Couples Negril: Our Favourite

Second time around for this resort and loved it. The staff - shout out to Nelie, Elke England and to all the wonderful staff who go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need. Loved the addition of coffee and banana bread delivered each morning to our room for breakfast. Our favourite thing is never having to search for a spot on the beach, shade or sun. Simply the best. Food is excellent. We have already booked our return visit.

Loved the cottages,feel like your in a village. Everything super close to each other.no long walk to bar,pool or beach..Loved the friendly staff.Beach was lovely and were in process of upgrading umbrellas. This wS my 6th stay, like famy

Secrets St James: Disappointing Experience

This is our 3rd time in Jamaica but our first time at Secrets St. James Montego Bay, which contrasted sharply with the warm hospitality we’ve consistently enjoyed at other Jamaican resorts. Unfortunately, our group of eight felt unwelcome and encountered several issues that marred our vacation. Upon arrival, the initial information session quickly turned into a high-pressure sales pitch for expensive add-ons, such as $300+ romantic ocean-view dinners and costly massage packages. Despite my b [... read more]rother-in-law’s advice to avoid signing up immediately, we felt the pressure and enrolled in some offerings, only to face a cumbersome cancellation process later. This aggressive upselling set a negative tone from the start. One significant issue involved a catamaran excursion scheduled for Wednesday. With forecasts predicting heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, we attempted to cancel at the front desk. We were informed of a 24-hour cancellation policy we hadn’t been told about and warned that we’d be charged if we didn’t attend. On the day of the excursion, the catamaran was significantly delayed, and after repeated requests to cancel due to unsafe weather, the staff finally confirmed the trip’s cancellation. However, we were required to visit the desk again to sign paperwork, making the process unnecessarily protracted. Interactions with staff further soured our experience. When my brother-in-law and I inquired about accessing the Preferred Rooftop Bar at the Breathless Resort —based on another guest’s claim that it was possible—the front desk attendant responded rudely, asking, “Who told ya that?” More troubling, the attendant insulted sharply by calling him “the troublemaking Canadian,” possibly in retaliation for the catamaran cancellation. This unprofessional behavior was deeply offensive and unacceptable. The dining options also fell short of expectations. The Mexican restaurant was notably unpopular among guests, and the buffet, while adequate, was unavailable for dinner. The remaining choices—Italian, French, and Hibachi—were limited, and an unpleasant experience after dining at the Hibachi deterred us from returning. By the third day, our group felt distinctly unwelcome, a stark contrast to the inviting atmosphere we’ve cherished at other Jamaican resorts. The combination of high-pressure sales, poor communication, rude treatment, and subpar dining left us disappointed. Regrettably, our group, unfairly labeled as “troublemaking Canadians,” will not return to Secrets St. James Montego Bay.

Secrets St James: Disappointed

I’ve never been to any resort that pressured u to spend more money, from the time u arrive , u are pushed with excursions or upsells . Rented cabanas were so plentiful that u had not enough loungers near the pool , best seats at entertainment were available if u bought a premium bottle of wine only. There was no lobby bar to sit with your group , or anywhere else for that matter . Staff was as rude and unfriendly as I’ve ever encountered anywhere and I’ve been to many countries. We attempted to cancel our catamaran because of bad weather and I was called a trouble maker be concierge after that , I’m just so disappointed in our experience at secrets , I’ve never put a bad review for any resort before , but our whole group feels the same . Pools were not clean as well

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Good Hotel

Dining was great. Good food, Friendly people Maintenance an issue. Called or visited the desk 5 times trying to get the toilet handle fixed. Finally fixed on the last full day we were there. Take a picture of the map on the walkways, the web site map isn't sufficient to find your way around.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Great Stay! but a few hiccups.

This is a very large Hotel complex. We stayed on the Luxury Adults Only section. Our check in was very prompt and our rooms were large and very clean. We had a 3rd floor room with a balcony overlooking the pool and a partial view of the ocean. However it tended to be very noisy in the evening because we were close to the Bar. We had issues with the toilet and had to have someone up to fix it 3 times before it was fixed properly. We had a bad experience with the Romantic Dinner on the Beac [... read more]h which we paid extra for($68.us each). Two of us had the salmon and two had the steak. The steak was very tough and you could not cut it with the knife provided. Service was extremely slow!!! We spoke to several staff members at the front desk and reused to pay for the steak dinners. After much discussion and being referred to several staff during the process the hotel finally refunded us for 2 of the 4 dinners. The rest of the food was excellent at all of the buffets and the other a la cartes we visited especially The Knife Steak House. The Staff are the friendliest we have encountered in traveling. Always smiling and very courteous, they can not do enough for you. The beach at the family section was the best.

Riu Ocho Rios: Honestly, probably will not be going back to this resort.

The area that was the most disappointing was the dining. The food in my opinion was not very well prepared and did not have any taste, Jamaican flavor. We tried all the different restaurants, and the experience was all the same. In fact, most days we ate off site and encored extra cost because of this experience. Also, the service at best was poor and consistently poor. The room was great but had to get the Public Relations Manager involved as a result of the constant drilling on one pa [... read more]rticular night. Princess Grand Jamaica: Amazing resort

Grounds are clean well kept, food is plentiful, staff took great care in preparation the way one likes it, friendly and willing to make your experience with them as homelike as possible with no snow only white sands, the beach is lovely to sit and enjoy the colour of the water, clouds,warm sun, an organic feel, rooms clean, a few hurdles to overcome as they are new and learning

Catalonia Montego Bay: Peaceful and relaxing

This is our third visit to this resort,previous to the new name and new owners, this resort was the holiday inn. Although it is tired and needs renovation, it’s in the process now and we hope to return to see the upgrades next year. The main reasons for returning is the Staff,so friendly, the food, always tasty and plentiful, it’s quiet and always loungers on the beach. The gardeners did a great job, grounds very neat and tidy. The beach was raked every morning. The a la cartes were very good and you could always get a reservation for dinner. The buffet was very good as well. The ladies at the front desk were wonderful and check in was a breeze. This is not a high end resort, but was clean, well kept and comfortable. We felt safe and our items could be left on the beach without a worry. I would recommend the Catalonia to everyone, couples, singles and families. There was good security and no vendors bothering you on the beach Or in the resort. The swimming area needs to be addressed, too shallow. Hoping the new owners keep with the Jamaican feel and don’t overprice next year.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Great resort!

I took my 4 sons and my husband here and we had the most amazing time! The entertainment was great , the food was delicious, and the beach was beautiful! We felt welcomed right from the moment we got off the bus . The only thing I would say could use improvement is at certain times you can’t get food , not long times but a couple times we were famished and had to wait an hour .. all in all we cannot wait to return!!!!

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: terrible for us

the hotel was clean and grounds were great the rooms ok hated there was no beach puts it done to a 1 for us, foods at buffet was for us uneatable , except for fruit and ice cream, rooms were outdated and old feeling, beds were hard and our fridge was not stocked daily. I will not return as this resort did not offer me 3 things I thought was there, beach/to swim in, international liquor (crown royale was $9.00 a shot american) and small

Dreams Rose Hall: Excellent Customer Service

The Resort was very clean. The food was excellent. The staff are very helpful and have fantastic customer service. The nightly entertainment was ok. Was expecting a little more than a jazz band every night. The curious show was good, they needed more of that kind of entertainment. Our room was basic, could have used a makeup table instead of a desk. We found not enough room for bathroom stuff on the sink area, made it look cluttered. We had a few issues with our water in the shower but once brought to the hotels attention they fixed it. My only major complaint is check in. We stood in line for over an hour and half to get a room. That is not acceptable! People were getting frustrated and cutting the line. If there was is an issue with the rooms not being ready, check people in and let them enjoy the resort, they can go back to front desk to get a room assigned with in a hour or two. Or bring more maids on. We will not go back to this resort, only because we decided we prefer a place with no children. This resort is great for family’s.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Amazing resort!

I had a really great vacation with this resort chain and would definitely go back! The resort was beautiful — the grounds were extremely well kept and clean, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic, with the Asian restaurants being a real standout. We stayed on the luxury side, and I was a huge fan of the poolside entertainment — special shoutout to Crazy Legs for keeping the energy high and making it so much fun! The only downside to our stay was the del [... read more]ay in getting into our room. We didn’t get in until around 6 PM, and when we did, we noticed some slight mold issues and a non-working A/C. Thankfully, guest services acted quickly and moved us to a different room, which resolved the issue. All in all, it was a wonderful trip, and I’m already looking forward to returning!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Peaceful family vacation

Just spent a week in Jamaica at the Grand Bahia Principe. Rooms were clean, nice king bed and good air conditioning (almost too good). The buffet was well varied, had steak almost every night grilled but large variety of other meats. Fresh fresh fresh vegetables, a little early for good msgo but nice variety and fruit selection. Pool had a lovely mix of shallow water for small kids and deeper water with music by the pool bar. Everything was central (5 min walk to our rooms, the pool, the buffet, the beach) and there were a number of cordoned off beach spots to choose from. The grandkids thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling in shallow eater and seeing lots of fish and hermit crabs. Bahia has a good, reliable standard and it was a great relaxing vacation. Only the airport was a disappointment returning home. There were several restaurants in the airport terminal but none were open except Wendy's and Margaritaville. Excellent weather, good food, good drinks and a great time with family.

Azul Beach Resort Negril: 90th birthday celebration

We would first like to say that the beginning of our trip was a rocky start. Receiving an email from Air Transat just a day before our vacation about the downgrade of the hotel was in itself worrying but as there were over twenty people to consider with their offer we really had no choice as some of our party had already arrived. Contacting them to see what their impressions were aided in the decision that we had to move forward with the celebration as planned. We felt we could deal with issues [... read more] as the arose. We all arrived safely and always thankful to the pilots and crew that make that happen. We arrived fairly late in the night but give credit to our bus driver for our safe arrival. It is a skill to drive over there. Not sure why but we were given an upgrade to a better room. We had paid for the Premium Oceanview suite and got a swim up room. Nice but in the very last building, very last room next to a very, very noisy highway. I would not consider that an upgrade. We understood the resort to be at full compacity so not worth the aggravation to change rooms. Please avoid any room the backs onto that highway. The birthday celebrations are planned for the Saturday. We contacted the hotel and met with Manuel (Food and Beverage Manager). We give a BIG thank you to Manuel and his crew that made the entire afternoon and evening very special for a special 90th birthday. Family and friends from all over were there to make this a day to remember. Lots of food and laughter. Service was great and everyone enjoyed themselves. As for the resort itself they should be thankful for some of their amazing staff members who made it feel like a holiday. However I would really recommend that the resort rethink how they do their towel service. Seven days there and only one day we had access to beach towels. Not sure why it was a big issue. Other resorts give you a card to get towels or exchange towels. The resort did deserve to be downgraded but I think a 3 1/2 star at most. It is tired and needs a good amount of time spent to bring it up to a higher rating. No one went hungry but they were always running out of things. A very special thank you to the amazing staff that are working in the restaurants for their hard work. Our hostess at the Mahogany buffet restaurant and servers at the bars around the resort. We would also like to give a special shout out to Lyndon our tour driver of "PurposeDriven Tours" Jamaica. He was exceptional on our tour to the Appleton Rum Estate. A tour I would highly recommend doing. He also provides Airport Transfers, Jamaican tours all over the island and private tours if you want. We were glad to at least be out of the snow and into some warm weather. Aside from the daily heavy rain showers it was so nice to be able to swim in such a beautiful location on the Seven Mile beach.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: This resort was BOMB!!!

We had an absolutely amazing time at the Royalton Negril! The food was out of this world so many choices in the buffet! We loved hunter steakhouse! The pool and vibes team was always on point! Download the Royalton app, everything was seamless! Use the app to book Al a carte, room service and to make any requests! Mini fridge stocked daily, rooms were always clean with fresh towels! The pool bartenders always had my cup filled and everyone was so pleasant and cheerful! we will be back Negril!

Riu Montego Bay: Wonderful Resort

We had a most wonderful 1 week stay at the Riu . This was our second time there as we enjoyed it so much. Certainly we will be back. The selection of daily foods at the Buffett was great, the Jerk chicken hut was even better. We also enjoyed a delicious meal at the Steak house. Our Room was well suited and clean, we requested a certain Room and was so glad to have been able to get it. MJ and Brandy were always so kind and the whole Resort Staff as well.

Grand Muthu Runaway Bay Club Caribbean: Nice quiet resort.

We like small resorts with lots of greens/trees etc. Especially the huts in garden like settings are very nice and comfortable. The 5 beaches are nice but small and the windy weather allowed body surfing more than swimming! Facilities and food are good but moderate. Did not use the pool so no rating. The beach bar was under renovation which did not affect us but if your room is at the far east end then it is a long walk to get a beer!

Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters: Great week!!

Food, service, live entertainment and accommodations were all amaizing! Was a great week. Only complaint is there were not enough lounge chairs and we could not watch NHL hockey games at the sports bar.

Royalton Hideaway Negril: Amazing Staff & Food

This resort was not a true "Adult" resort as expected. Some restaurants were "family" restaurants. It was also very difficult to get dinner reservations without staff assistance which required us to have to go down to the lobby desk almost daily. We did love the staff and all of the food at the restaurants. It was a long (more than 3 hours), uncomfortable ride from the airport.
