Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Went for a wedding

Resort is small but well maintained. Drink service around pool was good. Wait staff at Breakfast and Lunch always great especially Elvis and Karen. Food at Buffets and a la cartes were really good with a lot of choice. Supper wait staff were good until you were in a group of 8 or more. They couldn't handle the drink orders or any other requests for extra utensils, glasses, etc. One person in the group got their beer 45 minutes after ordering it. In small groups, the service was great. Ro [... read more]oms were basic. The view from our room was of 2 buildings made of concrete with a view of the ocean between. We hadn't ordered an oceanview room so weren't too concerned. One tip is to make sure you request a king bed before going if you need one. Those that didn't got 2 doubles. Beach was nice for walking but no swimming allowed. The under tow was horrible. That didn't stop some guests from risking their lives even though a black flag (Do Not Swim for risk of death) by swimming well out from shore. Saw whales breaching from shore and sting rays jumping out of the water. Check in and out was quick and efficient. The outdoor wedding went off without a hitch except for the pesky seagull that pooped on one of the guests. That wasn't the hotel's fault though. Food and dancing after was great on another outdoor patio. Had to be done around 10:30pm so we didn't disturb any of the guests with rooms right above it. The rest of the group headed for the Sky Lounge. We didn't as we knew if was extremely loud and we had to leave the next morning. Biggest complaint I have has nothing to do with the resort. We were in line for 2 1/2 hours at the airport waiting to get through immigration when we got there. We heard every Saturday is like that. The airport has to do something about that. I guess it made the drink when we got to the resort that much better. Also on the way back, had to sit on the tarmac for an extra hour while they found a fuel truck. Overall, airport was disorganized. I don't think they know how to handle all those people. It was obviously never built to handle that many people and airplanes coming in or leaving. To those people that decided to go around to get right in front of the person handling a wheelchair down the ramps...get out of the way. You have no idea how hard it is to maneuver one of those down a ramp going backwards so the wheelchair doesn't get away from them. Just be patient. You got no further by going around and in fact risked your own life or limb (mainly a foot). Please people, use your brains or what's left of them after a week of heavy drinking and eating.

Barcelo Huatulco: Good Resort

We had a nice, clean room with an ocean view. Loved that we could make reservations for all of the restaurants at the same time as check in. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We really enjoyed the adult pool.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Worth Revisiting

This is a huge resort with lots to do for everyone. Clean, friendly staff, good service, modern and a beautiful golf course. The food was good. No complaints. This was our second time and I would go back again.

Allegro Cozumel: Great Times in Mexico

I had never been to Cozumel, Mexico and I can honestly say that I will return. The hotel was very clean and everything was close. We decided to sit by the beach bar one day and it was wonderful as one side was beach and the other side was pool. The housekeeping staff were cleaning daily, even the rails on each of the porches which I was impressed with. All the staff were exceptional especially George (english translation) at breakfast and lunch. One day we asked for champagne/orange j [... read more]uice and Bailey's for our coffee and everyday he remembered and had ready for us. On his day off, he made sure that his co-worker was aware. The only negative thing I can say was no free wifi in the lobby. It is a very quiet resort, but a nice bar downstairs, instead of the inside sports bar would make a difference. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone. From the web you would assume it would be full of children with the Pirate themed pool but it it a place for everyone!!!! I definitely will visit Allegro Cozumel again.

Occidental Caribe: Very disappointed

The hotel looks great and the grounds are beautiful...from a distance. This hotel is very tired and worn out and in need of major repair. They only advertise the upgraded renovated section of the resort which is section 1 and 2 (there are 7 sections). The room we stayed in had electrical problems, lights worked some times, water and plumbing stopped working on day 5, the door looked like it had been broken and pryed into and there was no security locks on our door, the safe was broken and the [... read more] shower had a broken faucet with a long screw being used as the handle to control water temperature. We complained to the front desk, guest services and to the front desk manager and they told us they were booked at 110% and couldn't accommodate us elsewhere at the hotel. The pools were overcrowded, loud and lots of dirt and chipped paint/missing tiles in many parts of the pool so be careful not to cut your feet on the broken parts. This hotel was advertised at a 4.5 star and we paid over $1500 per person, it should be rated at a 3 star and no more than $1100 per person for the condition. The good parts - the food was great, the staff in the buffet were incredible and very friendly and helpful!! The beach was one of the nicest stretches of beach we've been on. The management and front desk staff were very rude and not accommodating to us at all, we had booked a king sized bed with a crib and they gave us a room with 2 double beds and no crib...they told us they wouldn't have a crib for us until day 4 into our vacation. I had to sleep in another bed away from my husband all week so that my infant wouldn't roll out of the bed. I would not go back to this resort and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Couldn't ask for more.

The resort was great, clean and lots to do. Buffet was beyond expectations. Staff were happy and attentive. Enjoyed sailing the included hobby catamaran. Lots of shade on the beach and available chairs. Roach in the room. Slow check in.

Barcelo Solymar: Great Location/Good Resort

This was a solid 4 star resort. The beach is wonderful and the beach area is great with lots of seats and cabana. The beach has too great locations one for Solymor with all the entertainment and beach bar. Areanas Blanches beach area also had cabanas and had the snack restaurant and bar. 3 nice pools; 2 of which had a pool bar. Lots of chairs available at all 3 pools. None of the pool had umbrellas' but there were shady areas. Many options for eating with 2 buffets and 2 snack bars (on [... read more]e at the beach the other beside the main buffet at Solymor) and many a la cart restaurants. The food is typical resort food. Lobby's at both resorts are quite nice.. Enjoyed the spiral staircase and the greenery at the Solymor which you could enjoy while sitting at the Daquila bar. There was several bars and you could easily get served. The location of the resort is awesome. Steps away from 1st Ave of Varadero where you can enjoy all the shops/bars/restaurants. Rooms were clean and spacious. We were upgraded to a bungalow suite. The bed was a king sized and comfortable. This is an older resort so it does show it's age in some areas but all in all it is well maintained. Service- You are EXPECTED to tip to get good service.. However, I am of the belief you should tip good service. Plus the bank/exchange at the resort is very reluctant to give small bills so that you can tip. It was very much a catch 22. Overall we did enjoy our vacation and would probably come back especially knowing a few thing about how the system works...

Barcelo Solymar: Awsome vacation

I was a bit skeptical as I was travelling a girl alone A beautiful resort close to town allot of beautiful palms and awesome beach the overall hotel very clean I stayed in a bungalow and did not regret my choice , the food was reasonable for Cuba , the Mexican a la cart mmmm good, the staff were mostly helpful front desk not so much but many of staff were memorable 💞 And sweet

Occidental Costa Cancun: Wonderful resort

We had a wonderful time at the Occidental Costa, the hotel was spotless in all areas, good food and entertainment, simply the best. The staff were very accommodating and made every day a pleasure we would recommend this hotel. The beach is small but ample as this is not a huge hotel, lovely palm trees on the beach and a fabulous bar. We would love to visit again.

Occidental Punta Cana: Stunning resort

Everything was beautiful! Very helpful staff. We will be back! Plenty of restaurant choices. Great buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The swim up bar was our favorite bar. We loved the snack bar located right above the swim up bar!

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Such a great resort

The resort was amazing! Didn't even have to do any excursions the resort had enough! Great people, food, disco. Only thing that could improve is the ocean (too much seaweed!) I will be going back that's for sure! Thanks

Barcelo Montelimar: Beautiful Resort

The Barceló Montelimar Resort is a beautiful resort. You feel like you are in a rain forest setting without the dampness. The trees are huge and you have a lot of coconut, palm and mango trees with mangos which you can pick, wash and eat. There are so many places you can sit and take in the breeze and it is so nice to take a walk in the morning and the whole day. You can hear the birds chirping and whistling early morning, see the different type of birds/deers/peacocks/parrots etc. The t [... read more]hings my husband and I are disappointed in are the following: Buffet Restaurant are taken over by the locals and there is hardly any food because as soon as the restaurant replenish the trays, it is all gone and we and most of the people on our trip found the locals to be rude as they run in front of you in the line up and take as much food and even more than they can eat and leave it on the table. They are lots of kids and they cry all the time and I personally saw one woman change her kid diaper in the restaurant. The food is the same thing every day for lunch and dinner. At the desert section, the kids put their whole face/head and try to get the ice cream which is a turn off. As for the pool, the locals have their kids in the adult pools and they drink from the bar and pour their drinks in the pools. They even have small kids in the whirlpool. They practically take over all the pools with their kids. There is a kids pool by one of the bars which no one goes to, they all go to the same pool. I would suggest opening up one of the restaurants for tourists and have guards supervise the pools and the restaurants as I have never seen anything like that. We have gone to so many countries in the Caribbean and Mexico and never seen anything like that. I wish they would have some structure. Also, I am disappointed that they do not have free wifi and they system are so dated, they still do everything manually. As for the bar, they just throw they drinks together and add lots of ice. it is not like they mix or blend it and the women serving in the bar looks tired and not pleasant at all

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Very large resort

We found the reception area needs to be better staffed as it's always so busy. That was the only thing but it is the first impression so that's why we felt it was important to mention. We were a bus full of people arriving at the hotel and reception was not fully staffed. We stood in line to get checked in for approx. 20 - 25 minutes to get checked in. People with children were getting as kids were antsy. They did not give out room keys but told us to come back in 30 - 40 minutes to get them [... read more] (that was fine as we went to enjoy a cool drink and a bite to eat). They said it would be fast just handing out the key to us later. About 45 minutes later we went to stand in line again to get the key. Once we got to the front of the line the staff person who was giving out the keys just walked away without saying a word. After a few minutes all of us in line started wondering what happened was he sick, did he go for a break? Finally, we asked a supervisor that was just standing there the whole time if someone was coming back as there was still a line up to get our room key. It was only then that he said something to a staff person and she started handing out the keys. The hotel was clean, we had a very nice room with big bathroom. The hotel grounds were beautiful. We loved the gym and the exercise classes. There was lots of selection at the buffet all the time. The beach was beautiful.

Allegro Cozumel: Great holiday!

The grounds of this resort were very well kept. The rooms were very nice. The thatched roof added an authentic touch. The entertainment that we saw was mediocre. The food was good especially the Italien restaurant. The maid could have cleaned a bit better. I found the floor to be gritty at times. The towels were not always replaced. The beach was good. It would be nice if there was a comfortable place to sit out after dinner to have drinks. We had a great time and I would return here.

Barcelo Montelimar: Beautiful Beach!!

The beach just went on forever! I have honestly never stayed at a resort with so much beautiful beach frontage. You could literally walk for hours. And virtually no one on it. The grounds for this hotel are incredible, extremely well cared for, lush and diverse. The weather at this time of year was perfect. We stayed in the main hotel and were pleased with our room, but as our stay went on, the level of housekeeping we received decreased. At the end we were down to just two well used towels, as [... read more] the ones placed in the tub to replace were just removed and never replaced and no more in room coffee. The food was reasonably good, not a whole lot of variety, but very long line-ups to get lunch and dinner with only one dining area. One of the Canadians staying in the beach houses was broken in to while they were asleep. Very unnerving for them and it seemed as though the hotel didn't really take it very seriously.

Occidental Costa Cancun: Great Resort & staff

It was a good resort small but clean. My mom and i had a great time. The staff were polite and fun. Food was good. Room we're very clean and service was great. The resort had a smaller beach than expected but was very clean. The good side of it is that no matter what time we woke up to go to the beach we always had a chair in the sun or shade. Everything was close together. The only downside for me is that they did not have a Expresso Machine is the lobby only in the buffet so everytime i wante [... read more]d onei had to wait for the Buffet to open. Again it's not a big deal but would be a good idea to add one to the Lobby Bar.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Awesome Resort

Great recreational areas pools and kids club, excellent food and service. Awesome beach... Nice people, good shopping. Close to the airport just 20 min. High recomended for sure we are going to come back!!! Love the Resort

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Nice first time in Punta Cana

Resort met our expectations. Staff was nice and quick to answer. Food was good, lots of choices at every meals but got bored a bit at the end. Beach and pools were awesome. Waiters at the Bambu Bar were the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Barcelo Ixtapa: great place to recharge

Clean with lots of room to sit around the pool or beach, great weather and the best waves of anywhere. Staff where really great and very helpful. Rooms were very clean and up to date. TV had 6 channels of English movies for late night viewing.

Occidental Punta Cana: Not a bad little resort!

This was a good choice resort for us because it was our first visit to DR. We were looking for one that wasn't too big and this one fits! Our stay was great...building 26 with room facing ocean was excellent, as was the hot tub on the deck! Grounds were well maintained. Room was clean and spacious. Service was hit and miss, especially in the specialty restaurants. We tried the Mexican, Italian, steakhouse, and seafood restaurants. My favourite was the Mexican. Even though service was hit and miss, we still tipped because the workers at the resort depend on them to supplement their income.We were in the first club section of the resort and had great service at the bar there. Cruz and Pedro provided excellent friendly service! Check in and check out were a breeze. Common areas of the resort were well kept and I always stopped in the main lobby to smell the Lillies. All in all a great little resort!
