Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Family get together.

The resort itself was amazing. Very friendly staff, very helpful. Lots of food options and the grounds and beaches always well-kept and clean. Unfortunately, the shuttle to and from the resort was terrible experience. Would not recommend BDExperience. When arriving we were held on platform for over an hour meanwhile being bombarded with offers of taxi rides that would get us to resort immediately. We felt we were being pressured. The attendant went to speak to a driver of a van and came back and said that was not our van. BD Experience said the van was there at the scheduled time. So, we had no other choice than to obtain a taxi to the airport. We feel this was a tactic to force us to use a taxi as we had a time limit to get to the airport. Please let your future customers aware of this.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Fabulous Vacation

The resort, beach, and rooms were beautiful! The pool is also incredible, we loved the lazy river also. The Ala Carts were excellent, however the buffets and quality of alcohol was mediocre for sure. The bar tenders well I’m not sure if it was because the didn’t understand however my husband got a different rum drink every time. Sometimes white sometimes dark sometimes with diet and sometimes with regular. Overall great resort.

Tukan Hotel Playa Del Carmen: Great Resort!

This hotel is perfect for anyone who is looking for a basic and clean hotel to stay at while in Playa del Carmen. It is centrally located and is within walking distance to the beach, 5th ave and all the surrounding shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and responsive. The only negative thing I can say is that sometimes in the morning the cleaning staff talk very loudly and it can be a bit disturbing.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Family Vacation

This is a nice resort. There was no entertainment for my kids to participate in. I was waiting for an entertainment group to take my both sons and give the best vacation for them. My room was not cleaned just 1 day and had to call in. The beach was not good, very dirty and smells. If you are not paying attention to where you are walking when inside the water on the beach there are big bumps. The staff were friendly, the restaurants were nice. I would go back if they can clean up the beach. The b [... read more]ar service was not good, i was standing for like 5 minutes and some dudes come and get serviced before me. I have 2 children and a wife to get drinks for and this happening to me turned me off. The weather was good but no proper music to have while sipping a drink while laying down on the chairs at the pool.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Great beach resort

Re. Covid, only a few servers wore masks. Not a single guests wore any. Tables were somewhat distanced from one another so it felt safe enough. There was no sanitizing of any chairs or public areas we saw.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great spot

This is our 3rd time at grand Bahia, everything is very clean , grounds are well kept, pools are immaculate, food at the buffets is great , it is a big resort with multiple hotels , but is easy to get around , with their Trollies , a la carte restaurants are great , the kids always love the Japanese show lounge dinner . The only thing I would say negatively would be that the rooms at the coba are starting to get outdated,but are still very clean and well appointed. Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Good Resort

Just returned from a week long vacation Nov 13-20. The resort is very clean, renovations being done on some of the El Beso privilege and regular rooms and the Villa Marina restaurant(which is running temporarily in the evening outside at Ocean Burger. Huge covered balcony two chairs and a table Buffet lots of choices. Good food but it was not all that hot. If you like it hotter, they have a microwave for guests to use. Waiter service at the Adult pool was the best we have ever experienced anywhere. Ricardo is a tireless worker and how he remembers what you were drinking is amazing. El Beso for lunch one day, the fish tacos are amazing and so is the ravioli and grilled sausages(appetizers). Went to Ocean burger for lunch one day, was very disappointed. Processed hamburger Pattie’s , very dry, bun dry, ordered signature Coral burger came undressed had to ask for lettuce, onion, no pickles no peanut sauce, which is fine but why have signature burgers listed and not dress them according to their menu. Found that strange. Will not be eating at Ocean burger again. Dinner at the Italian (in door), minestrone soup was good as was the ravioli, Caesar salad is good but a different presentation ( full romaine lettuce leafs with salad dressing, croutons and cheese , you have to cut it up and mix it up). Had the seafood linguine (which is technically an appetizer) but they made it my main it was very good. My husband had the chicken parmigiana with angel hair pasta and he was disappointed, chicken was over cooked and dry and a very small portion of angel hair pasta. Enjoyed the Abba tribute outdoors one evening. Very entertaining. Breakfast at the buffet, standard fare, good, great service , something for everyone. Lunch at Route 66 very good the seafood ceviche delicious nachos , quesadillas and chicken nuggets all good Dinner at the buffet on Italian night, a little underwhelming. Pasta was good as was the chicken parmigiana. They need more people manning the pasta station to get the line moving but I understand everywhere is struggling with hiring staff. Overall good but would not have suspected it was Italian night if I was not told in advance Dinner at Villa Marina tonight excellent Carlos the waiter was great. Chocolate martini from lobby bar is delicious . We did experience issues trying to get new pool towels, but wasn’t a show stopper for us, we just kept ours the whole week. The beach was well maintained and the setup with chairs and palapa’s are plentiful and close to the ocean. The ocean was warm and for the most part sea grass free. My observation of this part of the coast is that the water is not the aqua blue that I am used to seeing further down the coast towards Playa del Carman and Akumal . Overall enjoyed our experience at OCT.

Catalonia Royal Tulum: Beautiful quiet beach

The hotel grounds were openly lovely…natural rustic bridges that extend over the fish pond and lead to tropical mangrove trees w local people friendly animals creating shaded cover along the paths to hotel rooms. Very romantic feel. Rooms were exactly as pictured in their web sight and our maid, Paula, met us every day w a big smile n friendly warm demeanor. Rooms were very clean. Shout out to Daniel, guest services, who was able to address every concern (many Europeans seem to smoke in non smoking areas)…need a reservation when everything is booked?..he’s your go to guy. Reservations are required for dinner at any of the 5 restaurants (there is 1 other restaurant at the beach called “Beloved” but u must upgrade for $120 or $60 for a minimum of 3 days open to u for all meals if u purchase it) so I suggest you book as many as u can ahead of time for ease and comfort. They also offer a romantic dinner on the beach w exclusive service for a price of course. It looked pretty inviting! If u forgot anything, they have a few shops that can cover every need. Pool area is very well designed w cabanas near by to lounge on. Entertainment team was non stop. Though there was some construction near the pool, the hotel did their best to control the noise which was not significant at this time. Food overall was a bit of a let down; Somehow, I was expecting better quality. Hotel is almost an hour from the airport. I must say, The highlight of this trip was the beach! Gentle warm Caribbean waves adjacent to undeveloped properties to one side makes this property seem exclusive.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Spectacular resort

My husband and I just arrived back from a holiday at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort . It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The resort grounds were pristine with staff working continually to make it perfect. All the pools are amazing with different designs in each. Lounge chairs are plentiful making it easy to sit and relax anywhere. The food is excellent in the restaurants and the buffets are good with many different dishes. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Everything was back to normal at the Sian Ka'an

Everything was great! My only suggestion is that since the Sian Ka'an is away from the beach, the pools are what vacationers here are going for! If you book a basic room, you end up on the far side of the resort with the plunge pool away from all amenities. Extremely boring! It is best to book at minimum a Superior room as these rooms are in the larger part of the resort were there are 2 pools, the snack bar and a much closer walk to the main entrance. Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Not a 4.5 star anymore but the price is

The maintenance requires a lot of improvement boards needed replacing on the decks, to the point of being dangerous. Serious lack of beds on the beach, requiring people to wake up at 6:00 am to reserve with a towel. Food was good but lacked variety, stupid things like the orange juice in the morning was so watered down, especially my last day, out of 7 days 2 were not watered down. The pool was not clean top four inches of the walls were greasy with suntan lotion and algae This was never the cas [... read more]e before. Ceiling fans in the lobby were not working and turned off, or one in two working. AC in the rooms working but no control over temp it was cold or off. I expected things to be different after covid but not to this extent. There is a great attitude from the staff in general, grounds are kept pristine but chairs not stained, taps in the room were mismatched. I realize they suffered a lot during covid but example a couple from england reserved a year ahead because there was a kid's club, which was great in the past, but when they arrived it was closed. I would be hard pressed to say I would return after 4 visits.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing resort

What an amazing place. Absolutely loved it, the staff were some of the friendliest people I have ever met. Very accommodating and always pleasant, just brightened my day. The hotel was always clean, staff always working hard to keep it that way. The trolley service was outstanding. If you were walking the staff would stop to see if you needed a ride Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would go back again.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Sandos Caracol Eco Resort - average resort

Hi, I went to Sandos Caracol Eco Resort with my husband for 7 nights. We booked a superior suit with butler service, and we did not receive any of the amenities stated on Tripcentral. The room was clean, however, the beach was very rocky, not suitable for beaching. The food was average. The resort smelled of sewers. This resort is suitable for families with young children.

Grand Sunset Princess: Amazing resort

This resort is large but they do have shuttle that takes you from one place to the other I would recommend this resort to anybody we had a fantastic week and I can’t wait to go back… The only downside was the timeshare that they get you as soon as you enter the resort

Barcelo Maya Riviera: For the $$ can't be beat!

If clean is your thing than this is the one for you! Beach is very nice with a gorgeous view however you'll need water shoes as there is coral here and there...pools are fabulous & both swim up bars. One with music the other without & nicely spaced between the two. Service everywhere was excellent except at the front desk. Each time we called or stopped by and inquired information etc. about something it was as if we were a bother and NEVER a smile. Everything was incredible and cooked to your liking. Favs were steakhouse, Mexican & Japanese but all were as said AAA even the buffet! Rooms...spacious, clean with all amenities, stocked bar daily, we loved the tub on the patio & plenty of hot water 24/7. Value...I've personally paid twice if not more at Bahia, Secrets adults only etc. to get similar if not less than what was offered here. Location...I only give this a 4 star as the location is over an hour away from the airport and 30 min to Play Del Carmen.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Fall Get Away

We had good time at Barcelo Colonial, our second visit, and we would go back again, we had opportunity to tour all (6) resorts and in our thoughts for next visit we are going to stay at Palace resort, beach area not as nice as Colonial but the pool area is more to our liking, the Palace has more stairs but we are OK with that. All things said we had good time, the cost was fair, resort clean, staff friendly,food was good, rooms were good for us and we will go back. Thank you

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Fantastic Property!!!

This was a group trip (8 of us) and one of the real benefits to staying at the Sian Ka’an resort is that you get to use Tulum, Coba and Akumal properties as well. The trolleys were quick and took you wherever you wanted to go. This made our week fly by as we kept ourselves busy visiting the other resorts. Overall 5/5 experience for food, rooms and overall experience.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Great 2nd Stay!

We traveled with a group of seven and our stay was fantastic. Check-in was smooth and we were able to get our rooms close together. The majority of our time was spent around the massive pool and we preferred the "Pool Bar" area rather than the "Music Bar" area. Staff throughout the resort were very friendly. Language can sometimes be a barrier, but the staff worked together to get what you need. We felt that Roger Avila and the staff at the Pool Bar made us feel welcome and did a great job!  [... read more] The resort is very large, but that also means there is plenty of room when they are fully booked. Beach area is very spacious and the ability to travel to the neighboring resorts within the Barcelo family was a bonus.

Place is huge, if walking is difficult there is a shuttle to take you where u want to go. Ground is clean, restaurant (buffett) has a lot of food selections . The staffs are amazing. Friendly , always smiling and attentive to your needs. Unfortunately we only did 1 a la carte the Mediterranean restaurant. The food is satisfying. The beach although rocky it’s a good snorkeling spot.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Lovely resort not a great experience

The hotel grounds was amazing. Truly we could not imagine a more amazing decore and atmosphere. Our concierge service was awful. We heard some people had good experiences with their concierge. We really did not. We would have rather had our own control. He would not share with us our details of all of our dinner reservations in a summary, we had to ask him each morning and we would get attitude from him like we were annoying him. The first room we were put in was not the level that we booked. [... read more] The resort did make up for this by giving us a free upgrade when we went to talk to them about it. However we were told we would be moving rooms at 2 on the Tuesday. My wife and I waited 2 hours until we decided to go to the pool as we were waisting our day waiting around. Finally at 530 they were ready to move us. We moved into the new room which was beautiful until the roof started leaking. We had to use our wine bucket and ice bucket to catch the water and lay out towels. It took 2 days for the resort to fix this after we brought it to their attention. I will say we had some really amazing wait staff and bartenders. They were alot of fun and truly amazing at what they do. They made our experience great overall. We may have just had an overall unlucky experience. The resort showed alot of promise and like I said earlier the resort itslef was amazing. I would recommend to a friend but with a warning of some of the things we had. We would consider giving it another chance for sure but we would alos be very open to trying somewhere else next.
