very friendly and helpful. Loved our roof top room. The only complaint is that it is very windy. I’m not a beach person but I do like to walk the beach. Went down a couple of times and felt like we were getting pelted by the sand blowing. Other then that it was a lovely resort.

Paradisus Grand Cana: Beautiful resort

The grounds pools and food was amazing. I did not like that we had to shuttle to the ocean. The service was also awesome. Friendly staff . Good times had by all. Great place to visit family had an excellent time .

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Solid Resort

Quite pleased with this resort still. We have been to this complex 4 times and been to ambar twice. Updated rooms are well done. Food is decent and most staff are very good. The app is atrocious before you get there but is useful to track entertainment and alacarte bookings.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro Feb.8-12 Solo traveler

Pros- Beautiful grounds, common areas well kept. Shuttles to and from beach to room to lobby A la cartes were pretty good-Nikkei and Maiko. Buffet was average, fair selection. Service average. Spotty drink service at lobby bar and beach. Cons- Check in took a long time despite being only second in line. Had to change room(75101) due infestation of mosquitoes, lack of clean up of dead mosquitoes after fumigation. Coverlet on bed had black and brown stains, room poorly maintained - chain [... read more] lock on door broken(to be fair, was repaired as soon as I reported that), floors poorly patched, television did not work, large vertical crack in door panel where you could literally see outdoors. Requested all be fixed, and I would stay in the room. Only door chain fixed. Once I discovered the shower leaked exuberantly, flooding the bathroom- that was the last straw. Took 2 days to change rooms. Room 31101 was better, still wouldn't class the room as more than 3+ stars. Beach- Lots of lounges, but very close together as it seems half the beach is gone since I was last there 3 years ago. Usual towel game with the lounges. Relentless vendors on the beach-every few minutes! Took to pretending I was asleep. Pool-difficult to get a lounger during the day Transport to airport-25 minutes late. Made it to my flight with 0 minutes to spare due to long line ups for Swoop check in, security, and emigration. But online E-Ticket for Dominican Republic worked great. Tip- For me, the Grand Bahia app worked the way it was supposed to.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Not great

Definitely not what I expected can’t say I really enjoyed the stay. I’m not picky and I definitely don’t have high standards but the staff and service was no 5 star maybe a 3 star. Many things didn’t work in our room alone then the buffet is probably the worst I’ve experienced on many trips. Pool service is terrible and one morning just before 9 am we witnessed the staff taking towels and tanning lotion Ect back to the towel bar then folding those dirty towels and then proceed to give  [... read more]them out again. Grand Bavaro Princess: Grand Bavaro Princess February 2023

We had an amazing stay at the Grand Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana, on the amazing Bavaro Beach in February 2023. The hotel has been remodelled recently and is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are well appointed with a luxurious feel - all with balconies! The grounds are superb and tended to daily; we love the lush greenery that is everywhere! Beautiful birds - amazing peacocks - everywhere you look! There is an app to download to book the restaurants; we found it difficult to get a decent time; we were unable to book into a few of the restaurants. The food and service was exceptional! We normally do not go to larger resorts, but the Grand Bavaro did not disappoint - there was so much space we never felt like we were too close to other guests! Plenty of palapas on the beach ~ beach service would be nice, but the walk to the bar is not far! A lot of local vendors on the beach but none of them harrassed us; we kindly said no thank you and they moved on. The beach is quite large compared to some neighbouring resorts and very clean!

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: good resort

Staff were very friendly and tried to be as helpful as they could. Most of the entertainment was good. The beach and pools were wonderfully well kept. There were some issue with some of the rooms (all water going out to one building, hot water going out and a leak in one of the rooms). There was a decent variety in the food. It is too bad the neighbouring property was sold to others as going forward people will not be able to use both properties

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Beautiful resort but way too large for my liking

The grounds were beautiful and the resort and rooms were kept very clean. The service was also very good. My only complaint is that the train that takes you to the lobby and beach is sometimes slow and there is a bit of a wait time. We were lucky and were able to access the Melia Caribe side as well which made it easier and closer to go to the buffet but in the future this will not be available. Also there is nowhere on the Adults only side to obtain food or snacks after 11 pm. For these reasons [... read more] we won’t be going back to this hotel. Overall though a very nice hotel.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful Comfortable Resort

We had a junior corner suite Block 63. It was very spacious with king bed. Walk in shower with separate toilet area. Large vanity. Sitting area had a couch and two chairs with small table for eating. Mounted TV swiveled to view in the sitting area. Soaker tub was across from sitting area. We were on 3rd floor, with a huge corner balcony. Sun in the am was great for reading and having coffee. I would request lower floor in future if possible. We were steps away from coffee shop, with seating ins [... read more]ide and out. The lobby was massive with lots of seating and a bar. The main buffet was huge with many choices. There was a large walking path down to the pool that was about a 10 minute walk. The beach was just beyond pool. The waves were fun to swim in. There was lots of seating at both. Loved the speciality restaurants Portofino and Meat that were by the pool. Best to reserve speciality restaurants on arrival they fill quickly. The beach restaurant beside the pool was our preferred buffet restaurant. Room service was great and available 24hrs. Would be nice to have a menu for room service. When doing excursions you sometimes get back late so it was nice to have room service available. Staff were amazing even though there was a little language barrier.
