Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very Nice!

Our recent one week stay at the Blau Costa Verde (Plus) was just what we needed: a lovely beach, nice accommodations (better than expected), great people on staff. The Plus addition adds a few nice amenities but certainly is not necessary to enjoy this resort. The food was good and lots of varieties were available to suit our taste. the a-la-carte restaurants do add some nice alternative meals. No paper towels and few hand drying machines, missing seats, urine on the floor and seats occasionally. NOT all the public washrooms were like this...but the few that were means we had to be careful. -No Kleenex in the rooms: this item should be added

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort

Beautiful rooms, pool areas and beaches. Food was amazing and lots to choose from. Service was wonderful. No complaints at all except for men having to wear pants to the buffet at night, which is pretty minor!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Good enough to guarantee another visit next year!

We couldn't ask for more. The room was clean and comfortable, the food was very good an the grounds were beautiful. A reef at the beach made for interesting snorkeling. All of the staff were as pleasant as they could be. We loved it.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: A good deal for the price

I found a deal on TripCentral for $700 (inc. taxes) for the week of Jan. 31 - Feb.7 I did a lot of TripAdvisor research before booking. We have never stayed at a 3 star before, but decided to take a flyer on a cheap winter get away. We went with reasonable expectations - i.e. this is not a 4, 4.5 or 5 star, so adjust your expectations accordingly! We declined because we were too lazy to move. They fixed the A/C right away! We were supposed to stay in the dreaded "barracks", but for some unknown reason, we ended up in the "Tropical" section which is the main hotel (Atlantico). The room was basic - did not include a bar fridge, coffee maker or safe. You could rent one for an xtra cost per day. Although the room was basic - it met all our needs - clean, comfortable bed, working A/C and the maids did a great job cleaning the room every day.. The main downside were the thin walls - the hotel is very noisy - loud guests and music from the pool. However, I always wear earplugs to sleep, so it didn't really bother me too much. On the upside - literally everything happens at the hotel - main buffet, bars, coffee bars, pool, very close to the beach - so it is convenient. The drinks were good and definitely not watered down - in fact, I found them a bit boozy. The grounds of the resort are kept pretty clean. I absolutely loved the cobblestone walkway from Club Amigo to Brisas....very picturesque. We walked it many times. Food: pretty bad! As others have mentioned - breakfast is the best meal of the day and I recommend Benny More and the Gaietano (?) snack bar - both in the Villas section. There are 2 main buffets - I found the one in the Guardalavaca (barracks) section to be smaller, more civilized and less frantic. The A la Cartes weren't much of an improvement over the buffets. Of the 3 a la cartes, El Fuerte was the best. BTW - if you have trouble getting reservations - go back every day to the reservation desk: spots open up. The main issues with the buffet food are the presentation, the re-use of the same foods (re-configured into "new" dishes and the sameness). The beaches are great with some lovely photo opportunities at the very end of the public beach near the restaurant on top of the cliff. There are 2 smaller beaches plus the larger public beach. We had no trouble finding shade under the trees at the beach. I had to laugh at some of the TripAdvisor complaints about Cubans using their OWN beach - hello people, it's their country! The free kayaks, peddle boats and catamaran rides are a plus (just make sure you tip the Catamaran guy!) Favorite bar: the pirate bar - seemed to have drinks that weren't available elsewhere. Went to two of the shows - both good. One was a fun black light show, the other cuban musicians One of the things that did bother me (no fault of the hotel!) was the constant smoking - cigarette smoke is everywhere and you can't escape it. This hotel has a very loyal following of regulars - they come back multiple times/year over many years. They've developed friendships with a number of staff and locals. I enjoyed my time - whether I'd return, not sure? Maybe if the price was right.

Playa Pesquero: Again Playa Pesquero Delivers

This was our second time there in 3 years, the service and food was good before. But I must say the a la cartes restaurants like the Italian and the Romantico surpassed our expectations. The staff were very welcoming as always. Fidel moved to the beach bar which is unfortunate he was great at the pool bar, Gerald and Madelin from the pool bar are still the best bartenders in the place. I would like to see management do something about the hot water and pressure, if everyone decided to take a bath or shower in the building you get none and must wait, not convenient. Playa Costa Verde: Good as always

PCV continues to provide an affordable and enjoyable vacation. The food is better than the standard Cuban fare with lots of fresh and varied choices. The grounds and rooms are always clean and comfortable, even during renovations. Will have to return soon the see the new Beer Corner and Cigar Lounge and the resurfaced pool deck. Probably best of all about PCV though is the staff...the most friendly, efficient and caring people you could find.

This is the best vacation eaver food was so nice and people my God so friendly and the hotel staff so friendly that have beach party pool party disco club in side resort roasted pig on the pool side every other day thank so much windy who made it possible

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: A place you can return to every year

This was my 3rd time. We took our 85 year old mother with a walker this time. This resort was great for her. We had a ground floor room in the Plus side. Very few steps as they have small ramps around the main building. Buffett was OK but food was not very warm. The restaurants were excellent. I especially enjoyed the Spanish and French restaurants. The bartenders in the VIP lounge and at the front lobby bar are terrific. Excellent service all round. Playa Costa Verde: Not good this time around..

The hotel has deteriorated since the previous 4 visits. Staff cutbacks have the poor staff running like chickens with their heads cut off... On arrival, the weather was cold and rainy....the roof leaked in our room...the heat did NOT work in our room...temp was +7c... Instead of a queen bed....two doubles...had to ask twice and wait nearly 3 days before a queen mattress was put on top of the double beds..the roof leak was never fixed.. The buffet, pool restaurant and Cuban outdoor restaura [... read more]nt was inundated with cats....competing with cats for dinner is NOT what I paid for..when speaking to the Hotel Manager about the cat problem....it was NOT a priority to rid the hotel of the cats....on previous visits...was rare to see one or two cats... Food in the Buffet and other outdoor restaurants was extremely bland from what it used to be...regrettably...Costa Verde is in farm land...food and fruit was far superior on previous visits.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort

Beautiful grounds and great beach with plenty of shade. Lovely rooms, although steps down to the sitting area could pose a problem for some people. All the staff were wonderful. The Green Tour offered by Cubana Tours was a great way to see a bit of the real Cuba.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Great Resort...

Just spent a week at this resort (Jan 24th thru Jan 31st, 2017). Had a wonderful week, rooms were clean and beach was fantastic!!! People working at the resort were really wonderful to deal with. If your looking for a nice relaxing & worry free vacation, would absolutely recommend this resort!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Definitely 5Star🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Had a great stay. Rooms well kept and food was way above previous Cuban experience. Beach was nice and clean and the watersports well run. The grounds are well kept and neat and tidy. Seems there were no bugs... maybe they spray for mossies? Staff was polite and friendly.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Great Holiday

Rooms were great, 3 pools to chose from ( one with swim up bar ) 2- 24 hr snack and drink bars, one garden cafe, large and small beach areas and lots of extra activities to partake of. Two large main dining rooms ( buffet ) and a couple of a la cart restaurants Our 10th stay and we will be back!

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Almost an ideal place

In January 2017 we stayed for two weeks in a villa at Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca for a fifth time. It became our favourite destination because of the nice nature and the big swimming pool where we can swim if it is windy or late in the evening when it is dark. Everything is clean, the gardens are well maintained, the staff is friendly (if you are friendly). There were only two th [... read more]ings that prevented us from saying that this is the ideal place for us. First, the constant problem during our five visits there with the cooks in the main restaurant - they kept ignoring our request to do what is normal and self-evident - to provide correct food labels (e.g., a label reads "Vegetarian", but there is meat in the food); this year, when the restaurant Guardalavaca opened, initially we observed the same problem, but when we talked to the cooks they immediately corrected the errors (unfortunately, their colleagues in the main restaurant continued with their irresponsible stubbornness). Second, the internet access is a constant problem there (we guess many people do not need it anyway, but there are also people who do need it and in all hotels that is provided). What was good this year was that WiFi was finally available, but.... not always working. For example, the last three days of our stay there there was no WiFi and we think it was not due to a real problem, but rather due to the infamous "mañana" (so we purchased a WiFi card but could not use it at all since we left). We would also like to add that we will try to avoid travelling with Sunwing - we travel a lot but we have never seen such bad service - you have to pay for your meal and they are constantly asking you to buy things and at the end of the flight asked for donation (we overheard other frustrated travellers calling the company Shopwing). This company tries to destroy a well-established tradition (the meal is included in the ticket price) but we will not be surprised if the tradition destroys this company.

Playa Pesquero: Crystal turquoise water, great food and friendly Cuban people

Grounds are beautiful, clean, natural and filled with local flowers and coconut palms. Bananas were beginning to ripen. Safe and wonderful place to walk, like being on a large private estate. Rooms are spacious, attractive and very clean. Enormous open air lobby is filled with music in the evening and although large is designed so that there are multiple smaller areas. Lots of activities going on during the day including free Spanish lessons and Aqua fitness in one of the many pools. Huge buffet [... read more] restaurant allows those who must watch their diet an enormous variety of healthy and delicious foods. Several other restaurants offer wonderful meals also. If you have mobility problems they have ground floor rooms with ample space for a walker or wheel chair and large shower with safety bars. Otherwise, the rooms are either on the ground floor or second floor and are very well and attractively furnished. Our fourth time there as we love it! Only drawback this time around was the lack of coffee maker. They had not received shipment.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Experience Cuba

Brisas Villa room- just what we needed to retreat to from the hot, Cuban sun!! Our room was well situated on the sprawling hotel complex. 2 members of our group reported Lost jewelry. However the Front Desk simply added our items to a "Lost Items" notebook, leaving us feeling our items would not be found, at least not during our remaining stay at the Hotel.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very nice resort. Employee's friendly and helpful.

Grounds and public areas are clean and well kept. Rooms are basic but also clean and well kept. The buffet food was quite good and they really tried to present a variety each evening. Lot's of chairs by the Plus pool so enjoyed that very much. The beach was a bit crowded and space was at a premium but it was also very acceptable.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: We have to return to the Paradisus Rio De Oro!

We had a wonderful time and can only say positive things about our stay! The room was lovely - an updated bathroom with walk in shower, and we had a corner suite, which was very nice! The meals - whether we dined in the buffet - which was excellent, with so many options or the a la carte, were so delicious! The staff provided such wonderful service throughout the resort! We had perfect weather for the whole week, and met so many friendly, outstanding people! Many had been vacationing there f [... read more]or multiple times! We had great times at the pool, at dinners and at the entertainment during the evening! The vacation here more than met our expectations, and we all talked about wanting to return next year! We loved it! Our travel agent definitely hit the mark on this one for us!

Playa Pesquero: Great value

This resort met our expectations. Rooms are dated but clean, food at buffet was okay and a la carte restaurants were awesome. Grounds are well-kept and staff is very friendly. Service is excellent throughout the resort. I would recommend this resort if you like larger resorts.
