Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Beautiful resort with many issues that needs addressing.

This hotel and location was definitely beautiful. Unfortunately it lacked many services which made our overall vacation disappointing. As Hurricane Irma had just passed prior to our arrival the resort was generally empty. Our check in was at 4:00 am in the morning after an approx 16 hour delay at the airport in Toronto. There were approx 20 people waiting to check in with only one clerk on duty. Beach and pool were beautiful. Due to resort having low occupancy the buffet was only open for breakfast and lunch so you were forced to eat at a la cartes every night. Wait to get in was usually about one hour. Food service was terrible! Orders took anywhere from 90 minutes to 2 hours to get your order and you were lucky if you got the right order. I felt buffet should not have been closed as I would not have gone to this resort if I had been made aware of this. Had to eat at same a la carte for 3 nights so food does get quite boring. Asked to speak to Hotel Manager on 2 occassions but he/she was never made available to us. Entertainment was OK. Again due to low occupancy some nights there was no entertainment. I felt we paid the same amount of money for this trip that anyone else did and we should we receive full services and not be penalized for the low occupancy.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Paradise on Earth !!

The beach was beautiful .. the hotel staff are hilarious and have so much fun with the tourists ..would go back to this resort just to hang with the animators all day ! Great energy here ! Kayaking was great !

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Good value

Good resort for the price. Clean rooms. Been here a few time and they upgraded minor stuff like consistent AC and refilling the pop and water in your fridge every day. Can't go wrong if you want sun, pool and beach

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Best vacation ever!!

The hotel is clean, beautiful and the staff are very helpful and happy. THE FOOD is so good - we don't even book the a la carte restaurants, the buffet is fancy, delicious and hot and fresh with a variety to feed even the pickiest eater. This last vacation was our fourth stay at the Be Live and will be our future stays as well!!!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: I do not recommend

Overall, the resort was ok, it's definitely not a 4.5 star resort. I would give it a 3 at the most. Upon arrival, we were short towel cards and the room only had 2 towels in the bathroom( we were 4 in the room), bar fridge was not stocked and the air conditioner did not work efficiently. The grounds are ok and the pools are too. Not enough shaded areas around the pool however. You have to pay $3 per day for the use of a room safe which you then have to carry around a key with you, definitely a d [... read more]ownside. The food is horrible!! No variety, no Canadian/American food, very little fresh fruit, everything seems to be sitting in some sort of liquid. The buffet looked like slop for the most part. My kids had a very hard time finding things they would eat which resulted in us switching resorts on day 3. They are definitely understaffed in the kitchen. Minimal staff actually speak fluent English making it extremely difficult to ask for anything. The beach is dirty, full of seaweed on a daily basis. One lot over the beach is riddled with garbage. The beaches are not owned by the hotels and are public. Be careful, a few restaurants on site are not part of the all inclusive. The convenience shops on site are well stocked and have anything you may need. Overall, it's ok but I will definitely not be returning to this resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Exceeded My Expectations

The last time I was in the Dominican Republic was over 15 years ago and I was not impressed. This trip changed that. I needed a quiet resort and this met the bill. If you are looking for a party place this may be the place. It is a smaller resort and it was not busy. The service was great, the food was great (very important to me). Be careful if you walk on the beach when the sun has been shining on it all day. You can burn your feet.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Beautiful site and nice beach........

Firth I want to say that the hotel is an old construction but it doesn't means it is in bad conditions, on the contrary, those installations are well maintained and clean, every day you can see the hotel personal checking each room and cleaning. Gran Ventana beach resort has a beautiful beach witch offer a pleasurable site for relax and enjoy the sun, sand and sea. it swimming pool offer a safe place for children and adults, while you enjoy your favorite cocktail. Any way our experience in this Hotel was amazing, me and my family were 10 days for an excellent price but apart of all the treatment of the personal's hotel was the best has ever had, so kind, so nice, very attentive at every moment that you need them. I think that is best value for those vacation, the real warm they offer at the tourist. My best wishes for all those people whom work hard to please at many kind of tourist. Just one more: I'd like to give an idea regards to the people working in the beach, we understand the right that they have to work, but I think some tourist don't like someone each minute offering something that they don't want, so my advise for the management is keep those workers on a place where the tourist can reach them voluntarily (closely). I mean, a place for massage, for hair style, another one for jewelry and stuff like that. And for finish, we got the best vacations in a island with the best service. Congratulations.....

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great Resort

Our rooms were clean and quiet. Grounds were well kept. No shortage of food, drinks & entertainment. Staff were friendly and always welling to help with whatever we needed. My son was treated extra special on his birthday.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Not recommended, try it out at your own risk!

Most staff here are hard working, some of the many that I would give a 5+ star to are: Kitchen: Melvin Ventura, Jacqueline Entertainment: George, Luis Cepeda, Shu Fly, Carlos, Rey, Julio Guest services: Arbis Porra Francisco (he seemed to be the only helpful and kind person who was always willing to help, otherwise service at front desk, upper management, and guest services was horrible) We flew with Air Transit and were told by the representative that he would be available 24/7 and lets [... read more] just say that was not the case as I will explain furthermore shortly. Something we were not warned about is that this resort is HUGE (4 hotels together under one name) and you have to find your own way around and constantly wait around for a bus or golf cart to take you wherever you are going *comes around about every 15 min. Feels like you are on a stranded island as this resort is the only one on this beach together with Ocean World which they own as well. In ocean World they host a marvellous party on Thursdays "dome VIP party" which gladly everyone is welcome to. There they have a Bravsimmo show, casino, outdoor pool bar where they have a DJ until 12am with some extra dancers. That show, the Sunday Welcome Party and the 9:30 shows were great, at 8pm and throughout the day they have activities which are pretty standard but not bad, like dancing, drinking games and so on. If you are here for over 1 week everything is the same: shows and food. As for food they have different themes daily but the food stays the same! Left overs are often given, pizza, burgers, hot dogs, pasta and turkey station, rice, salad station and stews are what you will see daily. It gets tiring and there's nothing to do about it! No gluten free, dairy free, or vegetarian options, unless you would like to have the same fish (grouper) everyday or just live off of bland salad. Men in hats are paid to chase you down around the resort in order to get you into V.I.P and or time shares. They will waste half your day and lie to you about where they are taking you. They try to give you alcoholic and ask personal bank information. I wish I could tell you how many people they got hooked on this and now people are tied down for years paying membership fees.. heard endless amount of people's stories at the resort. They give alcohol and gift baskets to get you more involved. If you are not V.I.P you get treated differently and everyone is constantly attacking you to become V.I.P even after explaining you are not interested. They have different rooms that all rooms should be like, more food options, golf carts which tend to become unsafe since people are drinking and driving and sound adults are driving as well. The beach is beyond dirty; food, cups, diapers and anything you can imagine is in there. Yes, i've seen workers clean the sand, but the locals destroy it every weekend and take over the whole resort. They get very inappropriate, no personal space, make a mess and noise everywhere. I believe if they had no locals the resort would be a lot more empty. They come for a cheaper price therefore there is an overload of them on weekends. If you like to stroll the beach good luck because you will get stopped every other minute by locals selling items and or trips and when you walk towards Ocean World you are steps away from the streets so locals spend the day there and they will be bothering you especially if you are a female. Non V.I.P rooms are dirty and have bugs this makes you want to upgrade. Only very few buildings are new and trustworthy. Honestly, I would not recommend going this place is for people that want to feel special with their statuses. If you want a clean room you won't get it at a standard price and private beach is only for V.I.P forcing you to deal with locals, mess and more, food is beyond gross. Mangers are horrible, unhelpful and same with concierge.. rude and won't fix problems. Now you decide if you want to trust this place because even if they got new chefs and rebuilt the place I wouldn't trust a word they say since they are liars. An example of this is when we came to the beach at about 8am they were having a photoshoot they allowed us to walk through the V.I.P beach area but for over two hours did not give us a chair or anything. This really shows you how much they care, even after begging them and explaining that we cannot sit on a rock for so many hours they just sympathized and did nothing and when we told guest services they did not care. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Pleasant stay

Before I went there I read some reviews and I must admit I was not encouraged. After the trip I would recommend it to my friends (most). We must remember this is not Punta Cana;therefore overall we had a plesant stay but there was certainly room for improvements. There needs to be some renovations without a doubt, but in our views the rooms , food, entertainment and hospitality were good. I must add that we speak fluent spanish and definitely is a plus. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: A great resort for the family!!

We were at this resort from August 11th to 18th, 2017. The weather was great. Amazing food and the a l'carte were excellent especially the Brazilian and Mediterranean. Lots of food to select in the buffet and the staff were great!! My hubby had wanted the pool to be a swim up pool, which it was not, but still ok as it was right near the pool. This place had everything beautiful beach amazing entertainment...great drinks very friendly staff Alahondro was our favorite beautiful scenery great photographer rooms were wonderful lots of excursions to try best place we have been by far

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Amazing, clean resort!!!

The resort was very clean and the staff members were extremely friendly. Always cleaning. The a la carte dinners were 5 stars! The servers were unbelievable! You can tell they were trained very well. I would recommend this resort and would go back. Well done Viva Whyndam Heavens!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Could have been better

The hotel rooms were very dated and our bathroom ceiling leaked, staff were told but nothing was done. My Brother and sister in law joined us, their room was much bigger than ours even with just the two of them, I had to sleep with my son as the beds were not big enough to accommodate 2 adults. The pool was always warm/hot and very cloudy and turned out sons hair green and ruined our bathing suits. Poolside drinks machine didn't work the whole 2weeks and we always had to que to get a drink.  [... read more]On a meeting we attended with staff, they admitted that this particular hotel was the lowest quality hotel of their collection, but it was a very expensive holiday for us. As always delays with flights. Not a hotel we will use again.

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Wow!

What an experience, I can honestly say, this trip was amazing and all that credit goes to the resort and their staff, what a great group of people and service, I would highly recommend it! The food was amazing, especially the blue lagoon was terrific, the pools were clean and fun, the activities within the resort including the shows at night were amazing!

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Vacances

Very nice family trip. Place, hotel end staf very profesionel. Vanderfoul place for maide surfing et kitering its amazing. I loved stay 14 days in this hotel, end visiting Cabarete with my family. Probably retourned next year.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: nice resort

The staff did not look happy. They were not very friendly. More fruits would have been better. The pool bathrooms were disgusting. The bars ran out of mint and limes before noon. Entertainment had a lot to be desired. It was the same dance with different costumes. Dances were not family friendly. They were inappropriate behavior with little children around.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: It's average.

It wasn't 4.5 star worth, but the rooms were clean, pool was great and the beach was nice with lots of shades. Lacking in nightly entertainment, breakfast was routine, but paella was awesome! Oh yea, the maid stole my dress OUT of my LUGGAGE!!! Do lock up and take the safety lock key everywhere you go. Highly recommended! Lots of locals at the resort, too. Not so friendly.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Not the best service

The hotel itself was nice looking and kept clean but there were many challenges. 1. We had 4 rooms booked as a family and and total of 7 rooms with extended family. Even after phone calls and emails requesting at least 2 rooms close to each other on the same floor we were scattered across the resort. When asked to move the 2 rooms together Angelo was really rude and refused to even look to see if anything can be done. This individual gave all of a hard time and even refused to reactivate [... read more] a key that stopped working during the stay. We were a party of 23 people and many of us had the same issue with the same individual. We did finally get some of the rooms moved on the 3rd day of stay making it very difficult to watch 4 kids and an infant. 2. The rooms were not cleaned every day. The towels were always not put in the room during the cleaning. Sometimes we get a couple of towels but mostly would have to call and request to get them. It was hard to get a hold of someone on the phone as well. 3. We reserved dinner at the 3 restaurants and had issues with 2 of them. One (Italian) of them it took so long to bring out the food that the kids were hungry and sleepy. The Grill did not have a couple of the items on the menu available that night including the grilled fish which is what most of us wanted since we don't eat meat. They mixed up our reservation time and had to seat us outside and kept forgetting to check in on us. Overall we had a good time but the challenges caused a lot of frustration. The buffet had a good selection of food but the service is no where near expected. Will not be returning to this resort again.
