extremely great management staff and the staf were amazing extremely clean grounds lovely beaches beautiful rooms super pools and amazing lazy river extremely great restaurants and buffets and and barbecue house on the beach

Barcelo Maya Palace: Fantastic Beach!

Beach/ocean is fantastic complete with sea turtles! Pools are clean and food is great. Water slide area has a lifeguard too. Recommend the dolphin experience, although the dolphin pool was dirtier than I expected. Pro tip: bring plastic plates so you can take food from the buffet to go! They don’t have take out boxes.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: decent resort

We liked our family superior room in block 38. The balcony view right to the jungle. The room also centrally located close to everything. The food overall is above average, we liked the restaurant Riviera and Japanese. We liked less the Italian one. In the buffet you can always find something you like, unfortunately its food is not enough hot/warm in general. My son and myself found the big water slides little bit dangerous as in few of them I felt I can be rejected outside of them in the end o [... read more]f the parkour. So, we used mostly the small ones. The surroundings are amazing, in the middle of a tropical jungle, where you can see all sort of animals. Also we walked a lot to see around. I did not like the beach as it's rocky ans hard to get in, we mostly used the pool. Overall we liked our one week stay.

Grand Sunset Princess: I got horrible food poison from Teppayaki (the cook didn't cook the food well) on the last night that I collapsed at the airport which went to emergency at hospital.

I almost died and fainted on the airport floor with the horrible food poisoning from the hotel teppanyaki fish. The airline won't allow me to fly unless I get an emergency doctor's approval to fly which cost me money for medical bills, hotel, taxi, medicine etc. The airport to the hotel, the taxi driver charged us $62 usd but from the hotel to the airport was only $23 usd. The overall resort is pretty good and this was my second visit to this resort. Very impressed with how clean they are a [... read more]nd the food at the buffet was fresh and good overall.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: Really nice resort

After going to Secrets Huatulco and Los Cabos for the last number of years, we decided to try Maroma. It’s a great resort with really nice rooms and a great beach and pool area. The drink service around the pool was second to none. Restaurants were the same as other Secrets resorts. Annoying to have to line up and give room numbers every time. Spa was good, massages were great. The aqua-therapy was not worth it.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Sandos Caracol review

The deluxe room was very very basic. It was clean. Coffee maker did not work, used the water machine to make tea, no stir sticks and other basic items provided. The balcony was very very small and could barely sit on it “I am a tiny slim 5ft”. Cleaning was efficient and well done. The food was pretty bad (I am not a person who cares much about food) so basic survival was buying a bag of chips for $7.50 US dollar. Most restaurants had a very very long line up so was not really feas [... read more]ible, ended up eating dinner early around 3pm and managed to find something reasonable. The staff were great! Ended up spending a lot of time at the sister resort in Playacar, a huge difference! Beach wise the smell of waste the first day was so bad could not be tolerated. Really enjoyed the souvenir and massage place up the beach outside of the resort

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Disappointing

We booked a year out from our trip and at that point the reviews were very good. The food is bad and it is very hard to book a restaurant. I asked the front desk for help and they pointed me to guest services. Guest services just wants to sell time shares and said they couldn't help with restaurant bookings. I later found out that if you listen to their pitch that they will explain that you have to wait in line unless you are royal elite. Someone who was royal elite said that they didn't get the [... read more] perk of booking restaurants. Also the line for check-in was terrible, about an hour wait and from what others said, our wait was minimal. There was also often long lineups for the buffet most days. The buffet does not change its menu at all. We were there for every meal because we had young kids and hated the food. I'm not picky either. This is the first time that I have loved a buffet in Mexico. The positives were that the waterpark is great for kids and the cenote is very nice.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very good resort

I would give 4 star. Excellent restaurants, very good services by restautant staff. In buffet, vegetarian dishes is set right besides non-veg. and serving spoons are also shared. difficult for peoples with dietary restrictions. They should make a separate section for veggie

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Resort was beautiful

The hotel itself is beautiful, nice staff but there was lots that they did not try to overcome. Our fridges were only stocked the second day as we tipped but when we didn't tip again they did not restock. For 4 straight days the fire alarm was going off hourly and no one was coming to resolve the issue. It began on Sunday Dec 4th, 2022 and did so until Thursday December 8th, 2022. It would go off at all hours of the day and night. No staff came to check in case if fire or let us know there were  [... read more]no issues. Hard to enjoy yourself when an alarm is screaming for hours with no resolve. Anytime it would go off I would go check just in case it would be a fire or had to evacuate. When I advised the concierge they would tell us there was nothing they can do or would act all confused having no information. Paying all that money to not be able to relax was a very bad experience for my family and I. The staff came in and left champagne for us but left the door open, anyone could of just walked right in. Would I not recommend this hotel to anyone and we will not be returning.

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Catalonia Riviera Maya-

We have just returned from the above hotel and a week stay, we have been to this resort about 10 years ago and found many upgrades, from the rooms, the healthy fruit, veggie bar Maloo. We did notice the variation in level of service in what package you purchased that was different than 10 years ago. The incorporation in the use of technology as tremendously changed and for me caused some stress (not strong with tec) but was able to adapt and the staff were great to help without using tec.( I fee [... read more]l all driven due to covid) Booking restaurants though the app, knowing your transportation back to the airport you need a device to review this information to not miss your flight. Meals at the restaurant were good but preferred the buffett as there are many options. Many drink options and never felt like I was missing out. The crepes hut was great! Going to this resort we knew there are not the mile long beaches and still enjoyed the overall look and beach area.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun: MARGARITAVILLE ISLAND RESERVE, CANCUN

Our experiences at this resort (first visit) was exceptional. The staff were amazing... Especially Diora (events coordinator) and the poolside DJ was so friendly (we played some very eclectic music together) and were a hit with the bar crowd. The food was very good. we were surprised at how long and hard the landscaping crew spent keeping the beach clean and (somewhat) free of seaweed. Our butler, Ericka, was exceptional and meet our every need, including getting me a personal cushion for my poo [... read more]l lounger. Will definitely return to this resort.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great first experience

Great place to take your kids. My daughter loved the kids camp activities. Every day was filled with joy and peace of mind. Evening activities were very delightful. Food offered in the buffet caters to vegetarians, so this was big plus. Easy access to the Ocean and beach was great.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Resort was nice but hardly felt "all inclusive" anymore

This was our second time visiting the grand palladium. Our first time was about 10 years ago. positives; Resort is very well kept still and clean. Pools are very nice. Staff were very friendly and the food was overall good. buffet was extremely repetitive; exact same breakfast every day and I would say 1/2 the lunch and dinner was the same every day too. The variety of a la cartes is very nice and the food at the Poseidon, japanese, and Thai restaurants was very good. The steak house was not [... read more] great. We upgraded our room at the time of booking to the romance villa suite which was absolutely lovely and you get access to a very nice part of the beach with cabanas whioch were great. The Kantenah ones are right next to the beach and the rooms are very nice it was worth the extra $50/day we spent at time of booking. If you want this upgrade at check in time it is $80USD per day. The negatives; They were constantly doing work around the resort which was very noisy and relentless during the day. Jackhammering and sandblasting for hours. From the moment we arrived until when we left we were constantly being asked to spend more money. At check in they will try to get you to purchase room upgrades, and access to their "VIP palladium club" all at an extra cost. They hound you with resort staff that seem super helpful at first until you realize they just want you to come to their presentation about their new TRS Yucatan resort. many menus have extra items on them that come at extra costs. WATCH out at the a la carte restaurants they will ask if you want wine and then charge you for it. Room service also comes at an extra charge of $15USD. They are not very upfront about these charges and we spoke to another couple that was left with a $100 bottle of wine with their dinner. I would say about half their liquor selection at the lobby bars come at an increase in cost. A massage at the spa was like $200USD. I would go back again if price was right. They also made the salt water pool that used to be part of the white sands hotel and accessible to everyone part of the TRS Yucatan resort and so now you don't get access to this pool anymore.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Still Great Resort

Our first visit back to BP Sian Ka'an since Covid and it's still a favourite. It's adults only and totally laid back and low key. We want to chill, relax and enjoy good service and food. If you're looking for a lively, high energy vacation this resort is NOT for you. Be aware that it is about 1.5 hour drive from Cancun airport and is not on the beach. There is a beach section reserved for Sian Ka'an and there are mini trains that run throughout the resort, but certainly not ideal if you'r [... read more]e a beach person. Some people are still surprised when they learn it's on right on the beach! The service at the resort is excellent as is the food at the 2 a la carte restaurants and buffet. In addition you can eat at any of the other 3 BP resorts on the property. Lots of variety and flexibility. Overall great resort.

Grand Sunset Princess: Unique Experience

Rooms were OK,but the WiFi in the rooms can be improved. The beach front is almost eroding for the resort we chose. Lots of stones and pebbles. The beach during night is poorly illuminated. These days many people are vegetarian and hence some more.menu for these people is required, specially if it cod be for Indians and S.E Asians

Tukan Hotel Playa Del Carmen: maskless

its good because all the access is outdoors and this allows for less spread of illness such as covid. i had a great time with no mask the entire week. the locastion was good and food was great. i loved the staff so much,

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Beautiful resort

Wow, what an unexpected pleasure this resort was. Our room was on the second level first villa closest to the hotel. Very quiet and a garden view that was tranquil and serene. What can I say about the restaurants other than all were absolutely fabulous. Presentation, taste, wide choices and wonderful service were sure to please any palate. The beach was lovely and clean. The grounds and landscaping were beautiful and there are several quiet pools throughout. The staff were amazing and friendly and always courteous. My only complaint for this resort is that dinner reservations had to be made for all. Your concierge is more than happy to walk you through this and make suggestions. Book early for the Asian cuisine as it is popular and was so amazing. The good presentation was gorgeous and delicious. Offsite excursions were booked with Carlos our AirTransit representative. It was the first time for all of us (two couples) at this hotel and we would definitely reconsider returning.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen: Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen

This hotel is a perfect size with amazing staff! Very close to 5th Avenue for any shopping needs. The food is abundant and always fresh. If you would like something different and can't find it in the ample buffet just ask the chef & he/she will try their best to accomodate your request. The only complaint I would mention is the lack of lounge chairs around the pools. It's a race every morning to get chairs. We even witnessed two fights when some guests tried to take loungers that were already in [... read more] use! Overall, I would recommend this resort if you don't mind the lack of beach!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: The beach does not look like this.

The resort is very large and sprawling. There are trolleys available if you don’t want to walk. The area where the splash park is, is called ‘Daisy’ and is approximately in the centre of the property. We had a problem with our initial room and had to be moved. The first room was so musty smelling, we could barely breathe and could not stay there. We ended up in Eden, which was closer to the beach and a much nicer location. The beach area was very nice and perfect for long walks. The resta [... read more]urants were very good and you only needed to reserve at the Japanese. All other’s were first come first serve and you put your name on a waiting list. All restaurants had a QR code for their menus, however paper ones were available upon request. They had 2 mixologist station on the property that served amazing drinks.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Pretty Good Resort

We booked a privilege package/room. The food at this resort was amazing, and having dinner at one of the restaurants each night was really nice. Sakura, the teppanyaki restaurant was incredible, and an experience everyone should try to enjoy. Out only issue with food was at the Mexican restaurant, Margherita. I ordered a mango margherita, and it came with a lot of hard plastic shards in it. We told the waiter, and he seemed genuinely shocked. They brought another to her, and again it had lots o [... read more]f large and sharp plastic shards. Once is a mistake, twice is negligence. The drinks were great at the various bars, the piano bars make some really nice ones, and it's also nice to see them create and try new and unique things for drinks at the piano bar. Part of the privilege package included top shelf liquor, but the pool bars, and lobby bar were so busy that the bartenders just used whatever bottle already had the spout attached infront of there quick grab station. This didn't bother me, the bar tenders (and alot of the other staff) were working incredibly hard. It was just an observation I had. If you really wanted the premium alcohol, it seems like you would need to request that each drink. We visited each pool, aside from the Daisy pool, they all were great. The foam party in the Eden pool was a blast. The beach one is nice, but the privilege section of the beach was amazing. We spent alot of time just hanging out in the cabana style lounge couches. My only other major downfall of this resort, and the main reason why I wouldn't go back was the constant hounding by the H10 staff. When we arrived we were told of a breakfast the next morning as an information session. Little did we know this turned into a very aggressive time share sales pitch. It was disgusting to watch late in the trip, a young family being aggressively pressured into a major financial commitment. Knowing that someone with less will power to resist might be forced into something that may negatively hurt them for a long time. We also seen a lot of guests struggle to get dinner reservations who did not get the privilege package. Overall, we did enjoy our time, the plastic in the drink, I really hope that was just a one off incident. But the aggressive sales pitches at every turn just left a really bad taste in my mouth.
