Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Fantastic Resort

Grounds immaculate and well maintained Food excellent and wide variety Outside Tours (went on one ) excellent Staff just super Entertainment Good Super resort worthy of trip advisor (#1 out of 40 hotels) in Puerto Plata. On our way passed by other resort which seemed not up to par to Iberostar Don't think the resort was 100% according to the no of people in the buffet. Other specialty restaurants available

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: An enjoyable vacation!

The resort was relatively small and not filled to capacity, which had pros and cons. Pros were that it was quite and we really got to know the staff, cons were that all the Ala carte restaurants were not open every night and the buffet was not open for supper. Our first room was a disaster, no A/C, no hot water, and the sink leaked onto the floor. Complained but did not get a functional room until the next day. Second room was great! Breakfast and lunch buffet was good...8 out of 10. Ala c [... read more]arte restaurants were very mediocre...5 out of 10 at best. Beach was nice...pool was nice. Drinks were OK. Best part of the resort was the animation crew (staff responsible for activities); they were all full of energy and a lot of fun. Lots of activities. Overall a good vacation...relaxing and fun!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort!

At this resort there are many pools and restaurants. It is on a large property and has many stairs. Not ideal for anyone with limited mobility. The staff are fantastic. The food is very tasty with no shortage. The beach is warm. Only downfall we experienced was on weekend when locals are admitted, lack of service then. Would definitely return. Rum prices are cheaper at the rum factory. We hired a local guide for $50usd plus tip for 5 people and he took us around to the downtown, rum factory (onl [... read more]y $4 pp), fort and shopping. Definite recommendation!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful and huge. Beaches were clean. There were several pools and bars. I only ate at the main buffet at the front of the resort and it had theme nights so it was nice to have a variety. There was always a few good desserts. We hired a cab to tour the city and shop. It was nice to get out with the locals. I found everything to be every expensive when trying to buy rum or souvenirs even after you had a good tan. The weekends locals were allowed to stay. On these days service and food were lower quality. Rooms were clean and comfy thanks to my made Valentina!! Staff were friends. We did go on a time share tour. Gave us a chance to ride around the huge resort. They gave you a Mickie if rum and a starter bottle of mommajuana. You can only be VIP to have access to golf carts. There are a LOT of stairs so be prepared to put on the miles. All in all I would go again it was a very nice place.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Mediocre

If I have to give a rating of my overall stay based on service, cleanliness and food i'd give it a 5.5. the food was very repetitive, unlike last year everyday the menu changed. I feel like the hotel is so focused on trying to get vip membership by wowing them on big things they're quality for "regular members" is really lacking. Also the cross contamination of foods was no joke. The fish was also uncooked and if asked to cook it longer it became a hassle. The tap in the tub broke as soon as I tried to turn the shower on the first day and did not get fixed til nearly 2 full days after reporting it. The sink drained very slowly and always left residue. I also made a request about that but that never got checked out. HOUSEKEEPING was so rude. They knocked everyday at 8:15 am and then continued knocking basically every 30 minutes until u got up to leave the room. They even went as far as calling the room to wake you up. I am on vacation. Chances are I drank all night and fell asleep a few hours prior. Why keep knocking and waking up your customers? Also on the last night I called the front desk to find out what time our shuttle was coming to get us. They said they didn't know even though there's a book with the disignated times and then when I called the next morning and was told an inaccurate time, nearly missed my flight, and had to pay 60 USD. One last thing that I thought was very unpleasant was the staff constantly pushing sales on you. I picked Lifestyle (Confresi) because I enjoyed my time there last year but I really was not please this year and most likely will not return to any lifestyle resorts in the Dominican Republic when I decide to go back next year.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: beautiful resort.

grounds were well kept and beach was kept clean by staff. negatives about over all stay. 1. no T.V. for first 3 days. 2. trip to hotel took 1 hour and 40 mins. 3. rained 4 days total, but not your fault. 4. my husband slipped and fell 3 times on slippery floor (could not tell difference on wet or shiny floor. 5. sharp 1/2 inch step in bathroom husband cut toe on it, very dangerous step if you did not see it.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great relaxing resort

The staff were great. They did everything they could to make sure things ran smoothly and everyone was doing what they came to do. The excursions through the resort were reasonably priced, could book almost last minute, and very enjoyable. All around, great place to go, whether to relax or have fun.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good resortg

Good resort, Normal food, Good beach and good entertainment. Only one hour of free WIFI and it too is not up to standard. It was off for more than 24 hours. Snack bar is only open till 2 AM not 24 hours.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Nice resort

An understated resort. Cozy and comfortable with all the amenities one requires. This was a return visit and we're sure to return again. My only reccommendation would be signage notifying guests about cash payments required for extras. Safe lock, internet etc. All in all another wonderful stay.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good value

The resort was a great size and excellent for a family vacation. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and adequate. The buffet lacked variety, but the a la carte restaurants were great; particularly the Brazilian restaurant. I got a massage during my stay and they ended up charging me more than what I had originally requested because I asked for more pressure - this is my only negative comment about the resort. Great food, awesome pools, good entertainment-all around perfect vacation! Went with the girl and we all loved this resort!! This is a very good resort, multiple food choices and all were great, none of us had any complaints.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Exceeded My Expectations.

Here's my perspective the rooms were average but served the purpose, a shower and a bed. The housekeeping was thorough and when my AC thermostat broke a replacement was installed in 20min. Good food, nice grounds but a limited drink variety compared to other places I stayed.

This Resort is at the top of my list 4 best resort ever it's close to everything it's clean has pools you're right on the ocean the rooms are lovely the food is great the people are great I would vote this one of the top resorts in Puerto Plata Dominican Republic

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Great Resort !

This was my second trip to this resort and I would recommend it to anyone Staff are friendly and grounds are well maintained. I'm sure the renovations underway will make it even better The only challenge we had was with some of the shuttles the pools were great but it would be nice if the beach was raked.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great time!

Rooms/bathrooms were quite large, rooms were not cleaned verybwell though. Theywould come early for ypur towels and then ypu wouldnt get any back for around 6 hrs. Food at the a la cartes was incredible Buffet, not bad at all, lots of options Loved the grounds! VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great resort for the value

Second time here , it’s clean ,has friendly staff,good food ,nice beach .its not a five star by any means but it’s an affordable nice casual little resort . We have decided that we will book in here once a year for a little getaway.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amasing resort

Very nice resort, quiet and very elegant, very clean. will return foresure. The entertainment was very good and the staff very friendly. Rooms were spacey tho not enough storage. The maid is very honest at one point left my safe open by mistake and nothing was missing. Lots of towels and everyday included face cloths. If you are looking for good food the 4 a la cartes were awsome. Will be back for sure.

We had a beautiful third floor room overlooking the main pool! The food was very good and lots of choice. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We got to know several by their first names. Grounds are well kept and the beach was the best. No debris! We stayed two weeks and celebrated our 47th aniversary in style! This was our second trip in recent years and plan to return soon. Sunscape Puerto Plata: beautiful resort

Super clean, rooms huge, service fantastic, people really nice and helpful. Close to the airport. Lots of trees, shaded beach. Pool area clean, nice chairs. No bracelets and no reservations for the restaurants - unusual and really cool.
