Riu Guanacaste: Beautiful romantic getaway!

We visited in March 2018 and had the loveliest time. The staff were awesome, the place was clean and fancy, and the food at the resort was delicious, fresh, and varied. If you are dreaming of a white sand beach this isn't the resort for you. However, the pool area is absolutely amazing, and for myself and my fiance we were looking for a gorgeous place to RELAX with food that wasn't terrible and this resort did that and then some. At night though the beach lit up with beautiful phosphorescence so that was a real treat. One thing that you can do - and that we did - was take an ATV excursion that brought us to white sand beaches where we swam for a day. This area of Costa Rica is quite dry and arid, not full of lush rainforest, during the time we were there (March). It's hard to tell this because the resort itself is so lush and lovely. So we ended up taking an excursion to visit the rainforest and swam in a waterfall and soaked in natural hotsprings and this was absolutely amazing. This resort is quite small, which we loved. There were not a lot of children there, which we also loved (though it is child friendly). It was calm, relaxed, and the drinks were delicious. I want to go back today (especially because there's an ice storm right now in Toronto - yuck). Totally recommend.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Fanatastic Time

We have been there twice now and have yet to be disappointed. The service is exceptional. Staff is very friendly and bend over backwards to help you with any issues. The rooms get cleaned right away. The food is delicious and the staff waits on you hand and foot. Telling all my friends and family to go there! Great relaxing time!

Riu Merengue: This is not the resort you were looking for!

The rooms are smaller than most resorts I've been to. Arranged in villas. Eastern part of the resort is unused apart from villas. Example eastern reception area staffed with one person who can't do much but direct you to the main reception. East Theatre never used. Several pool tables are on site but only one is in serviceable condition. The other two are in extremely poor condition.

Riu Flamingos: Amazing

We have visited Riu Jalilsco. We had a great time. There was no complaints , Hotels went out of their way to help you and always smiling. It was nice to coffee on the table in the morning . We will be returning to this resort very soon .

Riu Ocho Rios: Enjoyable stay

Beautiful Resort. As always the RIU has great food. The buffet had an amazing selection for breakfast and dinner. The steakhouse was fantastic. I enjoyed a very tender steak that was equal to a fine dining steakhouse here in Canada. I went twice. The salad bar was also amazing. A well managed resort. The service was great in all food areas and pool bars. The service and cleaning staff kept the place spotless. Everyone was friendly. The nightly entertainment was varied with musicia [... read more]ns and dancers. Of special note was open mike night. A great way to end one's day. It goes without saying the pool area and beach were clean and beautiful. I had such a great vacation that I booked a stay at a RIU in Panama.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Great Getaway

My husband and I just got back from a weeks vacation at the Riu Palace Paradise Island. It was our first time in an adults only resort and found that it was a nice change. The resort itself was smaller then other Riu's we have been to but on the plus side it was very easy to access Restaurants etc... The pool bar was a lot of fun and had a great view of the Ocean. We very much enjoyed the service at the beach where you could get an umbrella and chairs set up for you anywhere you like. This was a nice touch. The staff were very helpful and made an effort to make sure you enjoyed your stay with the exception of the Entertainment staff. I have been to many resorts and unfortunately have to say they were the worst. Considering that this is what they are paid for I couldn't help but get the impression that they did not want to socialize with the guests and showed no enthusiasm.The other cons would be the coffee shop needs to be open in the morning. Prime time when people want coffee. In closing we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this resort for it's beach, rooms, cleanliness and service.

Riu Reggae: Riu doesn’t disappoint

The grounds are beautiful. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The bar staff are the best and can literally make anything! The rooms are clean and spacious. Not a huge resort if that’s what you are looking for. Best feature is 7 mins from airport..at your hotel and on the beach in no time!! No 1..1.5 hr bus ride.

Riu Negril: Awesome

Resort is clean. Great service Staff was quick to respond to any issue that was brought to their attention . Staff was very friendly Both buffet and a la cartel offered great food and good variety

Riu Emerald Bay: great resort

a few prblems but nothing serious this is the cleanest resort we have ever stayed at from check in to checkkout ran like a clock the drinks are not up to par the bar tenders says a lot of people note on that they are sure not 5 star class may be 3 in that catagory everthing else is great.

Riu Palace Antillas: In need of upgrade badly

The rooms are outdated, the bed was horrible, the wood furniture on the balcony without even any cushions.The food was plentiful but the meat was tough! The grounds and area very well kept and clean. Front desk does not do much to help you when needed. Loved Aruba but will not return to this resort. For a 5 star hotel and the money spent definitely NOT worth it. Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Riu Palace Cabos Son Lucas, Mexico

The resort was absolutely beautiful. The rooms very generous and clean. The service in restaurants, rooms and the grounds was stellar. We had a fantastic time. Check in and check out was very friendly. When we needed something brought to our room, the reception desk was very helpful and service was quick.

Riu Vallarta: Great vacation

Very clean well kept resort, beautiful grounds, pools and beach. Never overcrowded, no line ups in buffet. However downside was no reservations for alacarte restaurants, first come first serve therefore over an hour line up to get in. Lots of variety of food choices..good mixed drinks. Helpful and pleasant staff, always good supply of towels in room, good water pressure and always hot. All around probably best resort we have been to!

Riu Caribe Cancun: Was a nice resort..

Took our first trip to a RIU resort last week- April 2018- Previous posted reviews are accurate the resort is quite nice, clean and centrally located in Cancun- The food was awful over salted etc. little day to day variety. The staff were the very friendly, helpful and engaging.. Rated as a 4 star likely more of high 3. All problems that did exist were easily overlooked. Improvements to the food would benefit the resort..

Riu Santa Fe: Great resort!

Nice hotel, grounds are clean, pools are awesome, food was good and staff was helpful. Only complaint is that it's really load late at night because of drunks coming back from partying in town. Other than that it was a great week with amazing weather.

Riu Palace Jamaica: Great getaway!

Great food with lots of flavours at all the à la carte and the buffet. Very clean and service is outstanding. Everything is close within the resort and only a few minutes from airport. Very happy with our first trip to Jamaica! We will return to visit another part of the country.

Riu Flamingos: Beautiful Resort

Very well run resort. Clean, phenomenal food & service! Could use a pool for adults that are not interested in partying! Disappointed in the amount of food wasted by some vacationers, nothing to do with the resort, but maybe people should be charged for what they leave on their plates.

Riu Merengue: Needs upgrading

Hotel room and service staff were good. Beach and resort needs upgrading. Food was not at 4star Resort standards. Number of Restaurants was limited. Wine was not good(almost undrinkable) This was my second time at this resort and was disappointed this time.

Riu Flamingos: Amazing resort

Riu Jalisco was a great resort. The buffet and the a la carte restaurants were great except the oriental / Asian one (think it's called the Grand Dragon). Service was great. The room was clean. We also did the "amazing day" excursion and it was truly amazing.

Riu Playa Blanca: Beautiful resort

The hotel was fairly new, very clean and modern. Well maintained, services were great. Everyone was very polite. Lobby area was well kept and comfortable for relaxing. Food was good, lots of varieties, there is something for every taste pallet. Beach was different...not the typical white sand but greyish which I liked for it is different. Very clean beach but not the best I have been to. Pools were very big n nice I really like that this resort was just 7 mins away from the airport.

Riu Republica: Highly recommend!!!

Booked this hotel last minute with recommendation from the rep at Trip Central. I was sceptical because I usually book smaller resorts, I will definitely be returning to Rui Republica. Everything about this resort made my vacation great. Although it is larger it is layed out very well and no problems navigating the grounds. Restaurants were all wonder, although the best steak was not at the Steak House but at the Spanish restaurant. No reservations were required and we never waited longer than 2 [... read more]0 minutes for a table. We could wait in one of the many bars with a pager to notify you when the table was ready. Pools were many and varied from the party pool to quiet relaxing. Did not have to reserve chairs once by the pool. Lots of choice either in the sun or under a shade canopy. The beach was busy and harder to secure a shade spot but not impossible if you arrived early. The rooms were clean and comfortable, both of which are a deal breaker from my relaxation. Definitely will be returning.
