Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good experience

Staff is its best asset. The grounds were kept very clean. Beach amazing. As in all resorts in Cuba, not a lot of food choices. No fresh eggs in 2 weeks we were there. Menu in buffet varied depending on what was available. At times beef,pork or chicken. Pasta every day. Deserts were amazing. We were told by people in club not to pay the extra as there was not any difference in food or other amenities. Check in could improve. They know you are coming , so why do they have to “find”(?) you a roo [... read more]m on their computer. This was our second 2 week trip to the resort and would definitely recommend it.

Playa Pesquero: Very relaxing trip

Our holiday to Playa was great. The resort is safe and beautiful, lots of winding pools with palm trees everywhere. The beach was perfect and swimming in the ocean was easy and fun, the resort is in a large cove and was never too wavy to swim. The dining was just ok, there is an egg shortage in Cuba but there was always lots of other food, bread and pastry, we definitely didn’t go hungry! This is our 2nd visit there and I hope to go next year with the whole family and maybe stay longer!

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Amazing resort

Little bit outdated resort. Everything was exceptional: great, well maintained grounds, clean rooms made every day, great selection of the food and drinks. Every day enogh drinkable water supplied every day in the rooms. Smooth and seamless check in and check out. Something that makes this resort really exceptional is the staff, great people in the restaurants, bars, grounds, maids. We stayed in many resorts in Cuba but never experienced such great service. Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Best Beach for Value!

This resort is a bit of "best kept secret". The beach is beyond expectation. The snorkeling is first class (if you know where to go...). The service is amazing and the whole staff is so attentive and work so hard to show us all a wonderful vacation. The grounds are (to me) the best in all of this area's resorts. Even though some renos are taking place on the Luna side, every effort was made to be as unintrusive as possible. I can't wait to see the results in a (hopefully) return visit! Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Friendly Resort

We just spent two weeks at he Aston Costa Verde Resort and had an amazing vacation. The grounds were so well kept and the staff worked continually to have all the gardens in immaculate condition we stayed in the older rooms, and even though they needed to be updated everything was kept clean and in working order. When we arrived in the early am we were assigned a room that had a strong smell of smoke. We only went to one A La cart and found that the food wasn't any different than the buffet We knew there were shortages in Cuba for food before we left Canada but a few changes would have made our stay more pleasant . There was at each meal pasta stations and We found that the only way to get hot food was to have it prepared at the pasta stations The warming buffets had different choices but we found that the food was always cold. there wasn't enough staff at the buffet and service was sometimes slow. Looking forward to returning another time.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort

Beautiful resort The resort was probably filled to half capacity . Very quiet and relaxing. Our room was huge. 2 levels in each room. Huge comfortable bed and a large sitting room below. Bathroom was large and clean , plenty of towels. Water pressure was good in the morning but lower during the dinner hour when everyone comes in after the ocean or pool time. Still plenty of hot water. Food was plentiful but usually the same thing every night. Lots of fish, pasta, chicken and beef. Roasted pi [... read more]g was carved one night and also a salmon. Plenty of fruit, cheese and desserts. You should never go hungry. Ran out of butter on the second day so when you see some take a few and put them in your room fridge. Staff throughout the resort were great. Very friendly. Not all were expecting a tip but when you do they remember you and fo treat you better. Gardens were beautiful and the gardeners work hard everyday. We are looking foward to going back next year.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: A very Sad experience for my vacation.

The hotel itself was nice. The staff has changed a lot since our last visit 4 years ago. Not as accommodating as previously experiences. Some staff were still great but the newer ones , not so much. While the food in Cuba is never great, this trip was so sad. I felt so bad for the servers, as they had to keep telling everyone they didn’t have any. Very sad and not a pleasant experience. Because I had my purse with me, I was fortunate to have a package of tissues with me. I never left our room without filling my bag. I’m not a drinker but I do like to have a few different drinks when on vacation. They didn’t have the proper alcohol to make the drinks you would ask for. If I expected a piña colada, I would have to ask what is this because it was nothing like it should have been. You might get a glass of wine with dinner but you definitely wouldn’t get a second one, they would run out. Again, not the end of the world but I can’t afford to vacation every year, so I really wanted to enjoy it. I will definitely not return again.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Excellent Resort

I sent a previous review, but I don't think it went through....so here it is again. We spent 10 days at Royalton Sante Maria (March 2024) and were taken back by what we experienced. The resort was more than we expected. Our room was great, very clean and looked after superbly by the cleaning staff. The two butlers we had; Andrew & Ariel were so helpful and provided us with everything we requested. The service staff especially; Leticia & Lilibet at the Eggcelence restaurant were both fantastic s [... read more]ervers. All service people were (English speaking) and conducted themselves perfectly and made your feel most welcome. Special 'kudos' to Leo the Entertainment Manager who turned out to be a super friend. He provided the guests in the main lobby with various entertainment ensembles each night. And, Danillo in the Jungle bar was so nice to us and even provided a cribbage board for me to beat my wife on. The beach area was beyond beautiful - the nicest beach we ever had the chance to enjoy in our 21 yrs of traveling in the Islands. The food was very acceptable. You could always find something that pleased you, especially pizza for lunch and soup for dinner accompanied with various meat / salad selections. Hats off to Alex (resort manager) and his management staff who took total care of everything in making us feel special. Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Absolute Disappointment

The rooms are clean, food is terrible, water is scarce to come by, bottled water must be asked for or bought, towels are non existent, no sodaand zero mixed drink options really other than rum, we literally had zero a la carts, no eggs, booked the spa and was cancelled stating that closed till fixed, everything was cancelled when management showed up No dinner reservations or a la carts No condiments, mustard, relish, ketchup, only mayo - none, not even vinegar Daily No white or red wine No [... read more] liquors , No coffee No eggs the entire time we were there other than powdered Very limited bread, buns & French fries- just depended on the day No hand towels, toilet paper, no face clothes, zero beer in fridges in the room for the entire stay, nor did anyone in the resort No bottled water- house cleaner, room service, bar tenders, there was water available but highly chlorinated to point of making me sick No facial tissues& no napkins/silverware at times Ceiling issues, water issues, running toilets Old in shower ceilings, No pop or soda daily, vermouth, no potatoes, no fresh fruit only canned peaches & pineapple Zero beer or drinks in our room No 24 hour food at snack Bar, no beach grill -the communication, scheduling & supervision at this resort was an absolute nightmare There was a couple days where there was cheese available

Hotel Playa Coco: Amazing resort

Beautiful rooms beautiful staff Beach pristine excellent pools. All in all my two weeks there were excellent no complaints. I would recommend this resort to anyone. Lobby bar staff are amazing. Food at the beach fantastic.

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Beautiful resort!!

The resort was beautiful. Staff went over and above to help you if they could. There were shortages on resort, but we were expecting that. We read up a lot before the trip. Overall....we (6 adults) had a good time. Had no complaints about resort.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Not recommended

Hotel take 2 hours to be accommodated Hygiene problem at buffet since it was an open space where birds an insects with limited amount of food Hotel say the Snack bar open 24/7 (its a joke ) False advertisement about excelsior VIP package No coffee/tea machine at the room Phone is not working and you need to walk to the lobby every time you have issue

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice beach and subpar accommodation

Lets start with the good things; The beach and water are amazing This is the only good thing about this resort that is more like a 2 star not 4 The rooms are really old and un need of renovation, bed sheets stained and with holes. After tipping considerably and asking for new sheets I got ones with fewer stains and only 2 holes. The key to the room stoped working numerous times and every time you need to go to reception to have it reprogrammed. Food is tasteless, deserts are all the same wit [... read more]h different cream on top. You do not go hungry but definitely did not enjoy any dish. The list is too long. I do not consume alcohol so I can not comment on this.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Budget Friendly

The pros: The Beach is absolutely stunning! One of the best beaches I have been on. The staff and entertainment staff are all incredibly friendly! They are the reason people go back. The cons: I will preface this by saying Cuba in general is struggling badly all over. You must bring extra toilet paper with you everywhere. The public washrooms generally run out of toilet paper, and you only get one roll a day in your room. Often the toilet seats are missing, and lightning is poor i [... read more]n many of the restrooms. Lighting at night is lacking, be sure to use a flashlight getting around at night. The buffets are at the lobby, and this is a very large, spread out resort. I would not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Pathways are flat to the buildings, but you have a rough ramp to get to the beach, which would not be wheelchair accessible. Also there are no elevators so ground floor is a must for anyone that can't do stairs. The ground floor balcony door did not have a lock on it either. Bring a pole to block the door. Food is almost the exact same every day. We always had enough food, but absolutely no variation, with the exception of roasted pork one night and the a la cartes. The grounds were not maintained well, long grass, plastic cups and confetti left all over on the way to the beach. The rooms were very basic. While my room was clean and well stocked with water and towels, another in our party had no towels replaced until asked, had to ask for toilet paper and extra water, sand left on the floors and cups were jot replaced, just rinced in the sink and put back. We both tipped well daily, so seems hit and miss depending on your housekeeper on duty.

Hotel Playa Coco: Fabulous Beach and Great Resort!

We had a great visit for the first week in March at this beautiful part of Cayo Coco. This was our second visit to this resort with the last being eight years ago. Despite the hardships in Cuba, the resort was in at least as good and in many areas better condition than our last visit. The room, common areas and pools were clean and well maintained. The food was plentiful, satisfying and there was a good variety. There were shortages which meant no eggs on some days or they ran out of butter [... read more] and wine was hit or miss but that's to be expected with the Cuban economy as it is right now. We did not have any shortages that made us go hungry or not enjoy our trip. The a la carte restaurants were a bit of a disappointment in the choices of food available, again probably due to shortages, but made a nice change from the buffet anyway. Bottled water was available at all times. (We had no shortages of toilet paper or power issues either.) The staff were super friendly with some that made extra efforts to ensure we were having a great time. Elietta at the buffet, George (Jorje?) at the quiet pool bar and our housekeeping staff in building 6 stood out in particular, although everyone we dealt with were very accommodating and helpful. I can't rave enough about the beautiful beach and the opportunities to see sea life (conchs, crabs, many varieties of fish) and birds. You can walk for kilometers either way from the resort before you get to another resort. The resort beach itself was wide and sandy with plenty of chaises and shade. One note is that if you are susceptible to bug bites, be sure to bring plenty of bug spray and benedryl. Though we didn't find there to be a lot of bugs, you are likely to get some bites in the morning or evening without bug spray. Two of the four in our party really reacted to the bites and that took away a bit from their enjoyment. We had perfect weather and a wonderful time and would definitely go back again.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: We had a great time!

Gorgeous beaches, beautiful grounds, fantastic pools, clean and spacious room. Family friendly. If you stick with the Cuban food it is good; the western food could use some improvement. Friendly staff but not always responsive to requests, e.g. asked for pillows for all 4 of us but they never came. Overall, I would go back.

Sol Cayo Santa Maria: Nice small resort.

Rooms very comfortable, freshly renovated ,modern bathrooms, Hot water -no problem. Fantastic beach, with long naturist section. Plenty of palapas and sun beds. Food; repetitive and could use some improvement. Zero eggs for breakfast for whole week. Same everywhere in Cuba. Bar; relaxing but not always fully stock.

Melia Costa Rey: Very nice resort

We loved the hotel, it was clean, staff was very welcoming and the entertainment was very good. The food was good in the buffet and the A la carte were excellent. The room cleaning was excellent. The beach is breath taking. The only down fall was that we didn’t have hot water and when we mentioned it we were offered to use the showers at another location. I would recommend this resort and we will go back in the future.

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Amazing resort

The resort was small, clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly. The food was ok but everything else about the resort was exceptional. I would definitely go again. We had one of the swim up rooms and now I’m spoiled for any other trips I want to take.

Blau Varadero: Great Resort

We were quite pleased with this resort, Everything was good, cant complain. We arrived at the resort around 11:30 am. They checked us in and gave us our room right away. Was quite relaxing and everything flowed smoothly.. Even the flight was on time. Our return trip we were actually 15 minutes early. Sunwing did a great job. Sunwing provided champagne and a dinner at the resort one night that we were pleased with.
